I'm looking for a way, possibly free, to fully backup my phone.
I already use PIM Backup to save my contacs, Messages, and so on (but this is done on a daily basis with ActiveSync too, so this is not critical).
Much more critical is to backup eMail accounts settings (username, password, server addresses, ports, ssl, and so on).
Due to misterious reason (main suspect is Resco Audio Recorder, from now on disinstalled) I lost my account settings twice, and this is really annoying, as I use my phone to check many eMail account regularly so when this kind of crash happens, I have to re-type every single setting...
So, if a way exists to backup account settings, this could be enough. But, as my phone is currently perfectly configured and working, I would like to make a "snapshot" of the phone on the storage card, si I can later fully restore it.
I use a Shifu WM6.5 Rom.
Thanks in advance
Bye

Hi all - I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on this small problem. O2 replaced my faulty Stellar (the battery wasn't charging).
I created a full backup using SPB backup beforehand and used it to restore all the data to the new Stellar. Here's the query:
Although 100.0% of the data transferred, my email account (called 'Steve') isn't showing up. I know it's there because SKTools can see its database, (and if I use a separate PIM backup utility it copies over the OLD 'Steve' account) but it's just not visible in Pocket Outloook.
Not a mjaor problem as I easily recreated the account using a different name. It's a niggle really as to WHY it's not showing. There's also some emails in that account that I need, but there doesn't seem to be any way of getting at them.
ooo err!

Am guessing that the emails and folders contained in the pop(?) account were backed up but not the registry entries that told the device about the account itself.
Since I've got some problems with disappearing E-mail accounts on my E-Ten M700, I've always used a small tool called Mail Account Repair.
I attached it. Maybe it helps.
Missing email accounts
Yes, the registry was my first thoughts too! but SPB is supposed to backup everything isn't it?
Thanks for the mail-tool. I'll try it out as soon as I get into the office tomorrow
Cheers for the quick replies guys!

I backed up with sprite backup using the stock at&t rom, then flashed to l26s new rom and now sprite backup only reloads some of my settings and my damn contacts are gone. Is there a way to manually extract the contacts out of the sB backup file also why does activesync think that i dont have outlook installed The damn window is open right beside it and it still says install outlook any help would be appreciated thanks ahead of time
did you check out the MIGRATION settings in the backup menu under options? you can choose to migrate your settings to another device (it migrates call logs, contacts, calender, tasks and categories...better yet for contacts to never fail and to always be updated is to use an exchange server for your pocket outlook email (i use a free one called mail2web i dont know what id do without it, push email is far superb over pop3)
well that would have worked before i backed up but doesnt help much now. thank u . i dont use email on my phone i just lost a lot of phone numbers. I just need to find a way to get to the phone numbers again. syncing with outloo didnt work because it says outlook isnt installed
Recently i Flashed my rom to have the TF3D interface for the HTC Diamond, works fine, except for the landscape view but thats not a major issue. I backed up all of my file fine and everything is ok. when i go to restore my backup all of my emails from previous are still there which is fine, my problem is that they are not associated with an account just yet from my newly flashed rom, also when i do set up a my account (gmail) the device sees the settings from the original emails and will not allow me to save the account as it was before.
Any Help
Try setting up the account BEFORE restoring the backup.
PIM Backup for example doesnt let you restore if there's no account of the same name already setup so you can't get it wrong.
Might be different with whatever backup software you use though.
Hi,
As newbaby I need help regarding phone backup. I have currently PDACornerUltimate v13 and set up contacts, calendars, sms, mms, installed applications (some games, programs…), 5 mails setup, connection for 3G and MMS, specific sounds for contacts, alarms, calendar…
How to backup all these information and when install new version of rom to recover it? I know that pim backup application can restore contacts, calendar, sms, mms, but what application to use for restoring mails (servers, passwords…), connections, installed applications?
Thanks
Maybe SPB back up will work for you.

Hello pericaperica,
If you are wondering about a good program to back up installed programs and other information from one ROM/device and put it on another ROM/device, my advice to you is that you shouldn't. It is a real pain to do, I know, but to avoid real problems in the long run as I found out, you should just reinstall everything and re-enter everything. It is REALLY annoying and can take quite a while, but you will avoid potential registry errors, corrupt files, etc. I have tried a few of the backup programs that claim to allow restore after ROM upgrade, but none of them work like they claim to. Hope that helps,
Dave
Hi,
in terms of backups wp8 already has a lot of backup .. skydrive.. whatever automation.
But i am wondering what would happen if i swap my phone due to "damage" for example to minimize the backup work.
On my TP3 i had spb backup that backed everything up for me. it was a joy to swap the phone.
Do i need another programm on wp8 or is everything synced in the cloud with skydrive and microsoft account?

You have to turn on backup from settings. I can vouch that backup works well as my 8X keeps breaking... And takes a long time to be fixed. Screw you HTC!
Back on topic, 4 main things are backed up
1. Text messages (REMEMBER TO TURN IT ON)
2. Apps installed on your phone (App data is NOT backed up)
3. Your accent color (Home screen layout is not backed up)
4. Settings (Except home screen layout as stated)
Everything is automated if you TURN IT ON. It is linked to your MIcrosoft account, and AFAIK does not use skydrive storage.
Did I forget to state to TURN BACKUP ON?
Text messaging backup is off by default. TURN IT ON It's a lifesaver.
is the information about email accounts backed up as well? like fb gmail etc? or do i have to add them in manually again
1 there is no full phone backup, in wp, yet
2 there is no 2

Account info is backed up, but your password needs to be entered again.
