At the end of the day yesterday Fring released the 3.34 version that is using correctly the internal loudspeaker for our HTC phones!!!
Just installed it and it works indeed!
Hope this can help all people that as me were waiting for a VoIP client for "normal" calls...
Oh and it even works on WM6.1, finally
thanks!
so nice toknow about it!
finally no more echo.

Thanks dengi,
that's a great news!!
When do u think this improvement will be available for other brand, like my Samsung SGH-i780?
It seems there is a little bug though, I already set it to use "WiFi Only" but I noticed that Fring randomly tries to connect via 3G.
Not working on HTC TyTN (WM 6.1)
....I mean the earpiece!! The switch is available but everything is muted.

Ciao Vittore, mi spiace ma in effetti nel sito Fring c'è scritto chiaramente che il problema dell'altoparlante interno è risolto solo sui telefoni HTC!
Non ho idea per altri brand quando risolveranno...
Hi Vittore, I'm sorry but the Fring website clearly states that at the very moment they only fixed the internal loudspeaker for the HTC devices!
I've no idea how long they need to fix this for other brands....
Well, the Tytn is an HTC device as far as I know

Well the TyTN is the very first HTC branded smartphone lauched......definitely HTC!!
And it definitely does not work!!
Sorry for the misunderstanding: I thought that Vittore had troubles with Samsung only and not that he also tryed with a Tytn II
I perfectly know Tytn II is an HTC device and as matter of fact it works to me and to the two first users who answered this thread: KILRAH and XCESSPDA
When I activate a call via Fring now with my phone (with WM 6.1 using the standard official HTC ROM) the default is the internal earpiece. And if during the call I press the "switch" button, the audio passes from the internal earpiece to the external loudspeaker and viceversa
And other users are using successfully this new release
So it would be interesting investigating what the specific problem is to whom has troubles. Are you Vittore using the same ROM? Have you checked all the volume controls in the phone and in the Fring application?
To me I can confirm that now Fring is perfectly working on Tytn II.

You're mixing again, he tryed with a TyTN, not a TyTN II
So, different device, different hardware, possibly different behavior.
But he has to take some too, this is the TyTN II forum so wouldn't be the right place to post it, like we can see it gets people confused
Oooops,
thank you very much for your clarification, Kilrah!

works for O2 Stellar official rom WM6.1
Just to confirm that it works (can hear the Skype call from the earpiece instead of the loudspeaker!) for me with an O2 Stellar running official RUU_Kaiser_O2_UK_3.29.206.0_radio_sign_25.83.40.02_1.65.16.25_Ship.exe rom
Thanks for the update! Without this thread, I would probably have abandoned Fring! :-D
first voip software that works flawlessly

This is the answer I received from SKYPE support re the TyTn II - so are the happy users lucky or do the Skype guys know nothing???
"
This device has CPU with ARM v4 instruction set. Unfortunately it is incompatible with Skype for Mobile 2.2 voice calling.
Only the chat function is working on that device with Skype for Mobile 2.2 at the moment.
You can read in more detail about that problem from http://support.skype.com/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=980
Our development team is working hard to make Skype for Mobile compatible with more and more devices but no release date is currently available.
Please keep an eye on newer Skype for Mobile versions at our web page: http://skype.com/intl/en/download/skype/mobile/
We apologise for the inconvenience, but for the moment only chat functionality is supported
"
Had you tried 2.1 version?
I haven't tried anything - about to buy my TyTn II - just point of information to know whetner it works or not - makes a difference...
Think am lucky so far, I've made 3 calles and it worked fine apart from from usual echo.
I must be lucky too - works great - and even works very well with stereo bluetooth headset.....

What is Skype smoking? A cursory scan of anything named TyTN? The Kaiser has a ARM v6 instruction set. The Hermes supported voice chat too, especially in the 2.2 beta, but not the final gold.
Skype REALLY doesn't want to support any of the PDA phones. Hmm.
When it does work, does it support voice over Bluetooth headset, or does it still only support voice over speakerphone and wired headset?
From what I understand, the lastest verison of skype doesnt work on both Tytn and tytn 2 because of there new voice decoder. The older one works fine. But I dont know which version of skype it goes back to. Look in the Tytn forum and there are heaps of info on which one works and which doesnt and Im guess its the same for the tytn 2.

As rakh1 says you can select HTC P4350. So this indicates two things
1
TyTn 2 does not have to use the older version Skype 2.2 Beta or older
2
When Skype were asked about this they just heard the TyTn part and immediately launched their standard line - Skype chat is not compatible etc. Perhaps if they had been asked about the Kaiser or the P4350 then the answer would have been correct! (as suggested by NuShrike above)
Mike
i just downloaded skype 2.2 and it works like a champ on my kaiser. as others said just pick the p4350 and it will run np.
yep, volume still seems to come out of the rear speaker though, also, I had inital error when installing via the PC through activesync, but once copying the cab over, it installed and runs smoothly.
I wonder if the Skype crowd ever miss the Joost fellas
you guys who are using Skype successfully, couple of questions:
1) are you using internet or WIFI connection?
2) Which version of Skype?
Thanks!

1. Either.
2. The latest PPC build downloadable from the SKype site.
Skype phone calls seemed to work ok for me - perhaps a little crackle on the other side.
Does anyone know why skype only works through the speakers? Is this an issue with WM6 in general?
Hello,
I bought the Herald because I wanted to use VOIP on it eventually.
But then it doesn't seem to work quite as expected. The main problem is that the sound doesn't come from the earpiece but from the speakerphone instead...
Has this problem been solved???
Thanks in advance!
/Stig
tested , it is not working on T-mobile Wing, it keeps saying "searching", I may have to change ROM to use Microsoft VOIP.
the SJphone works fine on Wing

I had made an earlier POST about using VOIP on wing. Will appreciate your help to setup VOIP on Wing. I downloaded and installed WM6VOIP and Setupvoip from the forum - but did not understand how to get the device to dial out. Do you need to use the phone dialer or do you need to use another softphone software.
Will appreciate your thoughts...

anyone bother to read around a bit...
it uses the same dialer for GSM and for VoIP calls.
anyway - fring is the best solution
Hi all,
There are several threads talking of this problem: as soon as you install VoIP on the diamond, the GPS cannot be accessed, whatever the application you use (TomTom, GoogleMap, HTC GPS Tool ...).
It seems that for now, the only way to get back GPS is to hard reset the device.
There must be a way to know what files or settings are overridden by VoIP so as to get them back to the correct version.
If someone has another solution than Hard Reset, please post it here.
For reference, here are the threads dealing with this problem:

This issue is with the WM implementation of VoIP. I have had that same problem too. I was hoping to use it because it is transparently integrated into the dialer (you can switch GSM and VoIP dialing on the fly). This problem doesn't affect Fring ,Skype or SJphone etc. because they implement VoIP independantly from windows - they use their own signalting stack and probably codec implementation.
I used WM6 VoIP on the cruise and it worked *sort of* ok - echo sometimes, and often pretty bad delay - more than 300ms, even when network conditions would allow for a much better performance.
Still, Anyone out there knows if the WM6.1 VoIP implementation was fixed for the Diamond yet?
What about fring ? is it slow on the diamond ??? is there any problems about delay or else ?
Regards
Tony

I installed and tested it with my 3mbit wireless connection with no problem. The sound was not as clear as if you use GSM, but hey, you can call for free!
Try this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-344429.html
I tried to delete the following files:
ipdialplan.xml, dnsapi.dll, voipphonecanvas.dll, rtcdll.dll.
I could not delete the third one. Then after a power cycle, I got back the GPS. This was done on 1.34.
i cannot confirm the gps "lost" problem.
GPS is still working after installation of the VOIP package.
Only the sound level of SIP calls is really low.... (and i am locking for a solution)

Which VoIP package did you use? You're about the only one for who it does work fully properly. If you could supply us with the ROM you've used, including the Radio ROM, that'd be great

i used this package: destr0_VOIP_WM61___SIP_Config_1.1.CAB (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2326934&postcount=50)
on one diamond applied step by step (without the cab install) and on a second diamond with the cab install. On both GPS is still functional and running.
ROM and Radio is german stock O2.
the low volume problem: ivestigations shows that the rear speaker (which is on top on the diamond) is used for the output. So this "sounds" like low volume on the internal speaker (since both speakers are close to each other).

Weird, that's the one most of us use. It's probably to do with your specific ROM and Radio. I hope one of the dev's who know infinitely more than me on this could shed some light / use this info to make it work for the rest of us
For us, though, the internal speaker is used! This might also have to do with the ROM differinces. Very weird.
Hi,
same here on my 1.37.0 german ROM. But I used jasjaming "VOIP drivers.cab" from http://wmblack.info/addons/enchantments.rar and those can be uninstalled. So installing them, VOIP up and running, just need to tell it in the settings->phone->internet tab to use VOIP (everytime I reinstall the drivers).
But GPS goes dead. If I unstall the drivers via Remove program the VOIP will not connect anymore, but GPS is up and running again.
Did anyone try it with ROM 1.93?
Thanks,
Seven
I use googlemaps and the new Skype for 6.1. Before that I used Fring.
Reporting NO problems here SIR!!!
To solve the problem just rename file /windows/dnsapi.dll to for example dnsapi.dll_bck and make soft reset or turn off and on your device.
There will be created a new file with the same name and you can delete the old renamed one. Then the GPS working properly as well as VoIP. Good luck...
file not created after soft reset
I renamed this file but it isn't created again after a soft reset. On the other and everything seems to work properly (exept SIP for the moment, but it wasn't before I deleted the file!).
Does anybody know how I could re-create it or where I can find it ?
(btw it's a Touch HD)
thanks !
I've got the same problem, renaming let everything working... except voip...
...damn...

Solution
Bonjour,
JC
Traduction en English:
I want to give information that will for sure has a lot of us (three days of hell that I enjoy doing.
It concerns the version of the GPS VoIP plant, unfortunately got my HD1 and have only found it with Tomtom GPS, here is the solution that finds the GPS without Hard Reset:
1) uninstall the programs in the order listed:
SipConfigTool Voip.cab and then WM6VoIP.CAB then Total Commander (included but I think that that is a must) do a soft reset after WM6Voip Voip and for other leave them in place.
I had installed in parallel which requires Advanced_Configuration FrameWok3.5 I also uninstalled but before the manipulations above.
Eureka operates again it detects my Tomtom GPS again
Here
For those who always want the SIP I gave the correct version of WM6VoIP, the GPS function is continuous, yet again the install complete but I am hopeful.
I have this problem with my htc kaiser:
When the phone is under edge or gprs network and I received (or send) a calling, the phone switch off. (scuse me my english).
If I'm under 3g or Hsdpa I can make and receive calling regulary.
I tryed a lot of radio (1.71-1.70-1.65) and rom (also originaly) but the problem is the same.
Can somebody suggest me a solution?
ITA.
sounds like a battery problem, try replacing
sounds like a battery problem, try replacing
How does that sound like a battery problem?
It doesn't work on the slower less battery aggressive data, but does work just fine with the power draining 3g..
This sounds like a problem people have had before, something that has been posted a few times.

Hi everybody.
Sorry to disturb you but i have a serious problem with my xperia.
I recently tried the new nand version of sp3dev's CM 7 with his new kernel wich solved the problem of wifi suspend ecc...
now, i got back to WM.
I thought i did all right but now i phone is stuck in Gsm mode,
only sometimes it gets to EDGE and never to 3g or HSDPA.
When in GSM i have full coverage, but i can't call nor recieve..
I tried everything:
Task 29
new ROM (Dynamics)
new RADIO (1.17)
Task 29
new ROM again (Energy (just to try..))
but nothing seems to solve..
I tried the sim on another mobile phone, and i can call/recieve.
Thank you for the answers you will give me.
PS. i'm italian and my provider is TIM
hai la 3? Se si anche io sto avendo un sacco di problemi da qualche giorno su una scheda si e sull'altra no
Hem.. i feel a little stupid, but now everything works fine..
I mean, i don't know why, i changed nothing on my phone.
Half an hour after the boot (it still showed Gsm signal)
I recieved a call... and a minute later all the messages that were sent to me during the "blackout".
Now 3g/HSDPA is fully working (i am listening to an album on youtube..)
I really don't know what happend.. maybe flashing the radio helped... but i don't know why it worked just after half an hour.
I feel sorry for occupying space on the forum.
Close or delete
PS. grazie per l'interessamento lemon88. Ero tre, ora sono Tim.. e comunque ora va tutto bene..
Because the problem was solved after half an hour, I think it wasn't a flashing-related problem.
Either there was a problem with your mobile network (even if the signal is strong), or maybe a problem with wm (maybe it's busy searching for media/images on first boot).
Glad your problem was solved, though
