Any suggestions for a hassle free password storage app that's relatively secure and very reliable?
I have used SPB Wallet
you can find it Here:
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/pocketpc-software/wallet/
I use Hide My Stuff not sure this fit's your needs but worth a looky.
Splash ID works fine in my experience!

I completely agree on keepass. I have been using it for over a year now and it is great.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone I am trying them all.
Those of you using KeepPass, are you using the PC version as well, if so what version can share a datafile with the PPC version, looks like compatibility stops being stated around v1.14 (PC) with the most current PPC version?
Throwing in CodeWallet 2006 as an option. I've used it for the past 4 or some years now and have had all my data easily migrated and synced between 4 computers, one smartphone and one pocketpc.
What it doesn't do well is integrate with Firefox, which is my next quest .. however I have been more than happy with the product.
Did you try PocketPasswords?
www.pocketpasswords.com
I heard they are currently making a new version, which then has a PC app, too. You can then finally manage passwords and so on via PC, like with wallet.

I'm using 1.14 on PC and 0.4.6 on PPC. 1.15 for PC has not been out long so that may be why the PPC version is not yet compatible.
There is not auto sync between PC and PPC you need to copy the data file from one to the other. Not a big problem as my passwords only change once a month.
I'm being using FlexWallet since I migrated from a Dell Axim. No complaints:
http://classic.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=20014
Cross Platform
I use HandySafe.
The beauty of it is that if you move platform (I came from UIQ), just by installing and then copying the data file, you can use the same passkey and all content (well, some text hard return is now 'box' symbol on the note) are there ..
It works on WM, S60 and UIQ. It even comes with Desktop version ..

Anyone had any luck connecting their AT&T Tilt/8925/Kaiser to a Mac using iSync or have a recommendation for any other apps to keep their address book/iCal up to date?
Thanks!

Is iSync not an option for this phone? Is there a free software that does the trick?
free option
Yes there's now def a free option, tho not tested it myself, check: http://www.eltima.com/products/syncmate/
Personally i reckon the missing sync is the dogs wotsits so would say go for that as its well worth the money and they've just got it up to speed with leopard as well!
SyncMate does also work quite well with HTC devices if you configure the MAc and the mobile device accordingly. And it's free!
I love syncmate. Works perfectly. Just set up your device, install the syncmate driver cab on your phone, and bam, you can sync everything.
A much better/slimmer piece of software compared to Missing Sync. Missing Sync seems very bloated and complicated.
Syncmate not so good
I can't sync correclty neither the contacts (no photo, no ringtone) nor the calendar. My HD crashed so I no longer have Missing sync which was working great. Anyone can help for a serial or a crack ? thanx for your help
syncm, ate worked great for me for a while....but ever since they have the PRO upgrade every time i connect it asks me to install the syncmate dfriver, which is already installed!! i can do this 3-4x a week, still no sync.
Also, the sync never worked that well w/ ical...
I've got to add my vote for The Missing Sync, http://www.markspace.com/

I installed Syncmate on my MACbook and connected my ppc to MACBook with a USB cable but my PPC cannot connect with my MACBook, no message prompt and nothing happen to both devices. Should I install something on the ppc as well? Many thanks
Can anyone recommend a secure password manager for my kaiser that will;
1) sync via Windows Mobile Device center to a desktop companion, and
2) work with Vista.
I have for years used SplashID however it does not play well with this combo. I am finding having to manually initiate syncs with the RAPI Sync version to be a pain.
E-wallet. Has it's own sync, but uses the activesync connection to update the Kaiser. You can set up the E-wallet desktop companion to sync whenever you connect.
Handango.com
SPB Wallet is also a nice one!
I've tested many of those wallet applications and I like eWallet by Iliumsoft most. Specially the future development on this wallet seems to be the most professional. You can try it out: www.iliumsoft.com

Thanks Fella's. That will give me a few to try out.
Secret!
Secret! works very well! Secret! Desktop 5.1 works well on Windows Vista now (testet with Device Center 6.1)
see http://www.linkesoft.com/secret/
Does splashid not work then? I too have used it for years, on an iPAQ PDA. Have just got a TyTN II and was going to transfer it onto it. However, I have not used my iPAQ for a year or so now (been using a Nokia N73), and have also upgraded to vista in that time. My version of splashid is probably well out of date too.
I use AI RoboForm. Works good for me.

Secret by linke soft
all these password managers have one flaw imho: they focus more on form than on function. all these icons and stuff... at least i do not need that.
http://www.linkesoft.com/
offers a very "non shiny" yet very functional password manager with nice "small" yet helpful features:
data entering in txt-style, desk top application available (no icons and stuff)
automatic copy and paste
TAN or OTP management (at least interesting for german online banking)
collapsing paragraphs for better overview
read-only-mode for preventing accidental overwriting
easy backup: all in one file
i think, that is all you need to have!
Hi all,
Just upgraded from my O2 XDA IIi to the XDA Stellar. On my XDA IIi, I would perform a corporate install which would not install the O2 rubbish and make the device run faster. I'm not sure how I do this on the stellar.
Also, I'm looking for suggestions from gurus out here on how to ideally setup the phone so I can set it up and do a sprite backup (this used to work fine on my IIi). Any tweaks to make my stellar run faster?
I plan to install the software list as listed below, please give me your suggestions
Ilium Software eWallet v5
Ilium Software List Pro v5
SPB Pocket Plus v4.0.2
Pocket Breeze
Pocket Informant
TomTom Navigator v7
Lexisgoo Dictionary
Omega One Journal Bar (Recent reviews seem to be bad for this)
Pocket Controller v6
Opera browser
SPB GPRS Monitor
Sprite Backup (Or should I try SPB backup?)
Phone Dashboard
Resco File Explorer
Skype
SPB Mobile Shell
Pocket Mirror (Not sure if this adds any value over Active Sync)
Perhaps install some simple games like minesweeper etc.
I find it very difficult to use the case that comes supplied with the stellar, so I've decided to go in for the Crystal Case (http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/16042.htm). Any one has any experience with this case? I need all round protection for my phone, my one year old has a great fascination for phones. And try as I might her sneaky fingers do get to it sometimes and my XDA IIi has ended up on he floor (which has given it a crack or two ). Is it possible to attach this case to the belt with a belt clip?
Also plan to get the Sandisc 8GB SDHC card which should give me plenty of storage for my videos, music and TomTom European maps.
Any other accessories I should be looking at?
Sorry for the long post, just some useful tips from gurus here to get me started on setting up my stellar I love it so far
Forgot, I also plan to install Blackberry Connect (not sure if this already comes installed by default) so I can receive work emails. Has anyone tried this?
Anyone Any help will be greatly appreciated
From the O2 XDA Stella site
#
Before using the software, you must have subscribed to a BlackBerry tariff and your SIM must have been enabled for this service. If you are unsure, please contact O2 via the customer service number on your bill.
# 1. Make sure the Xda Stellar is connected to Activesync
# 2. Once Activesync has connected, click on the Explore button on your PC to open the Xda Stellar storage area
# 3. Insert the Applications CD into your PC
# 4. Locate the file BBConnect_WM6_Professional_BB_4[1].0.0.91.cab
# 5. Copy this file to the Xda Stellar storage area
# 6. Disconnect the Xda Stellar from your PC
# 7. On the Xda Stellar, tap Start > Programs > File explorer. This should take you straight into My documents. If not, please select this from My Device
# 8. Locate BBConnect_WM6_Professional_BB_4[1].0.0.91.cab and tap once to install
# 9. The file will now start to install. On successful installation, select OK
#
To use the BlackBerry client, tap Start > Settings > System > BlackBerry, and follow the on-screen instructions.

You can get the Blackberry Connect 4 update here: http://www.my-xda.com/software_updates.jsp (but it's just as easy to get it here: http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=276 )
I'd recalled seeing various posts with people struggling with BB4 with WM6.1 so check out this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371652 if your having problems.
Personally I gave up trying to protect my Kaiser and thankfully it has survived the many drops I've punished it with. Although the screen looks grubby, it always cleans up. It can be rather large for the pocket though in some trousers.
I personally prefer the NetFront Browser 3.5 to Opera ( which you can get here: http://www.access-company.com/products/mobile_solutions/netfrontmobile/browser/35_wm_tp.html ). I just find it more ergonomic than Opera. I'm a bit gutted that the trial ends on Aug 31st though.
I've never used Sprite backup, but you might want to check out the freely available PIMbackup 2.8 and Sashimi 7.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=392983 which may suit your needs.
I would suggest installing the KaiserTweak and Schapp's Advanced Config ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070 ) programs to give yourself complete control over your device.
Regards,
Rob
Thanks Rob, really helpful. I've never heard of the blackberry tariff, is this different from the normal tariffs that O2 offers?
I'll have a look at the other software you mentioned and give them a try
I've put a screen protector on my phone, so hopefully the screen should stay free of scratches. It is the sides of the phone I'm concerned about since from experience with my XDA IIi, it seems to fall on the side and the case has cracked in a couple of places (still works fine though) and it breaks my heart to think it could happen to a shiny new phone
Thanks again, really good stuff

It may be something to do with users that want blackberry style facilities through O2 rather than their own corporate server so you can safely ignore that comment?
However....I have seen Vodafone with different tariff's for Windows mobile phones and blackberry before.
Your welcome by the way.

Yes I just visited their site and found out that the free trial ends on 31st of August, they don't seem to have a license I could purchase and make use of.

Out of interest, how do you carry your phone? Do you use the supplied case or just carry it in your trousers? Working in IT I mostly dress up in jeans and the stellar is definitely too bulky for them Still waiting for the protective hard cover case to arrive, not sure if I've got butter fingers or I've been too finnicky about not dropping it, but I've already managed to drop it twice, luckily on carpets so far

I spoke to my systems department and they reckon that I might need to enable blackberry services on my SIM and they don't think that is available for personal users. Might need to have a chat with O2 and see if they can offer that to me
Thanks for all the help
if you have a blackbery then anyone on a contract can get the blackbery bolton, its £7.50 per month extra and provides you with unlimited usage(fair use).
the only thing is it needs to be used on a blackberry not a xda or any other phone for that matter due to the fact that blackberrys go through a different portal to get to the net or emails.
for the xda or any other type of handset exc blackberry its best to put on the unlimited web bolton for £7.50 per month this gives you unlimited web(200mb i think) only on the handset not to be used as a modem for laptop etc.the connect software will just connect through the mobileweb apn.
when a blackberry connects it goes through blackberys own apn, when you click home on a blackberry it takes you to the blackberry wap site i think.
Gotta love it. Hulu on my Fuze, I don't think I'll ever get anything done. , it doesn't seem like the actual page resolution that skyfire downloads has changed though which sucks. but the menus etc. now completely function in both landscape and portrait.
Cheers,
Migsims
** EDIT ** Some people running the stock rom seem to be having issues installing this. I currently have - PROven ROM 1.03 20757 HD build - flashed on my Fuze and Skyfire is working great installed on my storage card. I'm not sure what the issue is.
http://get.skyfire.com
Version 0.85 of the Skyfire mobile browser is now available.
To get the latest version of Skyfire, point your phone's standard browser to http://get.skyfire.com and download the newest client. The site will detect the device and provide the appropriate installer.
Please note: if you are a current Symbian user you must uninstall the existing client on your phone first.
Release notes follow.
Skyfire 0.8.5 Release Notes
Released: November 21, 2008
Skyfire brings the PC internet experience to your mobile. Watch videos on YouTube or Hulu, connect with your friends on Myspace or Facebook, shop on Amazon, or listen to music. If you can experience it on your computer, you now can do it with Skyfire on the go.
Skyfire is fast, easy to use and available for free for many smart phone models.
Skyfire 0.8.5 Beta adds (standard) VGA support for Windows Mobile devices and brings the feature set for our Symbian client in line with Windows Mobile. Skyfire will continue to maintain both platforms in future releases.
We greatly appreciate your participation in our beta community. Your support and feedback on the forums at http://support.skyfire.com/forums/ helps us to constantly improve the product.
What’s new in 0.8.5 for both Windows Mobile and Symbian:
* Simple Download: This is big for us and we hope for you as well. Now, there is NO requirement anymore to register in order to download, access, and use Skyfire. With this release, downloading is as simple as pointing your existing mobile browser to http://get.skyfire.com. We detect the device and provide the installer for your phone.
* Optional Registration: Once downloaded and installed, you can use Skyfire right away. Browse away, create bookmarks, and check your history. Everything will work.
Why create an account? So you can retain Bookmarks and History in case you lose your phone or have to switch phones. Furthermore you can post and participate in the Skyfire user forums.
Already have an account? You can still access your existing account by simply logging in on your device. Or, create a new account. Or, migrate your account between phones. It’s now all done from your phone on the Skyfire start page.
* New UK Data Center: We are looking forward to providing better service for our UK based users and are currently building out a new data center. If you are in the UK you should automatically connect to the new data center and experience better performance. If you are not based in UK, then you will automatically connect to the US data center. Please bear with us as we work out some of the kinks – especially with account migration.
* Overall Improvements: Client and Server robustness, streaming performance, recovering from lost connections.
* Improved rendering of mobile pages: We better detect and render more mobile pages. The list continues to expand.
* Updated Skyfire User Portal: We continue to evolve our user portal and start page. Although some of it was already visible before 0.8.5, it is worth mentioning:
o Google Search & Search Results: It’s the best and the most used.
o Updated weather widget: Now supports Canada and UK postal codes, in addition to US.
o Region specific start page: Custom feeds and pre-populated bookmarks for US and UK.
What’s new in Windows Mobile 0.8.5 since Windows Mobile 0.8?
* Standard VGA support: We are excited to now provide VGA support for the number of new devices that recently entered the market, including the HTC Touch Diamond, Diamond Pro, HTC/ATT Fuze. Please note that we support Standard VGA support (e.g. 640x480). Widescreen WVGA (e.g. 800x480 etc) is NOT supported yet.

Didn't work for me ...
I dowloaded the cab from the 'get' link and when I tried to install it I got an error stating that "...The installation file is not intended for this device."
I used Skyfire on Tilt all the time so I was hoping it wouldn't be a problem on the Fuze. Must be doing something wrong ... ?

It's working fine on my Fuze, dunno what's up there. What version did you download?
It worked for me too. When I went to that website it said my device was a TouchDual, but it still worked and landscape works fine with our keyboard too.
I too got the same error. The link automatically sets version 7.9x. Maybe they will get it worked out. Also the user control has been moved to the mobile browser. And since some of use have moved on to the fuze we can't access the control panel to say change device.

The link defaulted to "Skyfire_7927-PPC50". There was no option to choose anything else. I not only tried the link from my phone but also got the same file when using the laptop.
I'll keep watching to see what might be the problem.

i'd recommend just downloading the cab and copying it to your device if you're having problems

Did that and got same results, meaning "Unsuccessful" message.
*EDIT: Worked this time. Must have been me on the transfer from laptop. Got it working now, so thank you for the recommendation to try again.
copy it to my device, installed and had to soft reset to get it working. But it works very well. Now I have 3 browsers to choose from What is the down side to SkyFire?? Seems to do everything.
On the ATT Fuze I went to the site, it said I have an HTC phone so I click to download it didn't work. But if I selected This is not my phone, then went to WinMo 5 or 6 Touch it worked flawlessly :-D
i did the above and it worked, problem is the browser looks blurry... like a scaled up version of the qvga version... when it loads a page and th site takes up the screen you cant read any of te small text... opera is nice and crisp and clear...
ill try the other installation way when i get to my home computer to see what works there. I looked around in the settings but nothing is there as far as adjusting resolution or anything.

i think all they did was make the menus and stuff vga for now and hopefully soon they will actually make the whole thing fully vga
hmm, that could be it... the address bar and stuff are all crisp and vga-ish...
can some more people who have this running give more feedback on this...
oh, and is there tabbed browsing on this browser at all? I cant seem to find it. for a browser that claims to do EVERYTHING, thats the one thing I am really looking for!

Its is def not as sharp as the Opera browser. I also noticed its alot slower now then in the locked betas :-( I guess because the server load is growing but I used to watch streaming video all the time.
yeah the problem is that any flash is streamed and compressed on their servers ala opera mobile.
It would be really nice if adobe finally got off their ass and made an updated full plugin on not this flash lite crap.
Well if definitely does not look as nice as Opera....and is there a way to make this work with TouchFlo3D?
Yeah, I had to download it, transfer it to my storage card then install it without issues.
I still get the half screen issues that I had with previous versions.
I have serched high and low. I was wondering if there was anyway to get Microsoft Access onto my Fuze. I have a biz that runs on Access, it would be helpful if i could have it with me at all times instead of having to carry a laptop everywhere i go.
I don't think such a program exists. I'm assuming that your Access stuff is a full application with forms, etc? You can probably use something like this --> http://www.handster.com/programs.php?id=2906&for=Pocket PC mdb to update the tables, but I can't see it running reports, etc.
If you have a decent data plan, then one option is to run Remote Desktop to a PC back at base running the Access Application. I've got a Virtual Machine on my server which I can access from my Touch Pro. I can run any app I want on there, and as long as I don't try to do anything stupid (like play a video), then it works fine. This is the only way I could see your Access application working on your TP.
Cheers,
Steve.

I believe the client is built into the Fuze. If you have a custom ROM, just do a search. Several threads have the cab to install it on the Fuze. It has also been built into Windows since at least XP. You have to be a local admin or in the remote users group to Remote Desktop or RDP to your desktop.
