Someone Please Help Me :) (ExtROM question)

Alright.
Here is what I have done up until now.
I searched this forum trying to find out how to unlock my ExtRom.
I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1424566&postcount=374
I downloaded the zip files followed the directions and NADA. It keeps giving me some error.
I am a pretty smart cookie. I have been a network engineer for 8 years. I will be more then willing to help someone else out who can help me.
Thanks in advance
David
Just be sure to install the CAB's on the device, and soft reset after every install. Never managed to make it NOT work on my Treo
K i installed both. And did a soft reset after each one.
Now what?
Use Total Commander to empty the ExtendedRom

launch the unlock sw you find in programs
softreset
delete the files in extrom
softreset
the files in extrom are gone ? ---> hardreset
the files in extrom are still here ----> recheck the previous step(s) and try again
One little question...
works in WM5?

That was exactly the pattern I followed about a dozen times, but continued to get 2 different error messages which told me to soft reset and try again every time I tried to launch the extendedROM application in Programs. Since I wouldn't have lost much more time to reflash my 750 if the worst happened, I took the chance of deleting the extendedROM files and partition with the standard File Explorer and hard reset the unit. Now, it's plain vanilla and no hiccups.
I get a error.
Insetkey failed when i run the prgram in the programs.
it says please reset the device then do it again.
I hit the reset button do it again and same error.
Any better ideas?
Do it again 3 or 4 times and more (if you get same message).
Then, you will see the another message.
I did it 100 times reset it I dozen times..
It does not work at all.
Is there another work around???
I got the Extended rom to work, but my questions are such...
what exactly does the extended rom do?
what is the benefits of having extended rom?
and is there a way to have more than 8.57 mb?

same here. ran the unlocker many times with reset after each.
first message is "insertkey failed! please reset device then do it again"
followed by "changeprotectiontypefailed. please reset device then do it again"
followed by "unprotect finish! please reset device"
after rest I still see all the 3 stuff and only UMTS in the Band Selection. does this mean it's not unlocked?
I manually deleted the 2 files from the Partition under Extended Rom, using File Explorer.
Am I missing something?
Any help will be appreciated.
Y.
After removing the 2 files from the unlocked ExtROM, should a small 32k filenamed 'ExtROMCopy.exe' remane under the Windows dir? Viewiing its properties from Resco shows the file is in Rom and is Read-only, fwiw.

So are you saying that it is not necessary to do the whole ExtRom unlocker thing??
Using file explorer, I found the files "ExtROMcopy" @ 32.1K but I don't see any way to delete it. I cannot find any type of partition. I also found "AT&T Icons" @82.2K and it is possible to delete that one. Or am I totally missing the boat somehow......

Missing.dll file problem

I have HTC Diamond for 10 days (Asian version , ROM 1.35.707.3 WWE). Set it up and successfully used on US T-Mobile until yesterday when I’'ve got an error message on the phone saying that the program I am trying to open can not be open because of the missing dll file. I had few different software which I use on day to day basis installed on the phone like Pocket Informant, SPB Traveler, Trip Tracker, Cootek TouchPal. After the error message I tried to open other programs, but whatever was installed on the internal storage of the phone gave me an error message.
Next I tried to reinstall those programs and got the message saying – “…the installation was unsuccessful…”. Next I decided to do the hard reset and reformat the internal storage. In the end of the process I'’ve got the message saying "Compare moviNAND error". It stays on screen until I hit the reset button.
After restart the device goes back to the factory settings. The internal storage is available, except I find "internal storage" and "internal storage2" folders. The CONTENTS folder which I had there originally is missing. I can copy files there, but when I attempt to install the software I am getting the following message: "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate."
I know that a lot of you guys went through hard resets. Did anyone had this problem? Can any one help me to fix this?
Hi,
Try deleting the 'Internal Storage' folder using the file explorer and soft reset. 'Internal Storage 2' should be automatically renamed to 'Internal Storage'.
Hopefully this work for you.
DT
Did that. But still can not install any CABs...
Activesync mode
Check if your diamond is not connected as disk drive (normally when you connect it to your computer you have the choice to connect using activesync or disk drive). If you did connect using disk drive mode, you will not be able to install programs correctly. This is why it creates a 'internal storage 2' folder when installing programs.
I rearly use ActiveSync to install programs. I have them mostly as a CABs. So last advice does not fix the problem. Thank you though.

this internal storage 2 is because of messaging (attachments of email messages that are appointed to be stored in internal storage). when u want account to store messages to the internal storage some times it doesnot work in order to get this worked just go to MESSAGING and MENU >>>> OPTIONS >>>> and here u see all accounts and just at left side u see storage and there uncheck the item that says When available use this storage card to store attachements and then RESTART and the problem should now be solved.
Mahmood, Thank you for your reply. Good point.
But my main problem is that I can not install any programs on my Diamond - neither to the Main Memory nor to the Internal Storage.
Any idea how to deal with the ..."Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate"... message?

FIRST install the sdkCERTF.cab see the attachment see if it works !!
which softwares are u installing again if u are installing them again maybe they were not deleted completely u can use taskmanager to terminate the process of that program and then reinstall. Use the Certf cab file and install it in your device may be this will help !!
Well, the whole point of my post is that it does not allow me to install ANY CAB file. I just tried it and copied both programs to the Diamond. After clicking on SDKCert.cab I've got the "Installation of SDKCerts.cab was unsuccessful" and with the TaskMgrv3.0 the message is "The file 'TaskMgr' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file"
What else could be done?
"digitally signed with a trusted certificate" issue
Guys, can anyone help here??? I can not believe that no one knows how to fix this...
If I were to flash my ROM to one of the newer ones from this forum, do you think it would fix the "digitally signed with a trusted certificate" issue?
Got the same issue with rom 1.37 :/
Any ideas since then ?
bringing this back to the top. I am trying to install an autorun that is designed to run from an SD card (not sure if this makes a difference or not) and when I do it says its not a trusted certificate and won't run. Have already installed the sdkcert.cab file and it states it installed correctly, but still the problem persists.
Fixed my install problem
I used Pocket Mechanic to fix registry issues and remove all trace of the program that first failed to install. All subsequent installs work fine.

storage name Problem

Hello,
Suddenly my Diamond doesnt start most programms tellin the secure zertificate is not signed or sth like that.
Where can i change this that is accepts again everything?
edit: hm looks like the problem is the path it have chageg path to internal storage 2 before it was just internal storage. how can i change it?
edit2: trieing editing name in diamond doesnt work says cant change name.mmh dont want to install evething new only because of that silly 2.
before we can help you please tell us what device you have and more importantly what ROM you are running (version + brand).
thanks
ok i solved the prob.
It was because of tomtom it was open while i connected to pc.
Guess it created cause there was no interal storage
a new folder so the diamond changed the original to 2.
I deleted the new one and the Diamond changed the name back again.
Thank you so much !! for solving that problem and write about it on this board. I have had the same problem for 3 weeks now, been in contact with HTC support without getting any answer to my problem.
Best Regards
DaZleeper

QuickGPS

Hello Every Body.
After a bad Manipulation, QuickGPS doenst want start.
she said me: "the file QuickGPS" cannot be opened. either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. if the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
Anybody can post a Cab of gpsrapid for my touch pro please?
Because all of gpsrapid i found on the internet has the same problem.
PLEASE....
Try making a new shortcut to quick gps-you may have messed up the original one. Or, check if you've over-written any rom files related to quick gps with something that has the same name but a different function.
I try to execute them directly on the windows folder but not successfuly
I install tp2x rom...
i ask to the developer so
thanks
This is the error message in english
"the file QuickGPS" cannot be opened. either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. if the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
You get that error when you have a bad shortcut or when there are missing (or over-written) modules. If it happened right after the flash, then there's a problem with the rom.
No
after a flash, quickgps is ok.
but after the flash, i made a update of quickgps with a cab found on xda...
i restart, and i execute directly /windows/quickgps.exe
and my phone said the error message
Well, it's pretty obvious that you over-wrotr the stock modules with new ones that don't work. Remove them w/ sk tools or total commander, or just do a hard reset and start over. Why would you want a new quick gps, anyway?
i made that because i have a problem with gps since the start...

[Q] "Installation error - insufficient storage available" when installing skype

[Q] "Installation error - insufficient storage available" when installing skype
Hello Everybody,
this is my first post on this forum, i decided to start this thread cause i've been struggling with this problem for something like one month now, i really want to fix it, and this looks like the best place where to ask for help.
I'm having problems installing the Skype application on a Samsung Galaxy S, in Italy.
Initially i installed it from the market, the installation went fine, but i couldn't log in cause i was still running Android 2.1
After the upgrade to 2.2, Skype worked only the first time i tried to use it, then it started giving me a weird bug; basically each time i tried to make a call, it would say "already 2 ongoing calls".
I uninstalled it, and now each time i try to install it again i get the same error message "Installation error - insufficient storage available".
I have 5.22GB available on the internal SD card, and 573MB on the internal phone storage, and i have no external SD card.
I tried to contact the Skype support, sent them something like 10 different emails, but each time they came up with stupid answers and in the end they couldn't find a solution, so they said
"Please note that the message you are receiving is an operating system message and is not a Skype message.
We suggest that you contact Samsung to find out under which circumstances the operating system returns this message and what can be done to make an installation possible."
I tried to contact Samsung, but they didn't even reply.
I started a thread in the Android Market Help Forum and one guy suggested to use adb to delete the skype folder
So i rooted my device with z4root and also did the OneClickLagFix V2.2+
I managed to install the Android SDK and get the adb up and running, but when i try to delete the skype folder, this is what i get
# rm -R /data/com.skype.raider
rm -R /data/com.skype.raider
rm failed for /data/com.skype.raider, No such file or directory
#
basically there is no such folder..
at this point i really don't know what to do, and i hope that someone here is able and willing to help me.
I think i gave all the possibly needed information to help you fixing my problem, but if you need more please just ask.
Thanks a lot and by the way big up to this forum, so many useful informations in here!
Cheers
Pedro
update
i installed Titanium Backup
if i go to the Backup/Restore tab and scroll to the very botton, the last one is com.skype.raider, but it has a line on it and i'm not sure what that means (see attached image)
if i click it, all the options are grayed out, so i can't uninstall it..
if i click and hold, a different menu comes up, where most of the options are grayed out as well, i can only do Assign Labels, Explore and View in Market.
If i click Explore, it says:
com.skype.raider
files/
shared.lck 0B
defetto/
main.db-journal 8.0KB
any idea what's going on? thanks in advance
Never mind, i made it!
I bought an application from the market called Root Explorer, i couldnt find a free one doing the same, basically giving full access to my folder structure.
Anyway, i was able to find the com.skype.raider folder and delete it..
after that, next install went fine!
the correct path was /data/data/com.skype.raider
so if you have the same problem, you can use abd and delete the folder and you don't need to buy the above mentioned app..
p.s. how do i set this thread as answered?
Had a similar problem! I couldn't downlaod anything from the market. Unmounting the sdcard has fixed the issue. Thx http://media.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
