Remote desktop (weird issue, s an i key don't work) - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

Hi,
I have the strangest thing on my HTC touch pro when using remote desktop.
This is my set up:
->ZaTunnel to connect to an ssh server within the local network at my workplace, with the port 3389 forwarding to a remote desktop enabled windows pc at my workplace (lp 3389; IP/URL: "Hostname"; rp 3389)
->WM6 Remote desktop connects to localhost with the username and password of "Hostname" at my workplace
This seems to work perfectly, I can see the desktop of "Hostname", with the only problem that my s-key and i-key don't seem to work, which is really annoying. They still work on my mobile, but not within the remote desktop session.
Any ideas?
My ROM (if needed):5.05.404.1 NLD
WM6 Remote Desktop I got from https://www.kckenterprises.com/WM6RDP.cab

i also get the same thing...I'm not sure why...and numlock On and Off everytime I type with the onboard keyboard..so its hard to enter other numbers (or it does not enter at all) besides the number 1.

as a temp work around you could always use windows on screen keyboard, it is hiding under accessories--> accessibility options.

Happens to me too, although on a different device (HTC Kovsky aka Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1). Backspace key doesn't work either

i can't seem to find the accessories -> accessibility option?

Layzieguy, what ice_coffee is saying is the on screen keyboard of the (windows xp) remote computer you're connected to. This you can find in Start > All Programs > Accessoires > accessibility options > "On-screen keyboard". This is indeed a workaround, but it's a pitty we can't fully use our quite descent hardware keyboard on the touch pro and xperia apparently.
So, just to make sure, you guys also use ZaTunnel in combination with WM6 Remote Desktop? Just so we have an idea where the problem lies.

Can anybody help a nooby:
when I remote desktop into XP, I just can't see most of the screen, even if I set my XP desktop to lowest avail res (600x800). Shouldn't I have scroll bars on my Fuze Remote Desktop app?

OK, that's quite strange actually, you shoul at least have scrollbars.
What I see, is most of the desktop, automatically on a VGA resolution, with scrollbars. When I put this on fullscreen I can see the complete desktop without problems, so now we have a second problem...

angelofhope, oh on your actual windows desktop...I guess you could use that..but oh wells..it works all good but just that...
markmensch, did you try the options before you log on?

WM6 remote desktop - set display resolution

Hi there,
i have installed Finster869's WM6_RemoteDesktop.cab, which is available somewhere in the forum here.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to set some advanced options, which are normally shown in the regular remote desktop application for Windows Desktop OS's?
- Display: Remote Desktop Size
- Experience (Desktop background, Menu animation, themes)
Thanks
Chris
I'm curious how to set these too. 640x480 seems to get forced when I connect, making Outlook unusable.
Yeah, me too. There's a file default.rdp where you can amend the value of the resolution but somehow it doesnt take effect.
I end up using VNC Viewer though.
Hi, if there's just another Remote Desktop Client allowing to fit my needs - I'd use it.
What are the best Clients (also commercial)? Where can I get that VNC Viewer?

Got another question though - Is it possible to connect to a WM2003 server console through Finster869's RDP client?
Logmein
Another option is logmein free. They have a plugin for WM that works on the Kaiser I have from ATT. Allows me to set resloution, screen size, etc, and it's free.
im too looking for a way to get remote desktop mobile to set a custom resolution
because in small resolution on wm6 rdm it just hard for me to navigate stuff.
can someone find a hack for this please.. dear hackers out there thanks.
Need a little help here....i've 4 computers in the house and it's all running VNC Server Enterprise Edition 4.2.2. I've downloaded VNC Viewer from the link above and run it on my Kaiser but when try to connect, it says "Unable to connect to the specified server!". I'm not sure what to set as i'm just bad with these network stuff.
Assuming i want to connect to my computer A name "Desktop". I would assume i just input the name Desktop to "Server" in the program and put in the password right? Or am i just so lost
Hope somebody can kindly guide me on this. Appreciate it.
Anybody? Would love to get it working in my TyTN II & i have up to 4 computers to remote into
Are you trying to get into them from the Internet or are you on your WiFi network?
If you are on your WiFi you will need to know the IP address of the machine you are connecting to unless you have DNS setup internally. Not sure if WM6 by default will detect Windows names.
If you are coming from the Internet then you will need to port forward your to each of your machines.
Guys, as usual, Wiki is your best friend. Do search it before asking - I've answered almost all the questions asked in this thread in the Remote Desktop Access Bible at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Access your desktop PC from your Pocket PC!
To make it short, in the Comparison Chart ( http://www.winmobiletech.com/122006PPCPCRemoteControl/PPC2PCRemoteRoundupTable.htm ), it's the "Resolution, zoom, color" group that you must check out; most importantly, the first ("Remote desktop resolution?") and the fifth ("Remote desktop resolution settable?") row. The latter even shows how you can actively change the resolution from the client.

Well....i would want to get connected via Home WiFi first. All the 4 computers are connected to the same router. I've tried putting in the computer IP address (ie: 192.168.1.101::5900) but it still says not able to connect. the ::5900 seem to be added in on it's own.
Where to download the remote desktop cab???

1, welcome to XDA-Devs
2, you mean is the address, your name / password saved? All of them, as is also explained in the chart of the Bible (did you check it out?????), in the "Login: l/p credentials definable, used (with RDP clients) and remembered? – an advantage particularly with RDP-based clients" and the "Server IP’s remembered?".
Please DO spend some time reading these Bibles / charts before asking questions!
no, sorry for the bad english. I mean, what about the security of the connection. Via PC i use a ipsec connection. When I use a normal connection it is possible to trace my login data and to get access to my server for other people.

RDP is a safe protocol - no cleartext passwords are communicated. BTW, you can also run RDP over a VPN connection to maximize safety.

Possible to remote desktop 2 tilts ?

Is it possible to connect 2 tilts via remote desktop that are not close together ?
Directly? Not that I'm aware of - however if you can remote to a PC that the Tilt is connected to, you can run the remote view software and see what's going on on the Tilt on the remote PC screen.
Look into a free software called Hamachi - it's a nice virtual networking tool. They make it for Windows Mobile as well as Mac and PC. I can remote desktop into my PC from my phone, never tried vice-versa. I have no idea if they have a remote desktop server for WiMo, but if they do Hamachi will allow you to be on a virtual network.
Hamachi is a VPN product of www.Logmein.com , which is what I think you were referring to. Logmein has a free version to remote into your PC from a WinMo device, but does not control a WinMo device. I thought I saw something like that though on Gizmodo during CES try searching there.
Pocket Controller Professional can connect to your PPC from your desktop via 3G or WIFI. It shows the actual screen on your desktop & is pretty slick. It takes a bit of work getting it going through the 3G/Edge/Gprs Connection though. Also, it doesn't allow for file transfer. Only controlling/viewing.

Password Manager with Sync?

Can anyone recommend a secure password manager for my kaiser that will;
1) sync via Windows Mobile Device center to a desktop companion, and
2) work with Vista.
I have for years used SplashID however it does not play well with this combo. I am finding having to manually initiate syncs with the RAPI Sync version to be a pain.
E-wallet. Has it's own sync, but uses the activesync connection to update the Kaiser. You can set up the E-wallet desktop companion to sync whenever you connect.
Handango.com
SPB Wallet is also a nice one!
I've tested many of those wallet applications and I like eWallet by Iliumsoft most. Specially the future development on this wallet seems to be the most professional. You can try it out: www.iliumsoft.com
Software for the PC:
http://keepass.info/
Software for the Pocket PC:
http://keepasssd.sourceforge.net/
Thanks Fella's. That will give me a few to try out.
Secret!
Secret! works very well! Secret! Desktop 5.1 works well on Windows Vista now (testet with Device Center 6.1)
see http://www.linkesoft.com/secret/
Does splashid not work then? I too have used it for years, on an iPAQ PDA. Have just got a TyTN II and was going to transfer it onto it. However, I have not used my iPAQ for a year or so now (been using a Nokia N73), and have also upgraded to vista in that time. My version of splashid is probably well out of date too.
I use AI RoboForm. Works good for me.

Here's another vote for the KeePass combination. I use this myself.
Secret by linke soft
all these password managers have one flaw imho: they focus more on form than on function. all these icons and stuff... at least i do not need that.
http://www.linkesoft.com/
offers a very "non shiny" yet very functional password manager with nice "small" yet helpful features:
data entering in txt-style, desk top application available (no icons and stuff)
automatic copy and paste
TAN or OTP management (at least interesting for german online banking)
collapsing paragraphs for better overview
read-only-mode for preventing accidental overwriting
easy backup: all in one file
i think, that is all you need to have!

Remote Desktop your WM6?

I remember way back when, there was a way to remote desktop your PocketPC... does this app exist for WM6?
try avvenu or logmein or gotomypc, etc
Maybe I was not clear... I want to control my WM6 desktop from my PC.
If I read your post correctly, I believe you are asking to control the device (PPC) from your desktop, correct?
If so try Soti Mobicontrol.
usually people want to control desktops by mobile devices
SOTI Pocket Controller

Pocket Controller will not allow for Mobile Remote Control. Your device has to be connected via wifi or USB.
The Mobicontrol product allows you to control remotely via 3G network connection.
I simply use XP's builtin Remote Desktop.
Go to P1Tater's download page.
Then go to Cabs ==> DK's Cabs ==> MSRemoteDesktopMobile.cab
Download and install the cab an configure your computer to enable Remote Desktop.
EDIT: Post not relevant
EDIT: Sorry, was a bit too fast. I use SOTI Pocket controller
Strangelove how do you configure XP for RD connection? I have no clue did a google search but got lost when they mentioned IP's and such.
Right button on "My Computer" > properties > tab " remote" >check on " Allow user connect remotely..." (if you wish, you can select a user, but administrator will do)
Make sure that you forward the following port "3389" to your computer (internal IP) in your router. Go to http://mijnip.com/ and you will find your external IP.
Now you can connect remotely.
for debug try to connect to your computer internally (local network), then you know the firewall is not blocking.
But for the easy stuff, try www.logmein.com, its free and works great! anywhere anyplace

So, you read the original question well then.....
Thanks everyone. Funny only 50% of the people that read this thread understood the question.
I do not want to control my PC... I want to control my WM6 from my PC.
So looks like the choices are:
mymobiler
SOTI Pocket Controller
Soti Mobicontrol
I'm trying mymobiler since it is free.

Connect via WIFI? or GPRS?
I connect via WiFi.
I use RescoExplorer to check Network connection and can connect without problems to Shared Folders.
Are there any WiFi configurations I must change?
Can nobody help?
I was having the same problem, but now I have found the answer. The Remote Desktop Mobile application does NOT have Network Level Authentication. In the Remote Settings on my laptop (the computer I was connecting to), I had it set to only allow connections with Network Level Authentication. Now I've set it to allow any connection (less secure, mind), and the RDP Mobile works!
To change it (in Vista):
Open up the System page
Click on Remote Settings in the left-hand menu strip
Select the option to allow connections from any version of remote desktop
Click Apply / OK
It should work now Though if anyone knows how to get it into landscape view... ?
Landscape view...
Yep, depending on how your ROM is setup or if you have that 'gyrator' program. You'll need to make your phone landscape before opening remote desktop (or at the connection screen). If your phone doesn't automatically turn landscape with Remote Desktop then manually set it to remote desktop under system settings before using Remote Desktop... it works!
