streaming video on O2 XDA Stellar (HTC Kaiser) - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi
i got this phone a few months back and have never been able to watch streaming videos on youtube, the streaming video program keeps coming back with a 'failed to find network' message, initially i thought this was a fault with the phone but after contacting O2 a dude in the tech support dept told me that 02 wont allow streaming video over there network, yet i had a shot of the i phone 3g and its more than happy to do it, is there any way to get this working
regards,
mark Inglis

Read more... the answer is here.
Ill give you a couple keywords that will help you
1) Skyfire
2) Flashvideobundle
Hope this helps!

Right, still having no succes, i installed the correct version of TCPMP along with the flash video bundle and although the flash video bundle seems to be doing its job TCPMP will absolutely not work, it keeps crashing on startup and generating a crash.txt file, i had a rake for threads for why tcpmp wont work and found a link for a version (exactly the same as the one i tried) that should defo work on my phone but still no success
any suggestions!!!

[TyTn2 vs Trinity] Streaming Youtube

Since the pro's all hang out here and i just plain luv the community and all the hard work done here. I thought i might just ask my question here and check out if i'd get any decent answers.
Problem is like this:
My friend has an Trinity and uses the same software to stream Youtube videos.
- The Core player 0.72rc2.
- Flashvideobundle (latest).
We both use IE (normal) and have a stable Rom. Next tot that we're both connected to the same network from the same provider with the same data-bundle.
Connected to 3G in the same room we fire up IE and launch the same video from www.youtube.com (not the mobile version). Weirdly enough his phone start playing straight away with smooth video.
Mine just plays the first 5 seconden smooth, after that it just starts buffering after 5 seconds throughout the whole movie, very frustrating believe me.
Do any of you guys have or had the same problem and what were the solutions? Thanks anyway.
If i can help out others with questions regarding Flashing the Kaiser from KPN (DUtch provider) to i.e. a Dutty Rom, i'm glad to help!
Well at least it wasn't a complete stupid question cause i'm not exactly swarmed with answers
I am not familiar with the Trinity. What about it makes you think you should get the same performance?
I should get a better performance, cause the TyTn2 has better hardware?
Hi, I had a trinity, which I sold to my friend and have recently upgraded to the tytn ii.....
I'm more or less having a similar problem... find with the flash bundle and old TCPMP..... my IE just crashes on me everytime i go to the youtube page!
I've just tried playing youtube videos through google videos and that works fine. but just cant go to the youtube website!
any ideas???
hmm, well let me try playing a video through videogoogle, i'll update you with my findings.
Did the Trinity have the commercial version of Coreplayer PPC installed (some carriers give it as an added app or on CD) because the Freeware TCPMP (RPC2) has limitations playing certain streams.
If so, I'd wait for the new year and the next version.

contacted HTC UK regarding tytn II

Hi everyone.
I am new to this forum but have owned several HTC phones in the past and have always been happy with them until now!
After reading through this forum for many hours and signing the tytn II petition I decided to phone HTC UK direct and speak with their customer services department regarding the issues with the camera/Video drivers.
I spoke to a nice chap who told me that they are aware of the issue and need more people to actually phone in and tell them directly about the problem as they do not monitor the forums themselves. He also said that they will be working on a fix but need more proof as they could not replicate the problem with their own tytn II. (So,how can they be aware but not be able to replicate the problem we are all having??)
He also told me that if I where to put video footage of the problem on youtube and phone him back with the link he could forward this as proof to the relevant people............Seems a bit strange, but thats what he told me to do.
The problem is I do not posess a seperate video camera to actually video the tytn II playing video (if that makes any sense). So,if any of you lads or lasses can take some video footage of the problems and let me have the link,I will phone HTC again and get it sorted.
Do you think I was being fobbed off,and does anyone here think that the youtube video would actually be taken seriously by HTC?
Take care all..........Richard
This basically confirms what they told me and some other chaps as well:
1. They need more people calling in. Just signing the petition and discussing the matter on this forum doesn't really bring us any closer
2. They are somewhat aware of the issue but since too few people who buy this primarilly business oriented product do demending video stuff (like emulation, full res video, touch screen gaming, 3d gaming etc) they can't really see the issue on a broad scale. (Which brings us back to 1: they need more people calling support about this).
If someone has the ability to capture a video of playing a 640x480 XviD, playing a touchscreen 2D-game, trying to launch a GL ES game and trying say a demanding emulator and then uploading it to youtube then we could send the link to HTC for "proof".
I could try to capture it using mymobiler but I don't have the appropriate application for vista to do it and I don't have a video camera.
The number I phoned was a standard 0845 number so the cost of the phone call was standard rate,no expensive tech support lines which is good.
Everyone phone their local tech support lines and maybe they will finally get something done.

Yeah, right. YouTube on my Kaiser... What else, huh? Maybe free porn for everyone too? And how about PROPER BLUETOOTH HEADSET & VOICE DIALLING SUPPORT?!?!
Sorry about that, but I just can't stand all that moaning about video drivers/issues/whatever in business-oriented phone, which was definitely NOT designed to be all-you-can-eat-multimedia-monster. Of course, it would be nice to watch full-quality movies, but what I'd really, I mean *really*, like to have is properly working voice over Bluetooth headset, just like it used to work in Wizard and Hermes, just like it SHOULD work on phones such as Kaiser... This is quite serious bugger, for some even disqualifying Kaiser as a primary phone, but apparently not that many people seem to care about it, anyway.
And please, do not respond to this post - I am not going to subscribe it, so no replies will come into my mailbox. Thanks.
Hey mate.
I am replying anyway
I think you got the wrong end of the stick, not youtube videos on the kaiser, just a video posted on youtube showing the Kaiser faults so they can see for themselves the issues we are having.
I also agree with you on the bluetooth issue but for me the video is more important as I use the phone as a general entertainment device whilst travelling.
Cheers.......Richard
I've started this by doing a video of the extremely reduced performance when using the stylus.
I'll follow it up soon enough with videos of the absent GLES, and generally poor video performance. Please feel free to spread and link this as much as you want. If you want the original .avi-files let me know and I'll send them to you.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhHG377wkQU
For those of you who want to capture your own videos I recommend these applications:
http://www.mymobiler.com/ (For getting the video output of your phone on your computer screen)
http://www.etrusoft.com/screen-recorder/ (For capturing only the active video area of your phone through mymobiler)
Just capture using the default settings and then upload to youtube and presto.
It will even be a lot easier on the eye than a videocam capture.
Youtube is on the Kaiser, pr0n is free to anyone anyways
i couldnt find the number, do you mind posting the whole number so i can call them?
will also make a video tomorrow, i have Call Of Duty, and its appauling the software rendering .. because it has no hardware drivers whatsoever, only cpu =/
also eva_d, if you bought a pc with an 8800GTX, and it couldnt play an old game or even run an emulator that your 5 year old laptop could play, wouldnt you just be asking yourself: "whats the point in paying so much for it?"
Anyone have a USA Number?
Here's another one (extreme case) that shows of the lousy video performance when using directdraw:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xeb8-m5opDA
Since I already have this set up feel free to send me/link/tip about apps that I can capture videos of to show HTC. (For an example, I don't have any GL ES game at the moment)
Also make sure you rate the videos high and comment them etc.
Also if someone can capture a video of the extremely slow camera that would be nice as well.
For some reason it's not possible to capture that image using mymobiler (probably bypassing the normal interfaces for increased performance which makes it even sillier since it's so slow )

Check my signature. (Or just htc.com )
That is great, I will contact HTC UK again tomorrow morning and give them the link to the youtube video.
Post up the Uk tel number
i am still shocked that HTC could not have sorted the camera out . its like having a Aston Martin and a 8 track player to listen to music with.
huh... i will make a comparisson with my wizard xD... its really stupid that the wizard supports a simple game as Pocket breakout and the kaiser just sucks in it =/...

HTC UK technical support number http://www.europe.htc.com/en/support/csbyphone.html
I did not give them my serial number as my TyTN is a Tmobile branded MDa vario III
Since we've already have to people requesting the info:
Here are all HTC telephone numbers:

I just called HTC. The lady said she just got off the phone with someone else complaing about the exact same thing... she said it is just a falut of the Tilt. She said HTC will release a ROM update in a month or so but may or may not address the video drivers; she didn't know. She said email support and see if they know.

HTC never replies to e-mails anyway so that won't help, call again and keep pestering them 'til they go get their supervisor or call their second tier support.
I did that twice, fortunately the HTC support doesn't need much pestering to break (my ISP and cellphone operator needs constant bombardment for 10 minutes straight before they connect me to a supervisor or really go away and try to find anything out with their colleagues)
htcwiki.com
I just got off the phone with US Tech Support. No help at all. All he said was to go to http://www.htcwiki.com/ and state the issue there.

YouTube (again!)

Hi all,
I've searched and searched for this but can't find an answer.
YouTube used to work by opening up TCPMP, but it now it ties to run using Media Player (which obviously doesn't work)
I've checked the file associations in TCPMP and they are set-up as 'Flash Video' and 'MMS Protocol', which I think should work, but I still get the videos running with MP.
Can anyone help with this?
Thanks guys,
Ratzz
EDIT: Could this be because I'm now using Opera???

yes.......
oh... bugger!
My IE no longer works, thats why I use Opera.
Does anyone know of a bug with IE that wont connect - all i get are blank pages...
was having these same exact issues i think last week, youtube (which i barely bother with) now tries to open in MP no matter what i do, i think its the new mobile page, i did load up the regular youtube page as an experiment because i have been messing with tmpg as you stated you did too. But youtube just sucks w/ this phone, more then half the videos have never played for me so i quickly grew frustrated and closed the page.
Not sure what the deal is with this.. but yes ive experienced the same ****.
Also for about 2 days last week internet explorer was not working for me.
The gps battery drain is getting old, the friggin car charger they sell you will barely run the thing w/ one app open if your battery is dead, nevermind charge it. I drove all the way to work *(40mins at least) this morning and had nothing running my battery charged one little tiny line farther then it was.
Im sure someone has noticed this, its a pain in the ass for the crappy service but if you reset your phone your mobitv trial will be good again.
I bought the service and am not impressed.

Open IE go to Menu>view. Make sure "Desktop" and "Show Pictures" are unchecked it. Turn your phone off (Do not soft reset it) turn it back on.
Then open IE go to Menu>view ; and check "Desktop and Show Pictures".
That is all. You'll have IE working again.
Same problem happened to my couple times. This way really worked for me.
Good luck.
For what it's worth, I'm using opera 8.65 and using that to view gopckt.com. TCPMP with the .flv plugin (mms protocol and flash video checks) is working fine. Youtube clips download and save perfectly well on my 8gb micro sd card.

real player takes over thus no youtube

ok so Ive had my awesome tilt for a few days now and ever since i got it out of the box i dreamed of watching you tube videos and using GPS, gps is fine but when ever i go to m.youtube.com and start playing a video real player tries to play it and then i get error file not supported by real player! i have tried to look to see how to uninstall real plaer but i can find it anywhere. i downloaded flash video bundle and TCMP set it for default player for all but pictures still nothing..... i even have tried regular youtube and when click a video it says video not found possibly been removed.
Ive been looking around since i got hte thing to find a fix. i though FLV and TCPMP would do it but no luck.
any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.
use htc streaming media for the youtube mobile site. for regular youtube use fvb and tcpmp. if you're having trouble, try using opening the "video sites" link in your start menu and go to the skweezer or mobileleap link
The tilt doesn't have htc streaming media installed, you'll have to score the cab to get that. Otherwise, don't go to m.youtube.com, go to
www.youtube.com/?nomobile=1
You'll get the desktop version (essentially) of youtube, and then you'll be able to watch the vids in TCPMP.
what i dont like is how lots of videos fail to play and say they're invalid.some work and some dont
Try this...
It has its own FLV player.
I've been using the TCMP/Flashvideobundle solution and that works well for Youtube and the other sites it's designed for, but is there anything out there which will just work with any site using flash video? Does the above CAB achieve that?

Yes. YouTubePlay is a standalone application with its own FLV player. Once installed, you will see the icon under Programs.
Excellent, thanks, I'll give it a go. Presumably I need to uninstall all or part of TCMP/Flashvideobundle to stop things getting confused?

Hmm, okay well this really didn't work out so well for me. I installed it, tried a couple of flash video sites in PIE with no joy and then decided a reset must be in order, but after the (soft) reset my kaiser failed to boot It was just sat on "Smart Mobility" for about ten minutes before I got a message asking me to press send for a hard reset, because I'd either "incorrectly" turned the device of or installed software from an untrusted source. I tried a couple more soft resets, still no deal, so I've had to hard reset and am now restoring from a (week old) backup.
I'd reset a couple of times for other reasons yesterday before installing this cab, with no problems.
I guess this must be working for some looking at the posts above, but it really seems to have disagreed with my phone for some reason. I'm using the stock HTC Rom (wm6.0) if that means anything.

So, just wondering, is this just me? I guess it's unlikely that everyone will be rushing to find out, but still - is this cab working for everyone else? No problems after resetting?
My phone's all back up to speed and working fine, but I'm loathe to try this cab again obviously. I'm curious whether I'm right to blame it, or if there's something else I should be worrying about - is my phone just going to choke again a few more resets down the line? Any help appreciated.
PS - the only other unusual event with my phone recently was a brief dalliance with one of Dutty's roms last week (hence the backup). I didn't get on with it, so went back to the original HTC Rom on the same day (Thursday), restored from my Sprite backup, and everything was fine from then till yesterday evening, resets and all.
works fine but room for improvement
im not sure why that happened im using stock at&t rom also. you are going strart) programs ) youtube player right ? cuz its its own player
ill admit its not the best. after a minute or so the audio stops and secounds later the screen shuts off
and the scroll menus are a bit awkawerd
but then again before this cab I couldn't watch youtube so im happy with it.. and I belie this is the offical one from youtube so im sure its just going to get better & better

Guys...
This is a STANDALONE programme. In other words, you start the app, you search for a video, eg, sugar sugar or thunderstruck or whatever you want, it takes a few seconds (or minutes depending on search string used) to find videos, then it displays thumbnails. You select the thumbnail you want and it plays flawlessly. This has nothing to do with PIE. If you want to play flash video with PIE, then you MUST use TCPMP with the flash video bundle.
I trust that this clarifies things.
BTW I have a TyTN II with stock standard ROM.
why dont you guys just point him to the link?
this will tell you everything about youtubeplay.

Watching live video from a website

Before anyone goes and gets upset about my question, let me say that I've looked through the forums and I have tried everything listed from tcmp to youtube player (even though i'm not watching it through youtube) So here's the problem: I am having trouble getting my tilt to allow me to watch live videos from a website. It's live racing from the http://www.doverdowns.com website. I upgraded to wm 6.1 and was able to watch them maybe twice.... it's been a few months though and now it wont even attempt to load. I have not changed anything with the phone and I have no clue what happened. Please let there be someone nice enough to help me out or at least point me in the right direction to help myself. I appreciate it.
