Ompass world city lite is now in the Samsung application store.
Initially I was excited about this but this is a lite version and does not use gps to determine your location so is pretty much a pretty demo with no real use.
I am hoping they don't over price the proper working version when they release it as I was really looking forward to this.
I wasn't expecting this to be out in this manner when Samsung awarded them prizes to release this for free and the version they have released for free is pretty much useless :-S
Was this program ever released in full?
I can't find much info on it. It doesn't even seem possible to buy it.
I'm thinking of buying P9+.
I've been looking xda and I'm wondering, why aren't there custom ROM's for this phone?
Is it not interesting to developers? It's not so new, that can't be it. Is it so good no-one want's to tweak it?
It can be rooted. Is it fairly easy? Root helps
But I really like trying different ROMs and "make it mine"
it's so good out of the box!
After years with Sammy devices, those i flash directly out of box, hardly start them stock ever.
But with P9+ i don't need that, this **** fit me perfectly!
That is not an xda answer...

You know how it is... The more attention a phone gets, the more it attracts new developers and that equals new roms and stuff
Also the fact is that it is rather difficult for developers to actually make new roms for phones that haven't released a "working" source code slash libs for it.
Masze has right though, it works really well with it's EMUI4.1(1), smooth as Google vanilla firmware. Not much bloat at all. And it has a very good theme engine, there is already themes here which used together with Nova launcher Beta looks/behaves very close to stock Android. The phone is very speedy and with a great screen(S-AMOLED), only thing really sucking is the unpossibility to use Googles latest security patches. I use leaked firmware for my region(B181) so at least I have the September patch, but I would really like to have the latest patches shortly after they arrive. That's the biggest con of Huawei.

Flash it manually?
I'm on B190, Oct 1 patch.
Although supposedly that was only a partial patch, with Google release a full one on Oct 5 fixing more critical bugs.
Would be nice if OEMs (not just Huawei) at least released security updates soon after release.

Yes I also agree with u. The phone is just amazing. I don't need any custom rom for it as the original functions are so good and so practical.
I saw many people mentioned about security patch but not quite sure what is it and how would it affect our phone? Is it easier to be hacked or ? Anything if we don't update the security patch?
Yes, Google releases security patches monthly mostly because they have been forced to do so by EU and US authorities. The reason is that Android is constantly under heavy attack from hackers and there is several new exploits each month. The most severe is those which takes over your phone just by connecting to a website. Anyway, Google monthly releases patches for those new exploits, the problem is Android is severely fragmented so the only really updated phones are Goggle vanilla Android on Nexus/Pixel or AOSP. Huawei is not the worst offender on being slow, but certainly not the quickest. And there is no known active developer of AOSP for P9 Plus.

I would say that Huawei is one of the slowest manufacturer to bring security updates.
Samsung is nowadays one of the fastest.
One bad example is P9 Plus. Huawei flagship (before Mate 9) and still the latest security update is from June and we are already on December.
That's six month after Google releases.
Pay 700$ for a phone and have no support from manufacturer afterwards. Welcome to Huawei customer...

They do have reasonably quick support, but only for certain markets. Earlier today I installed a rom with security patches for November made for the operator Telekom. It works alright but it's certainly not official for my country. For the Chinese market they are already on Android 7 Nougat. One wishes they could synchronize their releases a LOT better.
Hey, my phone got updated this morning! Was it Oreo? No...no, it was a security patch. Are we getting Oreo before the G7 comes out or is it not looking too good for the G6?
Not really sure why everyone is so impatient about getting Oreo. 7.0 works fine and we are getting security updates. What doesn't work that requires Oreo? I'm happy to wait.
given the issues that tmo seems to be having with the oreo update, im very much ok with waiting for it. 7.0 works quite well and we are getting the security updates.
Interesting because I'm not getting the updates and am actually still on December's patch

This update is rolling out in waves. The last update was the December security patch so nothing unusual here. It will come to you eventually.
Android Authority reports the US Verizon G6 got Oreo today. T-Mobile is usually the last among US carriers to get major OS updates, so I suspect we'll get it in July.

I believe it is because T-Mobile does so much mucking around with the MFG's FW. I think they monitor the apps you install, block tethering apps (at an OS level), and do other things that are not good and add bloat.
I am rooted and waiting for Lineage or another to become more stable and I am ditching T-Mobile's FW releases.

have you tried oreo 8.1? it does run alot smoother then 7.0 , better notifications. and picture-n-picture is pretty sweet
Got the update today. Seems pretty nice so far. Cleaner. Nice little touches here and there. Even freed up some much needed space. Only thing I'm noticing is a good bit of lag in chrome especially when typing.

You getting the update through lg bridge? And does anybody know of an unlocked bootloader would effect the update process?

It was OTA. Popped up late the night before I made that post. As long as you're not rooted or modified any system files, I don't think an unlocked bootloader will affect an update.
And a lot of the lag cleared up. Just some FC issues with some games at first start. Still don't have great wifi or cell reception with this phone.
Can anyone comment full pie firmware for Razer 2
Let's see what the system says...
there's no pie firmware yet ?
This brings up a good point though. For all their marketing about this being a flagship phone, they released with a version of Android that launched 08/21/2017, and we are still not updated with a version released almost a year ago. We should be hitting Razer's social media with this as our silence tells them that we are content with Samsung-esque update cycles.
Accidental double post
this is the response I got from them about the release date, Like the last paragraph....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Thomas,
Great day! Thank you for contacting Razer support. This is regarding your concern about the availability of Android Pie for Razer phones. Razer is committed to supporting the latest versions of Android and we are working on releasing Android P for the Razer Phone. We do not have a defined release date yet and the dates may vary based on your region and mobile provider. To ensure you get the release as soon as it is available, please be sure your Razer Phone always has the latest software updates installed via OTA.
We don't suggest to download the android P from a computer to your Razer phone as it will automatically void the limited warranty of the phone and may cause some apps to work as it should be.

Thanks! Was going to post this, but you beat me to it! Saved me the trouble.
Yesterday received first update since January's upgrade to Pie. Sadly it just brings the security level from December 2018 to April 2019, version being 9.0.0.255 i.e not 9.1. Not only do we have Huawei's arrangement with UK network operators delaying updates, we now have Google under orders from the Trump adding another potential maybe permanent delay. If forum administrator agrees, perhaps this topic can remain open as an ongoing record.
[Huawei P20 Pro CLT-L09 9.0.0.255 (C782)]
[Google Play Services 17.4.55 (100408-248795830)] [SIM-free from Carphone Warehouse / O2 branded via GiffGaff]
Nothing on my o2. Such a shame that this device is not supported like some other brands.

Not really. That thread is not country specific; note I specified "UK" in the topic header. My experience to date is knowing when updates are being pushed in other countries or regions doesn't help much with regard to the UK owing to the special arrangement between Huawei and UK mobile network operators. While one Swallow does not make a Summer, it's helpful to know when a new update is released by one of the UK networks.
I had no updates from o2 since December. Plugged a Vodafone sim in and 255 arrived immediately.

Interesting! As you were just over three weeks behind my GiffGaff/O2 255 update you _might_ have received 255 via O2 had you waited a little longer (my previous update to 168 and December security patch was in January). That being said, perhaps switching sims puts you to the head of the staggered update queue of the changed network provider.
According to Huawei UK twitter feed :
The wait is finally over ?. We’re excited to launch EMUI 9.1 this July, to provide you with a faster, smoother and smarter experience. Elevate your performance: https://t.co/LBWyX0WO43 https://t.co/UMVRath1mO

Are you staying with Vodafone or switching back to O2?
It’s my daughters sim, so can test again another time. To be honest, I have been using an iPhone XS and when I occasionally test the p20 pro again, the indoor photos are washed out and dark compared to the iPhone.

Let's just thank to the Huawei employee who is sharing this with us! Loool
3.1 received OTA in the early hours of this morning.
[Huawei P20 Pro CLT-L09 9.1.0.311 (C782)]
[Google Play Services 18.4.53 (100408-260559365)] [SIM-free from Carphone Warehouse / O2 branded via GiffGaff]
Brief observations :
Just under 4.5GB so long download.
During post-install restart the initial Huawei logo screen displayed for a very long time (several minutes) so don't panic!
Noticeable improvement in responsiveness although how long that will last remains to be seen.
Lastly, security patch level is July.
Why do they write about GPU turbo. Version C782 does not receive it

From some very brief research I believe the only way of telling if GPU Turbo is installed is by the improved responsiveness when running a game that can use it. I am not a 'gamer' so have no way of testing that. What makes you believe the update package content information is incorrect?

311 rolled out to me followed by a small patch. Much smoother now. Pleased about the improvements so far.
EE rolled out 9.1.0.311 to my C782 a few weeks back.
The battery is now on par with my old iPhone 6s. They haven't rolled the patch out yet.
