Hi,
I have a Vodafone VPA Compact II (HTC Wizard) in German.
I will relocate to USA and I want to update my phone OS etc. into English (Cingular ROM).
I know that I have to first unlock my phone and I used both Lokiwiz02b and aWizard 1.3 beta 2 in order to unlock my phone. And these programs let me know that my phone is unlocked.
"Your phone is now unlocked...."
I have tried both "U. Unlock" and "C. CID Unlock (SuperCID)".
Than I have tried to install Cingular ROM "RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship.exe" but I still get error msg 294.
Than I tried other Cingular file "Cingular_Custom_AKU2.3_Combo_Installer_V1.exe" and it was installed without any problem. But I have still German in my phone. As I understand this file installs only Extended ROM of Cingular.
Now I need to install an English ROM and when possible a Cingular one.
Any tip?

I have found a solution.
Lokiwiz02b does not work for AKU2 ROMs. I've just downgraded my ROM into an older version and than applied Lokiwiz02b CID unlock with success.
Than I upgraded my ROM into new Cingular 8125 one and works great!

T-Mobile/Generic ROM on Cing. 8125?

I recently purchased a Cingular 8125 and am waiting for it to show up in the mail. I am a T-Mobile subscriber and plan on unlocking the 8125 as soon as I get it so I can use it with the T-Mobile network, after performing a ROM upgrade.
My question is this: I'm assuming that since it is a Cingular phone, it's going to be pre-loaded with Cingular crap. Not that the T-Mobile crap is any better, but is there a way to install the T-Mobile (or generic/unbranded, like Qtek or I-Mate) ROM onto the 8125?
I mean, the MDA and 8125 are both HTC Wizards, and the hardware is the same, right? The button layout is just different? Would the T-Mobile ROM work on the 8125? Or even better, is there a generic non-branded ROM that I could install on the 8125?

You can flash the 8125 to the current MDA ROM using Risodoro's instructions.

Unlock your 8125 - CID unlock the phone with lokiwiz 0.2b -
download T-mobile latest ROM from here

Connect through activesync
run the downloaded file, follow upgrade instructions on screen.
That's it, I did it, and it works fine...Good Luck

Where can I get Lokiwiz 0.2b?
I downloaded the one that was in these forums, but it doesn't have any of the tools needed. Lokiwiz 0.3a has them, but it's missing "pdocwrite.exe" and "preboot.exe"...

ERROR: ITWriteDisk - An internal error occurred." and I still can't install the T-Mobile ROM.
IPL and SPL are 2.25, that means it's a G3, right? How do I CID unlock this?

G4 Stuck at Bootloader after Flashing

I posted this in another thread, but I think there are enough people having this problem (and too few answers), so I'm making a new thread.
I just got a warranty replacement 8125 (G4). My previous G3 was running Molski's 30MB 2.26 rom, and before that Mr. Clean. I want to run the G4 version of Molksi's 30MB rom, but when I flash it, it only will reboot to the bootloader. I tried several other G4 roms from the ftp site including Risidoro's and the OEM Cingular roms, and the only one that will boot is Molski's non-30MB rom. Even then, the extended rom never kicks in after 1st boot, and there's no splash screen.
I used Risidoro's instructions to remove IPL and SPL to make a G4 version of the Cingular rom (2.25) and that will boot, but still no extended rom.
Does anyone else have this problem of getting stuck at the bootloader? If so, does anyone know a solution?

I thought a G4 wizard couldn't be unlocked? Does a service like ime-check have capabilities that lokiwiz doesn't?

Cingular 8125 to T-Mobile Rom

Okay, I've been searching through the forums for help with this but not much luck. I gave my old Cingular 8125 to my friend and his provider is T-Mobile. I was able to unlock the phone so that he can use his T-Mobile card in it but he wants to install the T-Mobile 2.26 Rom. I thought that since the phone was unlocked, all I had to do was d/l this rom and run the install. So I did this and it wont allow me to install it for some reason.
So how do I install T-Mobile 2.26 on his Cingular 2.25? (IPL and SPL: 2.25, GSM: 02.25.11, OS: 2.25.11.1)

I already took a look at the many how to's sticky'd up here and I tried the lokiwiz02b Super CID unlock method thinking maybe if I can get it CID unlocked, I can then install the tmobile rom but it failed. so if anyone has a link or any small bits of info i'd be really thankful

Look at the sticky unlock thread in Wizard Upgrading subforum carefully. You need to use Button's 1.05 ROM in order to have your Wizard CID-unlocked.

I have been reading on this website for weeks now... i have an I-mate K-jam... also known as many other names... but i have CID and SIM unlocked and soft and hardloaded it... i just cannot seem to find a rom that i know will work... i have tried a couple and they just fail... i would like to find a wm6 with some type of touchflo... any information would be greatly apprecaiated... i have read many of the newbi upgrading forums so if there is anything else i am missing please tell me

Are you sure it's 2.16.001? Isn't it 2.16.0001 (note 3 zeros)
If it's the latter then you have a G4 and i don't see how you have managed to HardSPL'ed a G3. The utility doesn't allow G3

G4 phone cannot be CID unlocked with this utility, Have you tried 'HardSPL' or 'SoftSPL',these are the only options to upgrade a G4 device to wm6.
Well,if you have tried to HardSPL,then,you didn't do it correctly,coz,your IPL/SPL remain the same as original,they have not changed,Do the methods again correctly,and there won't be any problem upgrading to wm6,there won't be any reason to be LOST,lol
