I've searched on here, searched Google, but they all seem to cost $15, whatever that equates to in 'proper' money.
All I'm looking for is something that'll automatically put the phone on silent between midnight and 7am.
Is there any free ones??
Cheers
Phil
Hi Phil - I'm also looking for exactly the same solution. Would you mind listing any apps you've come across that can automagically put a TytnII on silent during the night?
Thanks
This reminds me of a question I've been meaning to ask actually...
In the profiles section of the HTC Home plugin, there is an 'automatic' option... Is there any way to define how that one works?
Regards,
Rob.

I had a look in the manual, and on the web but couldn't see anything.
As far as I can see the automatic option cannot be configured. It just puts the phone into vibrate mode when there's a calendar appointment. That's no good at night when your phone vibrates when there are incoming phone calls or SMSes - it still wakes one up. And having to create a recurring daily appointment from say 10pm to 6am isn't the most elegant way to stop the phone from ringing at night without turning it off.
Birthday reminders are also annoying since they can result in a midnight chime.
Ideally I'd like to set a time period each night when the phone goes silent except for specific reminders (like a manually configured alarm clock).
My old Nokia 6310i did this superbly.
Does anyone know of any application that does this for a TytnII?
Looks like we might be in luck!!!
Seems like a developer on here's come to our rescue!
I'm going to give it a go tonight.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475226
I found this one earlier also: http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=gprofile/about
Haven't had a chance to try it out yet but it appears to be free also (with $ donations appreciated).
Thanks - the link didn't work but the home page http://www.ageye.de/ has some interesting stuff well worth a look at.
Much appreciated

They result in whatever time you set them for. If you want them at a different time then set them. Midnight is just the default.
If you want free then try the PhoneAlarm Lite v2.21
I use the Pro version but the Lite will do you profile switching!

I have made a small (simple) tool for personal use. Maybe someone else want to use it too?
It schedules an 'send and receive' for an account (only Pop3). Just like in Microsoft Outlook (pc).
you must have .NET Compact Framework 2.0 (or higher) installed to make it work.
Have seen this already
Good work!
New version added, with status icon on the today screen.
Hows this any different from the scheduler you have built into Pocket Outlook?
It uses Pocket Outlook to 'send and receive'.
Thanks for the reply!
I'm still puzzled though....Pocket Outlook has a scheduler....how is this different? I am very interested as Pocket Outlook is having problems checking email when in sleep mode, so any advice/info you can give will really help
You can use the schedular in Pocket Outlook, in your account. But it's not that easy/fast to change it.
So my need for a new tool was created. Easy and fast to switch and shut down. And this is what it is.
Any thoughts on adding IMAP support to this?
Sorry for kicking this thread.
But this sounds like the exact tool I need!
Unfortunately it doesn't work on my s620 (wide screen) phone.
Maybe because the display dimensions are different... does anyone got this (or a similair) tool running on a s620?
Hi!
I am very interested by your application.
Could you tell how you schedule the send/receive event and how you make it happen?
My goal is to make the send/receive frequency lower than allowed by the WM6 outlook configuration (minimum 5 min).
This program works great as i like to get my emails every couple of mins or so (not the standard 5 min).. but the only problem ive found is that when the phones screen is off (on standby mode) the email notification does not come through..it only comes through if you have your phones screen turned on..
Is there or has there been a fix for this??
So i guess nothing?
I just need a program that will allow my email to send/receive more often than the standard time allowed (5 minutes)....

Yes, someone else reported that bug too. But I don't have the time to look about it. Maybe someone else??
I would love it if someone could fix this.. i have been looking for a program like this since ive had my phone.. if i knew how to do it i would attempt it myself.. please, if anyone has the time to try and fix this issue i would much appreciate it!
HI, I need sw that only activate send/receive when I run it.
Does anydody know for that kind of sw?

Hey guys, I'm looking for a profile switcher that has the following:
(a) a today component (preferably just one line)
(b) allows for the selecting of a profile temporarily (meaning after xx minutes it would revert back to normal like MeetingMute did for WM2003)
(c) allows for the automatic flipping of the screen (e.g. car profile reverts the screen into landscape mode so I can lay my tilt on the dash)
I am aware of phoneweaver and spb phone suite, but they both lack the last component and I believe they dont allow for the temporary profile...any one got something like this?
Forgot to mention I need it on a 6.1 rom for Kaiser
Hmm, yeah. Last component could be tricky. I just bought Spb Phone Suite tonight. It does allow for temporary profiles but it works in intervals of 5, 10, 15, 30 and 60 minutes. You can also set up one of the automatic profiles to start and stop at specific times of the day. The only problem with that is that it can only be one specific schedule. All it would really be good for in my opinion is maybe setting it up to be silent during the hours you sleep or something.
PhoneWeaver can rotate the screen

As the title says, the latest version of PhoneWeaver will rotate your screen, but I don't think it allows temporary profiles like your description, (though it is a simple tap of the home screen plug in to change it manually to any profile, then back again).

I'm using PhoneWeaver (the latest version) and if I understand your requirement correctly, it fully supports temporary profiles. But you can install a fully functional demo for 30 days for free AFAIK.

It does? I've been using it for 7 months and haven't found that feature :s
I am gonna be looking (currently on 1.3 beta 1), but if you feel like enlightening me....
I'll give the latest phoneweaver a shot tonight, the time I checked it was at version 1.1, so maybe 1.2 will have everything I need. Thanks for the suggestion, I'm still entertaining others just in case cause I really missed meeting mutes interval silent feature which was great if I only wanted to mute it for 2 hours (i.e. at a movie) and wanted it back to normal after that.

I'm using v1.2.1 and in the profile definition on the "Profiles" tab I have an "Timeout" option. Meaning I can switch from profile A to B and if profile B has defined a timeout of 60mins it will automatically revert to profile A after that time.

I use WinMobileApps Profiles for Windows Mobile v2.0.0. You can set Portrait or Landscape for any profile, and it has a nice simple one line Today plugin. It doesn't have temp profile, but does have revert to scheduled. It also has a command line parameter that can run a specified program or script when you switch to a particular profile. Works on 6.1.
Ok looks like both the WinMobileApps and PhoneWeaver both do all of the above. I ended up going with phoneweaver though because of other options. Thanks to those who were able to enlighten me on the newer versions

I'm glad I could help!
PhoneAlarm is a good choice too. It does tons of things besides profile switching (repeated alarms of missed calls, sms, mms, email, traffic cost/counter, etc). There is a free version too.
It's really nice but tends to slow the Today screen only when you change/move plugins or softreset. Other than that it's really nice.
You should give it a try.
solution for u

pocketmax.net
Hi all
Im looking for an app that will complement the calendar by allowing to record voice notes instead of text input when the calendar is open on "day" view.
when you hold down a specific time on the calendar, the voice recorder is activated and the Voice Note automatically gets recorded on the calendar date and time you are holding down, and gets added to your reminders/appointments with default settings and no more questions.
It would be a lot better obviously if it was translated to text first, but not necessary.
I was able to find "voice cal", very old and uninstallable on wm6.1 with .cf.net 3.5
and also "speerio voice organizer"... looks like a memory hog and i read it doesn't work right. Its also crowded with a million different things that are not useful.
I just want a simple interface to be able to use with one or two clicks or buttons in order to set up a calendar event while im driving or on the phone etc....
thanks
bump!.................
Hi Spiro,
any luck on finding that app? Cos i've been looking for the same, tho i would prefer that when u push the "record" button, u get multiple choices regarding where to place the voice note, where "calendar" bein one of the first. Then u just had to place it into the day and time you would like it to be. Haven't found one yet, so i've started to write to different application developers suggesting such an app. I'm surprised that they haven't made one ages ago. In meantime, if you should come across one, pls let me know.
cheers
anyone???
Do I really have to take up programming and write my own app?
I was lookin around and saw this
handheld.softpedia.com/get/Business/Calendar/VoiceCalendars-52540.shtml
I think this is different than VoiceCal
The one I gave the link to, seems lke it could work. Only problem is that it doesnt use WM existing calendar.
I tried speerio voice reminder and it was horrible! I dont know what some people are thinking.
All I need is a simple plugin to show itself on the calendars context menu when I "long press" on dayview to say "new voice note" and when I click on it it should have a HUGE red record button and a stop button. When you hit the stop button the calendar would save that as an event with the default alarms on the date it was created
the only problem I see with that is that the heading of the event would not be very informative unless one typed the info, but im willing to live with that. Or maybe MSvoice command could help there with some text to speech engine!!! (im not holding my breath)
Im using an app called "thumpcal" right now but they dont have a "day view" and I have to set the time after I scedulle an event on a specific date, but its better than the built in calendar BECAUSE ITS SIMPLE!!!!!
I dont understand how am i supposed to use a program like "speerio" while im driving when it has 30 f...n buttons the size of a neutron on the screen in a grey on grey display?????????
Does anyone know what I have to learn in order to put a little program together to do what I want it to do?
PS I also found some other interesting programs like "freenotes" that I thought was a good idea but I would like to be able to initiate that from the "day view" on the calendar (right click on a time on the screen and have the choice of a voice note or a pen note) so that I dont have to key- in the time that I want the event to take place
ummmmmm.....the link that I posted does what you want.
1.Make folders by subject name
2.Click on a folder, it then brings up calendar
3.Click on a day of the month
4.There is a BIG RED RECORD BUTTON at bottom of screen
5.Record your note, it is then stored for that specific day
Is this not what you want? Granted it doesn't use your existing calendar but hey, something is better than nothing, right
VoiceCalendars
Update*
I was just lookin around and found this app. I think it might be right up your alley. Very simple/minimal interface. Allows you to record a voice message up to 2 minutes and then you can set a date and time for it to play aloud automatically.
Voice Reminder: Download Cab
Heres the website I found it at
I hope either of these programs can help. I know how frustrating it is not to be able to find that perfect app!

Hey asofiker
thanks for your reply
I have an HTC Kaiser phone
I tried both programs you suggested and had the same problems with both that other users seem to be experiencing
the "voice calendars" displays a "the control grid .....could not be created" error
and the other program from the XDA member gives me the "An error occoured on sub_app_start.
This device does not support display power on/off Continue?" error.
I appreciate your help and if I find anything that works in the future Ill be sure to post here
Thanks again!
Not exactly what you're looking for but an idea: Agenda Fusion with its Notes Organizer and Data Linking features. Also a good agenda with lots of views. http://www.developerone.com/agendafusion/index.htm
Pocket Informant 8 is the best Calendar and Contacts app available and I always install it to my wm devices. It has voice notes recording functionality and then some. Check it out. I have tried all the others at great expense (some provide trials) and this is by far the best one.
Regards,
MAC
I tried agenda fusion in the past and find that it falls in the same category as most of these organizer programs its simply overkill for a one handed hand held device with a 2 inch screen
Ill give pocket informant a try and post back
Thanks
pocket informant no good for this purpose either!

Alright, First off I searched using the search here and using google using keywords of '' wake up, tilt, kaiser, text, notification, etc. ''.
But I couldn't find a answer to my question so, here I start a new thread. If anyone has owned a Blackberry, (dont kill me now lol) but when you recieved a text. your device wouldn't wake up from sleep untill you woke it up. is there something similar i could do with the tilt? any thanks would be appreciated. I had already searched google, tried diff. options on the device i couldnt figure it out. So I'm hoping I dont get flamed.

bump 0 ha. hope no one gets mad.
Not sure about making it not wake up, but you can control the notifications to make it less intrusive. There's the built-in WM6 notification options, or if you want more control, the Kaiser Notifications program.
The thing is, I've tried threw the settings, nothing stopped the backlight from turning on when i get a text. I have Kaiser Notification for the LED's at the top, thats how it is on the blackberry. Your phones asleep but will still make a noise/vibrate and then a LED will alert you.
It's just annoying like in a movie where when you put your phone on vibrate and put it in the cupholder, the light still shines... not fun when your backlights all the way on. if you know what i mean
bump, but with a question.
or does anyone know a way so that when you recieve a text the backlight stays off instead of illuminating? any help would be apperciated.

Backlight
I use PhoneAlarm Pro to handle my notifications for SMS and Email and it's setting for no backlight on SMS works fine for me.

Hi folks
I'm just curious as to what alarm applications you guys are using. I'm find the built in "Clock & Alarms" to be somewhat limited as it only allows for 3 alarms.
I would like something similar to it, but to be able to easily add new alarms, and maybe even customize the ringtone/vibrations for them individualy, if possible.
Thanks for your interest

You won't find anything better than G-alarm
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422362
I use the alarm functionality in MortPlayer.
It has the advantage of turning the volume up and launching itself (obviously).
This leaves my phone ready to resume playing the podcast or audio book I was listening to the night before with just one button press.
This affords me another 30 seconds in bed ;-)

I've tried them all, and for me, the best is phoneAlarm, PERIOD!!!
SPB Time
While not free, it is a nice option. Very easy to use.
After trying Mobile Shell, I tried just about everything else the SPB house has put out. Some I tried and deleted, like the lame SPB Online, this is one I kept.
i second G-alarm. nice if you are looking for a free program.
pTravelAlarm
I also agree that G-Alarm is one of the best. You can set multiple alarms for reoccurring times and days. Also, you have to make a ball run through a maze before you can hit the "Snooze" button. It kind of forces your mind to wake so you dont just roll over, hit a snooze and fall back asleep
Also, it also automatically turns the volume to max even if its on silent. Handy feature if you do like I do and leave your cell on silent all of the time when working, then forget to turn it back on later

Here's a good one, too.
SPB Time
Like someone said earlier: Since I use Spb Mobile Shell, I found that Spb Time is perfect. It includes an optional today plugin and can be a tab in Mobile Shell. It lets you set one-time alarms, recurring alarms and you can set specific sound files to each one (can also set to vibrate and auto-snooze).
I still use pTravelalarm.

very good, and finger-friendly. installed all of the others mentioned above and winded up using this. Still happy.
