Have root, need help where to get auto rotate - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I recently installed root and have android dev phone 1 with version 1.1
however i want to install
1. Multi-Touch Browser - Ipod like pinch/unpinch to zoom
2. Auto Rotate
and cannot seem to find out how to do this as every forum i read recommends downloading the jf 1.41 but i have already done this... help ?

Auto-rotate for browser should be in browser-menu-more-settings. You need "DroidSans for Root" from the market to turn on auto-rotate for most of the rest of the phone. Multi-touch is built into the browser, try moving fingers together and apart while looking at a large webpage(zoom doesn't work on mobile pages ie. google mobile home)

DroidSans Tweak Tools for the auto-rotate. The multi-touch should already be included in JF's release (RC33 of course)
edit: too slow...haha

lol, trying to pay your penance too?

No luck with droidsans as comes up with 'bad version' ?!
Also cant find option for multi touch on browser and have tried on bbc.co.uk (full version)
have i got a faulty version - i agreed to the holiday updates, was this correct?

Kernel version
2.6.25-01845-g85d4f0d
[email protected] #27
Build number
holiday_devphone-userdebug 1.1 UNLOCKED
130444 test-keys

make sure you download the version for your ADP b/c there is another1 for RC33 (I tough you said your is ADP) there is a difference

im sorry i didnt understand that last message,,
how did i download the wrong one ?
what did i download wrong ?
and where can i get the right one from ?

plus im a UK user if this helps?

sry, I'm on rc33 and my about looks totally different. Kernel Version-JesusFreak... Build-killa....release-keys.

Hi, i download the droid sans, and try to enable auto rotate, but it says operation failed.
I have an Rc8 modded by jf
Anyone know what can be?

Flash in Opera Problem

Hello everyone,
I isntalled Flash from Adobe's site, but although the installation is successful (it even appears in the Remove Programs list), it doesn't seem to work when I use my Opera browser. More specifically, when I enter a site containing flash, although I do not get the message "you need to install flash, etc" that encountered prior to the installation, I still do not see any kind of flash content or animation.
Do I do something wrong, or there are indeed issues with Flash and Opera mobile?
I have the same problem
i even checked enable plugins in the options
and installed the developer edition of flashlite as well
is there a better / compatible version of opera i can use ?
i would rather stay with opera then change browsers. i know other browsers support flash so it would be no help if you recommended another one to me
known issue, around dec adobe will release a fix for this problem

My camera doen't works

Hello
I'm a fan of your site, I have a nexus that operates under one froyo 2.2. SETCPU I installed it also works very well but the camera does not work, every time I try to record a video it restart the phone. But the side photo runs smoothly. What to do
Make sure you have the correct radio firmware installed.
Check from menu button --> Settings --> About Phone.
Baseband version should include "4.06". If it has "4.04" instead, you're on the old Eclair radio firmware.
Instructions on updating are here, and an easier update.zip method is here.

Beginner question: Unsure which version of froyo is on my phone

So I bought a Nexus One on craigslist. I thought it was all stock until I ran into the "cannot establish reliable sever connection" when I tried to sign into my google account. My question is how do I restore my phone back to the newest version of android 2.2. It is not unlocked (no unlocked padlock on boot screen). Under "Build number" it says "passion-userdebug Froyo FRE74 28579 test-keys." Under Android version it says "Froyo" instead of 2.2. And many of the 2.2 features are not present such as wifi tethering, and the new icons at the bottom center of the home screen aren't there. I only have the single grid icon and not the set of 3 with the browser and phone. And i'm not sure where to go from here. I want to be able to log into my gmail account and the android marketplace. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Assuming you verified you have Data Connection enabled and have the proper APN settings::::
Your seller may have rooted the phone without necessarily unlocking the bootloader. see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=710842
Also, the link I just added shows the different versions of 2.2 (missing a couple) but FRE74 doesn't look like one of them.
First find out if it is a rooted phone, Check the app drawer for any SuperUser or Spareparts icon. That or try installing Busybox from the marketplace and executing it.
If it is rooted, flash one of the many ROMS available on XDA, Cyanogen just released his beta version tonight. Personally I use Enomther Rom. Official version is out.
And BTW, read up on the process of flashing... most require you to wipe first.
and if it is not rooted....
All you need to do is do a Factory Reset
Settings / Privacy / Factory Data Reset
After that check what your Build number is.
Then you can go to your dialler and enter
*#*#checkin#*#*
What that will do is connect your phone to the Google servers, say hello, and the server will send the update to your phone. (Force OTA - Over The Air update)
My data connection is working, I browse the internet fine except for the youtube app and gmail.com. When I go to gmail.com through my browser I get "a secure data connection could not be established." But yahoomail and flickr logins work fine on both wifi and 3g. No superuser or spareparts icons in the drawer. I can't access the android marketplace since I cannot log into my google account. I did the factory restore and the build number is the same. I did the checkin from my dialer and it said "checkin failed"
So it seems like the phone is rooted but I just need to flash a rom with the froyo features I want. Any links or guides to doing this? I read and superboot seemed like the easiest way.
Sounds to me like an issue with radio... flash a new radio might do the trick. However, before I start messing around with the radio not knowing anything about my phone, I'd look into doing this first.

This will bring your Nexus One back to it's original shipping rom. It's gonna be alot of work, BUT this IS almost a $600 phone.
So I followed those directions and i'm back on android 2.1 and i can log into my google and everything seems to work fine. I want to update to 2.2 so I go to system updates, download the update, and install. But during the install process it shows the little box with the android and the loading bar but it stops and goes to the android and the exclamation point. I'm not sure what to do from here. My Build Number is ERD79
Hold Volume up and press Power (or possibly the other way around). That should bring up the recovery menu.
I tried once with the OTA update I downloaded, the phone restarted and tried to install by itself but went to the android with the !. So I download a froyo rom and rename it update.zip, not .zip.zip. And put it on my phone, I'm in the blue recovery screen and it says signature error. I'm thinking its the wrong rom i'm using.

[Q] Market Access

Hi All,
I recently bought a i9000 galaxy s from Turkey, phone doesn't have the market app by default. I want to make the minimum changes to my phone so that I can access the android market. I looked through the previous posts but I am lost. Hopefully someone can point to the right direction.
Here is the version info:
pda i9000jvjh1
phone i9000jxjg2
csc i9000trcji1
Here is what I attempted so far:
- I can access recovery/download modes.
- Rooted the phone. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739304)
- Running system/app/Vending.apk gives a parse error.
- Installed the market-enabler app
- Found a vending.apk on another website and copied it to the sd-card, I was able to install it but when I try to download an app it says: "The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly, please try again." Also when I look at the downloads tap of the market I see that things are stuck at "starting download..".
What should I do next? There is an update to Froyo available on Kies for my device, but I learnt that update doesn't have the market app either.
P.S.: I am on a Mac and have limited access to windows.
Thanks a lot.

Is this the correct section of the forum for this kind of question or should I repost somewhere else? Thanks.
Why dont you flash a whole new firmware, it comes included, you will also be stock and have no unnecessary modifications

I have been working on this issue for the past couple days but couldn't resolve it. It seems like flashing to a new firmware is the way to go. I wondering if flashing would void any warranties? Also how do I decide which firmware to use? I'd appreciate if someone could suggest a firmware. Thanks a lot.

Hey samsunghgt,
Have you found a solution for the market issue? Did you flash a new firmware? If so, whiich one did you flash ? And is it working well?

Diagonally inverted screen after flashing Custom ROM on 7 y.o. RK3066 tablet

Hello,
I recently dusted off my old RK3066 GoClever R83.2 tablet which had troubles with keeping system up on original firmware. I googled a bit and found out the same tablet goes by other names, like chinese Teclast P85HD or italian Mediacom SmartPad 875s2. I also found a couple of custom roms for the latter on some shady russian site which haven't been updated since 2013. I stared experimenting with ROMs, managed to get some to work but somehow after third or fourth flash my touch screen started acting up. I managed to enable "Show touch" option in dev settings using pc mouse and noticed that touch registration is inverted diagonally (i.e. when I slide my finger across the screen "/", touch is registered as "\").
I haven't found much information on how to fix this issue. I know that Samsung smartphones can execute dial code to update screen firmware (which is impossible to do on a tablet since there is no dialer app) and there's also method with editing build.prop or extracting and editing scripts.bin.
Editing build.prop didn't do much and I couldn't extract scripts.bin (no /dev/block/nanda directory / No block device error in ADB). I tried to flash stock GoClever ROM but it didn't fix the issue.
I was using RKBatchTool to flash the ROMs, and the current ROM name is Stock_Slim_Mod_v2 for SmartPad 875s2.
Can someone help me? I'd really want to fix this tablet.
