I think you will find more info in the wiki and by trying different roms, it won't hurt really. many free programs listed here and also in members signatures, but really this forum has a google search engine that works. best of luck. my favorite is in my signature, but you need to try find what you like and dont.

You don't need to flash a whole new rom just to get a good contacts manager. Most of the custom roms contain a readily available cm, like icontact or pocket cm. Just look through the notes of a couple roms and see what contact manager they cooked in.
If your a noob???

Hey Everyone,
I am looking to send a single sms to specific multiple contacts. I understand that the sms feature in WM6 allows you to autocomplete a contact by typing theyre name as you go, I am looking for however a CAB file or something that will allow me to do something like tick the people i want to send to?
I hope they're is something like this out for WM6, otherwise its a long time sending about 200 mobiles a new number ha ha.
I'm not a often poster, but long time viewer, and i know you all know your stuff and i'm thankful for anything you can tell me!

Don't know if you'd only be satisfied with ticking multiple names, but the auto-complete thing does allow you to type in more than one name. I assume you realized that? Alternatively you can just continually click on "add recipient" and select them all one-by-one, though that's a pain in the ass. I've found the autocomplete for multiple recipients to be pretty fast. Do you not find that to be the case?
I was chatting to a few people on palringo's MoDaCo group and one user suggested Jeyo Mobile Companion 2.0 Demo. It does exactly what i wanted to do on the phone but on windows XP!
I only really needed it as a one off but i would recommend it as a solutions especially if your going to use it reguarly
Thanks for your comments and suggestions though, your all good people!

you can try this software SMS Assistant from QimSoft
http://www.qimsoft.com/
After install, it will add one Menu item "Add Recipients" at the bottom of Menu
Click it then it allow you to multi select contact
yeah I use group sms as well you can find it in the development thread. didn't realize it was included in the 6.1 rom as well.

You definitely need a RJV SMS SCHEDULER OR SHUBAROO'S GROUP SMS 1.4.4 ...
just goto www.freewarepocketpc.net and search it there

Hi everyone... I am trying to find out a few things about my new phone. I am brand new to Windows Mobile, coming from a blackberry, and have done much searching on here, but haven't found exactly what I'm looking for.
I have found tons of posts on how to disable threaded texts. Not sure why anyone would want to do this, (I'm still used to my blackberry, and I love the threaded texts)... so I am wondering how I get that, because mine must be already disabled. Mine only shows the messages that were sent to me. I did get a program from a guy I work with called Xtreme text, which is ok, but kind of slow.
Also, I would like to know if I can disable or at least change the sound that my phone makes when I send a sms. I went into sounds and turned off notifications, and that turned it off, but it also turned off the sound for when I receive a text.
I saw that there are different operating systems I guess they are, and some of them maybe would give me the things I'm looking for, but a lot of them say that the transcriber has been disabled, and that is the whole reason I had to lose the Blackberry, because we are using a new program at work and I need to be able to have my phone signed with the stylus.
I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!
Welcome to xda-devs! consider this your "get questions anwered without just being to sold to search" pass.
Threaded texts are not natively supported in WM6. You must flash a WM6.1 rom for natively supported threaded texts. Flashing roms is really fun and kind of addicting (at least imho). There are currently 2 methods for flashing roms- USPL and Hard-SPL. Your phone is protected from rom changing with a "CID-Lock" that is built into the SPL of your phone. The USPL uses a temporary SPL to disable the lock where as Hard-SPL flashes a totally new SPL that has no CID-lock.
Romwise, we do not yet have an abundance of cooks. We have two main cooks, itje and ttran. They make the "Touch-it" and "Open Touch" roms, respectively.
Now about the transcriber. The transcriber takes the text that you write and translates it into text. I am not sure what program you could use to actually sign documents.
Welcome to xda-devs!
Thanks fzzy! Ok, so in your opinion, what would be the easier way for a newb to do this, and what would be the flash that I wanted to use? I am totally new to all of this and will need step by step instructions on how to do all of it without turning my phone into a paperweight.
Any suggestions and help will be awesome! The main things I want are the threaded texting, and to be able to scroll through my contacts with my finger like the iphone I guess. Also, I would really like for the phone not to make that bell noise when I send an sms. The thing with the transcriber i believe is built into the program that we will be using, but the ability for the phone to accept the movement of the stylus needs to be active still.
Thank You!

How2flash!!!
Very important.....
And if you hard-spl... you can test any rom you want....
Yeppers. As fzzyrn said, you don't need the transcriber since all that does is translate what you write into words. If you do want it, though, you can built a ROM using my kitchen that includes it.

Boo hoo, no body loves me. I'm gonna built one ROM with every configuration possible with my kitchen and release it so that people will start talking about my Clean series ROMs. hehehe
Hmm I still don't really understand what any of that means. Maybe I will just have to learn to like this phone the way it is.
It does say though, under "programs you need" that you need active sync if you have XP. What if you are using Vista?
I am going to keep reading posts to find out as much as I can, but this is all pretty confusing to me so far...

My suggestion:
1. USE your device about a few weeks. You never tune a car before you tested it.
2. Meanwhile READ, READ, READ and you will understand WinMobile etc.... and Activesync and WMDC on Vista
3. NOW start searching apps you want to try....
4. And now think about falshing a tuned up Operating system....
But please take time for 1-3!!!!!!!

Would it maybe be easier for me to just try the palm threaded sms program, since that's really the biggest thing I want? Also, does anyone know how to turn off that stupid annoying sound that comes up and says message sent? That thing is really annoying me!
Thanks!

Ok, sorry but I'm really new to this... is this reg editor something I run on the phone, or on the computer while the phone is connected to it?
Thanks
youhave to install PHM reg edit to your phone or use this on your desktop computer(attached):
ok, so I started the regeditor and connected my phone, and went into HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Inbox but then there is no settings folder, only "Ldapinfo", "sendDriver", and "Svc". Any suggestions on where to go from there?
Thank you!
here i created a cab file for you.
just copy it to your wing then click it and it will fix this sent message thing
hmm I copied it and clicked it, and it opened a bunch of text in IE, but it didn't stop the message sent notification. Not sure if I did something wrong or what...
lordy lordy. how'd i forget ivan? haha.
we should also add albert now what with his carbon rom, eh?
oh by the way, you need to click it from your device, not form your computer. trix is for kids (get it?). oh and you should get some "cab via activesync" software so you don't hafe to repeatedly copy and open.
so it didnt install at all?
i tried it on my wing and showed this:

Hi Guys
Hope you can help.
I load appointments in Outlook and Sync
The appointment contains the persons name and phone number.
I would like to make a call directly from the reminder or calendar.
Using the telephone number as a hypertext link would be great.
I am normally busy driving to the client so I cant copy and paste or write the number down. Copy and paste does not work when switching to phone mode, does not allow you to paste?
Would greatly appreciate a solution!
(using Touch Diamond)
Have a look at Pocket Informant 8. When you set the appointment you have an option in the righthand soft menu to insert contact link. This then allows you to have the appointment open and access contact info directly from the appointment. Hope this is what you are after.
make a search before u post. look here:

Thanks tempest2112, Pocket informant looks like something that may solve the problem, very useful!
Apologies KukurikU, I did look at the link you provided but don’t have a clue what they are talking about. My knowledge goes as far as copy and paste and installing a program
You need to upgrade to a 1.93 based ROM which has paste function in the dialer... (this one did my head in for ages until I flashed 1.93).
Still need to copy then paste though, so you'll just have to pull over for a second... hang on a mo, you should be doing that anyway!

try the app i am recommending there. i am sure it will fulfill yr wish....i am using it for 3 years and it does exactly what you are asking for. just keep yr stylus on a meeting (for example) and if there is any telephone number in the reminder or in the note the app will inquire if you want to dial it. no copy/paste!!!
sorry for the "you don't have a clue". can't help with that

Hi KukuriKU,
I have installed contactbreeze, but the PIM extension is not appearing in OUtlook (i am checking teh notes section). I am using the SwiftBL 6.5 version of ROM.
Are you using contactbreeze with the Diamond, and did you do anything special to make it work?
Thanks!
Part 1
nothing special.
first options/tweaks/apply dial menu extension.
second, go to the appointment/task that already contain a telephone number and by "long press" you'll get the option "dial number".
i think the set of pics should be enough. for more pics see next post.
if you still have questions, contact me
Part 2-3 more Pics
Her is the end of my explanations:
ContactBreeze Works now!!

Thanks for the excellent clarification provided KukurikU! I was trying to select the number in teh notes section and then trying a long press.... this just used to bring out teh cut/copy menu item. I didnt know I had to perform the long key press in the main screen... anyway many thanks for your help - issue sorted now.
BTW ContactBreeze does solve the issue of the missing dial from PIM feature in WM6.
The only extra thing I would wish is if it could handle pauses and auto-pin entry using DTMF. For example in many of my appointments I have a conf call number and then when I dial that I need to enter a pass code (maybe 4 or 6 digits).
What I usually do is provide something like +44800345678pp321458# to dial and there is no need to enter information manually. If contactBreeze had this feature then that would have made this the ultimate soluion!!
The biggest problem I find in flashing ROMs is setting up my four email accounts, signatures etc. each time. Most other program installations I can cope with easily.
I'm sure these account details must be stored in an easily accessible registry key but I really can't figure out where.
Is there any easy way to backup these details (not the messages themselves, it's the settings I'm interested in) so that I can restore them easily when trying a new ROM?

Yes I did search. Yes I did google. I did research. and I am a responsible member of this community and respect a lot of what you and others (including myself) contribute to this forum.
I also read questions carefully before I reply. Had you done the same, you might have realised that the solutions you refer to do not do what I want. I am not interested in backing up the messages themselves but rather the settings of the accounts: servers, download schedules, logon names etc.
As you say:
Never ASSUME anything as it makes an ASS out of U and ME so perhaps you should be more careful before you flame. But thanks for taking the time to try and help.

thank you very mach, work great, nothing to sorry for, solution is real
sashimi has a tool included, which can backup your email accounts and your settings for wireless connections. its called makisu
the best is, to use sashimi together with makisu
so rom flashing becomes very easy after setting up the application
http://www.winmo-experts.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4
yes I'd also recommend sashimi +makisu (the latter is included in the sashimi package as well, but can also be downloded seperately). Makisu let you backup your email and wlan configurations in an xml file and restore it with a new flashed ROM. Sashimi supports many other config burdens after flashing: cab autoinstallation, registry settings, file operations and skripts. And it is working very accurate
PS ... but for signatures I havent seen anything in it... but will work, if the signature is file based or part of an ini-file (with sashimi)

It would be wonderfull, if you can elaborate more and give us a sort of How-To.
TIA
Try this...
After setting up your email accounts and before a sync, take a backup using Sprite (or what ever) but only backup your email settings. Then you can restore from this on your new ROM. I've been doing this but dont use signatures so not sure of that of that.
I've used SettingsSavior in the past. Works ok for 6.1 - bit flaky with 6.5.
It looks a bit like an abandoned project, but still works OK for email accounts and common registry settings. I don't have a link, just google and usually find it. (It's free)
Hi, I am a real noob to all this & although I've looked on the forums I get lost in tech jargon after about 5 responses
Sorry for asking questions that have probably been answered already somewhere but it would take me hours to look it all up & then understand it, & probably 2 minutes for one of you tech geniuses to spell it out for me!!
I have a T Mobile MDA COmpact iv (Touch Diamond) I have a few questions:
#1 I have downloaded some cool cab apps but get an error message saying I need to upgrade my microsoft .net framework to 3.5 - can I just download & run this straight away without screwing up my phone? It's quite a big download. Do I just run it like a normal cab file once I've got it?
#2 Can I get that horrible t-mobile background off it - I've seen pics of it where the Touchflo 3d background is a wicked panoramic shot which scrolls with the rest of the menu.
#3 I see a lot of talk of ROM upgrades - what are the benefits of doing this, as I hear it will invalidate my warranty.
#4 Are there any basic drum machine/synthesizer etc. programs for it?
I have Omniano which is cool but you can't record your playing. I've looked for HOURS!!!
#5 Is there any way I can sync 2 different Hotmail accounts at the same time? T-Mobile were USELESS when I asked about it, & they didn't even know I had to install Windows live for mobile. I did speak to one really helpful guy there who actually put me onto this site, but we got cut off (perhaps T Mobile didn't like what he was telling me...)
I've always felt myself to be fairly techy, but this is a whole new world!!
Thanks a lot in advance
1. yes, the file is big, but once you install it, it only takes a small amount of space on the phone.
2. yes, the background you can change in settings -> wallpaper, but i assume you're probably talking about the t-mobile branded everything. this you can change with themes. (look for themes on the 'themes, applications and software' board. now i'm not sure if you need custom rom's to load themes as the first thing i did with my mda was to load a custom rom. the panoramic background can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3412257&postcount=748
also see here for lots of themes/clocks etc.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=489531
3. custom rom's, people load for faster performance but there are bugs here and there. you could just upgrade to newer version of official htc roms, although not sure if t-mo will still invalidate the warranty.
4. no idea
5. no idea
