Hi all,
My Kaiser (Vodafone 1615) has developed a problem with the standard Windows Messaging application. It basically won't run at all. When I click on the Messaging application in the Today screen, nothing happens. When I choose Messaging from the Start menu, nothing happens.
A quick bit of history: for several months I've had it set up for connecting to our work Exchange server, so email/calendar/contacts/tasks would get pushed down to the device. I also had IMAP configured to access my gmail account. I would sync calendar/contacts/tasks/notes/files to my home computer (Windows Mobile Device Centre on Vista), and sync notes only to my work laptop (ActiveSync 4.5 on WinXP). It was all working beautifully.
Then, a few days ago I connected my Kaiser to my work laptop and I got error 0x80004005 when it tried to connect to the Exchange server. Since then, I have been unable to access the Messaging application on my Kaiser. I've found quite a few references online to this error code, but nothing that seems particularly useful.
Of course, I've done a soft-reset as well as taken the battery out to do a cold-boot, but to no avail. I suspect that if I were to do a hard-reset then I could get it working again, but I've hesitated so far to do that because I'd have to re-install all my other apps which would take some time, so I'm hoping someone here can help me out!
Maybe this is the opportunity to try out one WinMo 6.1...
Thanks in advance!

Yes, there is a Messaging shortcut in both the Windows and Start Menu folders. It points to "tmail.exe", which exists in the Windows folder. When I try to open tmail.exe directly in File Explorer, nothing happens...

Looks like I am out of ideas. Do u use HTC HOME? If yes, what happens when u hit one of the icons(where it counts your received messages, mails, ...)?
If this is not working, then u should install some sms application and use it instead of the default one.

Yes, I use HTC Home, and I get the same behaviour (i.e. nothing happens) when I click on the two buttons where it counts the number of messages I have.
I'm really thinking I'm going to have to do a hard reset to get this working again unless anyone else has any ideas...
I know there are a few options out there for WM and Mac syncing, but need to know which ones work reliably with the Diamond for Calendars, Contacts. Pics, music and video would be good too.
Is The Missing Sync the best to get in this respect and has anyone tested with the Diamond ?
cheers in advance.
MissingSync works for me very well...
Cool thanks. Needed to know before buying it. New to the whole WM thing and getting my Diamond Weds with luck.
If anyone has a Diamond and a MacBook Pro, can you let me know if the Internet Sharing with PAN Bluetooth works and is reliable?
My current Hermes has a bad latency issue which seems to affect a lot of WM devices when tethered with the MacBook Pro / Airs.
Thanks
Aidan
Will give it a go later in the week if I get my Diamond ok on Weds. Mind you, will be fun being a new WM user trying to get it to work ;-)
Its a feature I'd like to be able to use.
It works well, still a bit slow tho, tried it the other day for fun.
You can go online alrite, dunno if it's where i was sitting but hte connection was slow
Any chance of a little tutorial chap ?
Could never get my Nokia N95 to work correctly.
Try it !!
Syncmate.
I use Sync Mate and its pretty good.
Will give it a go too.
Thanks.
Been having real issues with both SyncMate and Missing Sync.
Both do not sync correctly... I usually sync just one group out of Address Book (not the whole thing) and keep that up to date. 1st time I sync it works, subsequent times it insists on syncing all my contacts.
Calendar is also a bit flakey.
Running Mac OS X 10.5.4
Mark Space do not seem to warrant any pre sales support either so are of no help at all. Been waiting 3 days for a reply to my questions
Missing Sync does not work well.
Pictures of contacts are partly corrupt.
TF3D starts new, if i add a new favorite with some contacts.
Then i must delete the picture from this contact and add a new one, then TF3d will work.
(OSX10.5, Missing Sync 4.03, MacBook)
Hi, everytime i sync with missing sync i double my contacts anyone knows why?

First time, i sync the PDA with Missing Sync, in the options i switch on the button "MAC overwrites PDA". Then sync, then switch off the button and sync again. So it works at mine.

I am using Missing Sync WM 4.0.3 with Mac OS 10.5.4 and it is working fine but I have no picture attached to the contacts.
The first-time sync procedure I usually use is the following:
- launch iSync from the "Application" folder;
- reset the sync history in the iSync > Preferences menu;
- close iSync;
- launch Missing Sync WM;
- for each syncing plugin you need to use, select "Mac overrides Device", click "Debugging options" and then "Reset sync history";
- logout from your user session and login back again;
- connect your device as explained in the Missing Sync manual;
- enable detailed logging in Missing Sync preferences and display the log;
... then be very very careful ;-)
* click the "Sync" button at the top or at the bottom of the main Missing Sync window.
* some of the items selected for syncing will sync and some will not (look at the log during the syncing process). *Disable* the "Mac overrides Device" options for the successfully synced items. Repeat the two stared "*" steps until all the item are successfully synced...
- further synchronizations should run flawlessly.
Hope this helps... (be patient and good luck ;-)
[You may also want to sync a second Mac with your device but the procedure is a bit different and a bit more complex.]
mbp and missing sync works very well
correction !!!
i just tried, than i even bought syncmate, its far better, and nicer than pocketmac or missing sync ( wich i used for years, so i absolutely recommend syncmate now, wonderful !!
syncmate is great. It does what it is suppose to do (I've only tried contacts).
I've used only USB sync don't know if WIFI works.
Syncmate is also working for e, strangely enough only via the Wifi - Sync option, not via the USB cable (but i prefer the wireless link anyways).
You should be aware, that you have to install the syncmate - driver on your phone, or no connection will be possible
Well guys, I have tried to search over the forum, and read the wiki, yet I can't see any related topics, thus, I post here...
My problem is,
I have setup the hotmail account by following the steps in window live, in fact, it is functioning quite well except 1 thing, my device doesn't notify me when there is any new mail even though I have the sync. option set to "when item arrive", time range is "automatic". Plus I have assigned a sound effect for "New email" in Sound Settings.
My device currently running 1.37 CHT ROM.
Hope someone could help on this.
Thanks in advance.
Well.. anyone has the same problem?
I've got the same problem. It's worked once or twice, but the majority of the time it just doesn't sync. I've tried a couple of things, but nothing that works consistently.
Seems to work if I'm logged into messenger, but I shouldn't need to be logged in all the time...
Is it a T-Mobile / MDA Compact IV thing or have I just not set up the phone right? (In the Comm Mgr, Microsoft Direct Push is greyed out and says it needs to be configured - is this something different, for maybe using Exchange?)
Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks
I have the same problem....this really sucks, and i might have to sell my diamond again..
I have the same problem. Anyone with a solution please?

how do i transfer my contacts that are now in "Windows contacts" to my Diamond ?
- also, appearntly i can't do anything with my vista, stuff just won't work, it won't sync (or i don't know how) any one has experience with this ?
I think im gonna go back to my iphone this phone is driving me crazy it's too complicated for a phone and it's annoying on top of all.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry for my english, but I have the contacts sicronized with vista and XP my 2 notebooks.
For this I user the owners manual and resolve the problem. I dont remember how because i dont have problems. I change many times the room, and syncorized again without problems.
Carlos
but how do u sync ? using what software ? i see the device it says: connect in the mobile device center but there is no options there to choose what to do just shows that its connected.
and when i try to flash a rom it says im not synced
As far as I know (and from a quick Google search), it's not possible to sync contacts from Windows Contacts. Only Outlook's contacts are supported.
Wouldn't it be easier to sync your contacts via your Windows Live Messenger or Outlook? I have my contacts stored in my messenger contact list and when I sync it with Windows Live the same information is synced to my contacts.
But i can't sync at all, I don't have active sync or anyway to choose my device and click sync it ! .. ?

Well then the first step would be to get ActiveSync. It's a free download from Microsoft (remember if you have Windows Vista or 7, get Windows Mobile Device Center instead).
The problem then is the fact that you don't have Outlook so you won't be able to sync anything. As VerusAmos said above, the best option if you don't have Outlook is to use the Windows Live contact sync. Of course, I'm not sure how this will help if you have all your contacts in Windows Contacts format.
It does seem pretty stupid to me that MS would just ignore people who don't have Outlook.
Searched all through the One forum without success so I am thinking I have a bad HTC One.
I am trying to Sync MS Outlook contacts to the One.
Downloaded the HTC Sync manager and followed the instructions, no go.
Spent over 1 hour with HTC support this morning and result is that I should turn on "usb debugging" and re- install HTC Sync Manager.
Managed to turn on "USB Debugging" but still no sync of contacts.
This cannot be a known issue as there are no posts on this forum about this so has anyone out there got any suggestions?
My old HTC Touch HD2 is now too far gone so I do need to resolve this even if it means "backing" the HTC One and choosing another phone.
Hope someone can point me in the right direction.
Regards to all.
I think you are trying to hard
for me, I added my email address using the Exchange active sync option and the contacts all dropped in.......
Is your screen locked when trying to sync?
Do other things sync?
Are you saving your contacts locally in outlook? or are they synced via and online account?
Which version of office are you using?
I'm installing office now to see if I can sync contacts.

I was just able to successfully sync a contact from outlook to the htc one. I had trouble getting the sync manager to recognize my device but after that it was a breeze. I don't mind helping you. Does the sync manager recognize your device?

I do not know what is going wrong with my phone.
I am using Win7 OS with Office 2010, bog standard single user setup, Outlook is default for everything.
I got a follow up from very helpful HTC support.
Basically uninstalled evrything, deleted all HTC from Hard Drive, Hard Reset to phone and re-install everything with Kaspersky turned off.
Same result, HTC Sync loads and sets up OK, Phone connects OK, USB Debugging is ON, Sync Outlook Contacts and it zooms from 1% to 100% in seconds and nothing appears on phone.
Everything goes like clockwork except no transfer of sync for Contacts, Calendar or Bookmarks.
Maybe I am looking in the wrong place?
I go to "People" and look for my contacts there, is that correct?
Should I be configuring anything else?
Thanks for your attention, it is really appreciated.
Best Regards

Maybe I am 'trying too hard', but if it's not working I really do not know any other route other than to try harder.
Get what I mean?

To find my contact I went to The dialer swiped right to "contacts" and the contact was listed there. Be sure to check in the upper left corner that the all the sources in the phone book are checked.
In the HTC sync manager Try turning off sync for everything accept for "People". Then click settings and change the "Sync all contacts from" option to outlook. Then sync. Then afterwards try searching for the contact and let me know what happens.

Well that did the trick!
When you suggested that I only sync "People" I was about to reply and say I cannot select what to sync when I noticed that some Goon had not ticked any of the boxes..... errr.. hmmm.. well lets not dwell on this.
In my (weak) defence I thought the boxes were "greyed out" and never even tried to tick them. Cannot think of anything else to explain this other than being a complete nit-wit.
Ticked the box and everything worked as you knew it would.
Thanks for your help, very much appreciated, I will now go a sit in a dark cupboard for a few days.
Regards.
No worries, if you check some of my posts. I'm sure I've done some similar things.
I'm just glad I was able to help and you didn't get rid of your phone! Have a good one.
HTC syncing not obvious--thanks for your post

in response to the comment by "technoweary" apologizing that he/she missed selecting some options, I do not think it was obvious or intuitive at all how this works. I just followed the directions and got it to work (thanks to Kelbizzle(!)). In the "more" settings view, with 'people' 'calendar' 'bookmark' sections, there is a sync button at the bottom (two semicircular arrows chasing each other around), and you can click on that all day long and think it's doing something useful--what usability genius left it there, and also thought it better to force the user to click into the next screen ('people') and force the user to activate the sync there? But it isn't until you follow the directions that Kelbizzle provided, that it actually works. This is a very idiosyncratic issue with the HTC interface, and I, too, greatly appreciate the tip provided here.
I've spent several hours tonight trying to figure out how to sync both music and outlook to my phone, and you practically need a PhD and a lot of random clicks to get it to work. I actually had to install HTC sync manager from the HTC One before it would do any sync'ing at all.
