I bought a att tilt used with a broken screen. Thing is the lcd screen looks fine as in i can see the hole screen(no broken pixels or anything). But it seems its cracked below the front glass as i cant feel the cracks. So basically I am asking if the only parts to the display are the lcd screen and the touch screen and the front glass? Cause since it doesn't seem the lcd screen is broke no reason to buy both. And wondering if the touch screen and front glass are two different pieces also.
Thanks for any help.
thanks for the help ...............
You only need the touch panel but you will need to solder 4 end of touch on screen. Also, use 4 scrooves method as it is quicker and faster to get to the screen.
the whole screen can be easily replaced for about $60 for a new screen. just need to disassemble the Tilt, there is a guide around here somewhere on how to do it.

First of all, HI to every one, this forum is excellent and u are doing excellent job.
I have one problem, yesturday my htc tytn Ii felt down from half meter and from that time my touch screen is not working . screen is working fine but touch no ...what can i do? to open a case and see if conector is maybe disconected or ? is there need buying new lcd screen?
You can try opening it up and disconnect/reconnect the touch digitizer ribbon cable, if that doesn't work buy a new touch screen digitizer. They're fairly cheap.
so correct me if i'm wrong, there are two parts on the display? lcd screen and that touch screen digitizer??and digitizer is on top?
Yes, there's the LCD screen, then on top the digitizer.
the digitizer costs about 15 bux on ebay, and the lcd with the digitizer costs about 50. my touchscreen stopped responding awhile back, so i had to replace it. word of advice though. the digitizer is kinda build into the lcd, and it is a huge pain (atleast 4 me) to replace it. i ended up cracking my screen doing it, and had to but the whole lcd.
so your suggesting to buy entire lcd screen with digitizer on it?
You can get the lcd+ digitizer from yallstore for 35$ http://www.yallstore.com/htc-tilt-tytn-ii-att-8925-lcd-touch-screen-replacementt56-p-874.html
Which is exactly what i ordered on thursday after my screen cracked.
Replacing JUST the digitizer is quite tricky, i don't know if any of you guys have done it (i have) and it was pretty darn tricky if youve never taken fiddley things apart beware! the digitizer glass is glued on (around the edges) to the LCD, a sharp knife around the edge (the glass WILL crack) and a careful replacedment (i had to solder the ribbon cable on) should help there is a guide somewhere where someone has documented their attempt!
so can i be sure that my problem will be solved with new lcd screen?
please guys i need anwsers fast

Can you be certain this will fix it? No. It's about 99% likely, however. I don't know about you, but I pay alot more than $35/month just for my service. I haven't done the screen on my Kaiser, but I did on my Excalibur, which my son then inherited. To be honest, the Kaiser looks easier from what I've read.
it most probably isn't a software problem, so yes buy a new LCD+digitizer and replace both.
So I dropped my Tilt today and there are several big cracks through the glass front. The phone works fine and I think the LCD screen is alright. I think the cracks are just in the glass part and the LCD is fine but I cant tell. One thing for sure is that the touch response is all messed up and I can't align it. I see digitizers on ebay for cheap. Is that the glass part that is cracked? Can I just get that or do I need a whole screen assembly?
Thanks
I tried to change digitizer but it is a mess you need to weld it to the display and it is not so easy (I'm not an electronic technician), additionally it comes sticked all around the display border so it is hard to clean the display boundary to stick the new digitizer and also it is hard to remove the old digitizer because it is to weak to remove it in one piece. For this reason, at least for my experience, I rather prefer to change the display and digitizer together so you don't have to fight with the removal, welding and sticking the new digitizer. Hope help you take decission.
Hey guys, I have just broken my diamond and I'm looking for a doner to repair mine.. My screen glass is cracked..
My screen works and the colours are not spreading..
My touch works and I can still use the device..
So I'm guessing there is glass between the digitizer and the actual display.
Would is be easier to repair it with parts from a doner phone or...
purchase this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FULL-LCD-Scre...K_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item3363b4604e
And replace the whole screen assembly. That includes the full front as you see in the eBay picture...
You're right. There's a glass between digitizer and display... But they are all glued... it's a difficult work to reassemble everything...
Yeah I thought so...
The reason I posted this was to see if anyone had an old broken bricked diamond I could useas a doner for the whole screen..

I tried the same but resulted in completely disaasebling the LCD. And was of no use later. I had to buy a new one. Better get a new on instead.
Yeah, I most likely will
I just asked here to see if I could get one a little cheaper, but then paying around £20-£25 for a brand new screen etc, which includes the screen, digitizer, glass etc...
What you see in the eBay pic is what I would be removing from a doner phone.
But also if I bought a new one from ebay that would then get rid of any scratches etc.
Although I've always had a protector on it from day one, it was bought second hand so there are some minute scratches
My son dropped my n1 and I heard that nasty sound...
Started as a small crack in top corner with a white strip extending down the side of the screen. Other cracks are visible and the screen got progressively purple around the cracks and is now almost dark. I cannot feel any cracks and the touchscreen works fine.
I don't want to take it apart before ordering the parts since it is still usable. Any way to tell which part is cracked? I've read the digitizer is plastic?
Thanks in advance for any insights.
Mine cracked a while ago, 18 months probably. I've never had any problem with the screen. If touch still works, just ignore it.
The digitizer is the screen and touch electronics built into one part. If you have a crack, you'd need to replace the digitizer (which again, is the screen).
Keep in mind it would take hours to replace. You also run the risk of other things not working correctly once you put everything back together. I've replaced the digitizer in an original Droid. Everything went [relatively] well. But it took several hours, and certain [fancy] stickers were not able to be replaced. Meaning, it looked like it had been disassembled.
You broke the amoled underneath the digitizer I'm sure of it. I know because I did the same thing last year (13 months ago actually) and I could see a small crack in the amoled (digitizer was still intact) the screen went purple then blue the next day then went totally black within a week. Although it might have been a worse crack on mine.
BTW: the digitizer on the nexus one is not plastic it's gorilla glass.
touchscreen works fine? then its probably not the digitizer
the crack itself might be the digitizer rather than the display but the way youre describing it, the ink of the screen is running? well, tough luck..
it might just be better to buy a new phone (or a cheap used n1)

Actually you can crack the digitizer (spiderwebs and all) and it will still work like new the only thing is you will be looking around the cracks to see the picture.
The N1 does not have gorilla glass, but it does have a hardended glass (gorilla is just a brand name for a type of treated glass).
And if you are getting discoloring, it is definitely the AMOLED or SLCD screen (depending on your phone). The digitizer is the actual touchscreen part. It can still function with the cracks, but you can usually feel that they are there. Both are replaceable, although, it isn't the easiest thing to do. I know HTC will replace the AMOLED screen for around $110 and they offer the advanced exchange program with it. I would assume similar prices for the digitizer (although, the definitely isn't your problem, unless both are cracked).
Hi everyone, I just droped my incredible s and the screen broke. Now I planning to buy a lcd screen on ebay and repair it my self but I need to know what to buy. The phone is still fully fonctionnal it's just the screen that's cracked. So my question is do I need to buy the screen digitizer only or the lcd to?
Thanks!
[Edit]
Got the screen digitizer today, and I just finished to put it all together... phone looks like new!! And it wasnt too hard to do

I simply followed that video but I only changed the touch digitizer, not the lcd.
The only issue is the new screen isnt glued well to the phone. I did put some two sided tape but the corners are a bit "loose" like I can push the screen back. So I'll try to find some sealant glue or something like that to glue the screen well in place.
If anyone knows a glue or a sealant let me know

Somewhere i read that sesation lcd should workd, but watch out 4 cheap, fake chrld screen, and propably u must by new gorilla glass ( only 2 fabric in japanese it made ), but i m not a expert.

Cheers
