XIP port problem - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i had used this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2813417#post2813417
but when i flash new rom the built doesn't change...

I don't know, but maybe this info page shows only the
version of "sys", not of "xip".
But i got just a question, I'm trying to port a xip as well
(21109). Did you use Xipporter.exe or the full manual way?
Mine hangs at boot.

try the new rom kitchen I linked to, or at least watch the videos, seems very easy to use for me.

Well, there are a couple ways to go about this.
1. You can get rid of the entire built in software set, and flash a new ROM, like the stock HTC ROM. That will get you the stuff I think you were expecting. But that's not an easy thing to do. If you don't know what a ROM is or what flashing one is. I suggest you don't consider this idea.
or
2. you can try to install some of the stuff you expected piecemeal on top of your exisitng software. This works fine. It may not be the best way to go about it, but its certainly easier and safer. To do this, you can get alot of the software at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332438
that is the stickied thread for "latest cabs". Cabs are installable programs. The one you most likely are lookign for is the HTC Home app. Its there. Download it, install it. There's also a configurator program that can be used also. Download and install that.
Hope that helps get you going.
thanks
i think i will just try the second idea
Probably a good idea...Also I just noticed the HTC Home Customizer isn't in that thread. It may have been removed since it's now got its own site. It's still free. You can download it fromhere:
http://www.pocketemu.com/download.html
I have the Orange TyTn ll and I have the HTC screen without having to flash the ROM. People have had problems when flashing the ROM's on Orange.
I am using the Kaiser_htc.home.v2.0.814.722.cab > Customisable home plug in found in the Collection of the Latest Cabs for kaisers Sticky post.
Without this site I would not have a clue about these things as I have only had mine for 10 days and its my first one!!
Thanks to all contributors to this site (However small)

Based on my recent experience i would say you are just gonna have to search and search and try and fail. I'm still having issue porting newer XIP and SYS's but u just gotta stick with it. A WHOLE LOT OF SEARCHING TOO!!!! Everything you need is on here (i know ur gonna hate reading that) you just have to do a lot of searching and googling and trying. It really helps if u start from a stock ROM so u can see how its decompresses and its structure. We will help as much as we can.. Good Luck.

Did you see anything missing in the thread on the blackstone forum? I thought it was really thorough.
How to Cook Roms
Okay there's plenty of people ask about cooking roms.
There's a good thread started on the Blackstone forums to teach it. It'll work as well for X1 as for the HD.

I didn't see that when i was searching around but i saw that a lot of tutorials just don't work. I used a couple tutorials to port the XIP and SYS and none of them worked. I finally just dumped someone's ROM and tried to build packages and tried to see which SYS folders needed to be moved over. Although that is failing now lol... That is the only thing that i didn't see in the thread that you posted was how to port the XIP and SYS. Maybe i just missed it i kinda just glanced.

have you tried bepe's package rebuilder? it's not bad at all.
Yea i've used that but i can never get the SYS port to function correctly. I think i keep forgetting a step or something cause its apparent i got it to work once For the XIP port i just xipportex. That is like the greated thing since sliced bread

?? how to modify an OEM package (i guess) on a ROM ??

Hi! I'd like to know if it is possible to modify an OEM package on a rom. I'm not sure this is how it's called. What I mean is that i'd like to remove some programs that are automatically installed after a new rom is installed (when winmo launches for the first time).. like the custom taskbar or the 4 rows in the start menu..
Actually, i already dumped some roms but then i don't really know how to recombine the files, also don't know nothing about signing, unsigning them and can't qite figure why some programs are asking for bin files instead of nbh (or nbf)
Thanks in advance for your time
id also like to know please :].
maybe someone can create a video? that would be a good way to help others with clarity..
well, seems to be quite a difficult task.. i figured the cook has to provide his ERV file for us to be able to modify his rom (even for a slight modification...) tough luck it is :s
There are quite a few kitchen thread for rhodium! Have you searched and looked? I dont think I understand what you say anyways!!
Look for the kitchen here, and read the thread. Most of your questions has been answered in this forum oneway or the other.
Are you using a kitchen now? If so, what is it? And why not ask for help in the kitchen thread?

Cannot rebuild stock ROM

I am still a noob, searching already for days and not having a solution. I would be grateful if someone can guide me:
I try to teach myself to cook (a ROM). As an exercise I dumped the new S2 Europe stock rom with Ervius visual kitchen 1.82 in order to immediately recreate it back (with PP = 18 and "real wm6.5 AKA" checked). rebuilding and flashing is OK, but Rhodium is stuck on the logo screen. I also tried different radios - (91 original & 77) with no results.
By the way, i did this exercise with the previous stock rom ("S") and it worked.
Can someone give a hand?

you need to recmod(module to file) NTFconfig.dll, you will find it in the notification manager pkg
we now have a new forum section called Chef Central, you should go read some there and if you have any more cooking questions just ask there we will try to help you.
Wow, what a quick answer! thanks. I am just about to go through the "chef central". Please allow a quick question: I was under the impression that "opening" and "closing" the same stock ROM will require no modifications. Why am I wrong?

honestly im not sure why, maybe the dumping tools are dumping it as a module when its supposed to be a file all i know is that if you recmod that file it should boot
It's not problem with dumping tools, it is problem with platformrebuilder, it has problems handling this module, just as some others (try reversmodding phcanImages in dialer). Not sure why, without bepe we can't solve it any other way, than using it as file.

[Q] Just a small question about flash

Hi all!
I just bought a Touch pro 2 from a user that came with an old Energy rom
I allready checked many tuturials and videos but by fear its my first time flashing a rom into a pda.
Since it came with the old energy rom it is HardSpl allready.
My question is: Do i just need to run task29 to wipe out old rom and install the Energy.RHODIUM.21914.Sense2.5. and its all done or do i need any further proccedure?
sorry about asking but im just affraid to brake it, its so AWASOME this Phone!
cheers!

That's pretty much it. Task29, then run the ROM file of your choice (either over the SD card or over Active Sync). Some suggest to hard reset after your new ROM boots up. Just to make sure you start from a blank slate I guess? Although Task29 should more than take care of this.
After that, just load your programs of choice, sync your contacts, etc.
Its a little intimidating to flash for the first time. But once you've done it, you'll realize how easy it actually is. Just make sure your phone is charged up enough on each step, and don't mess with the phone or your desktop computer while you flash (and don't let it go to sleep or screensaver), and you'll be fine.

I did saw that post like many others in here allready including videos ...but the fear to do something wrong is always present thats why i wanted to listen a direct voice tolding me thatt that is right!
For example in the task29 topic it says : connect via Activesinc, Run task29 (there is no task29.exe file there, just RomupdateUtility. is this one we must run ?
After that its just need to get into bootscreen and flash the new rom by the PC?
cheers

That's correct, whether you flash Task29, a custom ROM, or a new radio, they all utilize the same RUU interface.
Ok, i will give it a try and hope everything run ok
Very appreciate for your help redpoint73, thanks a lot
cheers
thanks a lot again redpoint 73 , it all went good and the rom is now up and running and im loving its smooth and steady

Your very welcome. Easy, right? It quickly goes from something you're scared of, to an addiction!
Also, be sure to charge your battery to 100%, then let it drain to 0%, and do this once or twice to get the battery meter calibrated. Lots of people will flash a new ROM and freak out at the battery readings, thinking their battery life is all screwed up. When in reality, its just that they haven't given the battery meter a chance to get calibrated accurately.
which one is the energyrom reference series
i currently have a energy rom installed i just dont know if my device is over clocked
it just seems really slow

You'd be best off asking questions about EnergyROM in the EnergyROM thread
As for overclocking, if you haven't installed specific overclocking tools, or a ROM that includes overclocking (Energy's doesn't) then you don't have overclocking.
Op please read sticky before posting and nearly all ROM threads have a guide regards flashing.
Not ROM Development thread closed.
