Its not ringing when a call comes in. It also does not vibrate.
The sound is up on the PPC and Ringer and if i go in to the phone settings it will play a ringtone fine.
Any ideas?
may be a reset might help? It also happened to me and after a reset, it all works good.
Don't know if it's the same thing with me, but my kaiser also at some point of day refuses to ring (still vibrates ok). It won't play mp3s with GSPlayer or MediaPlayer. Sometimes you can hear the song playing really quietly (only hear it if you press your ear to speaker).
It has happened like that for 3 days now. The sound will come back if I hit the tytn II gently (more like knock it). Althoug since today I'm not sure if it's the knock or the keyboard moving wich brings the sound back.
Any ideas?
What I've tried so far:
- Muting, unmuting
- changing volume
- soft reset
hard reset it. may be some programs you've installed might be conflicting. If the hard reset don't fix your problem, then you have a faulty unit. You can also try pocket mechanic to clean the registry and stuffs. Very helpful program.
Ok, will try hard reset.
Although I doubt it will help. Before hard reset, there was some very faint sound coming from the speaker. And speakerphone didn't work at all.
Back to resetting...
Try to change the ring tone to a different one, mine was doing the same thing it would only virate, I changed to a different ringtone and it worked fine.
I did try to change the ringtone. Every time the problem emerged. The problem was that the ringtone wasn't the only thing not playing. There was no sound for any of the events. And the speakerphone option also didn't work.
I did a hard reset last night. It didn't help. So I gave it up and went to sleep. I left my tytnII on a USB connection to my laptop. In the morning I checked if the problem was still there and found that the sound is back - the ringtones work.
I put it back on USB connection to sync. Copied an mp3 to test if it can play it (it has played it before). And there the sound went again - I can only hear it playing faintly if I hold the speaker to my ear. The ringtones won't even play when I check them in notification sounds setup - not even the default built-in ones.
Could it be a temperature issue? The tytnII sound was fine when I picked it up in the morning, it was room temperature. But it gets slightly warmer when I charge it or sync it.
I have done soft resets. I can play sounds in the phone settings options and music plays it will not vibrate when calling.
Resolved it was the 3G Dialer app causing the issue. Now i need a new one i hate the orange look....
I had an issue like this, but it was due to ringtones stored on the storage card ... and when the phone would wake up, since it takes the storage card driver a few secs to load, it wouldn't ring.... and I resolved it by moving my everyday ringtones to main memory
the thing is the rings are not on the card......
Maybe its the rom's radio
sleuth started to explain this in his upgrade however no one explains how to downgrade the radio. I believe mine is doing the same thing however I get no sound. maybe its the radio.
Draqula, did you solve your problem? Im having the same issue on my tytnII. I cant hear ANY SOUND. But if I play an mp3, for example, and I knock close to the speaker, the sound starts.
Any ideas?
My problem solved: The speaker was changed under warranty.
Hey I have a Diamond on TRL ROM 2, but I just flashed it to try and get rid of a problem I was having with the stock ROM, however it's still there.
After a certain time (not sure how long because I realize it after), the sound for my phone stops, this includes my ringtone, sms alert and even when I try to play music. I miss all my calls and text unless I have vibrate on. Then, when I get a text message it starts to vibrate non-stop and I have to turn off my phone.
When I soft reset it or turn it off and on, it works fine again but only for a certain time.
Does anyone know what's causing this, if it's a setting or ANYTHING, please help!!!
Mine has nothing to do with my bluetooth by the way.
I have this problem too, but my diamond only stops ringing; I see that this problem occours when I disconnect my jabra headset after playing audio manager thru bluetooth.
Anyone knows how to fix it?
Thanks.
little up, still having this problem, today I've lost two calls...
Any help is very appreciate, thank you.
HTC say to make sure your ringtone is on the main ROM - not the extended area (memory card).
If for any reason the card becomes unavailable (ie a blip or USB connection to PC etc) then the phone temporarily loses its path to the ring tone until a soft reset or similar...
It will either endlessly vibrate if set to vibrate & ring or be silent if set to ring only.
Happened to me a few times.
But not had it since I copied my ringtone to the main memory.
Just a thought... Ignore if your ringtone if it is already on the main ROM.
I'm going to try that and let you know, hopefully you are right!
Thanks for the tip
my ringtone is set to oldphone2, so I think that's in ROM...?
Yeah actually well I don't got my diamond to try it right now, but doesn't it copy the ringtone to the ROM folder if you set it from internal memory.
Plus not only does it not ring, doesn't play mp3s, and even if you pick up the call you can't hear incoming sound and caller can't hear you neither.
So that can't be it, but thanks for trying!
Yes, I spoke too soon as have had this again.
It loses all sound until reset.
I've now experienced this on the original and Bepe's ROM - it must be a fault in HTC's software or configuration as I've not had it on other 6.1 devices.
I'm sure HTC are working on it...
have you installed srs wow hd? ive had this issue with the old version of this software...
Hi, no i got this almost the first day (soem weeks ago), before I had installed anything. I'm running Bepe's ROM with just PocketPlayer and got it again...

I don't think I have that problem installed, are you saying it may be what's causing the problem?
Or it may fix it, if so
Could you give me a link for download, or info on how I can get that installed on my device?
Thanks
Yes hopefully HTC fixes this really really soon with an update!

simply install the 1.21 cab then soft reset. works for me!
let me know...
I have the same problem. Here it's the MediaPlayer I think.
Still no sound at all
I tried everything you guys said here. And still, no sound at all on my Diamond. I put also the Elite 2.0 thinking that if i put another ROM the Sound will appear. But no. I am realy stucked.
What the "#¤#" should I do to make the sound to work?????
mate your gonna have to return your unit to service centre or place of purchase. I had the same problem, and there are others on this forum that have posted for help about this matter.
I had same issue with you losing all sound intermittently, unit would non stop vibrate when alarm sounded. Hoped it would be a software issue since soft reset fixed it temporarily. My phone has now been away for 3 weeks, still waiting for it to come back
I've got the same problems.
I found one temporary solution, and that's to copy a .WAV or .MIDI ringtone to my documents\my ringtones and set that as your ringtone, or other notifications.
It seems that the problem is with .wma files, at least with my device...

Hey I installed, and yeah the problem still remains, I think this is just to improve sound, I have NO sound...
I can't believe HTC haven't given us something to fix this yet, because with no sound this phone is useless and after spending $700 that's really frustrating.

Thanks, I think you might be on to something, since the media player default music (sample) are wma, and others have being saying it's the media player.
I'll give this a try later today and let you know, thanks!
Edit: How about using mp3s as well? Or should I just do wav?

I' m not sure, but I guess all but .wma is ok.
I use midi's btw, because there is an annoying delay with .wav
no sound at all
In my case, I took the advice of #15. For me it was easy since I just got the phone so my provider changed the phone imedately.
With the new device I put the Hard SPL OliNex 1.40 and then the TRL 2.0 ROM. And happily the device works well.
I installed the SRS WOW 1.2 which made my music playback to delay between actions. So I unistalled and this delay between actions (Play, Seek, Pause, etc) dissapeared.
For somereason, my phone is stuck in Headphone mode.
like on the top corner, it shows that my phone is still in headphone state.
the problem is that even when my headphone is unplugged my phone is still in that state...
...meaning that, without my headphones plugged in, the other party cannot hear me and i cannot hear them.
i tried soft and hard resetting the phone, but nothing works.
Everything else is working phone, it just that i cannot make a call, answer a call, listen to music without my headphone....
Any help or tips is greatly appreciated.
Thanks alot!!
it already happend to my phone.. what i did is i connect the headset again and did remove my battery and remove the headset then turned on the phone again and the headset icon disappears.
if your problem still continues, i guess you should go to sony ericsson for replacement it seems your jack is grounded or alike. i heard that the jack is somewhat tight and could put a groove in you headset male jack.
PROBLEM SOLVED....
http://www.portability.nl/windows-m...artphone-stuck-in-headset-or-car-profile.html
apparently its a hardward problem...
I had the same problem. This is what i did put your headset back in turn windows media player on now start a song and pull out the headset. Now it should get out of headset mode. Thats what has been working for me twice.
The other thing to watch for too, and this was a big problem with the older model HTC/SPV Devices, is that the detection switch inside the socket gets stuck.
I had this happen many times on my various SPV's up until HTC Started producing models where the headphones plugged into the mini USB.
If it does happen to be the switch getting stuck, you can try plugging in the headset and wiggling it about a bit, or i found that a wooden cocktail stick was a rather good device, to just poke in and rattle about a little bit.

Hi there,
got the same problem. Tried everything, soft- and hard-reset, cleaned the connector with some alcohol....
Just before i got in the mood to open the case to have a deeper look at the connector, i stumbled over here

This also worked for me
As a conclusion, i think there are several reasons (as usual ) that lead to this problem.
It may partly rely on the connector itself, e.g. bad "on" resistance of the contacts or mechanical twisted in any way.
Maybe some of the internal pull-up resistors are to weak also.
Additionally the software driver may have some issues, to indicate the "plug out" properly.
I also had such issue on HTC universal once upon a time.
It was also partly software related. In other words some "plug-in-plug-out" loops while playing some music solved the issue on that device.
Anyway, this maybe called another weird bug on a winmob platform.
Thanks for the hint again!!!
Best regards,
scholbert
It's me again
I wonder if these headphone problems had gone with the latest firmware.
With R1AA017 the "headphone mode" issue could be reproduced a 1000 times.
1. Today screen, plug in the headphone
2. plug out headphone, headphone symbol stays active
3. plug in headphone again and start WM player
4. start some music, plug out headphone, symbol is gone, sound from the speaker
EDIT:
As it seems with R2AA006 the "headphone mode" issue is gone.
1. Today screen, plug in the headphone, headphone symbol appears
2. plug out headphone, headphone symbol disappears
Works as it should!
Anyway, please report if you ever got these problems and what kind of firmware you are using.
Let's try to concentrate on stock images (R2... , R3...), otherwise this would get very confusing
Cheers,
scholbert
sent it back for repair ... this happened to me twice and i sent it back for repair and the problem was with the headphone not the phone itself
Hi it happened to me as well. so after few times i was pi.... off and i send it to back to SE repair centre. and i also claim a crack in case. and believe or not they fix it in 12 days. That means SE knows those problems very well. my advise is dont be shy and send it there , they will fix it without any hassle.
try to drain the battery and charge it back up.
I also sent it back. After 5 weeks the idiots at SE Service returned it unrepaired, charged me 40 €, and claimed that the phone was once opened (it was not).
Will now buy an HTC or Nokia. Never ever again an SE.
It Got Solved
Hi It's very simple take your stylus and insert it into the headphone socket and move very gently, It will solve the problem.
For me it had worked always.
Weird but works
Hi all
ive been having the same prob here ... :
phone remains in headset mode even after jack is unplugged.
have been trying:
turning registry entry
blowing (worked at very rare times )
stylus/ pin playing ..
till now, no good solution
my request:
is there a way ( cab install, registry hack) so as to disable the whole of the headset.. its ok if i dont use it anymore.. ! i want it software, like some sort of software to disable the headset module completely ...
awaiting reply.
thanks & Regards,
Yeah I think there is a way. If you search for when I posted about this last year I think someone says how to do it in the comments.
Lots of people seem to be claiming that software tricks can solve this problem. If that worked for you, that's a co-incidence. Even re-flashing a different ROM won't sort out a mechanical fault. Just go get a safety pin.
my experience about the headphone problem
First time, when happaned I was crazy, because I coudn't answer a call and the phone looks like was broken. I suggest,(not a big deal) to close the player program prior you disconnet you headphone or in radio panel mode, to swicth to speaker listenig first and then plug off headphone. Nothing else, don't worry
Well, since I'm using a new phone I've decided I'm going to open my phone up to manually fix this problem as for me, what happened was, a very tiny screw got lodged within the headphone jack. I managed to get the screw out but I think I damaged the connector responsible for signaling that a headset is plugged in.
I have one problem however, I dont have the security screwdrivers nessary to gain access so I'm wondering, if anyone know any tricks to open the phone up. I've heard I can use locktite to bond the screw to whatever I want to use however that would be something I'd consider if I cant think of anything else. Until then I'll try using a screw driver just large enough to wedge itself in place and unscrew but if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please if you would be so kind.
In the meantime if I make any headway I'll let you know what happens. (Does anyone want to know anything if I do open it up?).
Ok I opened it up... Let me tell you it certainly was difficult. My phone had suffered the cracking problem which made it somewhat hard to take apart without it falling to bits but I managed nevertheless.
As I peeled away parts of the phone to get to the small headphone jack, I instantly found the problem, the little clip that performs as the switch to headset mode was buckled... I got some really tiny pliers and I managed to re-bend it however, the clip wasn't touching the contact switch! *RAGE*. So I play around with it a little more and realise hang on... it's moving too much, I then noticed that the clip was actually cracked *ANGER*.
So I decided... ok, off goes the clip. I permanently soldered the connection instead and hey presto, no more headset mode, of course this means, I can never use headset mode but that's not a problem for me.
If anyone wants any help, please feel free to ask . I managed to give the keyboard a clean also! (No more double presses or keys that dont respond either!).
With this goddamn problem, is it possible to connect stereo bluetooth with sound?

Answering the last question: YES it should work as bluetooth audio has nothing to do with the headphone jack and I normally used bluetooth headset with the headphone mode stucked
coming back to topic It seems it is depending on case more soft or hardware-related. in my case it was rather hardware, no mediaplayer/radio method helping and putting stylus in helped only two times.
So I used compressed air to blow through the jack and then cleaned it with the earbud head/material ONLY (as the bud does not fit in) on a wooden stick (but then you might have hard times to pull the rest of the budhead out)
Anyways it worked, so far after many tries to make sure it doesn't get stucked !
I guess in future WD40 may be even better
Man this phone is so good and yet so full of bugs !!
Hello, greetingz to all. I recently purchased used Xperia, and it worked well untill few days ago, when i start to have problems with microphone (in phone). The sound reception is very poor and people i talk to can barely hear me or not hearing me at all. I tried all and nothing works, except when i connect headset in vibration-only mode. Then the reception of the sound from the headset microphone perfect. But not when the sounds on the phone are on, or in any other case. I also tried does it record sound on video or audio for MMS - same thing, just crackling noise.
I would appreciate if anybody could help with this. Thanks in advance.
P.S. I did hard reset, i did reinstall software from SE Update (even i had most recent one), nothing happened.
Same problem here!
But i can use the headset when the sound is on.
Im afraid i lose my phone for a while, again. I had software problems before.
I think i will burn a good rom when it's back.
in settings->system->Microphone AGC
turned on ?
AGC == automatic gain control which mean the mic adjust it's sensitivity according to the volume of the surroundings
Rudegar,
i wish i read your tip before i brought it to the shop
but i think it would be standard because i also tried a hard reset?
there is also a crack in my xperia, so i sent it anyway
greets, robbin
Hi,
a few days ago the volume randomly became UBER low. Soo I thought of it as a problem in the firmware (darky's r4). That rom was kinda rubbish; so instead; I flashed dlev 5.0. Awesome rom by the way. And then, over night, when I woke up again; the volume became really low again.
I have no idea how to fix this, rebooting doesnt seem to help.
Anyone have any ideas?
Assuming you're on a kernel that supports the voodoo sound, you might want to try the voodoo control app (I believe it's in the Market). Once you have it installed, you can put a shortcut on your desktop to the headphone amp widget, and that will let you pull the volume up again.
Not a permanent solution, I admit, but probably quicker than digging down several menu levels.

I plugged in my headphones; and everything is fine.
So it seems like the problem is just with the loudspeaker.
I can't even hear when someone calls
You said you installed a new rom - by any chance, did you restore apps with Tibu? If so, did you restore any system data?
I only ask because if you had restored some system data, it might have restored a bad audio setting that is affecting the external speaker when the headphones aren't plugged in.
I know that as part of the Voodoo sound control, you can tell it to drop the volume level if there is a change in whether the headphones are plugged in or not (as an ear saver or to prevent blaring sound when the headphones become accidentally unplugged).
If you didn't do any restoring, I would just double-check the volume level that is set in the audio menu. If it's all the way up, and you're still having sound issues, then I think that a faulty speaker (like you suggested) is probably the case.

I had this problem starting on darky's rom. Didn't use tibu or any sort of backup software; installed everything fresh and new.
Checked audio levels; and everything is on max.
Where in voodoo do I tell it it lower volume when headphones are plugged in?
Thanks
Er.... the loudspeaker just randomly started working fine again.....
I bet it will become weird in a few minutes though :S

In the voodoo control app, if you have the "map volume keys hack" activated, two settings below that is "jack plug-in safety".
Every kernel supports voodoo sound!

Haw Haw Haw... I gave my phone a good spanking. Seems like something is loose near the back key/search key. A few good hits and the speaker works again.

Nothing like a good dose of non-passive hardware reconstruction to get things working again.
Believe it or not this is actually abbery common problem with this phone. The speaker will stop...then you press firmly on the speaker then it starts again...
