hi,
what are the differences between the offical uk r2aa008 and the r2aa010 roms?
not a huge amount if you windiff them.. But enough to make R10 a little bit quicker.
i got r2aa008 installed at mo. i know it has a newer radio but not sure if its worth waiting till r3 comes out as it ok on speed at the mo.
does the radio make a difference? in cellphone (mobile phone) signal?
I just updated radio , from R2A to latest , just to see any changes , everything looks the same , signal , batery , its OK , but no change for me .
Its working as nice as before .
I actually did notice some difference signalwise, when i made this update a while back. I spend a lot of time in an area where there is a constant shift between 3G and 2G and after the update I now rarely loose the 3G signal, before I had to be in a ceratin spot in the room to catch it.

TBH, R2AA008 is slower than R2AA010, however, I've noticed a few glitches in v10, i.e. screen tearing after using QTv functions, as well as sometimes mo hangs for a bit... I did only a few tweaks, same as I did on v08. There was no such problem on that version.
Cannot wait enough to get my hands on R3
i upgraded my rom yesterday (lots of probs restoring backup) to find that it says i still have not got the latest radio.
so i will have to hardspl to put the latest radio on. i too cant wait for the r3 firmware.
What I found different between R2AA008 and R2AA010:
1. Touchflo scrolling smoother.
2. Speed seems to be a bit faster.
3. Bluetooth headphone is more stable (BT connection with headphone disconnected very often after the phone call in R2AA008)
4. Panel Manager is much smoother and quickier.
5. Have to reset about 2 or 3 times a week with R2AA008 and about once in 2 weeks with R2AA010).
6. Less touch screen driver crashes (R2AA008 has many touch screen driver crashes - can't touch anything and have to reset the device).

1. using the b3 cab of mainia, did not improve in anyway with upgrade.
2. think your right here.
3. dont use bluetooth handphone.
4. im using the new panel manager, no real changes.
5. never had to reset the phone much on any rom.
6. never had that prob.
i only really upgrade to get the new radio and everything else was extra but now have to upgrade radio separate with means hardspl (what i did not really want to do).
TouchFlo scrolling dies not have anything to do with Manila in this case...it's just the ability to scroll with your finger in any app...
the new radio .71 that i upgraded to (as .76 suppost to be not as good) seems to be good so far. although my signal has not improved, it does not seem to lose signal for no reason like the old one did.

Yeah, That's right. It is a scrolling feature in all programs. One thing annoying though, can't disable it for specific programs like in Ftouchflo. My favourite Phatpad software is not working well.
I tried to disable with class name but don't seem to work. HTC should have a config program for this. They have it what..? Only sound on/off.

Yes, it is. Very useful but very annoying too when you want to use note taking and drawing applications.
But buitt-in note program is fine. When SIP is active the scrolling didn't kick in.

How is HTC with rom updates?
What do you want to see fixed in the ROM Update (if there is going to come one)
I really want the following fixed:
1. Camera choppyness when it does not have sufficient light.
2. Handsfree speaker duplexity
Agreed - plus they can sort out the GPS - my Trinity was miles better for signal, time of lock etc & I didn't have to keep running GPSviewer to get other programs (eg Googlemaps & TomTom) correctly using the GPS????- maybe we'll have to wait for a better Radio ROM update??
But will it come? i dont know HTC. so how are they with updates?
1. Faster Loading time (recovering from SR)
2. Faster Device
3. Faster Screen rotation
4. Better BT Headset volume in calls
5. Better Battery life

...I need the battery.
How can make it?.
For those of you who are new to these devices... the historical situation has been that Microsoft release updates for OS bugs to the Manufacturers and Networks who customised their own roms. It is then up to them as to whether they wish to release rom updates that have been personalised. It would usually be one major update about a year after a device first hits the streets...
However, with Wm6 we have Windows Updates built in - so it may well be that updates will be available directly to the devices.
I can use TomTom fine without running GPS Viewer.

Hello again, I have this big problem with my Kaiser :
since I installed the last HTC 6.1 ROM update, my device randomly freezes for 10-20 seconds.
I also noticed that my devices sometimes slow down ...
Does anyone else have this problem ?
The solution : Downgrade to WM6 !
I think I've found where the problem is :
since I stopped using "Quick Menu", the Kaiser does not freeze anymore ...
That means this is another usefull application I will have to stop using with the HTC 6.1 ROM !!!
Sorry but I don't know what is Quick menu...

If you don't know it, that means you didn't install it on your Kaiser. So your freeze problems were not coming from this application. Sorry ...
The biggest bug i've been with wm6.1 : my kaiser soft reset alone all the time ! Maybe they're drunk when they're built this rom lol ! They should have write : THE MAGIC FUNNY WM6.1 RELEASE WITH GHOST TOUCH !
I disabled Weather tab and contacts tab with HTC home customizer. It seems to work well now. I will see if problem has really gone. Thank you for your help Dizzy. You gave a direction to my searchs
You're welcome ... But I use HTC home mainly for its contact and weather application ... So it's not a solution for me.
I noticed that orange france users had problems. Perhaps it is linked with our SIM CARD...
do you really need to post two threads on this?
I thought about using HTC's rom, but instead, i used dutty's lite rom, and built it up myself with what i wanted. Its a hell of a,lot faster, i wouldnt touch another oem htc rom ever again, they are full of rubbish, and slow as my old wizard
Finally I discovered that the problem didn't come from "Quick Menu", but from "HTC home" !!!!!
HTC home does slown down my Kaiser and is responsible for randoms freezes of it !
If I disable "HTC home" on the today setup screen, then everything is faster (start menu display ...).
I re-installed Quick-menu and now my Kaiser is working fine.
I will have to replace HTC home by a clone application ...
I haven't had any issues with my Kaiser freezing with the 3.28.405.0 WWE ROM, but then I haven't used ROM that was oficially released by HTC. Instead I've been using the one that was leaked out a couple of days before the official release.
Is it possible that the official ROM image is corrupted in some way? I've noticed this post over in the Kaiser ROM Development forum, which was posted today:

I'm not the only one having trouble with 6.1. They said in the next two days there will be a "new" version available.
The file we could download now is corrupt and they will upload a non corrupt version. Supposedly the file was corrupt by uploading to ftp server
I think they will release a patched version.

I've installed the official (English) rom I got from someone in the UK (there is none for TYTN II from Hong Kong being used in the USA as of yet ) and loved the idea that all I had to do is just install ( No hard SPL ) and everything seems fine. I have a lot of apps. installed and everything is fine.
I upgraded to the leaked ROM and have had nothing but Freezing problems !!
I turned off HTC home and this seemed to do the job...for about 12 hours and then wouldnt you know it, its slow again.
I did a hard reset and turned everything off, used Kaiser tweaks to change the cache options and its still not right.
I feel badly let down by this product. I upgraded from a blackberry 8800 which ran like a dream, no problems. I've always been alittle sceptical about Windows Mobile Products. I've owned many PDAs in the past and have always felt that they were always compromised. My Dell Axim X51v was a good PDA but too bulky to carry around. I've always been someone who wasnt bothered by Windows Mobile Devices because of their windows hang ups. Seems I was proved right, though I know this isnt necessarily a Windows thing, more likely a HTC thing....it still doesnt help !
I needed a product that offered, office apps, with internet and the ability to FTP easily at high speeds either over WiFi or 3g. The Vario III had the lot including imense flexability which made me give up my Blackberry (which was a big thing, trust me as I adored my blackberry,,,it was just alittle limited).
After having purchased HTC's almost flagship model I've feel totally let down, they knowingly shipped a product that was flawed and then released a dodgy fix that affectively made the device worse (for some of us!). Freezing all the time. When it wasnt freezing it was a pleasure to use...but seriously, i'm 5 weeks into using it and I'm absolutely pee'd off. I seem to be constantly looking for fixes all the time !! my wife thinks I've become bloody addicted to it, she wont listen when i tell her I'm trying to fix it. it always seems to be in my hand !! (the kaiser that is )
That blackberry of mine is going to be taken out of the box and this paper weight will be used as just that.
gutted man
Ste
You need to remove the HardSPL application from your Kaiser in order to stop the freezes ... Take a look at this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=394783
It works ... Guaranteed !
Yes, the HardSPL is your problem, not HTC.
I tried the official htc e-club 6.1 and had lots of freezing issues. It would just freez for 20 seconds or so then start working again. Drove me crazy. I off-loaded it and re-loaded dutty's 6.1 hybrid and am very happy with it. Very stable, no more freezes either. I also reloaded mobile shell and found it to work much better than with the old 6.0. The memory issues, leaks etc. I had with shell on 6.0 seem to have become almost non-existant with this rom. And did I say batt life is heaven . I'm stickin' with what works for now.
I have the problem that Activesync is automatically turned on when I start the phone and it makes alot of problems but when I turn it off it usually solves it - anyone know how to fix this?

I had a similar issue where Activesync would start running on my phone every so many minutes, when looking in the task manager it would be running. I fixed that by running task manager v2.8 from Fdcsoft you can download it from here http://www.dotfred.net/TaskMgr.htm with that go to notification and disable replog.exe (AppRunAfterTimeChange). This does not affect active sync working when connecting to a pc or with push email.
So I just disabled all of AdvancedConfigs tweaks... I can't tell where the problem was, but I could not answer the phone anymore. I was also getting random crashes (especially overnight after charging), and the phone was actually slower. It seems like it's almost there, but there are too many options that are not quite stable on the (sprint) touch pro...
Looking forward to a few versions from now
There are so many tweaks that have promise... I really want to use it, but a phone should be able to answer calls
Is anyone having a stable experience with all the performance and battery tweaks?
I'm not sure what you're talking about but i use the program on both, my Tilt and 8525 and have zero issues. It makes the devices much more responsive and maximizes their performances. Maybe some other program is causing all your issues and the phone not being able to answer.
No issues for me, noticed an improvement right away.
Like Kareem said, I'll bet its other software that you have installed.
I was hoping it was some other software since as I said, I would love to get the performance/battery improvements I hear you can get.
That being said, As soon as I reverted all options to default within the program, the phone stopped acting up... It is a sprint Touch Pro, so I wonder if the phone is different enough from the other diamond/touch pro's (CDMA vs. GSM?) that some of the options are really problematic.
The Fix . . . maybe.
I have the sprint version and had the same problem with Diamond Tweaks. I found this fix:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=458469&postcount=1
It turned out to be an issue with the data stream not turning off when call are coming in. The fix listed above worked like a charm.
That sounds like what I was experiencing... I will give it another try this week... after I make sure that nothing else is wrong with my phone, before going back to AdvancedConfig.

The same here on my Fuze, I use both Advanced Config and Diamond Tweaks, and it's purring like a kitten!
I hate to love it
yeah!
I had bad experiences with it. my suggestion is change only the stuff that you really need. Do not go around peeking into all the options and change everything to advised.
I did it with tilt and had bad experiences. Did it again on my new Fuze...Still no Luck..
I use it for specific stuff like remapping buttons on my tilt...
I don't really need it on Fuze..Only button i want t remap is PTT which ic an not do.
The performance settings are available in Diamond TF3D Config 0.6.7 ..
Most importantly... don't touch GPS, Bluetooth settings...My tilt got messed up so badly.....
I dont know what the reason is but it just doesn't work for me....
Did it work?
Bioart,
Did that solution work out for you?

this works for me only some times. when im on the web (evdo) i still cant answer my phone hardware or software wont respond
Hello there,
I bought a week ago a second hand kaiser, and i noticed that it already had the hyper dragon IV lite rom flashed, so i told myself, all the hard work is done, go try some custom roms.
And I did, there was some lite ones, some plenty of softwares, some 6.5, but the thing i want from this phone is: THE GPS and the MP3 player, thos are the most important things for me, since i am all the time moving here and there, i really need them.
So, in order to be a more independant guy, i searched, and i searched again, i found some useful threads that made my gps work (because it almost wasn't working i bought it), and some others that made GPSTest display high bars on gps detecting but no fix at all (it also screwed my signal, and fu**** up my camera, and that's bad), all that by changing radio roms and trying.
And well i am very tired of trying again and again, feel just like if i was stuck in the middle of nowhere.
So, my questions:
Does the gps really work better on 6.0wm than the 6.1 and 6.5?
Does the gps really work better on stock roms than cooked ones?
Does the quickgps software really improve the speed to get a FIX?
How long are the bars your devices display when you activate your GPSTest soft? (i'm having a quarter max, and when i say a quarter, it is really the down limit of the quarter, it rarely go upper)
I have a tomtom 7.450 soft, and this thing is all the time saying bad gps reception (sometimes it even end up screaming no gps harware), is it normal?
So what software do you use for navigation?
I really don't care about cooked roms optimisations, fast and everything and all that, i want to be able to answer and emit calls, receive and send SMS, write some notes from time to time, and make GPS working great, wanna have a super fast fix.
I'm living at Brussel in belgium, living in the 5th floor, and testing my gps close to window, or i go to a parc 10 minutes away from home.
I am ready to try almost everything that can guis ALL of US to have a better GPS!
This works for me.

As I charge my TyTN II by putting it to bed in its cradle every night (which is connected via USB to my PC on the internet), it automatically updates its QuickGPS data so it's hardly ever more than a day old any way. Often times during a day while I've got an active data connection I'll also manually initiate a QuickGPS download. Interestingly, the HTC Official WM 6.1 'update' for my TyTN II broke this feature and QuickGPS wouldn't automatically update when plugged into its cradle - even manual updates didn't make a difference though as far as WM 6.1 was concerned.

I have version 6.032 which came with my HTC Branded TyTN II on an accompanying CDROM. It's still avail for purchase although for some crazy reason TomTom wont sell version 7 or even an upgrade to it so there's no official way to buy it except for on the devices it comes with. If you get hold of version 6 from TomTom on a device kitted out as per mine, it will work and work well - unless you have lead lined walls and heat reflective film on your windows in which case you'll only get good performance outside.

Similar priorities to me, the only true speed/performance related area I find important is GPS, reliability is the next preference and thats where the Radio version I'm using comes into things. I found that although 1.27.12.11 gave quick GPS fixes, sometimes when Pocket Media Player was playing a music or video file, it'd stall its playback while waiting for TomTom to get a fix. Radio version 1.27.12.32 fixes this and also gives quick GPS fixes. I have tried even newer radios (2 versions of 1.27.15.32) but alas as is with the case of many of the newer offerings, that was a step backwards in terms of GPS performance (at least here in the UK (/Europe?).
There is a section in the xda-dev wiki all about improving GPS performance if you haven't already found it.
I had tomtom 7 and the gps fix in that software was horrible for me. Even when google maps and gpstest had a good fix, tomtom would say "bad signal" or "no signal. I switched to igo which locks in after a minute and works perfectly. The other problem that could be affecting you might be the radio version. I had one radio that would make my GPS useless; it would never connect. Try changing your radios and see if that helps.

Again, you need ALL the bits in my sig (note that I don't need or use GPStest under this WM 6.0 setup). I cant say how it'll go with other than TomTom 6 as thats all I've used apart from Google Maps which also works very well on this setup - you might want to try the free Google Maps for testing purposes if you have a data package from your network provider.
I got my current setup by flashing hardSPL 1 then the complete ROM shown in my sig (which came with 1.27.12.11 Radio originally) then upgrading the radio to 1.27.12.32, then flashing the HTC 1.93 spl (this last step shouldn't be necessary though if you think you'll be doing more flashing).
I'm using the official WM6.1 and the GPS lock is horrible. I can see it getting signal from a number of sats but it can take 10minutes to lock in sometimes. I've read some threads on the subject, and have tried Quick GPS and have aGPS off, but neither guarantees a quick lock.
I seem to recall WM6.0 was better but it was also using a different radio then as well.
Anyway, sorry nothing I can offer to help.

You mean like the setup in my signature? You do realise it's possible to go back to this if you read up here on xda-dev about how to do so?

I agree, short of trying a custom WM 6.1 ROM, with no guarantee of success or installing third party apps to 'help' the GPS work properly, IMO WM 6.1 is a lost cause as far as GPS is concerned.
I had the same problems with the GPS, what I've found to work is using a program called GPSToday. there are 2 programs, one is a today plugin, and the other is a program. I use the program, and it really makes a difference for me. If you do a search in the Kaiser software forum, you will find more information about it. I use it with TomTom software, i start GPS today a min or 2 before i start tomtom and i get a fix right away.

Great News from Here
I Managed to get my phone configured exactly like yours, and god! It is damnly fast, i got my first fix within seconds, its almost unbelievable !
I had it configured like that when you first advised, but i forgot to downgrade spl, i suppose that was the cause of the malfunctioning.
I really recommend to everyone who have the same priorities, to flash back to Flying Kiwi settings:
ROM Version: 1.56.405.5
ROM Date: 08/28/07
Radio: 1.27.12.32 (better than 1.27.12.11 with WMP)
Protocol: 22.45.88.07H
SPL: 1.93

For downloading the 1.56.405.5 rom: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_ROMs
For the 1.27.12.32 radio: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Radio
Man, you really were very helpful, thank you very very very much, and my kaiser is even faster with this settings.
If i can help by anyway send a pm please
This post should be made sticky for future information!
EDIT:
I have to Warn you Guys: In order to have the GPS working you have to follow this procedure:
Flash the 1.56.405.5 rom and then flash the 1.27.12.32 radio rom, and finally flash the SPL, otherwise GPS will not work, i just tested that
Did the Wm6.0 up/downgrade also resolve the precission of the GPS?
Iam now on WM6.1 WWE with radio 1.70.19.09 and hardSPL 3.56 with a realy fast GPS fix within 30 secs. no problems with that
But the problem is that I mention a little lag kind of thing when navigation with TT7 in my car. The Tomtom arrow is little bit behind with the reality it is usable though but if i connect it to an external sirfIII gps mouse it is more accurate.
So I wonder if you guys also have a slight GPS lag with WM6.0...
in Tomtom
HTC has released a hotfix for resolving difficulties finding or locating a position when using GPS for HTC Touch Diamond...
You can reach the hotfix from following link:
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=133&cat=0&dl_id=569
I hope this hotfix solves the diamond gps lag.
Did someone tried?

Tried to installed but hotfix says it is not compatible with my device. May have to wait for the diamond ver or if someone here can change the package to work with any device ID
I ran this on my sprint diamond and sprintnav still works, except I found another problem unrelated, sort of.
Hi,
just copied the file to my device (XDA Diamond - Stock Rom) and it works without problems. I think it wont work with custom roms.
I just noticed that the i get a fix very fast. Other than that, i didnt tested if the lag is gone, but why it should be. The fix is only for getting a faster GPS Fix. It isnt a fix for a lag problem.

If anyone with a stock rom can install test and report back, i think we would all be interested. BTW it says on the HTC site that it fixes the 'lag' (if it does woohoo)
I installed the fix on BsB 6.5G Black ROM (no need for original ROM). I can't really say that it helped reducing my satellite fix time. Before installing I had sat fix in about 1 min (cold start) and now it took like 1.5 min. But it seems like more stable (doesn't loose fix like it did sometimes before). On the other hand, warm start is lightning fast, taking about 5 seconds to get a fix.
Didn't test it yet for GPS lag. I will report back in the afternoon!

weird or weird ?
Bad news. The lag of the gps stills on. But the sat fix time is better.
By the way, I have an official 2.03.410.2 ptg rom.
It´s funny that in my old official 1.37... rom the gps worked fine without delays. But now it has 30 mt of delay.
I´ve tried all the com ports in the hardware and the better is 9.
Yes would be fine if we had a cab ..... im still unable to install the fix

Hi Pinttas,
I have a lag on my GPS. I haven't tested different ports. Does it make much difference? Do you know why it might?

WinRar is able to extract content from the Exe, it has a cab layout in fact. From what I can see, it installs "CleanGpsData.exe" with a link to it in \windows\startup (the link didn't seem to be installed on mine by the way).
The cab has a setup.dll, I can't be sure it doesn't adjust any registry settings or else, but it doesn't seem to.
Hi mitsi,
the ports are the whay the software comunicate with the hardware.
I have a big difference between ports, +-30mts.
In the com ports nr 3 and 7 I cant get sat. the 2 is the worst and 9 the better.
I don´t now if is the same for all. I think it depends on the rom you have.

Hi Pinttas,
Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out on mine.... I hope I can find a better port!
I still have the same lag, i still can't use my paired BT Nokia headset and the GPS at the same time (witch i could in the nokia n73). it's a little bit faster the fix, but not as much.
I tried this and have found the fix to be faster, as others have reported. Funnily enough, my Tomtom has no lag but my Igo8 does..... Weird.....
pinntas - you are right about the ports. On some I don't get any connection at all. The others don't seem to be much different though. I think Ports 4 and 9 seem to be the most stable on mine.
