I know what I'm about to ask is a little ridiculous, I'm going crazy lately I don't know which rom to use anymore after a couple days of using, usually the second day I have a problem with texting. It goes so slow and the MDA can't type a text at the same speed I am typing. I gotta wait till it finishes typing to actually press send and this is a problem when I am driving to keep checking if it finished. Anyway I was on the throne today and as I am sitting there I start to think hey that Sidekick is pretty stable no one complains about it having problems ever. So I was thinking damn I should get one of those, wait I'm broke, then I was like hmmm what about a rom that is just like it or is the Sidekick rom but for the MDA. Is this possible because this slowness **** is ridiculous the phone is so slow. I tried that over clocking stuff with Battery Status but that works for a couple hours and it goes back to the same **** again. Please help.
Interesting thought but I doubt it. It's not a windows mobile based Rom so I would be willing to bet that the hardware of the MDA would not be able to support it.

This may be considered sacrilege by some around here, but have you considered going back to a custom and clean WM5 rom instead of all the WM6 roms here? AKU 3.3 (Faria's and Molski's) were very snappy and didn't have some of the lag you see in WM6. Also there are some new and very nice WM5 roms out now. Check out the Wizard Upgrading forum for links and all. (BTW: I'm NOT saying to go back to an official WM5 as those are slower than the WM6 ones here in most cases).

well you can take off auto completetion and suggestion, and when you open a new text.. wait about 3-5 seconds to have it finish loading up before you start typing.
I got tired of wm devices I did infact switch to a sidekick 3. I can't be on aim for 10 mins without my device frezzing now I know why HTC has a quick reset button on the mda.
I'd love a linux rom it may be stable...hopefully.

The SK's OS is primarily java ...Its built to run the base applications and a few less processor intense catalog appz . I think your main issue is how many 3rd party applications that you have running on your device peakin your proc.

Texting is like IM. You respond when you can. So many kids (my daughter for one) are SLAVES to their phones... (and so many adults I work with are slaves to IM). If the phone makes a noise they have to drop everything and look at it. Sorry, but thats not how it should work. If you have to have that important of a conversation then get a BT headset and you TALK to the person while you are driving. Or use Palringo and do Voice IM. Texting and driving is flat out STUPID (I don't care how good of a driver or texter you think you are. You are now distracted and can kill someone or even yourself).
Sorry, but doing ANYTHING other than being focused on driving is a really bad idea. If you have to text, then pull over.
And if your girlfriend knows you are driving and she continues to text you, she must not think much about you and your safety... I won't even CALL my wife (who refuses to use a BT headset) on her phone if I know she is driving (and if I do, I hang up and tell her to call me when she stops).
Course, maybe its good for stuff like this to thin out the gene pool....

Hell yeah, props to you!!!
There was actually a text-driving related accident here in Fresno County. 2 folks in the first car were critically injured, 3 in the second car died (one was an infant, the other a 4 year old, and the mom). The 2 critically injured ones were driver/passenger both 20-something, and crazy enough BOTH texting different people. So the driver had her head up her ass, as did her boyfriend who was doing a crappy "co-pilot" job by also texting. Meanwhile an 11 year old and a dad are all that is left from a family of 5.
To quote my son's friend...
Driving and texting is whack!
My exgirlfriend was texting and driving and she wrecked her car going 80 miles an hour down a freeway. She survived somehow.
lolol u crazy bastards I text at the red lights. The only texting i actually do while driving is press send after it caught up to what I was writing during the red light. I live in new york every block has a red light.
so you admit you actually look at it while driving and press at least one button..
all of that in the most crowded place on earth prolly

Which is the best Twitter App for Android ?
Cuz i've been using Twidroid but it replys like From Twidroid, not in a reply to someone .
So which one is the best ? i want one that replys the tweet from a user .
twidroid ( the best we got as of now...)
i like twidget the best
IMO iTweet is the best then twidroid after that.
I get all my updates and has all the features you need in a tweeter app.
but if you dont want to buy one I would go with twidroid.

+1
iTweet
Hands down the best, at the moment.
I wish we had a reliable widget. I've tried Twidget numberous times, but it failed to update properly. Maybe they've got it fixed by now. If so, Twidget was showing lots of promise.
Twit2Go FTW
I discovered Twit2Go when I was looking for a Twitter app, and really really like it. It's very lightweight (compared to things like Twitteride and Twidroid), and a nice Android UI (unlike ITweet, for example), and has all the usual goodies (TinyURL support, reply/DM notifications, etc.).
Strongly recommend giving it a try.
HTC Peep Lol or Itweet if you want to pay. Twidroid = best free twitter app no doubt.
I like Twitterride because it's the only one I could find that would distinguish new tweets from old.
I prefer Twidroid myself.
itweet is the best one
i tried iTweet and i like it im gonna keep using the 3 for a few days and decide, thx guys cuz i didnt know this iTweet app .
Twidroid is nice, but sometimes it shows tweets from months ago. No idea why.
ITweet FTW!!!
should have made this a poll....
If i could get peep i would on a non Hero, however i use TwitterRide , use to use Twidroid however never would update on its own i woudl have to click refresh. TwitterRide is getting like this now, wish i could find one that would update every 5-10 mins on its own. . . . . . .
Twidroid.
Best twitter client hands down.
I gotta give my vote to Twidroid. Amazing app. I used Twidget for a while, because it's one of the few that actually constantly update (it runs in the background, like Twidroid has the option to) and is nice and lite. Twidroid then picks up everything else as a fully-functional Twitter client. I like it better than the Twitter homepage itself!

That's basically how I see them too.. Twidget is an awesome lightweight client for keeping up. I also do most updates from it. I have Twidroid installed but not configured for background checking so I can use it when needed for photo posting, DMs, etc. Both excellent apps, just different strengths.

Launcher Pro is a good launcher, ADW Ex is popular as well. You just need to browse around and find the best replacement launcher for you.
Define "better keyboard". What makes a keyboard better to you? I like Swype. I've also heard good things about SwiftKey is good as well - but the cost is $2.
I don't think spb is a great launcher anyway. It has nice looking features but they don't work too good. The weather looks nice but is always way off. It uses old forecasts to tell current weather. And it doesn't seem to know Washington dc exists.

I tried Spd Mobile shell and noticed alot of battery drain guessing from all the widgets it's packed with. It was cool visually but wasn't for me.. i'll stick with my launcher pro but for something free Regina is pretty cool too it has that itunes cover flow feel.
I used a previous version of SPB Mobile Shell on Windows Mobile 6.1, it was a great app for the limited UI in Windows Mobile. It is certainly not a must have for Android, with so many good / great launchers including good old Sense, Launcher Pro, ADW and GO Launcher (among others). I have used all of these and the differences you have to try. A cute UI that I tried recently was Spark .. free but not for me, cool views though.
*SIGH*
Anyone here actually USE SPB Shell 3D? No, there's not a free version and no it's not cheap. But it DOES take 4x4 widgets to a whole new level. It takes a while to boot up when my phone starts up but once its up it's been running fine. With the new BAMF GB lockscreen and SPB Shell my phone is just SICK! I've tried to go back, but I've gotten used to its deliciousness (and it DOES wow everyone I've showed it to) and with each upgrade it gets better.
There's a reason that OVER 9000! people have given it good ratings on the Market....

Yup I think I'd give it a good rating too if I were foolish enough to spend $15.00 on a home replacement that slows the phone down and doesn't really do anything special that can't be had cheaper elsewhere. You know, just to make myself feel better.
(edit)Yes I have tried it before you ask.
There's always a free version of everything, if you're willing to look for two minutes.
That being said, I didn't find it useful enough to buy, especially for 15 dollars. Rather donate it to the BAMF guys. Battery drain, and the novelty wore off quick.
Favorite keyboards:
Swiftkey
FlexT9 (swype, but better)
If you don't want to buy a keyboard, the gingerbread keyboard is pretty darn good.
Thanks for such insight!

So you spent 15 dollars and yet didn't succumb to the "feel better"? Wow, the force is strong within you!
Because I haven't complained about SPB in a review and followed up with another review saying it wasn't ready for prime time (at the time). You're so right. Gosh, you must be like Miss Chleo or something.
No added functionality? I guess it depends on the user. I've found:
1. The carousel isn't like anything out there. The free alternative doesn't have the same functionality/ease of use. I find it especially handy for easy access to widget screens that are 8 screens back. I don't have to cycle through them.
2. Beautiful 4x4 custom widgets. I've not had the problems with the weather widget. It's especially handy when looking for the 5 day outlook quickly. And the calendar widget is fantastic too. It's pretty and functional.
3. Ability to add screens on the fly (up to 16)
SPB Shell lags on boot/first use, but I've had no slowing of my phone in daily use after boot. The problems I experienced before were problems that have been fixed since my second follow up review.
And have I mentioned it's absolutely beautiful?
But you're right and those 9000 fools (and Google, who showed off SPB Shell in their booth last year at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona) are just sore. Couldn't be the oohs and ahhhs I got from people looking at my phone. It couldn't be both the increased functionality and aesthetic beauty of the custom widgets. It's all because they're upset they spent so much on it. Thanks on your comment. It's changed my life and I am now in perfect agreement with you.

I've had absolutely zero battery improvement when I've used Launcherpro or stock over SPB. But you can't upgrade apkwarez, can you?
Everything is relative. I like things that are functional and pretty. SPB is both. And just a quick note, donating to the BAMF guys isn't against the rules if you buy SPB...you can do both.
I think SPB is neck and neck with Sense. They're both great looking, fast, and functional. If my phone didn't have sense I would use SPB all the time.
As for keyboards, I was able to get FlexT9 when it was free from Amazon and its awesome.
I bought SPB and I have mixed feelings about it. Yes it's great and it's fast... when it's loaded. I don't use a task killer but it seems that often when I unlock my phone, it needs to reload part of the launcher and that adds a delay that I don't like.
I'm also not impressed at the development. They did add one new 3D widget for birthdays but it never works well for me, it's always missing some people and the people I see change every time I reboot.
It has a lot of potential, I just hope that the devs won't take the money they have now and leave the launcher stagnant.
I have been running SPB Shell 3D for several days, I have no lag, no battery drain (not any worse than running on just Sense, and better than GB rom) I have it fully configured with my own weather app etc. I really find this app to be pretty cool, it works and I have not had crashes or anything else yet with it.

Don't take it so personal, I happen to think that spending 15 on spb is foolish, my opinion should really not have garnered such a response from you, you didn't develop the program right. But you are a hell of a defender I'll give you that.
To clarify, I'm sure this was the best thing since sliced bread on winmo but as was stated above there are many many options for launchers on android. I have spent >$15.00 on the different launchers out there, does that make me a fool, probably because I was happy with the first one I purchased. But you know I don't feel too bad in this case because I think the people who got my money deserve it. Anyways I'm done, sorry if I upset you.
I might be mistaken but i remember reading there was a free alternative to SPB Shell that had many similar features. Can't remember the name, though.

Thanks for the intro trying it now.
Though I have never used, Enhance Email sound good, almost stock taste but enriched function.
To save battery, just stop unnecessary sync, disable data when you dont need it, disable auto services, which you don't using it
Here sort of things I am using
-Time N clock (stop auto update, once did it, thats enough)
-In setting - privacy - stop backup data to google server
-Use autostart or any similiar to to stop auto running application, like buddies, email, hub N many more in my list, Thogh thiese applications are loads N remains in background, consuming very little RAM N battery, but still it is useless
-Manage data connection, I do manage with phoneweaver. you can schedule (OR trigger with location), it switch on according to my place, when I am out off office/Home it switch off wifi. as well switch off data connection just few minute later to my sleeping time, N switch on just before time to wake up.(this saves a lot battery, just 2-3 % in 7hrs of my sleeping time)
Though all these varies individually, but try to manage best way according your usage.

If you get annoyed with stock based email programs (99%) it's worth trying Maildroid, they have a free version you can play with before purchase. Feature rich, highly customisable, I'm very happy with it. Also means you can freeze the stock apps that swallow battery, which makes it very efficient power wise. It's also got support for ICS.

To be.honest, I'm still on free version, saw no need to upgrade and purchase.

very best tip to improve battery life is to buy an extended battery.
This can double or almost double your battery life. Some are really cheap too, like the hyperion. But bulk and extra weight are disadvantages.
Thank you all...
By no mean I am disappointed at the battery life of the note. Usually, it can last a full day of usage with some juice left. Since I like this device so much and often find myself using it even when its not necessary, battery drains quickly
Not much a fan of an attached extended battery. For some reason the appearance reminds me my first cellphone, Moto "Micro" Tac Elite. lol

I agree. I carry an extra stock battery (bought 2) in my wallet, and just use the Note as and when I want to. I rarely run out, but if I do, I pop in a new battery and carry on.
I also use it when not necessary, just because it is so nice . I have a cheap tablet to ease the Note use, but am giving that away as soon as I can get the Note 10.1" or Tab 11.3" tablet. Since I do this for a living, it's all tax-deductible!

carrying an extra battery is a ridiculous concession to have to make. the stock samsung email app is excellent , except for the freaking nazi like security policy that comes along with it (much enter in a character, a letter and an number, on ever login , and no screen timeout optionality)
enhanced email is fantastic except it tears through battery life, which i suspect there are hacks to fix but i do not know what they are and i cant seem to find any...please help if you know this answer).
touchdown is good and better on battery life but i cant get it to sync with my g-notes calendar app, so i refuse to use two separate calendars.
sigh...

Just google it and you'll find the answer
It seems Microsoft has told Whatsapp to disable the app from running all the time. The app uses too much energy which drains all the battery. So Whatsapp announced they will make a new version of the app available within 3 weeks. The bad thing though, there's a big chance whatsapp won't give real time push notification's after this update but will be refreshed on time bases. Which could mean you'll get messages 5 minutes late or anything like that. I'm not sure how the iOS version of whatsapp works? Does that one run all the time ass well, for push notifications I mean?
Let's just hope Real Time Push Notification's won't go away, because it would be a terrible cost. I'm glad Whatsapp improved speed on WP7 though. Whatsapp on my Lumia 920 works incredibly fast compared with the old version of whatsapp on 7.5. And this means it will go faster when the update is available.

Just google it and you'll find the answer
It seems Microsoft has told Whatsapp to disable the app from running all the time. The app uses too much energy which drains all the battery. just got answer from WhatsApp Support saying that it does not work well in WP8 and they do not know if and when it would return to the market. it seems this app is doomed for now. will have to find alternate app or move to IOS or Android
Hey Guys I've got this as an answer when I tried to ask them what was going on:
Hi,
Thanks for your message. Sorry, WhatsApp is not fully supported on Windows Phone 8 and we cannot comment on future timelines.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. We would be happy to help!
I'm not quite familiar with the exact figure's of how much use is made of whatsapp amongst the competition (Android and IOS) But I think you could reason not having a decent operating Whatsapp would damage WP's position on the market seriously. Whatsapp is immensely popular in the region I live in. So why would Microsoft try to limit or block such a program?
Anyhow I got my Android 4.1 update on my htc one X on December 5th, which is a holiday over here in the Netherlands would be a good thing to have Whatsapp on WP8 before Christmas Eve. My Htc X8 is currently not more than just a palmtop which I can use as a phone...
Cheers Buck
