upgraded radio - Palm Treo 750 ROM Development

so i now have unbranded, unlocked treo 750, but radio is 1.54.27.00 and i have read that the 1.54 series has had some problems(most post are from 2008), quite often my phone loses service and i have to reboot to get a signal back...i was looking to change radio, now using the cheetah unlocker, steps 2 and 3 will change the radio for me?...i already did the hard-spl when i upgraded to 6.1 so do i just go thru the same process again but do steps 2 and 3?( i assume it wont let me skip step 1 even though i have already done it?) does it give me a specific radio or will i have to supply one myself and if so which is a good radio, on TMO in USA...i have the 1.47.02 file, is that any good?

Yeah, I'm having the same problem with my radio, it takes forever to get service back if I lose it in a dead spot. My other phone will get it back imediately.

2.47.11 radio rom

If someone has posted this already then sorry, but i havent seen it here, just on another topic somewhere...
Anyway, I was browsing around this morning and came across a prodigy 2.47.11 radio rom, downloaded it and wouldnt update.. so i extracted the file from the installer and packaged it back up to work on my cingular 8125... And i have noticed a huge difference in the radio all day.. places i dropped doesnt seem to drop anymore... blah blah blah.. i uploaded it so you can try it for yourself..
This is the radio only.. flashing this will not erase your settings..
2.47.11 radio rom.rar
just installed it now, will test during the day...
Wow! It DOES seem better, at least it seems I see more bars after a few glasses of wine Well, my house is in the hills and the reception sucks, but it seems more robust after this. Will know more tomorrow morning on my way to the office....
Thanks!

ExtROM: 2.25.11.102
how does this compare to Cingular 2.25 radio?
Can't install it. It doesn't even start.
I have a G4 Wizard.
Seem like it has a higher build
Seem like a higher build number, guessing it's a newer rom then our cingular 2.25.11, interested in trying it out but would this in any chance brick my phone or do I need to CID unlock ...or it doesn't touch the bootloader part.
if it's safe to go without have to CID unlock or change setting and programs I'll give it a try. Please reponse back ASAP wanna try it too.
looks good! signal is better.
is this only for the G3 wizards as i have a G4 and would love to improve my radio ROM
is there a complete prodigy 2.47.11 rom (not only radio)?
Will this radio rom work on prophet?
Will this radio rom work on prophet?
Thank you.
Not updated ?
I've just applied this updated RADIO ROM.
Update procedure is succesfully completed but nothing is changed...
My device is still with Radio ROM V02.07.10 and ROM 2.18.7.3.
Do you have any idea what could be the problem ?
i updated this rom this morning and i got a mild improvement...
Just updated my phone to it. I get full bar at work anyway (less than 100 feet from a tower), so I'll check it out from home tonight. There's a couple of spots that it isn't really that great.
Thanks for posting it!
I flashed this new Radio this AM and it seems to be much more responsive compared to the Cingular 2.25. My office is in a tough cell coverage area. I have an external 4 ft. Yagi antanae hooked to an amplifier and wireless repeater inside my office. Cell coverage inside is usually pretty shakey. This Radio picked it up instantly and its strength changes quickly as I walk through an area where my wireless repeater wont reach.
i cant be much help on this, except i found it somewhere on this board, had to extract from the prodigy update utility(cause it originally wouldnt flash on my 8125), and put it into the no_id update utility, then flashed it on my phone yesterday am, noticed an improvement so i gave it to you guys... and thats about all i know about it...
i dont know if it will work for a G4, but all you would need to do is get the G4 update utility and throw the nk.nbf into a folder with it... i cant garuantee it will work, but if someone wants to try it there is the steps...
as far the comparison to the cingular 2.25.11 radio... in my testing i would say that this radio hands down beats the cingular radio
I flashed this one on a locked 8125 and it did install. Radio seems to work a little better will know later on today.

Old Radio Stack Won't Upgrade

[writing from work in a hurry, so excuse me for not having all my details in front of me]
I'm a long-time avid user/flasher of the Wizard who recently bought an old BA on eBay for my wife. First thing I did was download the xplode WM5 ROM and flash the sucker. Very nice and now up-to-date.
Call volumes sucked, so I checked her Radio version, and it was 1.02 or something ridiculously old. I tried to flash the newer 1.15 Radio Rom using the bootloader app that came with it (MAUUpdate something). I got a country code error, so I added the special line to the config file to cheat.
Now it starts the process and never gets past 0% on radio flash. Just hangs. And then some strange 114 error when it finally dies.
I've tried with the newest MaUpgradeUt_noID files I could find. I even tried the 1.13 Radio ROM with no change.
I even re-flashed to WM2003 and tried to flash just the Radio from there. Kept getting "wrong device" message or connection error or something. I tried multiple times in a row (one post suggested the first time will error but second time will work).
I did SIM unlock just in case (Cingular on Cingular so shouldn't have been a problem).
Any suggestions out there? I think I've tried everything!
And yes, I've read all posts and wiki's. (Usually I read only Wizard, but have extended my reading to cover the BA).
Have you tried downgraging to WM2003 then upgrading to Radio 1.15 then finally back to WM5?
I had upgraded my radio ROM when still on WM2003 and found no problems!

yes, I did. mentioned that above.
I get either country code error (or after correcting that per the wiki advice, I get long period of hang followed by an odd error 113. I think.
does device origin matter? my BA is from ebay and the getdeviceinfo.cab leaves me a blank result except model number and a few random numbers...
I take it that when everyone else flashed to WM5, they followed the simple Wiki instructions and everything went fine? I think I got some odd-ball sub-model that is resistant to Radio flash.
Downgrade Your BA to the WM2003SE, then unlock it with xda3_all_unlock-v1.6_138.exe tool (You can find it in the BA forum here with description how to use it) then try to flash the Radio ROM You want....And then You might upgrade to WM 5.x again if only You wish.
I've tried one of the other sim unlock apps already (successfully) without solving the problem (was tried on WM5). I'll try the order of downgrade, unlock, then upgrade and see if it works.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Jeremy how did it go? are you able to upgrade to the latest radio rom? I also have the same problem as you do. Do you mind telling me the steps if you somehow able to upgrade to latest rom?
this worked for me. after you flash to a new rom (like xplode's), do not take out the BA yet. flash to the new 1.15 radio rom. then you can do the no/yes/yes routine.

Flashing Radios

i have tried the SSPL and it works, i can flash the 3 roms i have found for the breeze
RUU_BREE100_1.13.251.2_1.06.00.10_QtekEUR_Ship_R3
RUU_BREE100_1.32.251.1_1.29.00.10_HTC
RUU_BREE100_1.34.251.1_1.38.00.10_HTCEUR_SHIP
but since i flashed the 1.38 radio rom without using this sspl. whenever i use the sspl i can only flash the rom not the radio. my phone is now stuck on the 1.38 radio which drops calls after about 30 mins and the battery life is really crap, i am on area where u get full 2g or 1 bar of 3g so its doing its trademark searching and killing the battery.
I have tried duttys tool with the radio extracted and put on the SD card and flashed but no joy.
my device is not SuperCID i just use the SSPL to bypass it.
anyone got any ideas how i can flash the 1.29 radio or for that fact any radio to phone instead of the rom?
i've read that many have tried 1.20 radio to solve a few problems but i have no idea how i can flash this. I have tried to make my own rom with the tools here but again they just flash the new OS living the radio 1.38.00.10. i am downloading RUU_Radinly_1.20.31.10.exe and will flash it if i knew how. SSPL just turns around and says invalid ID error 244. so its like the radio isn't designed for this device.
anyone got any idea ?
1.29 is even worse than 1.38... Missed calls in full GSM coverage (4 bars), horrible sound quality (either you or called party can't hear most of the conversation)... Don't even try it!
And concerning the problem not being able to flash new radio:
As I already wrote in this thread, flashing Radio ROM 1.29 (and above) also flashes new Radio Bootloader 0108 (different thing than Phone bootloader) which requires SPL 1.09 (or newer) to flash Radio ROMs.
Current SSPL for Breeze is based on some older SPL which, as you found out, isn't compatible. Until someone creates SSPL for Breeze based on SPL 1.09 or SPL 1.10, you're stuck just like me...
thanks very much for the post explaining it. i have read someone might make a new sspl with the new spl's in mind so as you said, we have to wait and i guess i will. i am however going to send my breeze back to HTC because of the constant dropping of calls whether it is 10seconds or 35 mins, it drops it without fail.

upgrade, missed a step.

well, it had been awhile since i upgraded my phone, since i havent been using it as much because the signal was too weak at home, so i switched phones. now i wanna switch back and forth as needed. so, i downloaded to the button rom, then upgraded to faria's 3.3. as you see, i missed a step. upgraded after buttons to something else. so, this is what i have now...
IPL 1.01
SPL 1.01
GSM 1.12.10.0
OS 3.3.0.0
i think i missed the step since finding the roms are harder since they've been pulled from the ftp, and rapidshare sucks if you dont have a premium account.
so, what i need to know is the best/easiest way to fix this. do i need to roll everything back and start over, or do i just need a certain rom to fix it. if there is a recommended one, can i get the full name so i can google for it. i'm not looking for someone to hold my hand, just let me know the file names so that i can find them.
thanks.
btw, my service is att in case it matters.
I believe you just need to flash an official ROM such as T-Mobiles 2.26 and it will upgrade your IPL/SPL for you and then you can flash whatever ROM you want to.
Yes, just upgrade to a ROM that is with IPL, SPL and Radio, or just get a updater that only have IPL, SPL and Radio then flash in bootloader mode.

[Q] Fido 3G internet loss - which RADIO/MOD will help me

Hello,
I'm having some difficulties figuring out which update route I have to go with so I don't brick this baby.
I'm currently on Fido, and about once/week (usually on Mondays) I loose my 3G. I have to call these guys and get them to reset my internet connection. It then comes back. I am assuming this is crap that's coming from the parent network - rogers. Of curse CSRs are not trained, and they don't know anything about the waiver, nor signing the waiver, and then when I try to sign the waiver online it doesnt recognize my IMEI.
My goal is to update to a version that will (hopefully) fix this, and if I can get new CyanogenMod while at it, then why not. I would like to get the newest stable version. Priority is to fix the 3G dropping, so If I have to go for older CyanongenMod then let it be. Having said that, please tell me what my best route is .
This phone was previously on rogers. It says "Rogers" on the back, but this is not a standard out of the box rogers phone setup. My understanding is the previous owner has rooted it.
ADP1
Radio: 2.22.19.26I
RA-dream-v1.6.2
HBOOT-1.33.2005 (DREA21000)
Also my current kernel version: 2.6.29-00479-g3c7df37 android-build @ apa26 #19
I read all the wikis and Im still confused on the kernel part.
If you have a genuine ADP1, then you MOST DEFINITELY DO NOT get 3G on robbers. I guarantee it -- totally impossible.
If you mean that you are losing your DATA connection (from 2G/EDGE), then I believe you.
I don't know where exactly you live, but if you live in OTTAWA, TORONTO, EDMONTON, CALGARY, VANCOUVER, or WHISTLER, then I STRONGLY suggest that you ditch robbers *IMMEDIATELY* and switch to Wind/Globalive.
1) $40/month (if you sign up by 24th of this month) for UNLIMITED calling to anywhere in Canada OR USA, and UNLIMITED DATA, with NO time of day or other insane restrictions,
2) A genuine ADP1 ***IS*** compatible with 3G on Wind,
3) No contracts,
4) Aren't you completely sick of those buggers yet?
5) According to an investigation by the COMPETITION BUREAU (that resulted in a multi-million dollar penalty being levied against robbers), everything that robbers has ever said about the quality of Wind's network ***IS A LIE***. Wind actually has a HIGHER quality of service than Robbers. FEWER dropped calls.
6) You ***ARE*** allowed to tether... specifically, they actually say so.
7) Last, but not least, Wind doesn't play IMEI and/or RADIO VERSION games with you.
So hopefully, you live under Wind coverage. I switched a year ago, and couldn't be happier.
You have two choices here sign the waiver and keep a 2.xx radio or flash a 3.xx radio. I would recommend the first choice if you can do it because the 2.xx radios are more stable. The 3.xx radios would lock up randomly for me. The waiver wouldn't work for me either. I had to call them (Rogers) and get a technician to enter it manually. Also, the latest 2.xx radios give you more ram and make your phone much faster.

If you really can't get that to work see this guide. It may be out of date so let me know if you have any questions.

It says "Rogers" on the back of the phone so it obviously isn't an ADP1. The custom ROM probably says that because that was the phone it was originally meant for.

beav_35 - are you a Fido or Rogers customer?
The big questions is - how do I get Rogers to do this for me? They tell me they cannot escalate to level 2 because I am not a Rogers customer.
Where as fido doesn't have a waiver online or anything, and they just tell me "Sorry, this is not a Fido phone, so we cannot guarantee compatibility, just keep calling once a week to do your network refresh"
I'm a Rogers customer.
I guess your only choice is to flash the radio that they want. See the guide I linked to before.
Just so its clear the process should go something like this:
1) from fastboot flash 3.22.26.17 radio then a "R" recovery
2) reboot into recovery and flash your ROM and kernel port

So I should flash one of the CM's? I was thinking of following this "Upgrade_Rogers_Dream_Radio" guide (I cant post a link, just google) but then it tells me that a Prerequisite is CM 4.2 and that part confuses me.
I originally wrote that guide but some people have changed it around and added that. I think it is trying to say that you can't use a ROM that doesn't have an EBI1 kernel available for it. What ROM you have doesn't make a difference for flashing the radio. You just need to have a kernel for your radio before you can use your phone (flash a kernel port ontop of your current ROM or a new ROM). Make sure you always do a wipe before flashing a new ROM.
