Hi,
Please could anyone advise on a tool to save WiFi settings (keys + SSIDs) and/or copy them so that they can be re-applied when you flash a new ROM?
Can UC do this?
Thanks,
Phil
UC does do that and a whole lot more. It's a matter of exporting the reg keys and adding them to your provisioning xml.

hey guys sorry for the dumb question but i installed the new opera beta and now my video links (flash video bundle) opens with opera (doesnt work with opera). How do i change it back to pie?

Same problem here...
Any solutions?
Thanks
I was looking for answer to this too...
Take a look Schap's advanced config 1.1... it has a file association tool that may be what you need. Use search function, easy to find
File associations & correct image & arguments can be a task easier said than done. I would be more than happy to post the correct registry changes if you want t go there.
However, for a quick & easy solution you can use Sprite back up if you have a somewhat recent back up (like everyone should).
To do this just launch Sprite in advanced mode & select a partial restore. The only file you want to select is called system settings & it is a sub-item of system data.
This will restore your file associations without messing up you programs or other file settings & will leave you with a fuly functioning Opera without sacrificing associations like html, hml, xml, etc. that are better associated to PIE for many. Try this! it works! If you realy want to modify the registry by hand, let me know & I'll post the settings for WWE ROM's
Hi folks.
At first i have to say, that this is a somehow unclean and tricky solution, but it works somehow and maybe it can be improved.. There are some threads on this forum, which deal with that, but i'm going to describe, what i did, to get it working.
You need:
- The new Touch IT 2.1-ROM (don't know yet, if it works with other ROMs - think only if it's the same build)
- A backup from a german ROM (mine was made by SPB-backup from the cmEX-image, also don't know if other ROMs/backup tools work)
- The language files from here (German.rar)
- A registry editor (I used PHM regedit)
First i took all the mui-files out, by using the Windows search and copying them into another folder, then i transferred them via ActiveSync into the \Windows folder.
Then I put a link to the registry tool and to the explorer and PHM regedit in the TF3D programs panel (you'll need that, because after changing the registry to use german language your start menu will be screwed up for some reason and you can't access any program anymore).
Now you have to change two registry values and optionally set your region in the regional settings:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI]
"SysLang"="1031" (for german)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\MUI]
"CurLang"="1031"
-> It's time to do a soft-reset and you'll notice, that the pin-dialogs and so on are in german.
Go to the TF3D programs panel (as i said: Start menu will be screwed up - there are links for programs and settings, but they won't work) and start explorer to execute your backup.
After that your ROM should be fully german.
This is probably not a very good solution and it's kind of buggy, but it is a start..
I couldn't get it until know, how to cook the language files into a ROM (tried it with extracting the new Touch IT 2.1 and inserting the files from German.rar, but ended up with the device starting up and showing a black screen all the time).
If somebody could help me out with that, i would, if i am allowed, make a german version of the Touch IT 2.1 ROM.
Any additions or corrections appreciated!!
Anyone know how to change the default storage location of Music, Documents and so on through the registry?
Don't want to install Advanced Config..
Thanks
Try the Advanced Configuration Tool v3.3
Most of the stuff I wanted to relocate was configurable in that tool. A lot easier than ploughing around the registry yourself.

I tried to change the locations in Advanced Config, and got it to work OK. But documents that I sync with my computer still gets copied to the device My Documents and not the Memory Card. Any ideas?
Hi,
I would like to customize a ROM for myself but i would need your advice...
Is it possible to use a ROM (Lets say NRG ROM 2.5), and to customize it (reg tweaks, MMS config, Exchange Server config with password set by default, install some cab and put the registration keys by default....) ?
If this is possible, is it hard to update it ? for exemple if NRG updates his ROM, i also want to be up to date with mine, is it easy to "synchronize", or reapply all previous actions without too much hassle ?
Do you have any links i should read to start a Kitchen ?
Thanks in advance
It might be worth having a search around for SASHIMI. It'll let you collect .cabs and .reg files etc and automate running then after youve flashed a new ROM.
if you figure out how your reg details are kept for each piece of software (in the registry or a file etc.), you can get it to reinstate them after flashing too.
You could DL the latest verion of a ROM, pull it apart and change whatever you like and then flash it to your phone but it'd be a pain for pain version.
Using sashimi, its also easy to update your setup when indiviudual apps and settings change, without needing to reflash your phone and then re-sync etc.
The way I see it, sashimi only really needs setting up the once and then given a tweak when something changes rather than needing to be re-done as with a ROM...the only down-side I can really find is it needs running after a hard-reset, whereas if you cook the changes in they wouldnt (so its no good for 'find or nuke my stolen phone' type apps).
I believe a lot of cooked ROMs include 'User Customization' (UC) which does a similar thing, but i havent used it myself.
Also, I may be wrong, but i think you could need certain details from the original chef before you can pull apart a cooked ROM too (i remember reading about file somewhere in your kitchen, memory fails me though)-and, of course, the chefs permission
Let us know what you try out.

Hi!
In my device I have saved passwords to various WiFi hotspots around the city, so when I get to a certain place I can connect to their hotspot automatically.
I will be installing a new custom ROM and would like to somehow save SSID/password data for all my hotspots and have them restored on the new ROM.
Is there a way to do it?
My current ROM is some version of NRG.
Thank you!

You can either locate the registry and export it or use a backup program such as SPB back up and restore it that way, but you probably should locate it in the registry so you know eactly what to restore, as restoring other registry settings can mess up a new ROM.
Couldn't find anything in the registry. Can those settings be hidden somewhere else? It's pretty simple to do it in desktop Windows version, so I guess the same should be available for WinMo. Thx!
The settings must be stored under:
HKCU\\Comm\EAPOL\Config\
