i am new to the xda mobiles but recently bought a second hand XDA IIS which by default has Win 2003 Mobile...
I have come across a number of WM5 Mobile packages but am unsure about which is the correct one to use to upgrade my unit....
Also some Microsoft forums say that hardware devices running WM2003 cannot be upgraded to WM5 but this site seems to point towards that it is possible....
Can anyone point me at the correct WM5/Boot version packages etc and also explain how the upgrade does work on this hardware when Microsoft forums say otherwise??? Is it a case of hit and miss when upgrading (i read that a dodgy upgrade could make the hardware inoperable
SO The main question is, is it possible to destroy the Hardware if the upgrade fails...ie you would not be able to recover the device from a failed upgrade
well i almost killed my IIs for a couple fo time, but that's about it.
plz read http://wiki.xda-developers.com/.
if u still have question, pls post here again.
btw, the latest rls by Helmi_c is very cool, so u may wanna check it out after u have read wiki.

You can see what ROM I use in my signature and I find it pretty good considering the 50+ apps I have on it. The odd problem but with all the software I have got on it that is to be expected but it is amazing to be running WM5 on a device which officially can only run WM2003SE.
I found that using Tu-Ma v1.3 the device was very slow and buggy but now with Hemli's ROM it runs great.
Hi All,
A new person on here and to HTC. I opted for the TYTN II and have found it fantastic (except for those bright days when I cant see the screen outside) However, I rather foolishly rushed into upgrading the OS to WM6.1 when O2 released it. Now my Home Plugin freezes the device and I need to Hard Reset it. Anyone found a way around this or am I the only one....
Using HTC TYTN II, CE OS 5.2.19212 (Build 19212.1.0.3)
Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.
If all else fails does anyone know how to reset back to the original WM6 as I have read that even if I can go back, the "bugs" I now have will still be there.
Thanks in advance
I think there are several home plugin versions, which one are you using?
Why not upgrade to a Cooked ROM?
Check out this Wiki pages for the Kaiser, there are some ROM Flashing FAQ's and guides. And all other useful posts are in the "Getting Started" in my Sig.
In case you feel like asking "which one?", just try one and see what you think if you don't like it, try another until you find one you like, or you can just go back to the Stock O2 ROM if you really arn't happy, but I bet you will be.
As a freebie I'd say try Hang Tuah's ROMeOS 4.1

Do you often charge for this sort of information, and how much is the going rate?
Hi
Thanks for that, I thought I was using the HTC Home Plugin 2.1 not too sure if it was the N2A fix tho..
I have tried other "Home" but really like this one as its sleeky and goes so well with the TYTN II with good sized icons.
Do you have any ideas why this one wont work or if there are any others around with a good "TouchFlo" feel to them.
Thanks too about the ROM flash info - very exciting - would love to try it but as I only have the one Xda I dont want to destroy it just yet ( I do have a rather cavalier approach to tinkering and it tends to get expensive)
Thanks All.

i have a slight problem that could be a nice challenge for you! my usb port just got thrashed on my HTC 8125 (Wizard) and because of that, i can't do a rom update using a cable... does anyone have any ideea on how i could update my rom using a microSD card? has anyone done that? is that even possible?
p.s. i am currently running a custom WM 6.5...
Thanks in advance people!
Hope it's a pretty nice challenge for you guys!!

Send it to Dat-A-Syst in Charlotte, NC. They have fixed all sorts of hardware issues.
I recently acquired an HTC Wing and I've been playing around with it as it is my first smartphone. I noticed the setup and features of Windows Mobile 6.1 were a more appealing than the 6.0 I currently have installed. I was wondering if there was a clean legit way to upgrade to that version and how to take care of it. I can't seem to find an answer to this anywhere.
Thanks for your time.
