Strange problem with outlook - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello everybody;
I just cooked a rom using RUU_Diamond_HTC_Europe_2.03.401.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.51.25.26_1.09.25.23_Ship and the kitchen Surface_Kitchen_v1.01, everything went very well (packages, provxml files, ...) and the resulted rom is running very good, only one strange problem.
When I open outlook, I can receive emails and see the list, but can't open the emails, can't send new emails, can't reply or forward emails. No error message, just nothing happen on the action (sending, replying, opening)
I searched and did lot of tests, can't figure out what causes the problem, I wonder if somebody can help me.
Thank you.

missing htm files
I suppose that u've deleted your htm files...
Just look for these ones:
compose_mtgreq.htm
compose_note.htm
compose_vcard_sms.htm
read_mtgreq.htm
read_note.htm
read_sms.htm
read_vcard_sms.htm
thread_sms.htm
in your SYS\Redist_Lang_0409 folder.
If they are missing, this is the cause of ur issue. So, just put them back
Cheers,

Thank you seatone.
All the files you mentioned were their, I didn't touch this folder.
I started from the beginning and I used WinMerge to compare files, I think their was some corrupt files. I replace them and everything is working fine now.
Thank you again.

Cannot copy clg_in.gif, clg_miss.gif, clg_out.gif, spd_lst.gif; access denied.

I used a registry tweak to disable the default AT&T dialer and now I want to change out the images. I am having a problem copying clg_in.gif, clg_miss.gif, clg_out, and spd_lst.gif into the \windows directory. I keep getting an access denied error message. I have turned off the phone and did a soft reset, but that didn't make any difference.
I have attempted to replace the files using my desktop computer and File Explorer.
Does anyone have a solution so I can copy over the four new files?
Thank you.
resco explorer allows you to force the copy.
Thank you.

Update...
I downloaded Resco File Explorer and installed it. I copied the four images to \windows and after confirming the files copied. I can see the correct images in \windows. I did a soft reset but the old images are still showing. I verified that the new images are in \windows. Why are the old images (AT&T crap) still showing?
Thank you.
Bumping = Bad
Sorry to bump my own thread, but I'm fairly confident that someone knows how to correct this problem.

its probably a cache issue, such as if u put a picture on a contact, then delete the picture, the picture is still on the contact.
but, i dont know how to do what you are asking.
You can just flash the rom im sure there are more customizable friendly roms out there.

mxip_initdb.vol - 16MB file

Hello,
I've read that this file stores contacts, notes, calendar, and the like. In earlier OS versions, it used to be rather small. in the WM6 Tilt, its 16MB. The properties show it as READ ONLY and in ROM. How can it store and info if it is READ only? It would be great to get this thing reduced in a new cooked ROM. Any comments or suggestions on making the file size smaller? Thanks, MWP.

mxip_initdb.vol questions
I've been doing some reading about this file. This file is really large and I want to do something to make sure I have no problems with this file. I removed this file from my OEM_Lang_0409 folder and I'm not sure if I'm having any problems. I seem to be able to connect to activesync okay. Although, it seems like it takes me couple unplug and plug with the USB to connect. Can I be okay with erasing this file?
Return of 16Mb space!
Well,i think now you can forget about this file!
First i cheked it with sktool,it sad than this db is unused
Then i copied it to my card and created an emty txt file with name "mxip_initdb.vol" and readonly attribs and put it in root directory. Reboot- everything works fine And my 16mb returns to me!
P.S.: my device is diamond with 1.93 rom
P.P.S.:My english is not great, but i hope it helps anybody
Interesting.. I suspect there's some very good reason for this file, as many cooks remove everything possible from their ROMs, and my ROMeOS 4.6 has this file.

i've the same problem with ROM coocked (Dib Diamond 1.9 - based on 1.93)
I've tried with your trick, but after each soft reset "mxip_initdb.vol" returns to 16Mb!
I've tried also to delete it, but again, after each soft reset "mxip_initdb.vol" reappears...
I hate this file.

Delete files from windows folder?

I'm running short of storage space on my Diamond, and while browsing around in File Explorer I noticed that there are copies of all the HTC demo media (album samples, mp3 files) in the Windows folder - there's easily 2-3mb worth and I could do with deleting them. However it won't let me, is there a way to get rid of them?
Kind regards
Dave
maybe this help
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=38008&highlight=touch+diamond+guide
Thanks, that was helpful - but although they talk about deleting files from the Windows folder in the thread, it doesn't exactly detail how :-(
Kind regards
Dave
most files in the win dir are not in storage but in the rom itself
and can only be deleted by cooking ones own rom
also rom space not used is not merged with storage
so i would not really help you
if you want more space
You can do it by replacing them with some 0 KB files that have the exact same file names and extensions. I just posted this thread for 46 useless files in the Windows directory that will free up more than 10 MB. If there are any other files that you want to delete, just create a new text file, rename it to the file that you want to delete, then copy it to the Windows directory to overwrite the original file. Always backup the original ones in your computer just in case you want to restore them.
I was also thinking about this, but didnt test it yet . Very helpful.

That's good to know, thanks.
If, as I understand from reading earlier posts, the files are indeed in the ROM and they don't actually take up storage space then I might as well leave them where they are.
Thanks!
Dave

Hi:
I used this file to increase volume on my Fuze. Seemed to work very well for me.
Hope this helps.
Just delete the file you have there, soft reset, and the original will come back by itself
Thanks for posting the files guys! I'm running RRE, and my mic is way out of whack. I've had many complaints of noise while I am on the line. I'm hoping that restoring my audiopara3.csv file will fix the problem. BUT, I am having serious problems extracting the file in order to synch it to my phone. Is there a trick that I'm missing? I can't even get the file to show up on my desktop after I move it. Should I only be replacing the audiopara3.csv file? Do the other audiopara files have any impact here? TIA guys. I really appreciate your responses.
Not sure if the audiopara has hidden/system attributes but to convert back to stock, del in windows dir and soft reset. The system will revert to stock settings.
BTW if you have one to play with just copy it from the SD to the windows dir using TotalCommander and leave AS alone.
Thanks tyguy. I am using total commander. I went and selected audiopara3.csv, but after I tell the phone to delete, it gives me a warning window:
Could not delete 1 file(s)!
Any idea what could be causing this to happen? From what I've been reading, it should be pretty easy to either overwrite / delete this file, so I don't know why I'm having so much trouble.
Most likely it is in use. Check the TC settings that you are permitted to see/access/delete system files.
Try to rename and delete
I'm running Total Commander/CE v2.51
The only TC settings I have are language settings.
I checked the file attributes for audiopara3.csv, and they are set to 'read only' and 'in ROM'. When I uncheck the read only and save, the next time i check the file properties, the check box reverts back to being selected. I might need to revert back to the stock ROM if I can't get this audio stuff to work.
I don't have the original anymore, but this one really helped, it's loud and no distortions. Unzip first.
squirrel, did you try to rename or move it using TC?
Worked for me all the time.
i get the same error when trying to rename, edit, or move.
I'm happy to be able to report some resolution. What I was able to do was copy the entire zip file to my phone with all the audiopara files that herg posted on the last page. Then, using totalcommander, I was able to extract the files one by one to the windows directory and overwrite the files. Thanks for all of your help guys! Everyone who had to put up with the static while talking to me sincerly appreciates it!

HTC TYTN ii

Hi,
Ive just recently got this phone from my brother, and i am adding videos etc to it successfully.
I want a good alarm tone. I have converted an MP3. file to .wav . I then added it into the windows folder. I click the main clock, click the little bell, and open the drop down list for alarm tone.
As soon as i click the tone i added to the phone, it automatically switches back to the default tone.
How do i get my normal tone, because the other ones just wont wake me up.
cheers
Have attached GAlarm it's not the newest version as it's now a pay for app, but it's far more reliable than the Windows Alarm and also very easy to set up.
Hi thanks. How do i install this?
Sorry, kinda new to things like this. I havnt bought the phone off my brother yet, so dont want to mess anything up by installing it wrong.
Help is appreciated

Unzip it on computer you will find a .cab place onto phone via async or cardreader, then with File Explorer on phone find the .cab click on it, install to device memory, in start menu will be GAlarm click it, it will promp restart, restart phone.
Now you can set up alarm
Thanks
I unzipped it to pc. opened the file, and there is another zip folder. Do i just unzip that again, drag the 1 cab file across through async, and it will install?
EDIT: Sorry for repost.
There isnt a .cab file in there when i have extracted the 2nd zip.
There is just a load of windows files ending in .152 etc
Also an xml file. Is this what you mean?

The second file is a .cab it's just that it's a compressed file so shows up as same looking, the file you extracted from original .zip do not unzip it place on phone and follow above directions

Yes yes im very stupid. I just saw it as another zip file. Looked at windows bar @ bottom and it said GAlarm.cab i was like...... .cab .
Installing it now. Shall tell you if it works Thanks
Update: Going through installation process now. Said it may not function properly due to it being made for a previous version of windows mobile. Carried on anyway. Loaded up app and forced restart. Booted it up and got another error. Booted it up for 3rd time and created my first alarm .
P.S Is there anyway of getting just my alarm on the main screen, without the added buttons? (Contacts, ringtones) etc.
Sorry for spam.
All done and added.
All i can say is thank you very much. Youve been a great help to me and im sure to come back when ive bought the phone, and feel more confident with installing new programs.
thanks
