Invisible "MY ISP GPRS" - Any Ideas - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Greets,
It seems a number of programs, including GPSTest and XM Radio, try "MY ISP GRPS" instead of MEdiaNet. However, the ROM I am using does not show "MY ISP GPRS" and it is misconfigured.
When I go to the Connection Setup and try to add "MY ISP GPRS" it refuses, saying that it already exists. However, only MEdia Net can be seen.
Does anyone know either (i) how to make the invisible MY ISP GPRS visible so that it can be properly configured or (ii) how to delete MY ISP GPRS when it is not shown on the connection manager.
Thanks!

Start --> Settings --> Connections --> Connections --> Advanced --> Select Networks --> Change both to read "MEdia Net" --> OK --> OK --> Restart device.
All connections to the internet should now go through MEdia Net.

Problems with Skype on Custom Rom 2.17

Having problems connecting Skype via wifi. Seems to be the same bug that people are experiencing with IE (Opra works fine). I'm wondering if this will impact all wifi applications. Can anyone assist?
Otherwise the new rom is great, excellent battery life.
regards,
vespa
I have it fixed (including the IE problem)
You need to make sure your connection settings are as follows:
Start----->Settings------>Connections----->Advanced----->Select Networks
Programs that automatically connect to the internet use: My ISP
Programs that automatically connect to private network: T-mobile GPRS
Wooo hooo

Great - glad you got it working.
Now - the settings you described are "soft" - the reference to "T-Mobile GPRS" and "My ISP" are network connections "settings groups" in Microsoft pocket pc lingo. If you wanted to, you could edit each one and do things like change the GPRS gateway that they use, add a proxy or indicate that no proxy is needed, and add one or more network connections that are used by the "settings group".
It's a pretty powerful and flexible system - but whoever organized and designed the way it's all presented to users should be strung up. :x This has got to be one of the most convoluted, unintuitive user interfaces ever conceived, and it's really a disgrace because this really IS an area that lends itself very well to a clean hierarchical interface.
Anyway - what will be most telling is if you were to now look at the definition of the settings groups for "T-Mobile GPRS" and "My ISP". You will likely see that one of them uses "wap.voicestream.com" as an APN (access point name), while the other uses "internet2.voicestream.com" as the APN.
The name of the settings group is arbitrary - you just need to be sure that what's under the covers in each settings group is designated correctly for "private network" or "the Internet" connectivity, for the right APN, specifying or clearing the proxy definition, etc.
As a matter of fact, my groups are the reverse of yours -- "T-Mobile GPRS" is the name of the settings group that's being invoked on my MDA when I connect to the Internet...

[SOLVED] third party apps cannot connect

the third party apps do work with my wifi connection. when i am connected vie wifi at home everything works fine.

Look in Start>Settings>Connections>Connections>Edit my proxy server>advanced tab>HTTP
Mike
everytime I connect to active sync I losse my http settings for the proxy.
So here is what I did.
settings/connections/advanced/se;ectnetworks/edit medianet/proxy settings
This connection uses a proxy server to connect to the internet. I UNchecked that box. basicly I turned off the proxy.
now all of my apps can connect just fine.
This is with a stock ATT tilt.
I hope this helps others in the future.
At&T Tilt using HTC Kaiser ROM
nothing but IE or Email could start a data connection
Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks
It had "My ISP" selected as the default
Changed it to "MEdia Net" and everything's gravy.

If you can't see any maps or data in Live Search, look here

Ok, so after a battle with my Live Search not showing any data and unable to connect to the GPRS, I found a solution... in case anyone else has same problem, read on.
1. Reset back to all your default connection settings. It will take u 5 minutes, just follow this guide:
https://www.wireless.att.com/support/deviceConfig.do?content=KB84444.html
2. Go to your Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Advanced
Click Select Networks
Select Media NET in the first drop-down, then click corresponding Edit button
Go to "proxy settings" tab at the bottom, and UNCHECK the "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet".
Now close all the windows, restart Live Search... and boom - it should download everything just fine.
P.S:
The idea is to have all the settings exactly as ATT wants them to be, with the EXCEPTION of disabling the Proxy.

[Solved] Att Tilt won't Sync with e-mail

OK, my 8525 used to do this very well. I just got a tilt and installed several roms and they all did the same thing (duty, ATT org., and DCS) when I setup an email for a yahoo account and try to sync it says it cannot connect under these settings. But they are the default settings for att. I also checked with att and my settings are all correct. I was using the 1.58 radio now I'm starting to use 1.64 to see if that works any better. I don't know if this is a radio issue or whatever but I really need help att support isn't doing anything so I'm turning to you guys. (btw I've reset everything many many times getting the same error too)

Did you not learn anything from your 8525....?
You need to provide more info if you want help.
Start by creating a signature summarizing your device's set up.
Default is not always default....keep this in mind!
I don't know what data plan you have but I'll start with this:
Start > Setting > Connection > Connection > Advanced > Select Networks > In the Drop down box...you probably have Media Net, Try ATT Wap or vice versa.
This all I can do for you because you failed to provide more info. Based on the radios you've tried, I'm assuming you're on WM 6.1. Also, you need to address this issue in the thread of the Rom you're using.
You've said also that this issue repeats on several Roms.....What are you using to configure your Network settings?
Either Network Config or your cab file is not working properly you. You may have to manually input your settings. They are located around here somewhere or google it.

I'm sorry I thought I was providing enough info. I used the network config ROM that was built in to most of the windows 6.1 ROMs but I also used the "default" settings from att. (I ment defauld because that is what att shipps)
But if you want more info here is my network settings
When I first hit "connection settings" I have in bold "MY ISP" and "My Work Network"
if you go to manage "MY ISP" it has the config for att's isp. here are the settings:
Access Point Name: isp.cingular
UserName: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
(also set to use server IP)
_________________________________________________________________
Under the "Advance" tab I have 3 choices for each drop-down menu they are "My ISP" (which is selected for the top "programs automatically connect to the internet"), "MEdia Net", and "My Work Network" (which is selected for "programs that automatically connect to a private network)
the "MEdia Net" settings are as follows (and I have switched between using ISP and MEdia net in the drop down menu for internet and get the same problem)
Access Point Name:wap.cingular
User Name: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
(also set to use server IP)

I hope that is enough info like I said earlier my roms is currently DCS v1.7 and I'm running radio 1.64 as a side not it doesn't seem like my GPS is working correctly since it hasn't found a lock in 5min. But I think I've found the thread to help me with that. Again I'm having trouble with only syncing my e-mail althouth internet works just fine
I'm in your boat too. I have the same settings but under media net. I read one place to use the username and password you have but ATT says to leave blank and then run some cab file for proxy info. (I didn't do that) So far it has the exact settings you have, my PIE works and everything. Just can't send receive mail.
At this point though, mine just says connecting, and then asks me to verify my username and password, then I get ..
"Messages cannot be downloaded to your movile device. Make sure you are connected and that your email account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again. "
I've tried 2 different email addresses..

that's actually the first time I heard something about proxy settings. Where is that cab just in case (I'm willing to try anything)
I didn't use that cab but I did try Cingular PDA MediaNet MMS Settingsv2.cab
it should be attached.
EDIT
I know what solved my problem, paying a past due bill.
Problem Solved
OK, one piece of info that I didn't realize was important was that I am on the unlimited MEdia Net plan (which uses WAP.CINGULAR.COM) and the PDA plan, which is way more expensive uses ISP.CINGULAR.COM apparently I needed to change any network that was WAP and change it to ISP to get my pda to use things that I guess are usually covered in the PDA Data plan.
Thanks for your help everyone and I hope this can be used for someone else as well. long story short.....
media net=wap.cingular
pda plan=isp.cingular

exchange server

hi guys. i have a problem with sync with exchange server- on some roms i can sync, on some i can't. it's surely matter of certificates. is there a way to export certificates from one rom, and import them to another?
thanks in advance
Moved as not ROM Development
www.seven.com This is what I use for work. its pretty good and free.
Make sure proxy is disabled; if it is enabled, exchange does not work for me either, and on some Roms it is automatically on. Start --> Settings --> Connections tab --> connections --> Advances tab --> Select networks --> Edit (under the top drop down box) -->Proxy Settings tab --> uncheck "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet
It may not work, but hey, it's worth a try.
