Music Playback problem with media panel - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm having a problem with the music playback of the media panel, which I'm 90% sure wasn't happening before. Basically what's happening is that when i leave the music track running the phone eventually goes into sleep mode after 1 minute and then the music stops playing. After i press the power button to wake the phone the music then continues from where it stopped.
The music will also stop playing when i press the power button to turn off the screen, I'm pretty sure it never used to do this.
I've tested music playing with windows media player and while the music does still stop when i press the power button to turn off the music, media player seems to keep the phone awake when i leave it alone so the track keeps playing.
I much prefer the media panel for playing music however, so does anyone know what is causing this or how to fix it?
I've checked power settings and done a couple of soft resets but the problem's the same.
Thanks for any help.

tthat done work.
last week i have done 7hard rest in 3 days to find out whats wrong. i found that every time i try and change the file cache wising xperiatweaks or any other software, media panel stops playing while changing tracks. right now i left file cache to its default value and did not install sdtune up and ma mmedia panel done stop no more.

Yes that works but i don't want to have to alter power settings to listen to music. I've always used the same power settings and I'm sure this never used to happen before, the player used to stop the phone from going into sleep mode.

I think my problem is a bit different, the media panel doesn't stop playing music between tracks it stops mid track when the phone goes into sleep mode.

r u using the old R1A rom??
if yes den yes it does that. if u turn of device it stopes play back while playing from windows media player, coreplayer and the mediaplayer inside tf3d. its a windows thing i think. in that old rom, xperia don go to sleep mode while playing songs from mediapanel even when power saving options in setting-power-advanced tab are on; allowing continiuse playback. but if u put device to sleep then playback stops.
if ur device turns off itself while playing from media panel. do a hardrest and only restore ur contacts. and then istall everything from start. should solve problem.

I'm using the R2A rom. I really don't want to do a hard reset again, only as a last resort.

I managed to solve the problem by uninstalling the media panel and then reinstalling it. Now it doesn't go to sleep mode while playing even with the power options set to sleep after 1 min.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help.

Was same problem, but i unchecked autopoweroff and all become ok.
But i remember that sometimes panel worked and with checked autopoweroff.
This is bug, i think...

Yeah it is a bug, uninstall the media panel and reinstall it. You can find the cab on these forums. That way the media panel will override the auto power off while it's playing music.
It worked for me.

hi guys
suddenly I have the same problem!!
If I listen to music in the media pannel the music stops after every track e.g. I listen to one track and then I need to press the power button to turn the screen on before it starts the second track
what is the better thing to do? uninstall media pannel and re-install or change the power settings?
thx for your help

Same
Yeh, I have this problem it doesn't always happen though, but it has been there since R1A and even now on R2A_10 it still happens. Sometimes a restart stop it happening but it's kinda annoying having to press the power button twice to get it to play again when it stops mid way through a track.
I will reinstll nd fix when I can be bothered but at the moment I am using Media Player with voice command to play my music, just need to get tht sortd properly.

Any news regarding this problem?
Neither uninstalling/reinstalling MediaXperiaPanel
nor uninstalling SD tuneup or setting back the file caching value to default (Auto) helped.

same here
music stop playing when backlight off

i hv the same problem b4...but after i used sktools...under tune up options for system memory and speed...restore the AC resuming suspend timeout and battery resuming suspend timeout back to default which is from 1 to 60...the problem gone...
dun know 4 exact though..found it after experimenting...

wifi/media player turning off when power btn is pressed

Hai
it would seem that if i have windows media player streaming a file over wifi from the intarweb and i press the wpoer button to sleep the device, it kills the wifi conn - any workarounds for this?
also sometimes when im using the htc home plugin music bit and i press the power button it kills the backend media player process :s
is anyone else having these problems - im sure theres a setting somewhere for it im just too noob to find it
edit: in fact it seems to kill the wifi conn when it goes to sleep by itself too
When you press Power button, you are puting the phone in suspend mode. you need to turn off only the screen, than all the proceses will keep runing. I do it with AEButtonPlus, that alow you to assign a button to this option, and much more...
really? that doesnt seem to make sense - i was using the media player last night through the htchome music plugin over my bluetooth stereo headset, pressed the power button to turn off the screen and everything kept running as i had expected it to - i guess it handles bluetooth differently than wifi?
i intend to have this sitting on my desk at work with apps with network connections persistently open, does that mean ive got to disable the auto-suspend feature in order to achieve this? was kinda hoping it would just power off the screen after a while and any other bits it wasnt using (maybe lower efficiency for better power consumption in places ie wifi) - not kill everything dead
it seems to me to be intermittent when it comes to pressing the power button shutting down the media player tho so hmm :S
When you turn off (suspend) your device the WiFi connection is automatically stopped, which is good, considering the power consumption... imagine you would forget it on for 2h...
shayd was right, you can turn off the screen (different from pressing power) with different programs, which would keep your WiFi going. it's like monitor off on pc, and stand-by on PC
when you pressing power button it is not "killing" all the apps that is running, only suspending the proceses of those apps. when you press power button again, it will resume all the proceses of the runnig apps.
I think you're wrong on this one... it tells the programs that system is in stand-by mode, but programs act the way they want... they can still run.
is it only the wifi it kills when it goes into suspend? what about gprs/gsm/etc? surely it doesnt turn off the phone when its suspended
it doesnt seem to stop any running processes if goes into suspend mode - it only seems to intermittently kill the background media player process (when run through the htchome plugin) when i manually press the power button - ie sometimes itll keep playing, other times itll die
the wifi does dies whether it goes into standby manually or automatically though - ill check out that aebuttonplus, cheers
ok, the only thing that matters here is that suspend (manual and auto) kills WiFi
the reason sometimes it plays a little, and then stops is that it has buffered something before WiFi goes down
what you want is a way to turn off the screen, but not go in suspend mode... i'm sure you can find something smaller than AEButtonPlus for that
oh, and be carefull: when shuting down screen, the hardware buttons are NOT LOCKED (i'm 99% sure the touchscreen is disabled, so no problem there)

You right, the programs are still runing. but they are suspending the proceses.
like if you are connected to pc via activesync, when you suspend the phone by P button, you are "killing" the sync proces, but activesync will still run. same with gps apps and so on. of course some poceses (system) can not been stoped.

------------begin spam--------------
If you wanna get into it:
I could be wrong, but i think the system sends a WM_SYSTEM_SUSPEND (or something similar) message to all apps running, so each app does what it wants (some ignore it and run, some stop displaying stuff but still compute, play music and some stop everything, depending on their purpose)
examples:
- app that gets mail ignores the message or stops displaying stuff
- app that plays music keeps playing but no visualization
- app for im still gets messages but no visualization
(those are true assuming programmers that made those apps did a good job for power saving - maybe system stops displaying anyway, even if apps don't)
------------end spam--------------
your "spam" is making sense to me. and maybe there is a way to force some apps to ignore that command (or what ever it is).
i see ye that makes sense - alot like win32 - i really need to read the wm6 sdk
Oh, i just saw that BatteryStatus also has screen off in tray icons, and i find it useful anyway, so maybe give it a try(search forum for latest version)
Phone / MP3 Player in My Pocket
With the availability of 6GB, and soon bigger microSD cards, we can now reasonably use our Tilts as true MP3 players and discard our IPods.
I for one would like a solution, I hope to use my Tilt while Skiing this season. The Tilt will be in my jacket pocket and I will be using a Bluetooth Stereo Headset. However, if we cannot lock the phone while it is in our pocket, then we will be unable to use it in this fashion.
I for one do not have the knowledge to fix this problem, but am hoping one of the bright coders here will find a solution for me and others.
The gps is also turned off when the device is suspended.
I've just started using s2u2. (the newer low mem version of the popular slide to unlock.)
This has the advantage of being assignable to a key, can turn off the screen and lock the device all in one go.
pjam
I've found that you can still have the device in standby and listen to audio if either of the following are true:
- you are using a headset connected to the miniUSB connection
- you are using an A2DP stereo headset and press the button the corresponds to controlling start/stop of the audio after you put the device in standby. In my case, this works fine with my Plantronics 590.
This topic is dead a long time ago, but I found it, and still got confused ...
What drive me crazy is that: my Hermes (8525) still keeps wifi on even when the power is off (I dont use any kind of Tweak, just flash a cooked ROM, I tried w/ 2 different ROM). But my Kaiser doesn't!

Windows Media stopped after power off

When I first got my Tilt, I was able to turn the phone off after I started music playing on Windows Media and continue to listen. However, since a few days ago, the music would stop after I press the power button. I don't know what caused that change. I even tried to restore a backup from last week but that didn't fix it. Anyone out there has this problem?

Don't you have to map a button to turn the screen off?
Not just the dimming screen, I was able to press the power button to put the phone to sleep and continue to listen to music. This way the power consumtion is MUCH lower.

Power button will put the phone in sleep mode. You have to assign a button to toggle the screen on/off. Go into Options and assign a button to do this and it will work. It works for me.

Backlight stays on while playing music

I have Htc diamond. The backlight doesnt go off when playing music. i used registry tweaks and even a software called black me to turn the screen off but it failed. it seems that my phone missunderstands the command of turning off the screen as dimming it.when i press the power button , the light dims while playing music but it turn off the screen while there is no music being played. It might be a registry problem as it working OK previously . Can you help me with that.
did you make hardreset?
I didnt hard reset because there are lot of softwares loaded and I dont want to install them again. So I keep it as the last option. There must be sumthing other that hard reset.

MP3 Stops playing

Hello,
I have a problem with my ppc (with Ather's Diamond WM6.1).
After playing mp3 for a while it sudently stops playing after a random time. Already tryed Pocket Player, MortPlayer, Pocket Music, but it happens with them all. What could it be?
I cannot do a Hard reset because I don't know how. Pressing the Hard-reset buttons resets the PPC with the option of going safe mode, nad it does'nt hard-resets like it use to in WM2003.
Any clue?
Thanx
Hard reset is different to hr under WM2k3! I don't know if it helps with your mp3 problem.
Here is how you have to hardreset your device :
Press Reset Button and hold down Camera Button + Record Button.
Hold them pressed until the "Boot Options" menu appears on the screen.
Attention! Hardreset kills all your personal-data, unless you save it first!(Pim-Backup)
Select the options as follows:
(for selecting use Record Button, change values with Camera Button)
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES
When done, press DPad/Action Button and wait until OS starts.
Thanx for your reply,
You were right, I hard-reseted , instaled Pocket Player on a fresh WM6.1 but after a while it stopped playing, so... Still don't know whats happening.
Any idea?
Ok, now i'm getting pissed off.
Tried Wm6.1 and Wm6.5 and keeps stopping with no aparent reason.
I just don't get it.
Any help??
have you tried playing a diferent file? are you using headphone to listen? or listening from the speaker? try another MP3 File and let me know
Does phone go to standby mode or locks keyboard?
I foun the problem: SD Card
Dont know why but with a 2gb card everything goes smooth, but with a 4gb card the problem comes to live, i even tried partitioning into 2x2gb but no luck.
So I guess I'll stay with the 2 gb and save de 4 gb for my camera.
Thanx for your help

Nexus 6 black screen persistent after multiple restarts

My phone froze last night while listening to music, the music was still playing but the screen was unresponsive. So out of habit I shut down the phone because when I hold the power button the turn off option still happens. I restart my phone and the startup animation shows and after that the screen goes back to black. I have tried a force start using the power and volume button but I'm not completely aware of all of the specific options to do with that. I have a pebble that allows me to control some aspects of my phone over bluetooth and I still get emails and can turn on music with the pebble.

sounds liek a SystemUI crash. if youre stock, you may want to consider factory resetting. if rooted and rommed, I'd reflash your ROM
