Opera - SkyFire and Hotmail - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
I received this phone today and I am very very happy with it. But there are a few problems. I will list them up, sorry for the much questions. If you know any answer to this, please tell it. I will try them all!
1:
When I close Opera it is not fully closed, okay. But when I go into 'Advanced Task Manager' and I go to processes, I keep it pressed and get the option 'Kill'. But it will restart then, how can I avoid this? End Proces has the same problem.
2:
When I install SkyFire I can launch it directly after the installation, that works all fine but when I try to open it from the 'Start' menu it stucks at 'Preparing to load'. How do I get this fixed?
3:
I was trying to set up the email (Hotmail) through IMAP (with POP3 it deletes the emails of the Hotmail server, right?). But how do I do this? What should I fill in in the fields (yes I tried to Google, I also used the answer that was given in this forum). Nothing worked so far.
Regards and thanks,
NLCJ
EDIT:
SkyFire suddenly works, I don't know what I did to get it fixed.

Anyone using WM5, OWA and read receipts?

1. Has anyone tried OWA with any of the WM5 builds (Artz, Hari, Tuma, Logout, Ivan, etc.)? I can hit the start page and get a log in prompt, but after typing them in it usually goes into a credential prompting loop and eventually errors out with access denied. Occasionally I can get to the "main page", but as soon as I try to look at a message, it will error out. This worked great in WM2003[SE]. I really miss this because...
2. Our IT has set a "always request and respond to read receipts" policy in Outlook. The only [easy] way around this is to use OWA on the desktop and just not click the "read receipt requested" link. This doesn't seem possible in the Outlook E-mail app on the device because it always sends them without asking. Sometimes you don't want people to know you've read their email just yet.
3. Is there any way to request a read receipt in the Outlook E-mail application on the device? It syncs great every five minutes over GPRS, but it seems to ignore the "force read receipt request" policy in Outlook on the desktop when I send anything. So, is there any way to set that on email originating from the device? Sometimes it is nice to know when people have read your email.
P.S. I haven't tried changing the browser agent for the OWA problem. Maybe I'll try that...
Thanks from someone greatly enjoying Hari's 1.3.2,
sbl

Have logged in to google mail on desktop pc and changed my password to elimate password name problems but still no joy.
ANY IDEA GUYS??? im stumped.
p.s obviousli i have delted acount on numeros occasions and rsoft reset then rre added account and used auto detection account setup and done it the manual way.

I had the same problem and this is the only way i could solved it...
Thanks guys but i just sorted it.
IF anyone has this problem then this is what you must do . Login to your google mail from a desktop or laptop and enter your settings.
click configure outlook (even though your not using outlook ) then there a common issues tab near the top of the screen.
The first one in the list is "Repeatedly prompted for your username and password or 'invalid credentials' error."
To sort this you must hit the " Clear the captcha "tab .
Then connect via you phone wirelessly abd do the same .
(personally i didnt ave to do it on my phone as it cleared the problem straight away) but it does say to do this on the device your having trouble logging in on .
Definitely sorted it as i have done nothing else that could take credit for it working and it hasnt been working for ages .
cheers hope this helps

I'm in my settings in Gmail, and I'm in the common issues, but I can't seem to find the "Repeatedly prompted for your username and password or 'invalid credentials' error."
Do it from your pc . log into gmail and up top right hit settings. then click pop /imap forwarding then under each section there is an underlined configure client or configure outlook tab. if your in the section where you switch on pop and imap your in the right place.

Thanks for the info, I found the configure outlook, but I can't find the problem in the "common issues"
What do you mean by "Clear the captcha" tab? do you mean cache?
when you have clicked configure instructions and the next screen comes up click outlook express.another screen comes up and fourth tab along it says common errors. click that then click first in the list which is
Repeatedly prompted for your username and password or 'invalid credentials' error.
A little drop down appears with a tab to clear captcha. click that let it do its thing . should do the trick for ya

Sorry mate, I've done it on my phone also... delete captcha, resetted my gmail account, everything. Still get the white screen with google in upper left corner.
But I'm glad it worked for you
Hello sonnybravo
After reading this thread I thought I'd sign in to my gmail account (I don't use it much, but thought it would be a useful backup to my pop when I'm out and about). Anyway, I get the same issue as you; the blank white screen with 'Google' in the top left hand corner.
Not exactly an emergency for me, but if you do get to the bottom of it, I'd appreciate a shout.

Problems accessing iGoogle and gmail on Opera browser

Hello, since a couple of days i've been experiencing problems using iGoogle on my opera browser... The problems started after upgrading my phone from 1.37 rom to 1.93, but they're probably unrelated to the rom.
I can access the google page, but after entering my email and password to login to iGoogle or gmail something strange happens: I am directed to a completely blank page, with 1 word in the top-left of the page "Google". Nothing else. Also, a small icon of a lock appears in the address bar. The address bar displays an url starting with https://.
One time i got an error message saying i had cookies disabled, but when I checked in the Opera settings it was enabled, and i never changed this... so this appears to be a problem with Opera not allowing cookies, since google wants to place a cookie when you log in.
Does someone recognize my problem and know how to solve it?
Some other people have the same problem, see here.
I have the same problem. It started a couple of days ago, and I didn't change any settings. This was before I updated to the 1.93 rom, so I should think it's a problem on googles side, and not with the phone.
I'm still able to access gmail with Internet Explorer (but the light version for mobile phones).
i sorted mine out .solution here

It's a different problem to the one you had coopigeon, and the solution that worked for you doesn't help here.
I think omnivore and jaeger are on the right track that it's an Opera issue in how it's interacting with the gmail servers, perhaps relating to 1.93, or some new settings google are now using??!
It used to work or me, and now it's not working for me (after I upgraded to 1.93) so I'm stuck to using IE for e-mail checking
Yes it's different, because I use a mail account set on IMAP for gmail and that works perfectly... I don't even want to use the browser gmail, cause the WinMobile account stuff is good enough for me.
The problem is indeed related to the way the Opera browser interacts with the google page. I have now tried something:
I typed the entire url in my desktop browser... and voila, there i was on iGoogle. I guess my new diamond is not as shiny as my old desktop pc ;-)
The long url i get when i try to log in on starts with https, which means it's a secure connection, and apparantly Opera can't handle it. Either placing cookies is disabled in the software (although the settings say different), or the browser somehow can't redirect from the https secure page, to the normal http page.
Are there programmers here who can look into this? You'd be a great help, cause I'm addicted to my iGoogle with 10 different news-sites! RSS feeds don't even come close...

www.hotmail.com on Diamond

I use my hotmail all the time, and have been using it on my Diamond for the last 4 months successfully.
Yesterday I logged into Hotmail on my PC and I got a message about Hotmail has changed... better layout etc - but since this I can't get it to work on my Diamond.
I go to www.hotmail.com and then enter my user and password. I get the inbox screen, but it never fully loads (the green bar is about 1/3rd of the way). I can see my new messages in the inbox, but if I click on them nothing happens. Can someone else try this and tell me if its just coincidently collided with my update to the new Dutty 2.8 ROM - or have Microsoft added Flash content into the Hotmail page or something?
I've also tried Opera Mini - which is exactly the same making me think its not my Dutty ROM.
I'll be a bit miffed if I can't check my Hotmail anymore on my Diamond, as its one of the main things I need an 'internet' phone for.
Right... I've now set up the Windows Live application - so that my Hotmail comes into my Outlook. It seems to work well, but when I do a Send/Recieve from within Outlook it connects via my GPRS / 3G rather than my Wi-Fi (which is connected at the time).
If I do a sync from within the Windows Live app, it syncs by Wi-Fi.
Its a bit annoying as I just got a message with a 2mb attachment. I try to open it, and even though I'm connected by Wi-Fi, it still tries to downlaod the attachment by GPRS!
I've looked through all the settings, but can't see anything? Any ideas?
I've just tried it and got similar results; I got the "we've changed the design a bit" message then my inbox loaded up fine, but I could click on any of my email messages. It was like the page just wasn't registering the clicks at all.
It's not a complete killer for you though as you can access your Hotmail inbox using the Windows Live application on the Diamond which, as I understand it, will skip the web interface entirely.
EDIT: Sorry dude, I was still typing when you made your second post so I didn't notice that you'd already found the Windows Live app. I don't use it myself so can't offer any help with the issues you're having there.

Thanks for trying it. I don't know what they've done in their changes, but its pretty annoying!
I'm probably better using the Windows Live program anyway as it will be quicker anyway. Its just annoying that it wants to connect to GPRS instead of using my Wi-Fi!
made a post in the general section as it seems to affect other WMs aswell?

Annoying Email problem after hard reset

I recently had to hard reset my phone (after fiddling with the new Manilla version posted elsewhere on the forum) and restored my settings from a backup.
Since then I've been finding annoying little differences in email behaviour:-
1. In the menu, the send/receive option is permanently greyed out.
2. When I select to download the rest of a message (I have it set to headers only) instead of downloading immediately I get a message saying it will download next time I send/receive.
I used to have push email set up and working fine with our exchange server, so now I'm baffled. I have to keep popping into Activesync and hitting "sync" all the time. The ActiveSync options all look absolutely fine, as do all the Outlook options.
Where should I be looking to change this behaviour?
Kind regards
Dave
Interesting, this problem went away completely after flashing the new HTC ROM update. You live and learn
