Hi,
with the hidden softreset button and the need to pull off the back so slippy ;-) , i tried an old soft that i was using with my kaiser:
psShutXp , google search ..
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280010
the darkside it was a little tiny for the Diamond2's big screen,
but there is vga version:
developper:
http://ppcsoft.narod.ru/english/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1033538&postcount=2
skin's:
http://ppcsoft.narod.ru/english/users_skins.htm
but if i try to replace the skins in the /program files/psshutxp
folder (two gif's) it doesnt change anything
EDIT: i figured it out, some skins spelling were incorrect
extract from the author manual
For VGA version, 3 gif's files in a skin.zip:
psshutxp_skin_vga.gif - checkmark (24x24);
psshutxp_skin_rus_vga.gif - russian dialog (440x280);
psshutxp_skin_eng_vga.gif - english dialog.
so the VGA black spider skin i chose
http://ppcsoft.narod.ru/english/vga_skins.htm
had
psshutxp_skin_enD_vga
instead of
psshutxp_skin_enG_vga
useful anyway.
best regards

I don't get this. If the phone is in such a state that you need to access the reset button at the back, then surely you're not going to be able to reset the device using software since you won't be able to get at that software. And if the software's working well enough that you can run a program, then why not just hold down the power button for a few seconds and switch it off and then on again that way?

Hi Andy,
sometimes windows you know ;-) , needs a reboot, it's not frozen but, one application is working wrong, perhaps the memory is eaten and not given back
i encountered many times worries with my gps(cold start) on my kaiser and that helped, i have not enough recoil to know if it will be so needed with topaz.
nb: there's also an autoshut off, suspend, timer
i must confess also while driving but hush

So has anyone tested the program mentioned above for soft resetting the phone?
I manily need to soft reset the phone after installations (like .net CF 3.5) and don't like the idea to remove tha back cover every time (since it will get loose).
When i installed HD Tweak, it installed even HD Soft Reset.
And it works to reset our Diamond2

I con confirm it works too....very cool app
Why on Earth would you want to install and use an application to do a soft-reset?
Holding down the power button, switching off the phone that way, then touching the power button to turn the phone back on, does the same thing as a soft reset anyway.

Yeah, that was what I was trying to say. I don't know why people want to install a separate application to do this when the device can do it out-of-the-box already.

Sorry i cant remember, just remember reading it in a thread on here once, which is why i started soft resetting instead of just turning my phone on and off.
May be one of the senior members could clear this up?!

just saving the on/off button's life(you have to press it twice), i have received my diamond since 4 days
and i had already softreset at least 20 times for soft install which requires a reboot and several times for example device.exe, shell.exe crashing or touchflo worries.
so i dont like removing the back too often when i could it do by software. And after all if you have no use of it dont install it ;-)

Sorry if I'm reposting, I found something similar but nothing really like my problem. I haven't installed any programs withing the last month but when I hold the long press and try to shut down the device, it asks me if i want to do that i press yes then screen goes black. But if i quickly press the power button the screen comes back and it didn't actually shut down just lost service. If you go to com manager and try to enable service again it will search for hours and only way to get it back is to soft reset. Anyone else had this happen? Thanks (I dont want to hard reset I have way too many programs that would take years to find again)
back up the programs using sprite backup and do a hard reset
intsall schaps advanced config, then menu>Key mapping and see what it says for "Long press Power key:"
i did that to mine by accident when i was remapping the buttons and i remapped the long power for something else and i couldnt shut down my device anymore. luckily i was going to update the rom anyways, but from what i remember there is no way to map it back originaly

The second pic that he has with the program linked to the longpress shutdown key, I don't have that file the only things I have close to it is powerexe.exe and poweroffwarning.exe. Do you have the same thing that he does? It would make sense of my phone shutting down if its missing tha program but who knows maybe its something custom it is schaps after all.
Can anyone post this LongPressPowerKey.exe program from their kaiser? Please

Thanks for the help arnoo I really appreciate it, but it doesn't work, program starts loader does the swirl and nothing.
unfortunately, it's normal...
Long Press Power Key is developed by Schap's and need to be integrate in the rom (i think in mscoree.dll). Even if you had LongPressPowerKey.resources.dll
And no cab for the moment...
Thanks lol, now that makes sense why it doesn't work. Do you know if there is anyway to find out what the the longpress shutdown is linked to so i can link it back, i really don't want to flash it.
Poweroff is managed by \windows\PowerOffWarning.exe
And you must have HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\ShowWarningMsg fix to 1
Finally, in schaps advanced config, then menu>Key mapping, "Long press Power key" => keep it blank
hope it will work...
if not, back up with Sprite back up, and try an hard reset
I have the exact same problem right now.

After you unistall the Proxified/custamizable HTC Home you have to clear the bind in advanced config mapper.

if you dont wanna lose your applications and programs just do a sprite backup and hard reset the device to get it back to original settings like somebody else said before..its prolly your best bet to get what you are looking for.

Ok boys so after a week with my baby I am satisfied 90%.
Satisfied with looks, speed and stability.
This might not seem great to some of you but it might help the rest of yaaa.
So:
1. Roms:
-->Tried absolutely all the cooked ROMS all, all of them had issues of various types, yes its true that some were faster and lighter but had stability problems. The only ROM that mixed efficiency and stability was Elite 2.0.
2. Tweaks:
-->Tried all, but go the best results using:
-Using Advanced Config, change File system cache to 8mb and file system filter cache to 131072.
-HKLM\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings:
SpeedHigh: default value (25) <-- Change to (5) / SpeedLow : default value (70) <-- Change to (14).
-Disable all startup items.
-Error reporting disabled and beam disabled.
ADD 10 Megs:
Thanks to Mr. KukurikU, for the heads up.

BATTERY: and Off with EDGE auto attach.
Using Schaps advanced config turn off GPRS auto attach GREAT battery life after that. You will notice a Grey E icon(no data flow) instead of the shiny one before.
When you require edge it does auto connect. When your done with your data session, go to settings cellular/radio comm, not the data comm. Turn it off and then back on again. You will notice the Grey icon is back (resuming data dlow of). Keeps alot of batss.
Must Have:
Mr. Sushilange's Config tool for touch flo 3d (manila)
One last tweak that really tied everything up was using the Schaps advanced config I changed the Touchflo Pressure Threshold to 1. This makes the screen very sensitive thus creating a very quick interface. Responding the milli second you touch it.
Well boys thats it hope it helps someone. Ill add new stuff if you guys thinks its pertinent. Just make a quick guide

After
Thursday afternoon:
Mr. KukurikU:
I like the 10meg boost, overall the phone feels much faster. Im defenetly keeping this tweak, besides the skin on the stock WM6.q is not bad, and it loads quickly.
Thanks for the tip! Great one! Im definitely including in the list of tweaks.
Lucks for you dude! Thanks again.
10mb is quite much ...
Bad programmed phone skin there?
The original one is not that bad looking anyway. And now 'pin' entering and the normal keypad are the same.
Lots faster indeed! And: I got the option 'video call' also in normal phone skin?
Insane, I got after starting up and TFLO3d enabled 48% on original HTC rom of free ram...

Easy:
just re-align screen by touching the screen VERY GENTLY, just press a tiny bit harder until it gets recorgnised.
Screen calibration is also sensitivity. I do it this way.

In my experience, its often bad app programming/app incompatibility that causes a lot of device crashes. Review what apps you have on there and decide if you REALLY need them, if you don't, remove them and see if your device is a little more stable.
Thanks for the tips though, my device should be with me today/tomorrow and I will be taking a close look at your tips - specialy your opinion on which ROM to use as I was currently reviewing all the related threads.
P.s. please dont run off topic but, does RUU now work on Vista and ideally, Vista 64? Thanks!

Okay my bad you dont have to turn off data comm. You have to turn off Cellular comm, in other words the phone logs off from the cellular radio and then back on. Then youll get the grey icon and it will stay like that as if though you soft reseted the Diamond. And yes everytime you use it you must disable it manually (no big deal)
Hope it helps! Luck dude!
About the phone skin. If you disable this, you will not be able to adjust the volume in call while using your headphones..
I don't know about other people, but it still bugs me that psShutXP's "turn off" button doesn't actually turn the phone completely off, but just merely turns screen off.
I then came across another thread where _DrG_ figured out the command line to actually turn your phone completely off
(31#"\Windows\PowerOffWarning.exe", "PowerOff")
I had asked DrG if it would be possible to somehow plug this into psShutXP so that the app would actually be capable of doing a complete shutdown of ur phone. He said yes as long as I could get the source code. Well I tried numerous times to contact the makers of psShutXP and ask them for the source code but no luck. I imagine the only way now to achieve this would be to just make a new app from scratch.
I know some people are saying why not just make a .lnk file for the shutdown command and then use that whenever you want to shutdown. Its just that I would like to have everything in 1 nice little working app.
So basically I am starting this thread in an attempt to see if anyone would be willing to use the command line that _DrG_ provided to make a "knock off" of psShutXP that can actually shut your phone completely OFF.
So if anyone would be able to do this that would be awesome! I would be very appreciative and I'm sure a lot of other people would be too.
Thanks
I can put it on my todo list. Might take a week or two...
How much like the original do you want it?
Just the Dialog for shutdown? Or all the other stuff as well?
Ta
Dave
First of all, Thanks for responding!
But yeah, take as long as you need, no rush at all. I mean u don't even have to be doing this so I am grateful!
And yes I would like it to have pretty much everything like psShutXP.
Sleep-like if you were to just push the power button
Turn Off-turn phone completely off like if you held down power button for 5 seconds, which is what this command does (31#"\Windows\PowerOffWarning.exe", "PowerOff")
Reset-soft reset phone
Timer-for if u want to schedule a soft reset or turn phone completely off. I dont know if its too demanding, but would it be possible to make the timer so that
1.you can either set it for a countdown of X number of seconds that the user defines
2.have the option to enter a time of day that it will execute the restart/shutdown, which you can choose to happen to be a one time thing or a recurring. And if you choose recurring you will be given the option of making it Daily/Weekly/Monthly
If the whole timer thing is too much I totally understand, beggars cant be choosers, right. So i would be more than happy with just the Sleep/Shutdown/Restart buttons.
Thanks again for attempting to do this. I hope you are able to get it done.
Many thanks!
Kewl.
A Timer maybe for V2 then.
There will have to be some differences, because psShutXP is copyrighted work. I'll try and make a "lightweight Open Source (read only to start) alternative that has support for powering off the Kaiser".

Hey Dave! Here is the artwork! I changed it up a little bit to make it look a little more classy. Its in the form of a Photoshop CS3 file, I hope that is alright.
My idea was to not have the whole silver button be what you would tap, but rather just the actual button on the side. Look at pic 1 for reference.
Artwork
Heres the original artwork in case my new design just totally screwed up what you have made so far.
In case anyone else is curious about what this app might look like. Here are some screenshots.

Hi,
Here's my alpha release.
I'll make a new thread and do a beta next release.
Still todo for next release:

*Fix up Graphics, a few Images move when pressed.
*Fix app loadtime (if possible).
EDIT:
*Alpha Blending and a background

Aesome man! It works good! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this. I really appreciate it. I'm sure others are going to enjoy it too.
This app can only get better, that is if you decide to make changes, even though I am completely happy with it as is. Although the timer function would be a cool addition to see in the future
Finally a program that will shut your phone "COMPLETELY" off!
Goodbye psShutXP......HELLO XDA SHUTDOWN!
Installed and assigned to one button, seems to work quite well
Sometimes the most simple things are the most usefull
Thanks for you Application, quite nice
Thanks for the support guys.

any chance you could make a pressed X button for me? I like the idea of it animating as it is pressed.

Hi guys,
I'm actually over at the Elf forum, but I acquired a psShutXP from someone which has the Full Shutdown capability. The only problem is that the Hard Reset and Timer menus are all in Chinese ;-)
Anyways, I'm attaching it for your curiosity.
But I think Dave's app is much sharper and also in English, so it's better LOL
Good work!
EDIT: Regarding your program:
- The "sleep" function sometimes doesn't work if launched from Manila2D's Program tab. It just closes the app but does not put the device into Sleep.
- Also, the sleep function turns off the music in Audio Manager, unlike psShutXP. Probably should look at how they do it in psShutXP.
- Program also takes a few seconds to start up, maybe the graphics need to be scaled down a bit?
Otherwise, good job!
In case you're interested, here's your file along with an XP-style shutdown icon on it (there was no icon in the Alpha).

@asofiker,
any chance you could make a pressed X button for me? I like the idea of it animating as it is pressed.

awesome work dude. jus saw this thread thru dsixda
Here are the cancel buttons artwork

I ran into a slightly odd issue with my X1: I bought a belt carrying case that has a small magnet on the front to keep the flap closed. Well, it seems like bringing the X1 near this magnet causes the screen orientation to change to landscape and back. This wouldn't be a big deal, except that it does this even if the phone is in sleep mode. The result: I put the phone to sleep, put it in the case, the phone comes out of sleep, and the screen rotates. Worse yet, I get a phone call, am taking the phone out of the case, and the screen rotates again.
I did enable the setting that should allow only the power button to wake the phone from sleep, but it's not helping. Any ideas?
I know from some Nokia devices that the slider wakeup is caused by a small magnet. Without it the screen won't turn on. Figured that out when changing the case of my old N80 ...
So I would guess its the same with the Xperia.
Navigate the registry to HKLM>HARDWARE>DEVICEMAP>KEYBD
Create a DWORD entry call "SlideWakeup" with value 0, then reset your device.
Now, your Xperia stays sleeping

Weird. Why the hell would they use a magnet for that?

Because a reed-contact (the name of the magnetic activated contact) is proximity and so there is no mechanical wearing

I noticed this the other day when putting it into my old Vario II case...rather annoying actually, but at least now, the phone turns itself on when I take it out of the case!

Great! T.H.A.N.K U !
I'd really like to know: where the ... do you guys get these hints from???!?!? Is it a collection of reg_tricks you build up through your life by trying and trying with hundrets of mobile models or is there hidden master registry entry list somewhere in a parallel universe?
Te WinMo Registry is quite wellstructured. Go and have a look for your self you may find something useful...but as always: act with loads of care

Thanks for the tip, but it resolves the problem only partially. When I get a phone call, the screen wakes up and the screen rotation dance begins... So, is it possible to turn off the slide-out screen rotation completely?
Thanks,CoolRabbitBlue,
Thats saved my X1 from being thrown at the wall. Was really bugging me, that rotate nonsense.
Excellent tip.
I wanna say I thought I heard somewhere that a maget case can render a device with a slider to not work properly or atleast the slider... Is this true?
whatever a magnet case is but ... if teh magnetfield is to strong it surley can disable the slide / rotate feature of the phone.
The maget case is when you have a case that closes with a magnet. I have seen some cheaper slide out phones get ruined with a strong maget case. I currently have one and it too always switches my screen to landscape. I think if its strong enough to do that then its too strong and can cause damage to your x1.
I think Germetic Contact may be used in phone:

This device works only if placed in magnetic field.
Many alarms for doors and windows made with it's device...

This problem seems to be worse using tf3d. I have been unable to answer calls because by the time the rotation dance has finished the call has gone to voicemail.
no slide wakeup does not help because when a call comes on the device has already woken up.
I think my options are:
get a new case without a magnet.
or
find out how to disable the auto rotate on slide open, maybe if I do this I could assign a hotkey for rotation.
or
dump tf3d and go back to spb shell panel - could always answer phone using dedicated button regardless with this, which leads me to think it might be something to do with dialler/phone interface not tf3d?

Actually they now use a "Hall Effect Switch" which does exactly the same function, but without the moving metal contacts. Hall Effect chips are about the size of the head of the match in your picture!
John
I've made an app overnight that let's you use normal rotation when keyboard slideout but don changes orientation when you put in/ out your X1 from magnet case!. So whenever call comes in the screen does NOT rotate when you're taking out your phone from your pocket.
As soon as i'll make cab for it, i'll post link here

Thanks for the Registry command, I've been wondering why my screen aways goes landscape when I take it out of the case. At least now it won't always go to landscape mode, only during calls, I guess.
To combat the problem of not being able to answer my phone, I started answering the phone with the call button instead of the softkey. Hasn't failed on me yet.
THIS ROM IS NOT PERFECT, IT HAS BUGS, TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK
Hello, I have recooked the 21193 ROM, which includes the timebomb fix. No beta warnings, stable, and fast. This update doesn't add any new features and still retains the bugs from 21193 build. The update has been supplied to fix the timebomb. You can continue using 6.5 for as long as you want
The ROM is now just bare bones - this means only what comes with the build, no extra applications (you will have to install yourself). The timebomb is 100% fixed, and more stable than the last versions. The bugs are still here, but I am working on a new ROM soon!
!!!! IF YOU BRICK YOUR DEVICE BECAUSE YOU DID NOT READ ABOUT UNLOCKING AND FLASHING ROMS BEFORE YOU FLASH THIS ROM I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY !!!!
thanks goes to veisen, JayDee89

woah thanks man, what kitchen did you take for this?? maybe we could get a rom based on the final build
In allot of ways I like 6.5 better than 6.0, 6.1. It seems pretty stable, the main problem is being able to invoke the slide keylock using the red button. That would be sweet.

I'll see what I can do, no promises
Do any of you ROM cookers know what program invokes the device lock. I think it is the screen lock dll but how could you start that using a shortcut?
I searched through the registry and can't find where it is at. I think the program relock in startup is the actual program but not sure how to start it apart from the today plugin or the left softkey when you are in the startmenu.
i'm gonna try out the Windows 6.5 now. Can't wait to see it in action.
Updated the ROM, should work flawless now. Update your device with the new version in the link above.
You sir, are a genious!
Thanks for breathing new life in to my old trusted Palm Treo 750!
So far so good...but we'll see what heavy daily use does to it.
One thing I noticed is that when typing in a phone number you need to activate the numeric keys first using the white button.
Something others have already noted is that the red phone button doesn't put the phone in standby...
Edit: For some reason I can't connect to the 3G network...I can use the phone to call. Other people can call me, but it won't connect to the internet. Weird. Might have to go back to 6.0 just for this
I need to know how to update my phone with this file.
i've got wm 6.5 installed but it's still got the timebomb
please help. can i use the same rom updating utility used to initially update from 6.1 to 6.5?

Here's a short guide:
1) Download the file - CHEEIMG.nbh
2) Copy the file to your SD card and re-insert the card
3) Keep the miniSD slot on the right side of your device unlatched
4) Press and hold the media key (oval button on left of device)
5) Use your stylus, and touch and hold the tiny reset dot at the miniSD latch
6) Hold these together until you see the red/blue/green bootloader flash
7) You should come to a gray screen with blue lettering, flash your phone

I am aware of these issues, and if I can I will fix them, but no promises unfortunately. I'm not sure about your internet problem (I am connected to 3G right now), you might try a reflash. You can also try flashing another radio from this page to fix the problem: http://www.crc.id.au/files/xda/Radio_Roms/
thanx for the step-by-step instructions. i'll try it now. i was an idiot and didn't see the second page on this thread till now.. lol.
ok so i followed your instructions and now i'm looking at a screen with the three coloured bars in the background and the screen says

How long should it stay on this screen for??, been about 5 mins.
well i soft reset it and it started up ok but still with timebomb.
should the sd card be blank with only the one file on it?
edit: so i took a cleaned sd card and put only the CHEEIMG.nbh file onto it and held the media button while pushing the soft reset button and it came to the same screen that i described above. What's actually supposed to happen after this point?
am i doing something wrong?
FINAL EDIT: YAY, figured it out. my SDcard wasn't formatted to FAT32. it's updating now. thnx for the help hehe.
there are still a few bugs in Windows Mobile 6.5 but like pretty much everyone is saying, it's freaking awesome.
I think the only request i'd have would be for the text messaging to have text size options, as i can't find the settings for it anywhere on the phone. As well as i'm seeing some random characters in front of each chat line within text message conversations including a series of squares.
Oh, and the battery bar isn't shown on the top bar. other than that and a few other tiny issues, it's an awesome OS.
Is there a way to patch the ROM so holding the red button activates the device lock? I don't know maybe I keep asking too much here.
Very cool ROM though.
if you hold the White button (bottom left hand button) and the red button it will lock it. at least it does for me. it may not put it in standby mode, but i just set mine so that after a minute it automatically turns the screen off.
thanks for share sir
i've upgrading my treo 750v ,now i will try to update my treo 750v to wm 6.5
thanks for share and bravo xda developers
