Auto data connection and wifi on and off?? - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i want the wifi to automatically turn on and off when in range and out of range of my home network how can i do this?

It's not possible to do it automatically...
But you can use AE button plus an set a double clic on Volume Up (for example) to switch On/Off the wifi...bluetooth or launch a special program...

wi-fi on/off automatically?

is there a way if any program needs connection the wifi to turn on and after exit of the program the wifi to turn off (not waiting 2-3-4min if there is no usage to turn off then)?
I have turned off the wifi for the battery life reasons, so when I need it any time I have to go into comm.manager and so on....
I'm actually using phoneweaver (not free), you can set profiles to switch on/off wifi at specific times. I can turn wifi on, but for some reason can't turn it off automatically, guess I'm a bit dumb to set it correctly, but it works for me.
there's another software called wifilocations (free), it seems to turn on/off wifi based on cell id's, haven't tried it but might work for you
I personally have set a hardware button to act as Wifi on/off (with AEBPlus) and just toggle it with a double press when I need it and when I'm done.
There is a wifi button on the keyboard (right arrow button)
True, I usually forget about that one. But then, I don't want to open the phone to turn Wifi on/off.
Prepare for something magical...
Ok so this isn't magical, in fact, it's just another .cab that you can remapp a button to, that's what I have done and I just toggle wifi on and off using it. Here is the .cab.
Somewhat related but does anyone know if it's possible to turn the phone off but leave wi-fi on ? If I'm at home, I want to have Skype running and receive calls like general mobile calls. Would also like to be available with Messenger too

Download KaiserTweak, it has an option to keep wifi on during standby.
Perfect thanks however .......
Anyone know how I can run Skype and/or WLM in background ? They seem to shut when I click X on them

Check you don't have a 3rd party program or HTC task manager set to "close" instead of "minimize" when tapping X.

[Q] Internet Connection

is there a way to manage the internet connection? i want it to become smart and only run if needed, like on my OmniaII
hmm.. the closest thing is APN On/Off
there are no smart App per say
you can try the firewall app for android, it will only allow internet to the apps that you want
What did you use on the old OmniaII to control internet access for the Apps ?
in the setting there was an option to turn off the internet connection if there were no packets for 2 mins or when screen was off or when you press the end call button for a while
i would really like that in the Galaxy
APN On/Off widget is pretty efficient for what you said

just touch it once and the internet goes off
touch it again and it comes back on

[Q] Tool that ask me what to do when i push the power button once --> Toggle 2G

Hello,
I'm looking for a tool that ask if i want to change to 2G mode when i push the power button once. Is there a tool that does this?
Another option would be the autoenable 2G instead of 3G when in sleep modus, but that won't interfere with the wifi connection.
I'm known with Autotoggle 2G/3G but this tool doesn't work.
Theres 2G/3G apps on th emarket that work when you press the button
Power Toggles
There are toooo many to list

Does Bixby Routine Toggle THEN Actions?

I've been playing with Bixby Routines and can't figure out exactly how they work. For example, if I have a routine called At Home that says:
IF wifi connected to "mynetwork"
THEN turn off bluetooth, turn off auto-sync, phone lock off
Now, if I am at home (and connected to the "mynetwork" SSID), everything works. But if I leave home and become disconnected from "mynetwork," does this routine toggle those settings? The only IF action available is "Connected to..."; there is not a "Disconnected from..." option. If this routine doesn't toggle those settings, how do I create a routine that acts when the wifi connection is broken?

Very simple Profile->Task->Profile project doesn't work. Why?

Profile Home: if I'm near my home WiFi do Task Home.
Task Home: set data transfer to Off, set WiFi to On, say "Welcome home" and set Profile Home to Off.
What happens?
When setting profile Home to Off wifi is immediately switched off too.
Why do I want to set Profile Home to Off?
Moving around the house causes me to lose or switch between Wifi's (I've got an extender). This in turn runs Profile Home over and over again with all consequences.
Any ideas for a remedy?
Why does setting the profile to off switch the wifi off too?
Thnx.
