I have had a good hunt around but nothing sounds like this problem. Sorry in advance if its a stupid question or has been answered elsewhere.
I got given an AT&T Tilt by a friend. He told me the main speaker at the rear was bust and it needed a new one. I checked it out and got the service manual to see if there was a bad connection. Then I ordered a replacement speaker from Fleabay. I fitted the new speaker but it made no difference at all.
Basically I get clicking noises from the speaker at low volume and at high volume it sounds like the speaker is blown or highly distorted even though the volume is barely audible.
I just tried flashing a new Radio ROM but everything else is as I got it.
Currently it has on it...
ROM Ver: 3.57.502.2 WWE
ROM Date: 07/17/08
Radio Ver: 1.71.09.01
Protocol Ver: 25.75.40.02.eMo
Yes I am a Noob to this stuff. I have spent a couple of days looking for a solution to this. I almost hope I am making a rookie mistake and its a simple fault. If someone can point me in the right direction please.
Thanks,
Fangio.

10.No Sound from Speaker or Distorted sound
(1) Check “Sound & Notifications” Settings in the unit for Sound Enabling.
(2) Make sure it’s not MUTED.
(3) Try to re-flash the ROM code.
(4) Clean up the speaker connection side on MB if there is any contamination.
(5) Dismantle and Check whether the Speaker is properly installed (Orientation)
(6) Replace Speaker if necessary.
(7) Replace Main Board if necessary.
(8) Once the defective part has been identified, verify it again with the defective part whether the symptom
could be duplicated.
hope it helps
lol

THX Moderator, i posted on the wrong thread...!!!
I'll try with a ROM update and I'll inform.
THIS IS GETTING WIERD
getting ready to send my phone back
just flashed my phone back to rom 1.37.4xxx still had the static noise
flashed spl back to 1.37
noise has almost gone!!
also found this may be interesting ( about RF interferance)
http://www.htcwiki.com/thread/1578231/HTC+Diamond+voice+issues
going to try flashing a diffrent rom and then flashing the spl back to 1.37
ok the speaker still sucks
going to send it back for repair
Just got one of these diamonds, unlocked it, put dutty's rom on it etc. Now i have been using an orbit for the past year or so and obviously got used to the speaker sound which was loud and quite punchy.
But i find the speaker on the diamond very bright and tinny sounding. It seems like it needs to go louder as well, i know there are some modified audiopara3 files to up the sound level.
I've been trying tomtom today and because the female voice is bright anyway it sounds very bright indeed now. Also was getting lockups while navigating home today, may have to flash the 08 radio rom later.
I did compare my diamond to another one at work and it sounded exactly the same, so i know it's not my diamond at fault as such.
Just wondered why i don't see anyone else comment about this ?
Ta.....
Ofcourse we all commented mate.
Check this bro, this may help you to make your speaker gets louder.

I recommend you install the lighter boost cab.
yeh thanks i did just get that lighter boost one, so i have a bit more volume now, but tomtom is obviously still very tinny etc.
thanks anyway for the link.
hello, i have a mda2 from tmobile, same as himalaya, and i used to have sound, but now i do not, i took the device apart and everything looks good? any ideas what i could do, maybe dl a sound driver of some sort? (or maybe if its a hardware problem someone could tell me where to get a replacement speaker (its a little box with (2) metal spots + - where springs touch.
any ideas are welcome, i just upgraded from 2003 wm to wm 6.1 (but the sound was gone before...) it said before turn on bluetooth radio?
No sound?
Hello szalajko
I had a similar problem with my qtek 2020.
It stopped the sound, and I thought it was someting wrong with the software, but after some reading I discovered the last time I had the headphones connected it didn´t reset the 2.5 jack female, so the system "thought" it had the headphones on, so no sound.
I connected again and disconnected a few times and the miracle hapenned.
Say somethin if this helps.
Jorge
No Sound
Folks,
I had the same problem and want to give up last week.
But i found this post

and now everything OK
P.S. take caution
Can anyone help me my internal speaker doesn't work and when I make a call i can't hear anything but I have to put it on loudspeaker in order hear the other person anyone faced any problems as such...
I also have this problem.
Device: MDA Compact IV
ROM: Duttys Diam V4 WWE
Radio: 1.09.25.23
I get it occasionally, when i recieve or when i dial. It usually sorts out by ringing 150, then switching between speaker and internal rapidly a few times.
I tried switching between Internal Speaker and External Speaker rapidly but it didn't work... Does anyone else hve any other solutions
Does it not work occasionally or always?
If it always doesnt work maybe its defected and needs replacement.. Its no big deal
Yea I know but the problem is when I give it to the service center I am sure I'll get it back after a month oh boy I guess I'll hve to give it to service center then I don't c any other options.....
lol yeah I understand your pain.. If its still under warranty its the best thing to do. If not, try to see some tutorials of how to replace it yourself. If its simple enough, I'd say buy a new speaker yourself and replace it.
hi guy,

i have the same problem! i need to increase and decrease the volume with the button to hear something from the internal speaker!! i don' known if is an hardware problem because the speaker seems to work,i also tried several rom but with the same result! now i have "Gen.Y D2 R5.2" .
Any ideas are welcome!!
Hi this happened to me exactly. The earpiece speaker just would not work, so I couldnt listen to calls and had to use loud speaker (annoying). This is a hardware issue as the speaker is crappy. You will need to buy a new earpiece speaker. This is the one you need (damn cand post the link) its from gsm4world.us and then search htc diamond earpiece speaker at 7.99 dollars pretty cheap and they ship to UK.
The fitting is quite difficult but check google and youtube for instructions on dis assembly and you should cope. hope it works for you guys.

TKS for the info! I'll check to do it by my self!
did it
i have solved my problem with the internal speaker!!
Was an hardware problem (Thanks oneshot12), i replace by myself the earpiece speaker follow the videos on youtube, (just some problem with the power button, didn't make the contact) and now everythings works!!
My Topaz has just started giving me the exact same problem. I either have to use the speaker phone or the headphones to be able to make calls. Very frustrasting!
I'm sure the phone is still in its warranty period, but I bought it second hand and so don't have the exact date of when it was bought.
I guess I'll be trying those youtube videos. Can anyone suggest a link?
I need help. My tytn 2 's earpiece/speaker is dead suddenly. I just remember I receive a call in the morning which is still working fine. Then suddenly in the afternoon it's totally dead. I still can use the loud speaker or headphone, but the main primary speaker is dead.
I have perform several hardreset, and flashed the new radio and finally a new ROM.
Is there anything I can do ?
same problem occured a month before... does anybody know how to deal with that?
u still haven fix it? I tried everything, drain the batt, flash diff radio, flash the rom.....
It should be a hardware related problem
The problem is... earpiece speaker. I've opened the phone and found that one of speaker's legs is broken.
Oh no! Yeah my phone does the same thing now.
Flashed a new radio and rom....Hard and soft reseted...still no sound in call but only on speaker..
I was really hoping it was a software related issue. Does anyone else have experience with this?
It normaly is hardware issue. But that is no bigger problem. Just get a new earpiece for some $ in the web open your Kaiser and exchange them. It isn't a realy hard work but you should know some basic things about your Kaiser so that you don't do something wrong. There is information on how to change the earpiece in the service manuals of some devices. Maybe that helps too.
