How to stop startup vibration? I detest this feature very much! help!

Im sorry to report I can't really help you with this as im no real genius on the matter but im guessing it may be due to some sort of P.O.S.T response on the device similar to the beep you here on some older pc's and laptop's. If so it may be easier for someone to find the right registry entry to change. Then again I may be talking out of my backside. Good Luck!

Are you talking about vibrate on connection ?
Start> phone> menu>options> advanced> uncheck vibrate device when connection is established.

He's talking about when you turn the device on..

I think he's talking about the vibrate when the phone boots (from a soft or hard reset, or from turning the phone completely off)

why so bother about that vibration?

What's it matter...? He still wants to turn it off....
I'd like to as well..

I means how to stop power-on vibration or hard or soft startup vibration. anyone has already stop the vibration, it's really boring!

i would actually be interested in that as well, i have my phone setup to automatically reset itself every day at 3 in the morning, and the vibration from the reset sometimes wakes me up.

yea, i dun like the vibration either.. But i doesnt make a very big deal though

My phone feels shaking , something loose from vibrating effect.

It is decreasing the battery life time , maybe not much for 1 boot.. but if you boot 20 times in a day.. ( god may know why ) Than it would be handy

I think the booting itself will require more power than the one short vibration at the beginning

the vibrating sure isnt helping the battery life either and i would like to disable this also. 10+ resets a day here and each time it vibrates my wife thinks someone is texting me! lol

Additionally, can anyone help get rid of those red numbers during boot-up?
I know that's an obnoxiously complex task that may be impossible for seemingly little payoff, but consider:
1. They prevent using the entire display for splash images, unless you want it covered up for part of the time,
2. My friend is color-blind, and won't be able to tell if they're red, green, or purple - I don't want him to not be sure,
3. They could attract a bull, if you waved it around accidentally in Madrid,
Etc.
I'm sure you can tell there are no shortage of reasons.
Anyone have any ideas?

If you're SR'ing 10 times a day, it's time to fix something on your phone.

open touch annoying noise help!!!

I flashed my phone and got open touch working great, after a couple of weeks it suddenly started making this loud noise, every time I hit the red (hang up) button, even with the keys locked. it also makes the noise when I hit the green (call) button when i call some one.
the first time, I did a hard reset and it fixed it, but yesterday the phone's battery died on me, and when I charged it and turned it on. it was doing it again.
is there any way to fix this without hard reseting it. or a way to prevent this.
it noise it makes is the STANDARD alarm when receiving a text message. but like I said is making it all day long every time i call and even when is in my pocket.. thanks.....

Not sure why your having this problem, but you should move this question to the correct thread so I and others can help you. Instead of creating a new thread.
Thanks,

vibrating on startup

is there any way to prevent diamond from vibrating on startup?
thank you!
There probably is but it woudl mean you have to go through the registry to find the relevant keys and adjust them. I myself dont know which keys would do the job but im sure someone here will be able to help you out.
Now this is probably not the answer you are looking for - but why? Not trying to flame or anything, but I've noticed sometimes a lot of energy can be spent on irrelevant problems. With all due respect, this seems like one of those to me.
A bit more to the point - I strongly doubt a registry value can change that - the vibration occurs apparently BEFORE the operating system is loaded, so registry is meaningless at this point.
I think the phone does a self-test....like said before: it does vibrate before the OS loads, so I don't think there is any registery tweak for this

Ya it does, it cheks all the systems on startup. So be worried if it does NOT vibrate, means your vib crappppeddd out.
Cheers boys

sure it's one of the less important things...
but for me it's a annoying one because i always let spb-backup do a daily backup (which is rebooting after the job) early in the morning when i'm still sleeping - it was fine with trinity (there i had also to do a reg-tweak to disable startup-animation with sound) - with diamond sometimes i get scared from the vibration...
and yes - i'm not sleeping like a log...

Hehe - I see your point. Not much you can do about it though, I'm afraid.
This being said, if that vibration wakes you up, I really hope your home is VERY soundproof
Or simply put your diamond on or under a pillow.
Obviously there needs to be a movie about those horrible phones that go around terrifying people in their sleep!
That said, presumably you are putting the phone on a hard surface? Try putting it on something soft and wooly. Should significantly cut down the noise from those demonic vibrations.
Don't think there's a way to do that. The Touch Cruise does the same, and no one has figured out a way to disable it there as far as I know.
The issue with putting it on a soft surface to not make noise is (presumably) that if he did get an actual call or message, it would also silence that as well.
Can you change your schedule for SPB Backup to do its thing just as you go to sleep instead of in the middle of the night? Or if you don't always sleep at the same time, kick it off manually just as you go to sleep or step into the shower?
I know these don't solve your question, but are ideas to create the desired outcome
i hope i am not ruining this important topic with my high tech proposal for a solution.....
maybe it will be less stressful if you'll program the back up at a different hour....let's say ....when you are brushing yr teeth in the evening....BEFORE you go to sleep.
the back up (thanks god for SPB backup, it saved my ass so many times) takes only 3-4 minutes. right before you'll go to the lalala world you'll hear the reassuring vibe and you'll fall asleep with a smile on yr face knowing that the job is done.
good night, sweet prince. good night back-uped diamond....
I love how this topic gets so many replied but more usefull problems get none. Got to love the internet
I could code you a microcontroller to ignore any vibration signal for the first 30 seconds from start. All you'd need to do is open your diamond and solder it inside.
Hey its a solution

Problems With Diamond touch

Hi
I brought a new HTC touch diamond, i have a few problems, i am hoping that some1 will be able to advise me on how to sort this out?
1. Camera quality is very poor
2. when switching on takes abt 1 min to load
3. display goes off when making a call
4. battery last just about a day even though i dont use it much
5. the phone crashes sometimes

Compared to what? It's a mobile phone camera, it's never going to compare to a dedicated digital camera so if your expectations are too high you'll never be satisfied.

I presume you mean after a soft reset? That's normal, the Diamond isn't just a cellphone, it's effectively a computer and computer's take time to boot up, that's just the way of things. I'm not sure why this is an issue for you because you shouldn't really have to soft reset the thing as part of day-to-day usage anyway so the time it takes should be of little consequence.

That's be design, it's so you don't end up activating any of the phone functions while you've got it pressed against your ear to listen to the call. A lot of people do moan about this but I've never really understood why, you can't see the screen when you've got it pressed against the side of your head anyway so why does it matter if the screen switches off? And even if you do need to see the screen, just hit the power button to toggle it back on again, not a big deal surely?

Yeah, the battery is pretty ****e. The only advice I can offer is to switch off power hungry functions you're not using like wi-fi, HSDPA, Bluetooth etc as those will all hit the battery hard.
im not affected by points 1 - 4 as they are pretty minor to me.
Crashes are what seems to be my main problem as everyday there will be at least 2 crashes where my phone ceases to switch back on from sleep mode and gives a black screen till a soft reset.
After which, I will have no reception whatsoever and further resets will cause my phone to unable to find my SIM card. However, the problem persists till I get 1/2 batt, where i will get my reception back for the rest of the day
It gets really intermittent sometimes as in sometimes in the morning or sometimes at night, but never when im at the shop trying to return it
just always at least once or twice a day no matter what.
I have already switched to a new diamond twice as I had different problems with every one, each was extremely critical.
so will flashing a cooked rom help? or a new radio?
I have everything on stock as i have to hard reset it at least once a week.
does anyone have any similar problems? or did i just win the lottery 3 times

Dude:
ALL your questions have been addressed 1000 times.
Step in XDA Devs with respect and start a search before cluttering up the site with same stuff. Search and read like we all did at one point.
Crashes: My jewel probably crashes once a month and that it, that is very understandable.
Anyhow Welcome.
someone help me out too with my diamond problem please?
anyone ?
The search button doesn't bite
Also providing some info regarding ROM and Radio would provide us with more info.

Modifying/Disabling some system sounds (updated 29. 3. 2010)

I'm pretty annoyed with the beep that my tattoo makes every time a call ends. Now that we have root, has anyone figured which files do we need to edit/delete so we can getr rid of that obnoxious sound? It's not possible to disable it in the Settings, it's there even when Silent mode is enabled.
Edit: Explanation: immediately the other person answers the call, my phone vibrates. That's what I'm referring to as a before-the-call sound.
UPDATE: If anyone wants to disable the welcome screen sound (when the green creature dances around), go to

it surely will drain considerable amount of battery from tattoo... first of all we are worried that battery back up is not that good (1100 mah)...
@coolbits: r u on a cost cutting mode ??? you think we can reduce the call costs from this ??? what will we do if we come to know that other person hung up the phone or has recieved our call ????
r you so busy so that you make a call and continue working on other things till that person recieves your call ????
please dont get offended by this, all i am saying this is its worthless & with weak battery, this function was not called for..... thats all. i dont have any intention of hurting anyone's sentiments....
i thought of giving you the reasons what we all are thinking about that feature.....
hope someday we have he liberty to choose whether we want it on tattoo or not... otherwise it will not make it as a cool feature on tattoo....
No but it's better not to hold the phone near your head while connecting as at that time it uses more power.
This has nothing to do with any cost and quick vibrate on answer will not drain your battery...
yeah the vibration is cool for me too, but some people might want to disable that too. personally, i'd disable the hang-up tone - it seems really useless as i know when i hang up, lol. i mean, i press the red button and all.
I agree on coolbits on this one. I find the vibrating a very well thought feature. Its not abt cost or anything its just helpful, a little touch that makes life easier .
But we r getting off topic here. If someone could just find out how to modify these would b nice. Theres no point convincing each other that its nice or not because itll be different for each of us.

well said yash09... that was the point i was making out of this topic.... we should have an option of enabling/disabling it... then we can agree that its a customised option for all.....
the vibration is ok but the hung up tone that continues after i hung up is annoying...
i updated the first post because i found a way to disable another annoying system sound.
i am still getting that boot sound even after i deleted that file... what to do ???

Dim or dead home button...

Hey guys so. My thrill dropped in value even more the other day when i turned my screen on. And all of a sudden realized that led for the capacitive home button has either blown or severely dimmed. I have never heard of this happening on any device. And it is kinda ugly to look at. I have tried reboots, roms, LG hidden menu... everything to try to get it back. All to no avail. Then i decided it would be far more pleasant to look upon if all the led's were dead. So i apart from taking my phone apart and shorting them out i have tried everything to achieve this goal. Still failure was my result.
My questions to you, the community, is:
1 has this ever happened to you?
2 does anyone no a way of disabling them with a script or mod?
Thanks
do you have the option to leave them on all the time?
if you do leave them on for at least 30 minutes
that in my opinion should reheat the light and just maybe have a working light again.

That is the way Samsung controls the LEDs for the capacitive buttons on GB and ICS.
When I had the Thrill I used this app to keep the lights on with the screen. If I recall correct there was a way to have them always off. But I'm not sure.

isn't the phone covered under warranty?

Doesn't matter any way. I scratched the speaker out to make it look silver. Lol
yeah, I wanted to do the same thing to the speaker but was too afraid to press too hard or go over and scratch the screen.
Well I think this phone is great even thou my daily is the galaxy skyrocket, but I like it so much that I bought my daughter a Thrill from craigslist for $150 unlocked, I thought it was a very good deal
