My compact IV I got from T-mobile Netherlands have been been giving me some problems lately.Only the left portion of the screen responds to touch. It use to happen for some few minutes and then I would work well again. But now it its like that all time. I have tried lots of roms including the original from t-mobile netherlands website, .ie wm6.1 and wm6.5 and done hard reset but doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

Well some of you may know (well remember) me, from the wizard, hermes and exec forums, well i got an iPhone and abandoned WinMo BIG MISTAKE
and now i am back with a Kaiser (MDA Vario branded) with the official o2 rom flashed.
i am currently however having a couple of teething problems...
1) The keyboard sometimes seems like the keys are stuck, however sometimes they work perfectly :s
2) My MMS (o2 uk) doesn't work, even after fiddling with settings etc!
Any help on these two issues would be appreciated
Thank you

Welcome Back
Keyboard Lag Issue & Try running the network setup wizard again, the stock settings should be fine. If that doesn't work, I dunno Maybe take it into an o2 store ?
I don't really want to take it to an o2 store because...
if you switch from an iphone to another phone they change your tariff (changing your contract - they charge)
and they tell you that you have to get a web bolt on because the normal tariff doesnt include it (the iphone tariff does - again it charges)
so my current £45 iphone tariff goes to £55 due to stupid charges etc.
i'll try my best to fix it myself with the aid of these threads
and thank you for the keyboard fix
Hi all,
First of all, let me wish you all a happy 2009
Since a few days my HTC Tytn II freezes sometimes: During several seconds I can't select items using the Stylus.. Even if i tap several times, nothing happens. It usually freezes for 2-3 seconds, not more.
I'm using the 6.1 ROM. I already tried a hard reset, and even without any additional programs installed, the problem occurs every now and then.
Anyone has an idea?

I've had this happen to me as well, but thought it normal just because of the OS being Windows. Sorry I don't really have an answer I'm learning all this stuff as well but did want to at least acknowledge your not the only one with this as an issue.
ok, but is it exactly what I'm experiencing? It's not always the case, only sometimes.. And I can't tell beforehand when it's going to happen actually.
I don't have lots of programs open when the problem occurs..
Par for the course with HTCs WM 6.1 'upgrade'
I had that problem with the HTC supplied WM 6.1 upgrade ROM (along with general unreliability and poor GPS performance). Reverting back to the WM 6.0 ROM/Radio/SPL seems to have cured those issues. Now the only problem I have is an occasionally laggy keyboard (or if I install the laggy keyboard fix here on xda-dev, then occasional pausing during media such as video and mp3 playback - haven't figured out how to solve both). I suspect your pausing is associated with radio/reception activity. Try turning it to flight mode as a test and see if it still occurs (not that the device is much use like this, but it will pinpoint the cause).
HI,
Thanks for reply. Do you know if there's an official (supported by HTC) way to revert back to the old windows?
I indeed upgraded recently to 6.1, and it seems that problems started after the upgrade.
You could complain and get HTC to do it

If your phone is still under warranty then just speak with the HTC Repair Centre for your area (in the UK they're in Milton Keynes). In my case because the GPS under WM 6.1 wouldn't work properly (and I was having the other problems you described), when I told them I needed a prompt solution they offered to revert it for free. After booking it in through their call centre, I left it with the repair centre in the morning and it was done at the end of that day. No there is no official way to do it yourself (even though one HTC call centre staffmember tried to tell me there was - the RUU package he referred me to was only for upgrading from even older WM 6.0 ROMs or reflashing over the same WM 6.0 setup, not reverting back from WM 6.1). There are unofficial ways as per instructions in the wiki so if you're not near to one of their repair centres (or object to the delay/costs involved with postage), then thats an option but make sure you know what you're doing first.
Assuming you have a European WWE HTC branded TyTN II, the setup in my sig seems to be working pretty well here in the UK.
The cure for this is to use the kaiser unlocker and unlock your phone. You will probably have to re-flash your radio after that but this fixed it for me. I only experienced after upgrading to 6.1.

I don't think thats an issue associated with any lock on the phone (although perhaps a lock may make it worse). My HTC branded TyTN II came totally unlocked to start with and after the WM 6.1 upgrade the problems came, after reverting to WM 6.0, they went - the solution seems simple to me if people can get past the 'against the grain thinking' of using an 'old' ROM for greater reliability.

I will confirm that this is happening on a HTC Branded unlocked TyTN II. I have had no experience with 6.0 on my TyTN II, as my phone came with 6.1 installed and exhibits the above mentioned behavior.
Hello,
I flashed a T-Mobile MDA Vario III with HTC latest official rom (WM 6.1) and now screen rotation on slide out / in is much slower. Sometimes it takes up to 4 seconds.
Any ideas?
Best Regards,
Craig Brass
I can't really point to a solution with the ROM you're using; in fact I'd be willing to guess that it's just a side-effect of that particular ROM - I don't imagine the Radio ROM in your device not being best-suited for the OS ROM would deliver slow screen rotation as a side-effect.
All I can say is that I recently flashed to AthineOS and EVERYTHING is quick on it. Screen rotation when sliding occurs within a second I'd say - it might be slightly over a second, I haven't timed it, but either way it's very quick, and quicker than the T-Mobile WM6.0 ROM...
Anyway, hope you get it sorted... Let us know if you find a solution for your current ROM.
Regards,
Rob.
T-Mobile considerations
I seem to recall HTCs fix for this in their HTC Branded WM 6.1 'upgrade' involved more than just the ROM but if the radio and spl are going to be upgraded as well, people need to make sure there are backups of the originals first because in some countries (and Craig didn't say where he's from or fill in that part of his profile), T-Mobile use customised versions and special network configuration. Perhaps a T-Mobile customer can comment whats reqd from experience? I haven't tried searching but I suspect that'd pull something relevant up as well.
Ok, I flashed with AthineOS as suggested. Nearly perfect. Couple of things :-
1. I flashed the official dialer for the voice calling. Before, when launched, it would show Contacts as the left button. Now it shows Hide Keypad. How do I get it to show Contacts again?
2. TouchFlo 3D shows the calender list but when clicked it launches the default phone calender app. I have Developer One Agenda One Installed and I want it to launch this. How do I do that?
Been searching the forums and cant find an answer for this one
I have 2 HTC Tytn II's
Initially I had one on WM6.1 and one on 6.5 (anryl).
I found that the WM6.1 phone kept disconnecting calls inbetween 17 and 19 seconds.
But the WM6.5 seemed to work ok.
So I Upgraded my rom on the 6.1 Tytn to 6.5 and had the same issues,
so then I flashed the radio to multiple versions inluding the ones stated on Anryl's Cooked Rom posts (without any luck).
I also tried switching the Sim cards and also hard resetting.
Has anyone got any ideas on where to go next?

I eventually got this sorted,
this phone doesn't seem to work when I use a bare-ish rom, but when i flashed with TPC elite the calls seem to work ok.
I assume it was a dialer problem.
Hi guys,
Apologies if this has been asked and answered before (I have searched the forums but not found the answer).
The proper HTC Touch Diamond and T-Mobile MDA version have a different set-up with regards to the hardware key usage (which can be seen in the attached pictures.
As you hopefully can see, the call/home and end-call/return buttons are swapped around.
If I change the ROM on a T-mobile MDA to a non T-mobile ROM, do the buttons keep their function assignment or do the functions swap around to the same as they would on a normal HTC device?
Looking at the ROM update pages on this site, the answer to this isn't really obvious?
Answer is yes, the layout of the keys will be unchanged with other ROMs. I've used Hard SPL 1.37 Olinex and flashed different ROMS and is works perfectly.
