Some of the issues On HTC Touch pro - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

Hi all,
I brought new HTC touch pro 5 days back. I love the way it works accept some concerns.
I am not using any ROM accept S2U2 to lock the phone, i hardly use the phone for internet access. Battery drains out approximately with in 6 hours. I charge the mobile when battery completely drains but still no use. I tried dissabeling TF3D same issue.
How to connect the phone as modem to PC's......
Request all your help

I had this issue too. (battery drains in couple of hours in stand-by, without doing anything)
Just continue to charge the battery, after a couple of discharges/charges cycles the battery will perform better (in stand-by).

u can use internet sharing function or wireless modem if ur device hv that apps which u can activate it from settings > connections panel.
to use internet connection sharing, pls make sure the active gprs access was configured properly, connect ur device, & tap connection sharing when menu popup. If it not popup, u can start it from start menu.
To use wireless modem apps, u need modem driver installed on ur pc/laptop. then activate ur modem from device, connect it via btooth or cable, then setup ur dial-up account as usual.
Hope this helps

Sir

Do you use touch flow 3d or spb shell which is good.... Where i can find the SPB.exe cabs....

I would try using something like Pocketshield instead of S2U2 - it is amazing what a difference to the battery it makes...

PPC Tablet Remote Control Suite

More info about this @ http://www.aacompserv.com/AACompWeb/Modules/PPCTablet/WhatIsIt.aspx
I'm using this as basically a remote control for my desktop PC.
It works way better than things like vnc and is highly customizable.
Is there anything else out there that is close to this or better ?
As I say its almost perfect however the only thing wrong with it is that when I turn off the kaiser and then back on - wifi re-establishes itself but I end up having to reconnect to the PPC Tablet server - only adds a few seconds but is annoying as it doesn't keep the connection alive.

Install 'Kaiser Tweaks' and use the setting in it to keep you WiFi active in sleep mode.
Remember to disable WiFi when you are not using it as it will drain your battery.
Nothing however can solve the problem of a lost connection if you walk away though!

Awesome... Apply reg hack... soft reset and it works great although the wifi led doesn't flash whilst in sleep mode (I'm not bothered by that
Cheers mate
Interesting, their site states that it's not compatible with WM6 yet, but I see it's working for you.

Works great for me - looks dated but works.... I got the feeling it may hicup in landscape mode hence the reason why they say its not wm6 compatible.
FYI - I'm running dutty hybrid 4 final with .net cf 2 - All standard stuff really

Avoid TyTN sleeping when using WIFI

How can I avoid WM going to sleep when I'm transferring "big files" with WIFI ?
yes of course.. just in the battery menu configure that PDA doesn't go sleep..
cheers.
It's already done...
In fact, I'm using "Slide to unlock" (S2U2) and I'm trying to sync my RSS feeds with "pRSSreader" using WIFI. After a few minutes, the screen goes to black and wifi is disabled...
So I'm looking for a solution to get my update and lock after finish
Another possiblity: Keep WIFI activated when going to sleep....
I use this to ensure keeping skype and msn online via wlan... u will find the registry key somewhere here in this board if u like it like this (just be sure to turn wifi off when u dont need it for battery reasons)
Hey lemmings,
The easiest way is to install kaisertweak.
There is an option in the XML file under Wifi Standby Mode: Enable the function
Soft reset and you're done!

The WiFi turning off on me has bothered me on occasion. I looked and I don't see any WiFi settings on Kaiser Tweak. I'm using Version 0.4 if that makes any difference.
Thanks,
Jay
Viva Kaiser Tweak ! I've use it to enable Wifi Standby Mode.
Yea, I hate that. Good thing they made Kaiser Tweak! I would be a forever annoyed by the sim contact list showing. . Is there a solution to hid them forever?
Just changed this. Thanks!
My university has a log in for Wifi and I was tired of logging in everytime my phone went to standby. Now I'm always connected!
Battery hog though.

I downloaded the latest version, which I find out is 0.41 (my old was 0.4) and now I see the WiFi setting. Thanks!

The wifi standby freezes the phone on the Tytn.

Turning 3G off

This may be a really stupid or obvious question, but is there any way to turn 3G off the phone and only have it on when you go on the internet/internet application? I think it drains the battery quite a bit, and if I press disconnect and am in range, it justs connects again in the same minute.

Just turn it off in your comm manager, mine never goes on unless i want it too.
What is that? I don't think there is an option on my comm manager.
ok do you have advancedconfig?
start>programs>system tools>advancedconfig ?
If not are you using your device with the original software and rom it came with?
I don't have advancedconfig, or even system tools in programs for that matter, im on vario iii by t-mobile
yeah i don't know how to help you since you are using a stock rom, which doesn't really give you many options for customization.
Search for Modaco NoData. It allows you to toggle your data connections reliably.
Robert
just go to start>settings>connections>hsdpa and then uncheck it? does that work?
if not go to settings>personal>phone>band> select GSM
I use the stock att rom and was able to install the 3G Comm Manager without a problem. My battery lasts MUCH longer now.
Just search for 3G Comm Manager in this forum and you will see several versions to choose from.

Diamond Battery 3G question and also GPS

Hi Everyone,
First post here so hopefully you guys can help. Been doing a lot of reading of the site over the last few hours since I got my Diamond - looks great. Am usually very literate in these things but have always tended to be an S60 guy so now breaking into the WM world properly..
Anyway, there are two things I wanna run by you which I'm sure you guys may know..
1. Battery/3G
As we all know, the battery sucks.. There's no denying that. I refuse to switch from 3G to 2G though cos that spoils the object. I have already conceded by turning HSDPA off and am now on normal 3G as it is. One of the things that can't be good for the battery is that it connects to check emails and then stays connected.. Whereas the beauty of the iPhone for example is that if you tell it to poll your imap server every 15 mins, it connects, checks and downloads and the disconnects. It connects again another 15 mins later.
I've set my Diamond to poll every 30 mins in the hope that it would then disconnect once it has downloaded the emails rather than staying connected for hours and hours at a time to the internet even though it's only checking my email server every 30 mins or so.. you follow?
So, I downloaded Advanced Customisation and have turned off the Auto Attach feature.. But what it does is stop the Diamond auto connecting the first time.. but then once it's connected, it stays connected to the internet.
You follow me?
Basically, I want a way for the phone to disconnect from the net when it has checked for messages then reconnect when it's time to check automatically again. Rather than staying connected or me having to switch to a manual check. Is that possible guys? Maybe that will help with the battery.
2. GPS/Battery
Other thing I heard was that if you go into the GPS settings and change the program port from Port 4 to None, then it saves on battery life. Only downside is that you then have to fiddle with the settings before you fire up Tom Tom or Google Maps. Is there any truth that the phone is always looking for GPS satellites even when satnav software is not switched on.
3. ALARM
Oh actually - there is a third question.
Is there a way of having the phone on silent but alarm clock on so that I can sleep knowing I will be woken up by the alarm but NO phone calls. It's a basic thing in Symbian/Blackberry/S40 but seems to be missing on my Diamond?
Thanks all - i have googled and searched through the forums looking for answers to these questions but had no luck.. Hopefully you can post some answers.
Have a good day and thanks in advance
Phil
I'm pretty sure that just because it's connected ie. the E or 3G symbol on the signal strength bar. It doesn't pull extra juice, extra power is only required to transfer data and not to 'maintain' the connection.
if your area has great 3G connectivity, then you could set the phone to 3G only instead of auto, cause that's what usually saps the power, the phone constantly trying to find the best band when it's feels that the signal strength isn't good enough.

Hi
BTW, to set to 3G only, is it UMTS(800+2100) or UMTS(1700) in the UK?
Cheers
Sorry i'm from MAlaysia so I wouldn't know your settings. But in anycase you can leave that at AUTO. Just force it to UMTS instead of GSM or AUTO

I think you need to set the auto disconnect drop down in Advanced Config. I've set it to 10 secs and it works for me.

There is an easier way... Just turn down the call volume to zero, leave system volume up. This will keep the alarm ringing, but calls won't bother you.
SMS messages however will also still ring. So if you are afraid of being woken up by those, just turn them off in the notifications setting.
Oh yeah, and don't forget to turn up the volume of calls again after you wake up I missed some calls because of that, hehe.

[Q] Best option for tethering?

Hi, I have an HTC Touch Diamond on BoostMobile. I don't use it for calls, all I want to do with it is tether to my laptop. With its current Winmo 6.1, I've tried Pdanet and Internet Sharing both on wired, wifi, and bluetooth. But it is very inconsistent. It drops off all the time and getting it to link up always hit or miss and a huge hassle. In addition, my battery life sucks!! It drains way too fast (about 2hrs) with just a data connection.
What is the best option to get easy consistent tethering (preferably wireless) and good battery life?
Custom ROM, Android, or something else?
Appreciate any help on sorting this out!
thanks!!

if you want to enable the withdrawal of Windows Mobile with Internet Connection Sharing you, you should see how to setup it at http://www.brighthub.com/mobile/windows-mobile-platform/articles/59174.aspx

Tethering Option
Thanks for the link! I have been successful in getting "Internet Sharing" to work, it just drops off all the time. What I'm really wondering is: if all i want to do is tether, should I switch to XDAndroid, or another WinMo rom, or what else, so that I can tether easily and save on battery?
Thanks for any advice on this!
beret to download free software from Google app store
Beware melt or fire may occur!!!!!

NOTE: BEWARE your device get really HOT when you Tethering I guess it is not a good idea to use it as a HOTSPOT more than 2 hours!!!!!!
Shadowstar57 YOU mean "...... Internet Sharing ....it just drops off all the time..."
when the screen goes off???
If that is the case, just plugin your wallet DC and configure the setting for never screen OFF when it is Plugin the DC. ALL the HTC DIAMOND when Tethering battery life will last less that 2 hours.
BEWARE: PLEASE I REALLY THINK THIS IS A REAL SERIOUS ISSUE, and today is the reason why some NEW phones with LTE are TOTALLY push back (get delay) because the LTE radio get really hot with normal use. Example: Motorola Bionic for Verzion
