Is the battery supposed to be this bad? it lasts day max!
this is bad bad!!
i have removed td flo from home and installed NOGPRS which diables wap, gprs etc etc, disabled phone pad with adv config, changed backlight settings and most thigns that can cause the phone to drain more battery
but for the phone the phone to need recharging everyday is not on at all! what about if you stay at someones house or have a heavy day on te the phone or whatever
my compact 2 lasted a whole week!!!!!! my compact 3/artemis lasted 2 days and now and newer model lasts a day?>??!!! my god this is ridiculous.
my k850i has the same sized batery and lasts a week FULL use!!! what are htc doing?????
all this technology and they honstly cant make a darn battery last??
has anyone found out a way to make it last atleast 2 days with moderate usage? say an hour of phone calls, 10 texts, 10 mins using calendar, and downloading a few emails??

Yes .... turn the phone off at night
I agree that the battery time is worthless. But comparing to the other phones you mentioned there, HTC Touch Diamond has much better hardware spec. Maybe the batteries had a few more mAh in those Compaq phones?
Regarding the k850i it has a 930mAh battery (Diamond has 900mAh), and you can't really compare a smartphone with a 'standard' phone as the k850i.
I have seen batteries for the Diamond at 1340mAh to 2200mAh. Maybe you can take a look at one of those? Of course, your Diamond will be a few mm thicker. But maybe you can live with that?
are you serious? come on man! that cant be the answer?
il give this some time, maybe a new rom will help with this butu if not, as much as i love this baby, im going back to the artemis and the diamonds going on ebay!

Starflake, thats a really good idea il check those batteries out now.
your right i dont really want the phone to be thicker, but what the hell, 1 day is just a joke, im sorry, htc should seriously pull their fingers out! a phone that opnly lasts a day, isnt that smart!!!! even the iphone lasts longer!!!!!

I couldn't agree more. At least they could have delivered the Diamond with the same battery as the Touch Pro will have (1340mAh).
I have problems getting the battery to last even 24 hours. And I don't even use the phone as much as I did the first week.
I'm used to charge the batteries every night since i had my SE P1i. So I wasn't really very much surprised over the Diamonds battery performance.
It helps much to not have wlan, bt and 3g on all the time.
Here is your answer:
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_touch_diamond_gets_a_beefier_battery_users_cheer-news-544.php
More we cannot do for you, sry, at least for the moment
having updated to radio 1.00.25.5 and disconnected the diamond from its charger yesterday at 8.30am i am currently at 39% battery left. that's with disconnecting gprs after each use and flight mode during the night. i check my mails manually once in an hour, use opera mini for webbrowsing, did some calls, wrote 15 short messages...i am pretty satisfied. but the first days after i got the diamond were really disappoining i have to admit.
I have found that the tweaks I applied seriously affected battery life. After a hard reset, the battery lasts significantly longer. After applying the TF3D tweaks again then battery suffers again. If you did apply the tweaks initially, try setting them back to default.
No matter how you look at it, the battery life of Diamond is dismal. You can only last a day if you don't watch movies, if you don't listen to music, if you don't use GPS. But then, why did we buy this phone if we won't be able to use it?
I was fed up with it, so I bought an emergency charger like the one you can see here:
http://www.cdwg.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1113988
Now I can use normal AA batteries to charge my Diamond. A rechargeble battery of 2700 mAh can charge it 3 times which will last the day no matter how much you use it.
So if you carry around a few normal AA batteries with such a small charger like I do, you don't have a battery problem anymore...
UPDATE (actually a sad correction): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2502994&postcount=32
Very good idea. It is one more thing in our pocket, but it can be very usefull in some cases.
The American Diamond comes with a 1340 mAh battery... So it shouldn't be as troublesome as your 900 mAh power source.
and are they bigger ?
Could u give us the dimensions of your phone with this kind of battery ?
A 1340 mah battery would last only 50% longer than the standard one. A charger like mine with an AA battery would make the phone last 300% longer. You only have to carry one more thing in your bag.
With your cigarettes, your wallet, your keys, etc.
Yeah I know I should quit smoking then !
I wonder if this would work: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8103
It's obviously not as efficient because it only uses 1 battery, but it's a lot smaller.
I used one of those at Glastonbury this year on my old nokia n73 all it does is give you an emergency charge say 2 bars on a nokia. Enough to make a few quick calls.
or something like this?
wonder if it will work on a Diamond?

According to some specs I have seen for the "HTC Victor" on the Sprint network, the thickness of the phone increases to 0.6 inches from 0.5 Inches (14mm from 11.5mm)
I for one would be happy to add an extra 2.5mm to my phone to get the increased battery life.
I believe its a bulkier battery with a deeper back cover.
All HTC devices have crap battery life, its generally because people use them for things other than phones. Im sure if you did all what is stated on a normal phone then it wouldnt last much longer than a day as well. I know my Sony Ericsson will probably only last 2 days if I just have a bluetooth headset connected, and thats without making any calls, watching videos or listening to music.
Top Tip, carry a travel USB cable with you, youre never to far from a PC... When Im away on business I keep my diamond and TyTn plugged into the lappy all the time.
Car charger
I use a car charger. It is more practical.
I have no battery problems at all with my Diamond. The battery was pretty bad at first (would only last a day), but now it's fine and I can get 3-4 days out of a single charge.
In-car charger plus desktop charger when at work. Result? Infinite battery life!

Im with the fella above,
Bought an extra mini-usb cable and carry all the time with me.
I have in the car some of those carchargers with usb out (of a non working FM-RAdio USB that bought for 4 euros), at home i use the DC charger at the office i connect it to the laptop.
All HTC have battery problems and diamong beeing a small unit, its a price to pay.
Same to the iphone in 3G mode.
to be honest since i bought the phone and charged it a couple of times, i get a 3 days tops usage with music, calls and all the other clicking. i don't know about you guys, but so far i'm quite happy with my batery life, and i haven't been using it for more than 3 weeks yet.
and in case i will eventualy have this issue, a spare batery will do the job

My bat life is also OK now. Any of you guys considered to buy a spare bat - it's the smallest soultion I think, but of couse you need rebooting the phone.
This is another good solution.... I think

And maybe, buy instead a nokia 1600 !
But what you say is true... I have an old SE that is used only to wake me up... it lasts at least 1 month without charging !
Hi
I finally buy a momax battery for USD 13 . I am charging it now. Will give you update news when i used to replace the original battery.
posts on the web said that it is even better than the original battery though it is 1100mah only

I bought one for 27USD from ebay, where did you find the cheaper one?

I bought it in Hong Kong which costs HKD 100 (~USD 13). Much cheaper.
I bought a charger for the battery as well. It can charge 2 batteries at the same time !

I suggest to all those who havent bought it yet, and are planing to, please wait for some time if its not urgent, MOMAX will surely come out with a "X-LEVEL" battery for the HD2!
I have used the MOMAX X-LEVEL battery for my previous Touch HD, and it was like around 20% more long lasting than the Original battery by HTC.
interesting. im doing the last full empty to full charge cycle (ive heard its good for the battery) and this is day 3 (21:00) iver used the phone couple of times a day for calls (short ones) and for a few youtube vids via 3.5g some games and just playing around with it.
ive noticed battery drains very fast when using wifi and data connection.
so a 10 to 20 % increase in battery life might not be that exciting.
unless i buy one as a backup battery.
might do that..pls keep me posted
i will be keeping an eye on this thread as i just scrap through a day with the original battery... its gettign me down
must add thou, how is it better being less mAh ?
in the same size? I mean you don't need another back cover..?
Man. There are people complaining about having 30% on day 2. I'm at 30% before 5pm on the first day.

Haha! ^This^ - If I just leave the phone sitting there, on the desk - Battery life is good. But, I bought this phone to play with, dammit! I can use up 30/40% of battery before lunch surfing, tweeting, watching vids, listening to podcast etc, Oh - and feeding my addiction to crayon physics. I have actually had to invest in a 'manbag' (dear Lord, the shame!) in order to cart around my charger.
Coming from a Nokia E71 - which had a phenomenal battery life (i'd get three/four days of heavy use) it's a bit of a shock, but understandable - after all, screen is about 4 times the size! However; physically, the E71 battery (BP-4L) was no larger - if anything seemed slightly smaller in my recall - and was a 1500mAh beast. Surely HTC could have crammed in a little more juice without having the resort to turning the slim HD2 into a less handsome Quasimdo figure with the promised extended battery? Oh well, I shall stick to the manbag for now.
Amazing! Where do you people find this information on batteries and chargers such as the Momax!!! In relation to this subject: has anyone spotted the double capacaty battery and matsching backplate for the HD2, you know the one that has been rumuroing arout on other forum threads on the Leo (with the picture where the stand leg comes out of the back plate).
I have gone for it ! LOL that thing is huge!! It doesn't look that comfortable. I just bought a second battery as a back up. I figure that since I am pulling out my battery to reset the phone once or twice every day that I would make sense to have a fully charged battery in case I was low on juice or something.

Does the kickstand feel pretty sturdy? And, does it "snap" into fully-open/fully-closed positions, or does it travel freely between them?
Does anyone have any news on when the extended life SLIM battery will be released, either by SEIDIO or MUGEN POWER? I'd like more battery life but not that huge back.

i heard that HTC HD2 Extended Battery BP E400 will not fit HD2 TMOUS version very well and i am looking for someone to confirm this for me ?
Well im bored in my class. So i guess, ill write up this review.
First off, I purchased andida battery off ebay, and is a very well known, i believe korean battery maker. It took two weeks from Hong Kong for me to receive the battery. Second, i did proper break-in for the battery, about 5-6full charge & discharges. The OEM battery barely lasted the entire day for me, i disconnect from the charger at 9 A.M., and by 8:30, im at 1%!! With the new battery, the same goes, but by 8:30, im at 15%, and will die by about 10ish. I have the phone set for push email, and the bulk of my email comes in about between 10am & 2pm. The Sense updates are set to 4 hour updates & im constantly connected to 3G. The phone never sees a charger in between 9AM & 10pm. Hopefully this sheds some light about this battery.

I'm using the 2600mah Mugen extended battery and I gotta say its a huge improvement. I work 10 hour shifts and I use to leave work with only about 30-20% left and now I'm at 65-70% at the end of shift. I use it as a router a couple times a day, listen to a couple songs, and look stuff up online. I was real timid about using my phone at all cuz it would kill my battery, but now I have no problems with heavy usage. It does take a couple charges to really unlock the batteries full capacity.

Ordered the same battery. Have had it about a week and a half, and I'm only by my third charge. The only complaints I have so far are the 4-5 12 hour charges that the instructions say you should do initially (thankfully I only have 2 more charges to go); and the battery cover included is flimsy. It pops off with the slightest touch. Might be just a defect on mine, but maybe others can confirm this. Good thing I had another cover that stays on.
Mugenpower extended battery case
Has anyone ordered the mugen power extended battery case. Imwondering if it will fit tmobilehd2 due to the slight difference in size. I know that a lot of us are looking for a case for an extended battery. It's avail. At mugenpower.net
I recently got mine and I will leave a review on it on this thread in a week or so. Apparently the battery gets better and better if you charge it right, after about a week. That and I have a couple programs I'm trying, to correctly recalibrate it. Battery Left widget, Battery Monitor, which measures it by mAv rather than regularly. And Battery Calibrator, which deletes the battery file in the phone, and remakes it. I have the most hope in that one. Can anyone else give a review on a good program to CORRECTLY calibrate this battery?
i purchased one of these myself a while ago and unless quality has improved, i was hugely disapointed for the cost
the 2 internal elements of the battery are 'stuck together' with a black tape style surround. This causes after some use of separate device charging ( charging in a charger and not the phone ) the battery to lose its shape causing the streak to think a battery is not present
the life of the battery itself is good, but the.g

The 4800mAh one doesn't have a clip. And the only thing I don't like about this battery is the fact that the cover is plastic. But I'm in love with the battery itself. I've done everything I can to make it die. Streak's overclocked to 1.2gHz. Backlight's up. Bluetooth is on. Wifi is on. Even been playing music a -lot-. It's been off a charger for 83 hours.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Update. The same thing I love with this battery, I also hate. The instructions said to charge to 100%, let it die, and repeat for about the first 5 charges. I haven't been able to do this, and I -have- to charge it tonight. I don't even know what percent it's at, which is driving me crazy... I'm literally trying to get the battery to die... This is a mere annoyance, for now, though... I'm sure I'll get used to it... I'll just charge it every 3 days, or something.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
My battery JUST died! Lol....Atleast 60 hours of use, with atleast 10 hours of playing music...
wow 60 hrs is hectic.. i might get me one aswel
60 freakin hours? Crazy stuff! Tempted to also get one.
My first charge was over 86 hours.
I see that all the Mugen Extended battery posts are from August so I have to wonder if the battery issue has been fixed. When I got my battery it would give me 3-4-5 days .. then as soon as I upgraded from 1.6 to 2.1 or 2.2 I would get a low battery warning long before my battery was used up. I had to remove the battery and turn it back on for the warning message to go away. Besides that being a pain in the butt, you have to be VERY VERY careful to not break the plastic clips .. I could get by with one broken off but sometimes the phone would shut off .. so ... Are you all not getting the low battery warning ?? I contacted Mugen often and they couldn't figure out the problem. they said the problem was with Dell and Dell wouldn't tell them how to fix it.
Well, on my last charge, I got the low battery warning after 3 days...You have to delete the battery stats file then charge it to 100% and let it die. It calibrates it a bit better, atleast.
I have read other posts that state that these extended batteries use a pack that actually contains two batteries and that power cycling the phone when it gets to or near zero causes the battery meter to properly read it after it has switched to the second battery.

I bought mine when they first arrived at Mugen. I don't remember how long ago that was but I was posting daily my battery status. Probably a year ago. I think I got 4 days. Not heavy usage. I was on T-Mobile Edge. That was before I upgraded from 1.3 to 2.1 or whatever it was. IMMEDIATELY the Streak could no longer read the battery. It isn't really 2 batteries hooked together .. or maybe it is .. there is the part of the battery that fits in where the original battery goes and then the rest of the battery is the size of the cover .. but thin .. Any way .. It would tell me that I needed to re-charge, but all I had to do was remove the battery and replace it and get more life from the battery. Still .. it never felt as long having to remove and replace. If I remember correctly - resetting the Streak didn't do the job, the battery needed to come out. It was a pain because the cover isn't metal and the little clips are plastic .. BE VERY CAREFUL removing the cover. Mugen will replace the cover but it sucks having to treat it so gently.
Whatever ... in the end. NO PROBLEMS with the original 1.3 version .. THAT could read the life of the battery correctly. I thought by now one of the XDA people would have come up with a fix. I think I won't buy another until there is a fix. If you have to constantly take it out and put it back, may as well have 2 of the regular batteries. Then you don't have to worry about that CHEAP plastic back cover.
I found this post of mine from BEFORE I UPGRADED to 2.2 ..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831282
at 10th November 2010
"Today has been 72 hours since I unplugged it from the charger and I am at 58% .. I am not going to put it on the charger until it won't start !!"
I don't know where I posted after that ... but I know I got at least another day.
Well, they tell you on the site that it won't read the battery correctly.
Mugen didn't know that it wouldn't read the battery until people started complaining after the 2.2 upgrade. I know this because I was one of the first to buy the battery and the first to get upset after I upgraded.
Well...If you've ever used Battery Dr., they calculate how long you can use music, video, 3g, wifi, etc. And since this is approximately 3x as powerful as the regular battery (Mugen says 3.14x) I just extended the times to calculate, by 3x.
Cool to see people having success with this.....I think I'm going to spring for the 1800 mAh battery from Mugen and see how it works. Not really into having a flimsy extended case for my phone. Even though multiple day charges would be nice, I'm just looking to make it through 10-12 hours.
