I just complete the process of having TWO of my Tilts repaired by PPC Techs. I was completely satified with their work, speed, etc. If you get into a situation where you need repairs (or need parts!!) check these guys out.

Hi guys,
I'm looking for any details of a Tilt repair center that might be able to repair my tilt. I previously bought it off eBay and the seller is not replying to my emails for procedures on how to get it repaired, so assume that this is not a warranty claim and that I'll be shelling out for all costs associated.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Btw, this is in regards to the battery consumption problem detailed in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371734&page=16
Thanks.
I'm on the same boat, bought it off ebay, denied the warranty from Squaretrade and don't know if ATT will cover my problem. I haven't tried yet but i will... i'll tell them something like i recieved it as a present from a relatvie who bought it from an ATT store with no contract.
I'd suggest going to an ATT store and trying your luck, if they deny to repair it for you then head over to pocketpctechs.com. I know they repair pda's. Or you could directly call HTC USA, get their number from their site, or call ATT customer service and see if they can give it to you.
The battery drain problem seems software related and not hardware (atleast in my case)
have you tried changing your radio?
I'd love to goto an AT&T store but unfortunately I'm all the way in Australia. Let us know how you go with trying to claim directly from AT&T with no paperwork. I'm hoping they have an internal register of serial numbers/imei's that they can refer to when determining whether items are still under warranty or not.
In regards to the software issue; I've upgraded to all different roms and radios but none of them seem to turn the battery consumption down below 130mA in standby. I've even disabled all commuications items and left the today screen empty but no joy.
Ok here is my problem!
I have purchased a used Tytn II and it has some problems!
I sent it in for repair (still under warranty) 3 times and they told me they have fixed the problems, but the problems are still there!
I finally asked for a replacement device and they told me that they never replace phones, no matter what the problem is!
Here are the problems I have with my phone:
It loses connection ever so often, it turns off and on (restarts) and it sometimes tells me that there is no sim card, even tough the sim card is present and functioning!
My question is, how can I convince them to give me a new phone?
Becouse it is apparent that they are unable to fix the problem!
The warranty is going to expire soon!
Please I would be glad if someone could give me some suggestions!
Any suggestions at all!
Well you can try going up the chain, or filing a report with a company like the Better Business Bureau.
You can also try and see if there is a Rom update or one of the cooked roms that you can install here that might fix the problem... or even another radio.
Sometimes, and more often then not, those problems are caused by software then hardware.
If you do decide to try another radio or rom, make sure you read through the Wiki first. IF you do this and dont read through the instructions first, you can ruin your phone.
I don't know who your carrier is, but there is a one year warranty with at$t. Unless it is carelessness. i.e. LIberal application of oil.
but like the previous poster stated, more than likely it is software. Please provide a little more information. What rom, radio and apps do you have installed?
I rang up trying to get a second hand handset (Sony k800i) SIM unlocked, cos i dont have a cable for it.
they said i would need to know the number of the sim that activated the phone to determine whether it had $80 of recharge or 6months use (which it has had both, but not on the original sim).
This is fine except i have no idea who was original activator. it is essentially now unfindoutable.
after explaining this to the girl (whom i assume was not in a call centre on this continent) 5 times, she repeated that i had to find it several more times, to which point i just hung up, because she was not willing to accomodate that i could not do it.
does anyone have a work around for this? (aside from spending money on a cable or on the online unlockers, i.e. get optus to come to the party?)
Cheers,
With my experience (used to be a supervisor in a call center), I handled several accounts (telecommunications, gaming console and some technical account) what they usually do is give you an unlock code if you are the original owner of the phone, but if not they will keep on asking you some information that you "really" don't know just like that girl asking you. For the reason "security purposes", they are thinking like you stole the phone or some what like that. They have the unlock code for that but they just won't give it to you. With samsung phones, it goes like this...if you got a second hand phone from someone and it is locked with..let's say verizon...and you want to use it with AT&T..first you have to call verizon to ask for their permission so you can use their phone with a different network, if you are lucky enough they'll give it to you and they'll advise you to call the manufacturer of the phone so you can have the rest of the unlock code. When you call the manufacturer of the phone, they'll ask you if verizon gave you any unlock codes and if you do have they'll give you the rest. Well, that's how it works with samsung. I am not particular with SE. Here's the thing man, if you think that their customer service is from a call center, never hang up the phone, stay on the line as long as you can, if you stay longer let's say more than an hour and keeps on insisting, that agent will give up on you, one of the reason is that in a call center they have this what they called "AHT..average handling time..etc" of course if differs defending on the account that they are handling so for example that girl is allowed to talk to you and resolved your issue in anyway (as in anyway like brush you off) within 8mins and you stayed longer than 8mins that will ruin her AHT, her score for that day, she will fail her daily AHT, weekly AHT, monthly AHT and so on and she might lose her job. So to make it short since I am explaining it too long already and since you want some other ways to unlock the phone by not paying online unlockers and buying a data cable just to unlock it..just stay on the phone longer, as long as you can, repeat everything but if she still refuses to help you ask for a supervisor/tier 2/level 2 wahtsoever ...she will say "my supervisor will tell you the same thing"..tell her to get lost and still insist for a supervisor/tier 2/level 2 wahtsoever. If you were able to talk to a supervisor then that might resolve that. But if that supervisor is as a**h**e as the agent then you're doom, no way to unlock you SE for free but to buy a data cable or have it unlock online. Whew...in the other hand I am a good supervisor and since I am a good one let me see what I can do to help you out, ok? PM me the SN, IMEI or CDA of that phone and let me see if I can still contact my old folks.

my friend emailed me this sites, try to check this out but still you need a cable

well my friend said unlock codes does not work on all phones. some phone needs to be unlock via a software some just codes. k800i needs a software and of course a cable and he said you need a K800i.mbn firware etc...

try this..maybe...you might find the original activator of that phone...

Where < or > are directions on the joystick, and * is the bottom left hand button on the keypad.
Cheers for your indepth response. i knew that it could be done, and i told her, just like you say, she repeated the script.
i had a look in the phone system menu (<*..<*) but not sure where to see how / when it was activated?
the phones IMEI is **
Network simlock is at setting 4, this obviously means locked, but does it mean anything else? is there some sort of code level list?
Optus customer service is crap at best, **** at worst....
Some how they manage to be worse than other fine outfits like dodo
Hi, I am in need of some help with my MDA Compact which is on a T-Mobile contract.
I am having a number of issues, a lot which have occured since I got it just over a year ago but I have lived with until now. The main issue I have with it now which is quite a major issue is that I am not receiving all of my calls!
I have had a number of people say that they cannot get in touch with me as their call to my phone goes straight to answerphone as if its switched off or has no signal. I then later get a text from T-Mobile saying I have a missed call. Now I know its not turned off and this fault is occuring in full strength signal areas so I assume it is a fault with the phone or software.
I was told by T-Mobile that they needed to send it away and it would be upto 2 weeks before I got it back, I cannot do without it for that long and my old Vario II's battery has died now so cant use that. They said it would just have a software update and I could do that myself.
The other issues I have had with it include....
Turning on screen and it totally freezes, nothing works including the power button, I have to remove the battery.
Press phone button to make a call and it takes me to the programs screen, this happens 2-3 times before sorting itself out.
Internet page gets stuck in ladscape mode or slow to return to portrait.
Hanging in screens and buttons slow to react
Crazed screen as if the screen is cracked, rebooting it is only cure.
On the make call screen, last two dialled numbers appear but keypad is missing although when you press the screen where the numbers should be they appear as each is pressed.
When receiving a message the phone vibrates and will not stop, it continues until phone is turned off.
I sometimes get a phantom unread email that is not there, have to delete email account and set it back up again to clear it.
Back of phone gets very hot when using Web 'n' walk
Also I have Sync'd with my old computer at work last year which was fine. I have downloaded Activesync 4.5(I think) to my laptop and connected my phone to try and back it up. It Sync's but will not copy any contacts, it says I have to disconnect device, download Outlook & open it but I already have Outlook(I have XP home edition 2002 SP3 & Outlook Express 6)
There have been many other faults which I cannot remember right now, I love the phone but I will end up binning it soon if I cannot sort it.
Now heres the problem, I would like to back up all my contacts etc then upgrade my phone but without voiding the warranty. Thing is I have not got a clue where to start.
I have a good basic knowledge of computers but reading the site talking about cooking ROM's etc baffles me a bit.
I need a basic step by step guide to doing this and the best upgrade without voiding the warranty if I can as I have 3-4 months contract left.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If you wanna upgrade to any official TMobile ROM for your device, just select one from either official site (TMobile support or HTC support, dunno how you receive support for your device) or you can find it over here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Diamond_Upgrades. If you scroll down on this page you will also find a direct link to Tmobile support.
If that's all you wanna do, then you're good to go as long as you follow the instructions of the RomUpdateUtility (RUU) that comes with the official ROM.
However, if you wanna unlock (which doesn't mean sim unlock) your phone to be able to flash (=upgrade) any ROM (custom, different language, different carrier etc etc), then prepare yourself for a serious piece of reading; everybody on this forum started this way, feeling overwhelmed with information and scared of bricking their phone and voiding warranty. Btw..these links are for GSM devices only. GSM is a device with a sim card, if you don't have a sim card then you have a CDMA device, and that's a differten story at some points.
This is a good way to start:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400402
You have to realize that if you unlock your phone you always gonna void your warranty; luckily there's also a way back to restore to factory settings; more info can be found over here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=537496
Before you start doing anything...write on a piece of paper:
- your actual SPL version
- your actual Radio version
- your actual ROM version
Google this forum to find the download links for this stuff and be sure you have those three (original) pieces (of software) stored and safe on your computer, to ensure you can always go back to factory settings.
Hope i gave you a start and good luck!
Oo.... Outlook express isn't the same as Outlook, To be able to sync your device via Activesync you have to have Outlook from Microsoft Office installed on your computer

Darn it, knew there would be something!
Thats great, thanks for your help.
BTW, do you think that the update will cure the receiving calls issue?

Honestly, i have no clue if upgrading would solve your problem; your problems might just as well be hardware related, i really can't say.
My first shot would be an official software update from Tmobile, that indeed you can easily perform yourself, and no warranty issue, cuz it's all official.
And if that wouldn't do the trick, well, if i would have your performance on my diamond i wouldn't hestitate to send it in for repair if it still has warranty. That would be my second shot, cuz i think either Tmobile or HTC will/must do some hard- and software testing before returning the device to you, and if they can't solve the problem via software upgrade they have to perform hardware repair as well.
Can't you get a temporary device from the service center? I still have a almost new Qtek 9100 here for you to borrow at no costs, but i'm not responsible for any back or shoulder damage you get from walking around with that thing
I'm facing a problem that I am unable to solve for a while. I need to read a KMN5X000ZM-B209 EMMC from a Nokia Lumia Windows 8 phone, and so far I have been unable to do so. The EMMC contains vital data that I cannot afford to loose.
I have purchased both the Easy JTAG Box and the Advance Box. I have seen this exact EMMC type being mentioned in the 12.40 update for Advance Box, but I have been unable to read it yet. I received a wiring diagram for the EMMC in another topic, although I have not been able to verify it, and had a specialist do the soldering work to connect the EMMC. So far, without success. I am either getting 0x5E5E5E responses from the ATF Box, and a general error message from the Easy JTAG Box.
I have contacted the shop and the company of the Advance Box, but they haven't responded to my e-mails asking for any paid service anywhere in the world to make this work. So all I'm stuck with is a bunch of expensive hardware, no manual, no clear error message, and no support from both the shop and the creators.
If anyone has a fail-safe method to read the full EMMC, without any risk of damaging it, I am willing to pay good money. In fact, I am flat out offering $1000 right now to the person or company that can prove to me that they can safely do it, and of course after receiving the full EMMC dump.
I live in The Netherlands, but I am willing to travel anywhere, as long as success can be guaranteed. If the software settings are to be checked, I can do video chat (Skype or otherwise) and will also pay for your help if any significant progress is made. If I need different hardware, different software or different wiring of the EMMC that can also be arranged.
As you can read above, I am quite desperate for a solution at this point. If you can help me, or know someone who can, please respond to this post or in a PM.
Thank you!
