iGo8 Help - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

I've searched every term I can think of, and have found zero answers... How can I get iGo8 to work on my AT&T Fuze (TouchPro/Raphael)? The display is 480x640 (portrait, landscape obviously 640x480). I have found "fixed" branding.zip and data.zip files, however when iGo tries to load it says "Cannot locate ui_igo8\480_640\loading.bmp", even though I have no problem seeing it with my own eyes. What do you need to know and what am I doing wrong?

he's talking about a modified zip file that has a bunch of changes made to it so it'll allow different changes that the stock files in igo, not a warezed version.

(I tried to attach, but the upload failed in both IE and Chrome... Weird.)

I also changes from "landscape" to "portrait", but that made no difference.
And I changed hires to 0; also no help.

what data.zip are you using? Perhaps the file you have does not support vga...it should be at least 39 megs...in the data.zip file, you should have a ui_igo8 folder...open it up and you should have not only 320_240, 240_320 but both variations of 640_280 as well. If you don't have them, well, then there's your problem.
What version igo8 are you trying to run? If it's R3, you need to be very specific as to which data.zip you're trying to run with it.

The data.zip file includes a ton of resolutions, including 480_640. The problem appears to be with the branding.zip which houses the loading.bmp file. I'm not sure why it isn't reading the 480_640\loading.bmp file, but it obviously isn't...

Well.... That definitely works... But I end up with the app running at 240x320, so it's in the upper-left corner of the screen and very tiny. Not as helpful as I'd like a GPS app to be.

Ok, here's my changes that kinda work. Everything is stretched, but I guess it's better than just a tiny corner. If anyone can get me the settings/ZIPs for a true 480x640 skin, that would be fantastic.

I have it working on mine very well but no TTs. This pda version does not support it. Mine is running off my memory card. Make sure your folder is labeled igo8 to match the sys.tx. Also you must disable agps otherwise the gps looses connection constantly.

im both cases make sure you put X first than Y, otherwise you will getthe same "missing .bmp" error message over and over again.

The autoconfig does work. I don't believe I'll be fooling with the branding files anymore. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the main menus look better now. Perhaps it is switching to 640x480 automagically now after loading. Thanks everyone!

HTC Diamond & iGO 8 Troubleshoot

For people who have a HTC Diamond and iGO 8 not getting working.
Install procedure:
1. Unrar the content of the archive (2577 & iGO8 folders) into your Internal Storage
2. Start autorun in your phone
3. After starting up the program delete the 2577 folder from Internal Storage
OR
1. Unrar the content of the archive (iGO8 folder) into your Internal Storage
2. Rename application.dat to iGO8.exe
3. Open SYS.TXT file located in your IGO8 directory and edit the following section to it:

Upgrade procedure (Not 100% sure if working):
1. Start from scratch, and follow the procedure described initially.
2. The first time it says that an "older version exists in your card, do you want to downgrade?"
3. Press yes.
4. A message appear "a newer version exists on your card. do you want to upgrade?"
5. Press yes.
6. Another message appear "older version exists in your card, do you want to downgrade?"
7. Press NO
Settings for GPS:
Go to Settings - GPS Settings, select Port 4 and Baud Rate 57600 or 4800, don't forget to enable GPS also in the settings
OR
In iGO8 at GPS settings select auto search at right bottom and enable GPS
POI:
I can't see POI in iGO8 even if i have in \content\POI:
If you have POI in the content with extension .kml, it wil not work because its an older version. The newer version of POI is with the extension .poi

iGO8 shortcut to the Touchflow3D Program list: make a shortcut of iGO8 to windows\start menu\programs and then you can see the icon there when adding a new shortcut in touchflow3D after choosing it:
Simply copy iGO8.exe, go to the folder in which you want to put the shortcut, activate the context menu with a longer press of the stylus on the screen and choose Paste as shortcut.
OR
You can create the shortcut on PC with an Active Sync connection.

Yes, Igo8 run very smoothly, but I found the battery does not last very long...

how much fps does it have while navigating? it seems that most vga devices have trouble with nearly all the navi software for smooth graphics. do you have any screenshots?
btw, battery is problem for every navi, but soon the 1100mah battery is available!!
How to check the fps?
Anyways, it runs more smooth here than with tomtom. Now I only have to find out how to get and sync the latest speed cams and it'll be perfect!

It running smooth without a problem, only i couldn't test how it works with 3D buildings, i will look when i'm going someday in Amsterdam to watch how well it works, but for now i don't have to complain about it.
I installed iGO8 at my Diamond but all I get is the splash screen then goes pack to previous screen....
Any advice?

The only issue is that it keeps changing my phone time to budapest.
I unchecked the auto time im igo and set the time to paris but it keeps comming back to budapest and changes the phone settings.
This is quite anoying....
i have been trying igo 8 on my diamond -
when the keyboard is displayed - i cannot press any letters - they are all "grey" - cannot press them - any ideas??

im writing from Hungary. I have an IGO8 8.0.0.41506, I made everything what you wrote but when i click to igo8.exe a warning message is coming: "Fatal error occured in main thread. Adress: 0x000b2754 Exception:0xc0000005
And thats the end . What can i do?

Its means or you installed an old version which is not working with Diamond or you're missing some files. Try to install from the beginning...

Did you deselected the Auto Time Correction GPS and Use Auto Time Zone? If yes then change now the Set Time Zone in Paris now.

yes did it, igo stays on Paris bt not the diamond.
In fact I noticed a weird thing, it is a s if the display changes but the time scal remains Paris.
I'll try to explaine.
When I quite IGO the go to the time parameters on the diamond, it shows budapest. If I select Paris and quite, it doesn't ask me to save, when I return It still shows budapest. Now If i reselect Budapest and quite, it asks me to save. Strange hein?

Strange, i had the same, but i fixed right now. In the Time settings change to +2 Minks and save it, then exit the Time settings. Enter again in the settings and change to Paris and save. Now it should works, although it worked for me.....

Finally! COD2 running in hardware acceleration good fps on diamond!!

i finally managed to run call of duty 2 using opengl es hardware accleration on my diamond
by default the cod2 installer auto detects your hardware and installs the software version of cod2 on ur diamond, however if u look inside the cab file you will find the files for the hardware-accelerated version

i extracted cod2_goforce, cod2_gles and libGLES_CM.dll to the installed game folder and it tried to run both of them and i got the usual "untrusted certificate..." error
however if u delete the libgles_cm.dll or replace it with ur diamond lebgles_cm.dll from the windows folder, cod2_goforce.exe will work!! fully with clean bilinear textures, the frame rate is also very good! and with the diamond pixel dense vga screen it looks anti aliased
i guess this should finally put to rest all doubts about the diamond 3d chip
what i dont understand is that cod2_gles didn't work it keeps giving "untrusted certificate" even after replacing the libgles_cm file
i think if someone figures out the difference between cod_goforce and cod2_gles we might get somewhere with the other opengles games
to run just copy the attached cod2_goforce.exe to the installed game folder and delete libgles_cm.dll if its in the folder, the game will run after a small pause, also make sure TF3d is disabled to avoid errors, i attached cod2_goforce demo and cod2_gles files for those who needs them

my experience with other titles
doomGles goforce version, siege, trailblazer and toy golf: didn't run
quake3ce: only the 1.1b arm version works at 1fps, ALL other versions didn't work even after deleting/replacing the libgles_cm file, the axim versions give "untrusted certificate error" I even tried the q3_flame version and it also gave "untrusted" error
cube, yeti 3d, solterra, enigmo, chopperfight, geo rally ex and virtual pool: "untrusted" error even if i tried deleting the libgles_cm file (if found)
quake mobile 1.2: "untrusted" error since it needs the libgles_cl file, i copied the diamond libgles_cm file and renamed to libgles_cl it boots but then gives the error "another copy is running"
THS2: requires libgles_cl, it runs in software
only two titles worked in accelerated opengl mode
COD2: after deleting libgles_cm, extracted cod2_cles still gives "untrusted error" while extracted cod2_goforce worked! very good fps, higher res and bilinear textures
Stuntcar Extreme: default version gives "untrusted error", it works with the x51v patch hires and clean at around 5fps
as i read on different forums, many of the titles above at least boot on the flame, while on the diamond they give "untrusted" error, we need to figure out what makes the above two titles boot especially the cod2_goforce since cod2_gles keeps giving untrusted error
please let me know if you had a different experience
I get a white screen for 2 secs and then nothing happens ... I have only the demo, could this be a reason?
by the way, libgles_cm.dll is in my windows directory and in the rom

you need to delete the libgles_cm file from the game folder, then it will call the diamond file from the windows folder
sometimes i needed to have a clean boot for it to work and tf3d disabled
the version i attached is the retail one, try extracting cod2_goforce from the demo cabfile

turned out the demo version has a different size
I've attached the demo goforce file
make sure to switch off TF3d it caused errors after i closed COD2 goforce

Which file does Gapi use? Is a different file used for landscape gapi?
I was surprised that duke nukem was actually running gapi on hyperdragon III, however it was in portrait. When I edited the .cfg for it to run in landscape, it starts up, but right when the game runs it experiences an error. Again, if I edit the cfg to run in portrait this wont happen, same graphics are being displayed... so what is the problem here?
Gapi is much better than rawframebuffer (or is it direct draw?). Direct draw you can see the frames chaning, it causes a split distortion on the screen everytime the image is refreshed (fps). The framerate is significantly worse using rawframebuffer (or direct draw?), about 19-23fps, while Gapi runs 40-50fps.
I'm gonna mess with the .cfg some more, but I'd really like to find out why gapi crashes in landscape..
I did it! I got duke nukem working landscape + gapi!
I read an article on microsoft.com that says it isnt possible to run gapi in landscape, that it will try to force portrait.
I started by making the screen size 240 x 240, and from there played with different numbers, I found out the height needs to be 320 and the width needs to be 240... in landscape mode. Normally it should be the other way around (240x320). I launched it and...it crashed again, so I decreased the height by one pixel (240x319) and it worked perfectly! aside from the tiny tiny white line in the bottom right corner which you only see in the menu, everything works great now. The framerate is actually about 30fps but it's smoothe and no sketchy image refreshing.
If anyone is interested I'll upload my cfg file... for you duke fans!
EDIT: I just got quake running, in portrait. I cant seem to get it to work in landscape cause I cant adjust the width and height of landscape (that I'm aware of). It appears to be an option (landscape=1) and it is defaulted 320x240. If I can get a hold of the developer and ask of him to change it to 319x240 or 240x319 it may work...

About quake, I know the source code is open (sure about the one of q3, less about q2 since I never dl it). But I dont know if the paramater you're looking for is in an enum somewhere in the code, or hidden in a grp file.

Just copy the .cfg to your duke directory and it will run in landscape. Also, you dont need to worry about launching it already in landscape or launching portrait, it doesn't matter, launch it any way you like and the controls shouldn't get messed up.
Next I'm trying to figure out why the Duke Nukem Atomic edition doesnt work...

What about those Midi files ?? What about music ??? <-- Nevermind that... doesn't matter what you put in the cfg file... timidity must be on /storage card/timidity, makes the game a little slower loading... after that you hardly feel anything.
Which rom are you using? this could be why my spacebar doesnt work. Are you using an AT&T Tilt or a different branded kaiser? I'm using the hyperdragon III October 31st rom.

So, what happens for me when I launch the atomic edition is it will start up, it shows the beginning splash screens, it even shows duke nukem Atomic Title, but then it says "loading" and right before it shows the game play in the background it crashes.
so spacebar actually worked with the .cfg I provided? Then it must have to do with the rom. Which rom are you using? I wonder if it's some other file in the directory that effects it... what else could be doing it..

I loaded up my old Pocket Quake v 0.62 and got it running in portrait mode only.
The game actually ran great on my old Pocket PC Phone Edition WM2003.
It's nice & speedy in portrait mode on my Tilt but I just don't want to play if its not landscape.

Actually a Hyperdragon itself!!! not the latest one.

What i DIDN'T get was those 40-50 fps...
always in the 20-30 (i can live with that... and i have BG music... so..)

I can't set it to Landscape... from the internal menus it crashes, and seting vid_mode "?" in autoexec.bat does nothing.

That's what I get too. There's got to be a way other than flashing back to WM6.0 - what vid_mode is it that changes the orientation?
I emailed John Carmack, I didn't expect he would have time to even answer with all the stuff going on at Armadillo Aerospace these days...
I've conversed with him before, from the earliest days way back when.
He's always been a gracious guy, and he did respond this time (quickly too!).
Here's what he said:
I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but since all the code in Quake is under the GPL, you can really "go to the source" and figure it out. I would expect that one of the open source projects based on the quake code is much more up to date with support for modern operating systems and hardware platforms.

Quake is kind of slow. and 240x120 so...
Quake 2 is unplayable.... pure and simple.... and also 240x120
Either someone remembers to start using the opengles or d3d libraries and restart porting the source... or no can do.

changing your tomtom splashcreen with ResHack

this is just a way for how to change your tomtom splash with your pda.
1 Open reshack
2 Make a copy of your file TomTom Navigator.exe for backup
3 drag and drop your TomTom Navigator.exe file on reshack
4 Expand \bitmap\120\1033
- here you will see the actual screen of your tomtom
5 Clic on menu, Action, Replace Bitmap, open file with new bitmap, choose a file 480*640, clic replace, close
6 Save you file
7 Replace it on your pda
Maybe some extra softwares can do this, but i did like that, and maybe some of you will think this process can be interresting for them.

and for user of tomtom resolution of 240*320 :
In my personnal issue i really believed that the POIs on a VGA screen are too littles, so with reshack you can also decide to delete the entry for hires, that mean you will have a tomtom with resolution 240*320 but for poi it's very more better to watch...Better results can be achieve if you do it with the tomtom qvga version for this one...
Edit 1 : changing the picture will also give you a smaller .exe file depend of your pic...in my case because i put a 240x320 bmp, it's not so big but enough to be said
Works like a charm, used it on my pda and replaced it with a nice pda and car related picture

igo8 stops working after mass storage mode (need softreset)

Hi, I noticed this one problem while using igo8 on my diamond.
it seems like I need to softreset after I connect my phone as mass storage to pc in ordr to use igo8 again.
it's probably something to do with igo's content being on the internal storage and that is being inaccessible during the mass storage mode.
is there any fix for it?
I don't think there's something that can be done. This happens to everyone so you're no exception. It's a known limitation.
well. thx it's been only 2 days since i got my phone and I'm learning new things from it. it was a big step up from Tmobile dash.

I found better solution.
I installed Garmin V5.00.20wp with canadaian map.~162MB
I felt the TOMTOM was bit too much as I had to install US and CANADA together that was 900mb

gamin survives Active sync and Mass storage mode.
and it takes up less space too.
I was able to fix the problem by doing the following
