anyone can help out???
The only way i've found in the past to do this is to sync the phone with outlook, which then creates a recurring appointment for the birthday. hth.

Hi, did you have any picture add it on your contacts?
If yes you have to remove it and do all again.
Remove the picture and goes to the quick contacts and select the contact again and choose the picture do you want. The problem will be finished.
Regards and post the if it done please
Yeah i have a picture for every contact. But the problem is that the contacts, including the pictures, are synced from my Adress Book on my Mac. So changing a picture on the MDA will mess up my contactlist. And second, i don't have the pictures stored on a disk or something. They are part of the 'contactcard' they belong to.
It should work...
It was a long painful process but it worked.
Thanks
Contacts may have lots of information including birthday! Entering birthday, does it mean that, you will be notified of the birthday, or is it just there?
Did anybody try that?
Yes, you will get notified of that persons birthday.
no alert
I tried to set a birthday in a contact a day ahead. Didn't get any notification of the birthday. Is there anything I have to set in order to have work?

i use Vbirthday..... it works fine. it shows you the actual (or the next) age of the contact, and the days to the date of BD... it synchronizes with your outlook contacts but you can add new "events" (birtdays, anniversary etc). hope this useful. bye
not working

Just tried to install Vbirthday and it does not work with my HTC Diamond :-(
Is there any other alternative which sends notifications and alerts on birthdays??
Tried NS Birthday but does not send notifications, it only displays birthdays in one place!
sir, read this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424381
I have found that once you set a birthday for a contact after a few sync's with your Calander and PDA with Activesync it appears in the calander as a recurring event. Then you can edit the recurring event in Outlook calander and sert alarms/whatever.
Alternative is to just add birthday /anniversary/sacred day...whatever as a recurring event and add the alarms you want (best with outlook and then sync)
Job done

Active Sync / Windows Mobile Device Center & Outlook do that for you.
Sync. your device with Outlook to mark birthdays on your calendar.
Birthdays will show up as a full day event.
Utility
It would otherwise be nice to have a little tool that looksup your contact book and from there, it check all birthdays and build a database with notifications and alerts

Something has to put the birthday in the calendar. If you sync with Exchange, and set up your contacts wtih Birthdays, Outlook will add them to the calendar. Google doesn't do this, but there are some tools to do it:
http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2009/07/birthday-calendar-for-google-contacts.html
Since Facebook doesn't have a calendar, I see no way to do it automatically. All the above methods rely on the contact app to talk to the calendar app within one application suite.
If you have Google/Gmail contacts and you have all their birthday information entered there. The easiest way is to go to Google calendar on a desktop. Then you would go to the Calendar settings, click on the Calendars link, and then click where it says to "Browse interesting calendars". This will take you to a page where it has the options for Holidays, Sports, or More. If you click more, there is a "Contacts' birthdays and events" calendar that you can subscribe to. Once subscribed, you can then select it as one of the calendars to sync on your phone to the calendar app.
Sounds complicated and maybe it is for some, but it was not for me. Hope this helps.
"EboBirthday" from Android Market does exactly what you're looking for perfectly and you don't have to worry about syncing with anything outside of the contact list on your phone.

well... kind of...
when you turn your phone off, and turn it back on... all the birthdays dissappear from the calender and you have to run EBOBIRTHDAY again... which takes a few minutes if you have a lot of contacts...
ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS?
Hmm. This didn't happen to me and I've had it practically since the phone came out

Meh. I still prefer the Google contacts and calendar method.

The only setting that can be changed for the primary Windows Live ID is Email sync. Calendar, Contacts, and everything else will sync automatically and you cannot disable that.
I'm using the Google calendar service for the past years for my work, although I did not have any Android devices.
I got the One and I synced my calendar but unfortunately past events have not synced. The sync went just to a month in the past.
As I need to check past events very often and use the Search function this is a huge problem for me.
The only solution until now is to use the browser and search through the mobile calendar site, but this is not the best solution.
So, my question is: Is there any way to sync all my past events to the HTC One calendar app?
If not is there any other calendar app that would allow me to sync these events?
If again not is there any other solution using something else instead of Google?
sync failed
before we try to figure out the problem... can you verify that the calendar app you are using is actually by google and not HTC?

I didn't see your answer, so sorry for not replying earlier.
The problem is not app-specific, it's Google Calendar specific.
Google Calendar allows you to sync with mobile devices but syncs events up to one month back, not older.
So I searched around and found a solution.
In case anyone is interested, this worked for me:
I went to my Google account (from my PC browser) and exported my Calendar (it's a zip file).
I then unzipped it and imported it to the same account (no duplicates) and when my phone synced back I got all my entries in my Calendar app (I use the HTC calendar app). So now I can go back to events or search.

Well the zip file technique didnt work with me, I see only one exporting option at the top calendars but not for the one that i added "Contacts birthdays and events". Anyway i tried to export and that is my mail calendar and even that exporting failed saying "Processed zero events.Failed to import events: Processing error during upload." I can see the birthdays and event of my contacts [that i maintain in gmail with birthday date] in the calendar but not on my phone. I cleared the cache and the data from the HTC Calendar app and i re-added this calendar from my mail account and then only some birthdays are shown and some are not. Its irritating to see these many cache problems with android/HTC.

Did you unzip the file?
The exported file is .zip. and you have to import the .ics

Yes i did that later and still only some contacts' birthdays and events are shown.
And do you know how to get full clarity contact pictures while calling [only using google, not from facebook] I'd like to set a contact picture to each and everyone to my contacts in gmail and i want them to stay like that, but while calling the picture is pixellated. Many reported this as annoying in the google forums, but did google resolve this?

to your question about the contact pics, while i can't confirm if it has been resolved BUT i did notice that the picture itself has to "buffer" or download itself to get clear.been that way for me since early ics.this is what i do if the picture is blurry i go into my contacts on my phone go to that contact click on the pic and nothing else and i see it "buffer/download" itself and go from blurry to clear within secs.

I will try it then, i just need to go to each contact and make the contact pic buffer, provided these pics should've be saved in gmail right? under contacts? I do get options to select the contact pic from accounts like Facebook, whatsapp etc.....i just need to upload a nice contact pic and select google as contact pic and wait for it to buffer?!!
