From what I read, they were just yanking them out of the AT$T stores, but they would still be made and available in online stores.

yea i saw on att.com that you can still buy them online only

as of about 9:30 EST today the tilt is nolonger avalible via systemX and only a very limited number of refurbs avalible on line.
p.s. systemX is the replenishment system for AT&T

Walmart.com has them in stock and pretty cheap with the contract renewal.

AT&T had announced some time ago that it is moving to ONE OS for smartphones, and that it has chosen Symbian, with the possible exception of the iPhone/OSX.
Any one know if this is actually going to happen, and when? Cuz it means of course, no more WinMo phones, no more PalmOS, isn't even clear if they'll keep RIM...

AT&T is to Reduce Smartphone OS Support to one or two platforms
Posted by SK in December 8th, 2008
http://www.cellphonesmarket.com/news/tag/att-symbian/
AT&T is looking to reduce the number of phone operating systems supported by its own-brand phones to just one or two platforms. Speaking at the Symbian Partner Conference, Roger Smith, director of next-generation services at AT&T, warned that Java based handsets had been problematic, mainly due to in-house management issues - and hinted that Symbian

AT&T dreams of single smartphone OS, will probably keep dreaming
Published 12/5/2008 by Darren Murph at Engadget Mobile
... Okay, so we fully understand that it would make life a lot easier on AT&T if every smartphone on its network used the same operating system, but we're not so sure we like the idea of losing the whole "ability to choose." Speaking at the Symbian Partner Event in San Francisco, AT&T's Roger Smith (director of next generation services, data product realization at AT&T) reportedly stated that he wanted to "standardize on a single operating system for AT&T-branded smartphones as part of a dramatic consolidation of its mobile platforms over the next few years." ...

Single OS for smartphones desired by AT&T, possibly Symbian
Published 12/6/2008 by James at Phones Review
... Basically, AT&T believes the smartphone will become the largest portion of mobile phones connecting to their network come 2014, and wishes to avoid platform fragmentation which makes it difficult to develop mobile apps. Speaking at the Symbian Partner Event in San Francisco, Roger Smith, director of next generation services, data product realization at AT&T said that Symbian is very credible and a likely candidate to become the singular operating system. I have contacted BBC Watchdog about XDAIIi

I have contacted BBC Watchdog (for those outside of UK - a consumer affairs watchdog that puts companies on the spot for mis-sold products) about the Blackberry update promised from O2 and how that ad for blackberry support has been removed with customer services saying there are no plans (despite what other people on this forum have said many times in the past) I would urge all other XDA IIs/i owners to do the same, if Watchdog get many of the same complaints - they will action it. We have to put O2 on the spot, enough is enough and it's time to bite back. This is what I sent:
I purchased an XDA IIi in February this year because O2 advertising said that a future rom update would allow me to pick up Blackberry emails. Since then and after many phone calls to their customers service departments, the new son the blackberry update has been withdrawn and customer services at O2 say there is no plans to release an update. There are many complaints like this on an XDA site run by enthusiasts but it seems O2 have turned their back on us. This model cost me a lot of money and was top of their range all year.
XDA still advrertising Blackberry support
Hi,
GOTO http://www.my-xda.com/xda2s_what.html and under 'Email & personal organiser' they are still advertising support for blackberry early 2005. Take a screen shot and email it to wathdog..!

RE: BBC Watchdog - WM2005
Good idea. I have now contacted Watchdog about 02s' customer support regarding the WM2005 on the XDA IIi, please see the message I sent them below. I would suggest that any body else interested in the WM2005 upgrade for the Alpine, send a message to BBC Watchdog, I think this method would be more persuasive on 02 than the petition, although still useful.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/index.shtml
Hi,
I am just contacting you regarding the appalling customer service from 02, the mobile phone provider.
They have been contacted by many many people about why they have sold their latest PDA/Phone the XDA IIi(Generic name 'HTC Alpine'), with all the latest processor hardware etc, but only installed the previous release of 'Windows Mobile 2003SE and not the current Microsoft Operating System 'Windows Mobile 2005'. Even though other manufacturers are offering backwood upgrades, in many cases 02 refuse to even contact you if you have made a email enquiry or some get a standard answer ie. "The hardware is not compatible", which of course is rubbish as Microsoft designed a test install of WM2005 for their staff on the previous 02 release the XDA II (Generic name 'Hymalaya). As is usual with the majority of customer helpdesks, they are only mouthpieces and have no way of offering any real or useful information to assist their customers in any meaningful way, although I'm sure the management mouthpieces would disagree!
These PDA/Phones cost alot of money and we as customers should not be ripped off by 02, they must do better, now please.
If you need some more for information go to this site http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php , you will find plenty more people who are not happy. As you can see you'll get better support from this user run site than from the PDA companies!
Watchdog will not get involved with a WM2005 issue, O2 never promised it, never mentioned compatibility with future OS', and the main point being, don't even make the XDA devices, HTC do.
Alan I am an optimist and very much hope that if we complain enough, we can at least get some useful commincation out of O2 for a can. The XDA IIi has better hardware than many current WM5 devices. There's no reason why it can't run it so if we apply enough pressure, someone may listen.
This is why other manufacturers like Dell and HP remain an attractive and popular choice for users - they offer rom upgrade paths - they don't just dump their customers and move on like O2 have always done.
Alan, Do you work for 02? Sounds like it!
BBC Watchdog is not just about consumer law, it is about customers who feel they have been treated badly by cash grabbing companies who lack any real responsibilty towards their paying customers.
Have you not watched the program? Many companies have relented after customers have their problems aired on the program. We Alpine owners are not asking 02 anything unreasonable it is 02 who are being ignorant and evasive.
I have nothing to do with O2, I personally detest them, but you have to realise that the vast majority of XDA2i users would not be able to tell you what version of the OS it currently runs, let alone knowing there is the option of an upgrade to anything.
The people here are a very small minority of users who are the gadget lovers, geeks, and tech heads, O2, i-mate, qtek, T-Mobile, Orange, Vodafone, in fact, everyone that sells these things know they can ignore people like us because there are so few of us in comparison to the majority of customers who will blindly buy all the new versions without complaint.
Because *most* companies fail to offer any upgrade path, it becomes acceptable for none to offer it, so therefore, someone who knows nothing about these will argue we aren't being ripped off.
We know it's a raw deal, but this has been going on with WinCE devices for years now, and they never get any better, I very much doubt they will do now.
oh Alan!!!
your not a very excitable person are you...
No, not when it comes to things like this.
I have seen it happen too many times, a device is abandoned when it's this old usually.
The only way we will get 2005 is if a network releases it with 2005 and we copy it, or if a beta or development build is leaked as happened with the XDA2 or XDA2s.
There will be no official upgrade to 2005 for any of us because it would cost the company too much money to support. If it's leaked, and we trash our devices, the company doesn't have to worry about supporting it, and all the issues and questions about upgrading aren't their problem either.
Have I missed something here, what is so spectacularly superb about 2005? It will come with it's own set of bugs and incompatibilities.
Don't you people know anything about Microsoft yet?
I don't think BBC Watchdog would address this. This is because its a very specialised subject, something that won't bother 99.99% of the people who watch the program - they are there to address common issues which will affect many more people...
I think you'd have much more luck writing to the watchdog page of a specialist pocketpc magazine (don't know any off the top of my head) because it will affect a much larger percentage of their audience.
Well it is worth a try anyway. If Watchdog do a piece on bad support and high charges for mobiles etc, which I think is relevent to most users wether techy or not.they may include our bit as well.
I'll be looking at some mobile review sites and see if there are some high profile ones to address this issue too, at least \i'm trying, which is better than accepting the status quo.
Actually, I donly really mind not getting WM5 - it won't change how I use the device - but I do mind then ongoing issue with Blackberry Connect. Hopefully this will be sorted next week - but if past history is anything to go by, I'm not holding my breath!
O2 Blackberry upgrade?
So has O2 confirmed the new rom for next week then? There seems to be one person who says so...... any insiders? Tekguru?

I agree, not bothered particularily about WM5 as that was never advertised as one of the capabilities of the phone, Blackberry however was.
O2 should definately sort this out, Blackberry was one of the reasons for getting the phone, I've been waiting 6 months now despite being told by O2 that it was due in the spring , it's not good enough.
Slightly off topic but...
WM2005 would give you support for email push from MS Exchange servers, or from web companies providing the service, as opposed to specific Blackberry based systems.
This will seal the market on a corporate level for future roll outs as most companies will already have an Exchange server, and this will integrate well.
At the end of the day if you bought the device with word from the company that sold it to you telling you it would do something in the future that made you buy the device then withdrew this they are at fault. False advertising. As for watchdog not being interested, i'm sure theres many more things 02 and a whole host of other phone companies have and are doing wrong that merits them being put on the spot, problem is has watchdog got the balls to take on such giant organisations?
They've done it with much bigger companies, but the point is it won't satisfy a large enough number of viewers so in their eyes it won't be worth showing. Only a certain number of people are on O2, and a really tiny number choose the XDA2i, and only a small number of those are bothered by the issue in question. Whilst it's a very valid complaint, it doesn't make good TV.
No I agree. So maybe people ought to e-mail with all sorts of different complaints, that way they might dedicate more time for a section on rip off phone companies! At the end of the day you can't win, especially with phone companies, they screw you but just try not to get screwed up about it!

so who's switching to the new iphone in a month?

New iphone??
Seems like 3G iphone is ready for delivery. I wonder if it has GPS as well. That could very well make it something to consider as an alternative to the Kaiser... I love my Kaiser, but my wife has an iphone and it does do certain things better. With Jailbreak, there are plenty of cool apps too. I even found a voice command app. Pretty much fill most of the gaps...
but it still doesnt have the hardware qwerty keyboard for me and i'm not a iphone fanboy...just me though
I'll jump ship to the iphone if they update their browser to support flash. i'm still disappointed that after all this time (deepfish, opera 9.5 beta) their isnt a comparable browser out there for windows mobile. Opera mini is really good, but not as good as it could get
Steve Jobs is going to have a press conference on monday 6/9 (which is today for some users). I hear that at&t were able to get him to commit to release the new iphone at $199.99 w/2 year contract.

Vodacom which has the largest user base in South Africa has been granted the distribution rights for the Iphone. Vodacom is 50% owned by Vodafone and 50% by Telkom, the local fixed line operator.
We will be getting the gereration 2 version, but apart from it's 3G capabilities we will have to wait for the announcement today. Shipping will apparently start immediately.
The only down side here is that we do not have a Itunes Store so we cannot use that side of it's functionality.

Nice to know that there are other South Africans here!!!
I am not an iPhoney fan anyway, so I will wait for the TyTN III or the SE Xperia X1 maybe.
In the meantime my TyTN II ROCKS!!!
Again, good to meet you boet!!!

WWDC starts at 10 AM PDT, we will get the final specifications then but sites like engadget say:
- It will be 3G (a given, any phone is nowadays)
- But it will not have a front-facing camera for videoconferencing (it seems that it's not a known thing in USA, so if USA does not want it, Apple does not include it)
- It will have GPS receiver (nothing surprising, adding GPS to a phone is only $5)
- No hardware keyboard, typing with finger on a 2.8" screen does not convince me
- As always, closed system, very vendor-centric, very few applications you can run there.
I thought they moved to an open source setup.
I know this is a dumb question, but I rather ask then not know at all. Will the 3G IPhone be able to flash the Window 6.1 instead of there OS. I ask because I don't know if it was a Hoax or if it was for real.......I saw a Iphone that had the WM6 on it. This was a while ago that I saw it............
edit:
I looked more closely, it's not only a hoax it is a fake Iphone...........I'm sorry for this waste of space I just used up..
3g Iphone....
So 199 out July 11th... think it will be unlocked by then? If so might need to try it out, even though I hate apple with a passion.
Just announced... 3G iPhone... For those who care, Engadget link.
I'm thinking I'm going to try out that new iphone. If it sucks and I don't like it, I'm only out $200 and then I can most likely sell it on ebay for more than i paid...haha.
is it 200 with a new contract or without?
i'd suspcect with
as apple cant get their cut of each mb downloaded if iphone3gs are sold without a contract
Personally I still cringe inside regarding the Iphone. My next phone will be either a X1, HTC Touch Diamond Pro, or the Nokia N96 (can't go wrong with an internal 16GB + SD slot for additional memory + accelatometer(sp?). Variety and change is always good though.
I'm sad that it still uses the same lame camera
I kinda wanted an iPhone but only if it had GPS...the new one does....hmmmm....let's see!!!

What company would you get rid off the planet?

I made this thread because I'm pretty sure other threads are made of this topic but I wanted to create a newer one since all these new products are coming out.
I would choose Apple because:
1)Selling over priced, under powered (for the price) computers that have no customization (well barely and I mean like building your own)
2) Changing the animal on their OS, add a .1, add features that can come in an update, and calling it a whole new OS.
3) Selling the iPhone and making the iPad (the iPod touch seems like the only good Apple Product). They don't know what the term "smart" phone means. I mean no multi tasking, boring, un-creative UI. The features in the iPhone/iPad may have been ground breaking 7 years ago but not today.
4) How it makes the fanboyz/fangirlz go crazy about the product because they hypnotized them about how they are good and the other companies are evil. The fanboyz/fangirlz are mad because they spent a lot of cash on an over priced piece of doo-doop) and they have to unleash their anger on past mistakes of another company while forgetting about the new features in the product today.
I like only one thing of apple products and mostly their software for computers: They have pretty good video editing software and that is pretty much it.
Unleash your inner fanboy/fangirl and just rant.
Apple has done a lot for the world though, with the ipod influencing other MP3 players, as well as showing that the linux based operating system can be used in mainstream media. I'd go more with AT&T and verizon mostly because of the monopolies that they have on the cell phone market right now. I'd rather have no contract phones which allow a pay per use plan. Either that or Walmart because of their screwing consumers.
All the oil/petroleum companys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you completely. Don't forget Quicktime (terrible UI and runs background services), iTunes (way to lock up music, Apple), iPods (same dial, same disk space, half the price elsewhere), and the iPod touch (what's the purpose or purchasing a stand-alone portable media wifi device again? that must come in real handy on the beach, in clubs, bars, and everywhere else wifi doesn't exist).
Also, who can really respect a company that basically releases dumbed-down technology basically saying that their customers are slow and stupid and lack self-respect when it comes to not being able to customize their portable devices? Notice how in the Windows Phone 7 Series walk-through found on MSDN today, the president/manager of the project said, "If you buy the phone we are going to let you customize it."
Also, special mention for Verizon, who really has worked hard to rip off the average consumer.
verizon. worst company ever.
AT$T has to go. This is undoutedly the worst company in the world. They have their heads so far up Apple's ass they should be called Apple T$T.
They simply do not care that people hate them, they have no new phones, except updated Tilts and Diamonds. They have the absolute worst customer service
http://digitaldaily.allthingsd.com/...sumer-reports-best-cell-phone-service-survey/
Latest example: My wife and I split ( no big deal , long time coming ) she decided that she wanted to take the iPhone that I bought her and the Propel that I bought her son, both of which I had put on my account, and get her own acount with AT$T. Without any notice to me, AT$T allowed her to take the phones and signed her up to two new two year contracts, and as I only found out yesterday, charged me with $300 dollars in early termination fees. When I challenged them on this, they said that I can always continue to pay for the numbers until the contract runs out. I asked them , since they allowed her to take the phone off of my account, why don't they just terminate the contract.
They informed me that the contract was for the numbers not the handsets. And that who ever was using the handsets, was out of their control. They further said that the contracts are meant to offset the subsidizing of the phones. I clearly pointed out that holding me to the balance of the original contract for the phones and then signing them up to two new two year contracts for the same two phones, was " double dipping " and that any reasonable customer service rep who wanted to keep a 7 year customer with four phones on AT$T would see that by cancelling the two contracts, AT$T was not losing any money and had infact guaranteed themselves more money by signing the ex and her son to two new 2 year contracts.
At which point they continued their mantra " the contract was for the phone numbers, not the phones themselves. " At which point, I cancelled the two phones that I had that were out of contract. Put the ex and her son's # on suspended service for $9.99 a month until the contract expires. And now must make a decision on what to do with my iPhone in July when that contract runs out. In the last seven years, I have paid AT$T $ 10,000- $14,000 in connection fees, and some dope in their customer service dept is forcing me to go elsewhere over $300 in early termination fees that are being paid for by " double dipping " in another account. Stupidity like this has got to go.
Where would this company be if Steve Jobs decides to yank there heads out of his butt ?
Oh Yeah, iPhone, Mac Book, iPod touch, 2 iMacs, U2 iPod classic = Apple Fanboy here.
Everybody hates the people who " get it "
Rogers Wireless, which used to be Rogers AT&T. We're seeing a pattern here
Probably AT&T. AT&T has terrible service nearly everywhere, crappy customer service (moreso than most telcos), and poor overall selection of devices.
Ever since the iPhone was introduced, AT&T has basically given up on maintaining their network at a usable level. The worst is when you call their terrible customer service only to be greeted by a voice announcing that they are "home of the iPhone" before you actually get help. I don't hate the iPhone, I have a few of them in fact, but I hate how AT&T having exclusivity over the iPhone has led to them ignoring all other aspects of their company.
They've almost forgotten about Windows Mobile and have completely ignored Android and WebOS devices, instead opting for more feature phones, because we all need more $20 Nokias and Samsungs. AT&T stopped trying once they got exclusivity of the iPhone, figuring that they wouldn't have to actually get business by being good at what they do, but rather by forcing people into switching in order to get their desired device.
If you don't believe me about the terrible customer service, I have a story for you. For Christmas of 2009, my mother and sister wanted iPhone 3GSes to replace their aging original iPhones. My father I waited to go to the AT&T store until the night before, because one of the incompetent CS representatives we talked to over the phone said that the original iPhones would deactivate, and we didn't want them deactivated for very long, should they need their phones. However, this was untrue, meaning we had to wait in long lines on Christmas Eve when we could have bought the iPhones months ago with no negative effects
After we finally got served by a representative, we were told that the bill we had mailed out almost two weeks ago still hadn't been processed yet, and in order to pay the lower upgrade price instead of the full retail price (~$500), we would have to pay the bill at the store, and have the check we mailed out be credited to our account. After we did that, the lady sold us the iPhones, which seemed fine. Except it wasn't fine, since she upgraded of the iPhones on my father's account, instead of my mother's which was a pain to deal with when we bought my father an iPhone a few weeks later. After we finally got the iPhones and drove home, we immediately got a call from the AT&T store, letting us know that the woman who sold us the iPhones had forgotten to put one of them back in the box after activating it, meaning we had to drive back again and pick up the phone which they forgot. The moral of this story is that AT&T is a horrible company, and a good portion of their customer service representatives are incapable of doing their jobs properly or giving correct information.
I actually have a few more AT&T stories to share, but I think I'd probably run past the 10,000 character post limit were I to share them all
AT&T...I left them a few years ago because of their ripoff plans, iphonia, no customer support, etc.

RIM ( Blackberry )>$70.40
Nokia>$13.35
Motorola>$7.05
Palm>$9.31
HTC Corp.>$9.65

I'm hoping that this is sarcasm and that you realize that this is actually support against Apple's dominance. Stock prices for the most part are based on hype and a LACK of knowledge about a company. There's more idiots than smart people in the US, so a company like Apple should thrive. George W. Bush got elected twice. There are plenty of idiots around to think Apple is worth it.

Glad to know
They should be!
They are going down..................
They are starting to rott at this very moment!
Yeah the latest comments from Cupertino always hit the I'm With Adobe FB group and we laughed hysterically when this one came around.
Denial, much?
You guys crack me up, Are " you " in denial much ?
Apple makes ONE phone yes ONe, One, oNe, yes 1 phone. In the 1Q they cornered 7 percent of the market with a year old phone. With one phone. How many Android phones are there ?
Even though everyone knows the new 4G is coming out in June, they still sold 7% of the market, with ONE phone . How many Nexus One's did Google sell ? 7% of the market ? No !.....How many Eris' did HTC sell ? 7% of the market ? Hero's , MyTouches, Desires, Incredibles ? Not even with Verzion " giving " them away 2 for 1. ( The giveaway phones were added into the survey of course)
Seriously, Apple has sold 50 million iPhones, does anyone not in denial, really think that Motorola is going to sell 50 million Droids ?
Apple is really quaking. Wake me after the 4G comes out and Verizon stops having to giveaway phones to get people to buy them, and then see if the numbers change.
Or better yet wake me when Google sells 50 million Nexus Ones,
As much as we hate it, he's right. One phone on one carrier that's almost one year old makes 7% of the marketshare with a new one already known to come out. Their are soooo many Windows Mobile and Android phones on several different carriers, even if they did sell as much or come close to that ammount, Apple still has it beat with one phone, one carrier, one year old when everyone knew a new one was being released! I by no means even have one bit of likeness (is it even a word) for Apple but they are successful. It's just a fad like everything else. Eventually their will be something newer and better,

If Google was arrogant and conceited enough to put all their eggs in one basket, I'm sure they'd be outselling the iPhone right about now. The novelty is over. As novelty fades, functionality takes over (see Nintendo's recent drop in sales for more information). But the reality is that Google isn't dumb enough to monopolize the hardware and instead spreads their OS across multiple hardware platforms. Even Microsoft knows this. That being said, expect a continued increase in Android dominance.
Apple's desire to control the public and the market in general has negative side effects. As much as I hate Apple, they could DOUBLE their profits if they released their OS to PCs. Instead, they'd rather control the market and eventually face tons of monopoly lawsuits in the future, eventually forcing them to comply with the public desire.
It's sad when Apple fanboys don't get it. Saying that they did that with one phone, one OS, on one carrier means absolutely nothing. The proof is in numbers. You can't say that if they released it on many different hardware units on many carriers then they would dominate. Why? Because they didn't do it. It's not their strategy. And thus, because they chose so, they have now been lapped. I still have yet to make sense of why Apple defends their exclusive contract with AT&T. They could easily triple their profits if they came out with a CDMA version (yet their exclusive contract goes to 2012).
And talk all you want about 4G but most people have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to the next generation. AT&T 4G is at least a year out. AT&T is next releasing a 3G+ expansion, but even that will be behind (and sometimes relying on) T-Mobile's 3G+ network. Sprint claims to have 4G ready (even though all 4G tests in the US show similar speeds to 3G+), but only in a few markets. CDMA carriers will be ready for 4G roll-out beyond the top 10 metros in 2012. But leave it to Apple fanboys to think 4G (maturing in 2012) is months away, especially since they also seem to think HTML5 is months away (2022 for maturity).
You're definitely right. Apple sold ONE phone. ONE PHONE. And took 7% of the market. That's definitely amazing. Think about what they could do if they sold 10 phones! You're absolutely right. Think about it. But not too much, because they were dumb enough not to. And now, they have been lapped. Oops. I guess we now know the part of the body responsible for long-term marketing and consumer satisfaction is actually located in the liver (a part Jobs recently traded out).
Hypotheticals can't be used as an argument. The iPhone could have very well sold 4 times as much as Android and Windows phones combined, if they marketed different phones and different carriers. But they didn't. And so they lose. Unfortunately, Apple and their fanboys won't learn the lesson that's pretty obvious to everyone else.
Sure, it's easy to sell 50 million toys compared to classy high tech devices!

hahaha, a long article attempting to claim closed systems are better. Nice. Considering Google is the leading company when it comes to push updates (balanced nicely without saying "F U" to their customers). Software and OTA updates are still relatively new in the mobile field. Even Windows Mobile 6.5 has a Windows Update function that has never been used! Google pushed multitouch OTA. Who else has done that? Android will continue to gain steam as they cater to developers (Oops, Apple dropped the ball on that one). They will gain steam as Android becomes the popular technology device to purchase, that also includes the ability to do things for less money.
I'm pretty confident in Google. I have a Windows Mobile phone, so I'm not necessarily against seeing different versions of an OS floating around as a bad thing. If you're Android phone doesn't have the ability to update to the latest OS, then go out and buy another one that does. Apple fanboys purchase updated hardware for less of a difference.
It's a shame for all Apple fanboys. It's like Yankee fans dealing with a losing season by talking about pennants from 1923 (like anyone cares about 1923).
(at least we can agree that we hate the Yankees, denco7 )

Windows Phone 7 Marketing

Morning peeps,
just a mention, i'm quite amazed with the lack of marketing for the HD7.
Just walked into a o2 shop to confirm if the HD7 is still on for 21st Oct and the answer was YES. But there no HD7 pics or notice on the o2 shop front.... why?
2 days left and no advertising...
It was exactly the same last year with the release of the HD2 and I imagine it happens all the time with new phones.
Last year they released the HD2 without marketing online or in any of the UK shops, but by lunchtime they had sold out their stocks. It was the same story over at Vodaphone UK.
Remember, you're probably not the only person to have walked into the shop and asked for the HD7 and I can imagine demand will be high for the first few weeks. After that HTC will probably have more units made.

cool, but as i recall correctly, IPHONE 4 was marketed much better and well before its release. why not just copy it
I agree, Apple are good at that. MS doesn't have any real say over the OEMs and it is HTC supplying the devices to O2. HTC are also supplying several models on launch day, so I imagine they don't have all their factories making one model. AT the end pof the day we will never know.
Lets just hpe we don't have the hardware mess that was the iPhone antennae
So far here in the UK I haven't seen any advertising for Windows Phone 7. The only ads I've seen are ones I've found myself through reading about WP7 on sites like engadget and other tech news sites. If I was a member of Joe public, I'd have no clue it existed unless I'd actively been looking on Orange's website at phone upgrades.
Maybe I haven't been hanging around bus stops enough to see the advertising posters?
I agree I haven't seen anything either. I do recall knowing about the new iPhone 4 about a week before it was released, I think MS has missed the boat here.
The marketing of the features on this phone is truly a disappointment. My single favourite feature is the wireless sync. My brother always tells me hes jealous for that feature alone (he has an iphone 4). But most likely no one will hear about this and apple will introduce it in their next update and it will be the greatest thing that apple has done and all microsoft can do is sit there and say we had that first.
