I have both sprintnav and telenav how to uninstall telenav? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Doh I installed the new HTC GPS hotfix and sprintnav still works, only now I realize that I have folders telenav in (older)internal storage and sprintnav(newer) in my device, and the start menu item is pointing to the old version.
So I have to drill into programs to run the newer one and if I don't I get a nag screen to update again constantly.
There are 2 "sprintnav" in settings->menus, one of which is checked, but it gives me an error if I try to change the state of either checkbox. Installing total commander right now. How can I "properly" uninstall the old telenav and get the system pointing at my new sprintnav? Err ok I did delete the old one, soft reset, still can't change the dead link pointed to in start menu, and if I click that now, it runs some version of sprintnav with the screen all screwed up. I can still run the new one properly out of programs.

Man it's great to be a noob on something! wtf is this retarded or what? I know I started this crap by installing an update to internal storage once. I got a good shortcut (sprintnave)in my start menu and the bad one (telenave)gone, but the programs shortcut now runs a funky displaying old version.

DOH wtf, ok sorry for the spam, but I'm sure this f'ing thing fixed itself.
There's only one item in settings/menus, and both shortcuts point to the proper directory, in fact I want to say that even while one of them was running the old version based on the about screen and the appearance being the same as when I ran the old one out of explorer, the shortcuts all said they were pointing to the new one! So I don't know what the lesson is here except to try doing 3 soft resets after updating sprint navigation before you decide there's a problem.

Sorry if this is a stupid question!

I am quite new to ROM flashing, but have been successful and am now able to do it with no problems.
My question is simple:-
Could some someone please define the word TILT in the following sentance.
"Tilt owners, install additional cabs"
I though that all Keizer's were Tilt devices, or am I wrong? How do I know if I am a Tilt owner?
Sorry if it's a stupid question.

Yup its a stupid question alright. Naw just playing.
The Tilt is A "Kaiser" Per se but a Kaiser is not a Tilt. you know like a rectangle is a square but a square is not a rectangle.
Functionally they are the same however, the keyboard appears different, hence the need for the Keyboard Fix cab and there is no Video call Camera in the front. Oh and there is the unbearable need to have AT&T as a carrier.
And it would appear... slower roms too...

I really don't have a problem, once the bloatware is removed that is. At least its very easy to remove AT&T bloatware completely on a Tilt. No need to flash to get rid of it.

Its really easy to remove the bloatware on an AT&T Tilt. Takes about 5 minutes total. The AT&T internet settings and such will stay. It will remain fully functional. If you want stuff back like Cingular Video or Media mall you will have to reinstall those separately.
First of all you must realize when you are done the phone will be just like it came out of the box, minus the bloatware. You will have to reinstall any applications installed to the device, and redo all previously applied hacks. Backup anything you don't want lost that is in storage memory, and move it to your storage card. Anything on your storage card is safe. Once everything you don't want lost is safely backed up or moved you can proceed.
Click Start --> Settings --> System tab --> Clear Storage
Enter "1234" and click YES.
Device will reboot.
When it comes back up have your stylus ready. It will ask you to align the screen (Tap the crosshairs), set the time zone & clock, etc.
When done you will see a green screen that says something like "You have now setup your device, tap the screen to begin using Windows Mobile..."
As soon as you tap and the today screen opens you will see a text box popup saying "Software install will begin in 3 seconds" Quickly soft reset the phone before this install begins. Do this by inserting the Stylus in the reset hole in the bottom of the device and press before the install begins.
Device will reboot.
When it comes back up you will be free of AT&T Bloatware.
You may now redo all of your hacks and reinstall your software. You will notice a lot more available storage memory and RAM available.
Enjoy!

Hey Jay thanks for the advice on getting rid of att's softwares. I notice on your icon that you have TOM TOM running as your GPS program. I have TOMTOM also however my is cracked and the version is 6.010. When I first installed it, searching for satellite was fairly fast. Now, it takes forever. Any idea on what happened? Thanks

Sounds like your quick GPS files need updating. I have mine set to auto download when necessary. Go to Start--> Programs --> Quick GPS. The icon looks like a satellite dish. Click Download. When your download is complete click Menu--> Options. Make sure "Autodownload when data expires" is checked.

No, I don't have a list of everything the bloatware install ads, hides, or otherwise changes. I know Internet connection sharing is hidden and replaced with the AT&T dialer application. Then there's all the 30 second trial versions of the games that are gone as well.
After you remove the bloatware all the cabs for the bloatware are in the windows directory. If there's anything missing like Cingular Video, or anything else like that, that you can't live without just run the appropriate *.cab file and install it. I prefer this way as you can selectively install just what you want, and leave out the rest.

LOL, I've had mine since November and I haven't flashed yet. I haven't found a need to so far. I am heavily tweaked and modded though... I've been thinking about flashing, but I generally don't flash a device until my warranty expires, but that's just me. I think the only exception was with my classic model V3. I think I flashed that phone the day I got it to remove the Cingular crap. It was not necessary to flash the Tilt to remove the AT&T crap, so I haven't flashed ... yet.

Yeah, mine still worked. Just the crap is gone. Remember you will have to reinstall everything, and setup your device again, so make sure you have all that stuff ready. Its a good idea to keep all of your cabs in a folder on your storage card so you don't have to look for that stuff when you hard reset.

2 most recent programs in start menu are duplicating

This is kind of bizarre...every time I click on my start menu, the number of items shown as the recently run programs just duplicate themselves! For example, if I have two items there, the next time I click on my start menu I will have 4, and then 6, 8,10,12, etc...
Aside from that, once the list goes over 10, the start menu turns white and I can only see the icons without the text labels of what they are.
Anyone else run into this or know how to fix it?
Yes, had the same thing. Backed up my PIM data, then HR'ed and it was the last I saw of the double-then-white start menu.
But it was EXTREMELY annoying, damn right.
Ah, one more thing: you mislabeled the issue but described it accurately: it's always two latest entries that get doubled, until the whole goes out of bounds and turns white...
Fixed part of the title
I HR'd a couple times and continued to have the same problem after re-installing various software...so I tried being more deliberate on installing the software and testing things out after each install (if for some reason having a certain program in the list was causing the problem). So far things are good.
i had the problem when i was using the Cube on my phone. I changed from the original 3 sided cube to the Sclpc++ cube and no longer have the problem. So if you are using one of the cubes, that may possibly be the problem.
I thought about using another, but ended up going with sclpc++ from the get-go. There's a -slight- possibility that the problem could have been from accidentally trying to run multiple instances of efrost's touchflo software. But that's just a theory...and from what it sounds like, the problem occurs in different instances that aren't visibly linked.
you might be on to something as I've just realized that the whole thing started soon after my changing ROMs to Schaps' 4.31 AND installing a cube with its own FtouchFlo config... right now, I'm using an older cube (Vista-style by poorlyduck), but have deactivated Schaps' TouchFlo. And haven't run into the white menu since.
Then again, it may be just an unfortunate combination of installed soft and/or customizations...
I'm not so sure that it is the cube though...I ran into this problem when I first received my tilt and was isntalling software on the stock image. After removing and the SR'ing the device followed by the software re-install, the problem went away...granted it only happened once. Regardless of when it happens, it seems thusfar to correct itself after re-installing/removing software so it's hard to say exactly what's causing it.
This happens to me at least once every two weeks. I have found that it occurs when program shortcuts get moved down to the bottom box on the start menu and are then grouped in with the "Programs" and "Settings" folders. If you go into "settings" then click "menus" and change a few check marks around it should reset, however there will still be a shortcut or two on the bottom box. Another thing to try is to go into the windows folder then the start menu folder and just play around in there until it goes away...maybe delete the shortcuts in question and then recopy them back if they disappear from the start menu. Uninstalling and reinstalling the offending programs works as well, it's just a little more hassle in my eyes. My two noob cents.
-Louis
Try checking this out here...I'll be trying this out being as this has been a suggested solution to the problem.

needs to be manually started and then works fine...
I reinstalled and it looks like it did what it was supposed to do...installed into my device not storage card and the option to select it in the today setting is there. But this is a definite issue as other people have experience the same thing...check the forum link I posted earlier if you have doubts
I installed it, and uninstalled it 10 min later. It worked the way it was supposed too, but much like everything else I install on the phone, the ease of use is not there so I end up uninstalling it shortly thereafter.

I completely agree and amd close to uninstalling it myself. While it is a much improved app over the 1st version there is much to be desired in the functionality dept.
I decided to give it couple of days... so far the bast combo was m2d + standard today(with today agenda)...
awkay guys.. I am thinking the same thing. while it looks somehow promising with great potential, imho M2D is still better in it's looks/friendliness.
however I'm going to wait with final judgement for pro version, as this whole applet thing may become something big in the future. anyway - it is nicely coded, but qvga gfx needs to be redone.
I agree to all.... M2D is much more user friendly... I used pointui 1.5 up until M2d came out... PointUI 2.0 goes in the backward direction... It doesnt even stay upto par with Winterface... I understand its beta, but I dont like the way it handles stuff... I loved the way you could scroll in 1.5, man i wish entire windows wud scroll that that.. 2.0 scroll is not similar to all other scroll which ruins its originality... Too similar to other GUIs now :-/... It seems to be made more for the corporate user rather than the personal user...
Yea i installed it on my storage card at first, didn't work.
TO INSTALL:
1. Download it, of course.
2. Run the cab, install it to DEVICE
3. Go to your windows mobile settings, go to the Today options, go to the Items tab, and then uncheck all of your other today items and only leave the Pointui 2 item checked.
4. Enjoy, if possible.
i just installed it without problems on my phone storage.
i love the way you can quickly add / remove applets and the configuration via xml files for the wether / location on the world map. i'm running Athine OS 6.5 ME edition.
I was really looking forward to using this. For weeks i have checked the site in quiet anticipation of home2. After being a user of 1.51 and enjoying its features, my hopes were high for 2. However, it has failed to impress. Maybe it is just me, but where can I find battery information with home2? At least, 1.51 had a battery icon. Furthermore, my own battery icon has been removed from my title bar. There is a lack of customization in home2 that would have been nice to see. I am far from impressed by this.
Yeah a bit disappointed here too, will wait and see how it develops. It can't hold a candle to the BellUI that they did for Bell which is a shame. Also, is there any way to configure which apps it uses for mail/sms/contacts/calendar/alarm etc? I really thought they'd make those easily configurable this time.
whats up with the "select city", not all cities are there, and when i tried selecting chicago, it told me that it was in africa! i think you guys should wait a little before downloading this app, it looks great but it needs more work.

Unable To Uninstall

First off, gotta say thanks to all the developers here. Always been one to mess with my phone, but this place has opened me up to a whole new level of customization and editing. I got 2 bricked Tilts from all the attempts at cooking my own roms, but hey ive learned from it.
Anyways, i just got around to flashing a new rom on my current Tilt (last one before finally switching to Touch Pro 2) which i am quite enjoying, and as i always have i went to install gullum diamond keys. Well needless to say it wasn't working this time, so i went to uninstall it after having found HTC EzTouch.
For some reason its just hanging on the uninstall screen even after multiple reboots. I don't really want to hard reset, but i have never removed a program by hand. A push in the right direction would be awesome.
Oh and the rom i installed was Stylez Black v.2 if that changes anything.
Probably as the sip is still running try and change the sip so as you are not using then uninstall.

Tried, still hangs on the uninstall. I know ive uninstalled it before, can't figure out what went wrong this time.
Oh and love the rom by the way Only had to add S2U2 to make it perfect for me.
Been trying for a while now to figure out how to remove this. Tried a secondary uninstall program, tried off my computer, still wont uninstall. I can't reinstall it since you have to uninstall it to reinstall.
I looked at the setup xml file in the cab, and a good few of the registry keys are missing, which is why im guessing it doesn't work. All of the image files are still in the windows folder, but i can't figure out what registry keys to remove to just stop it from running on the device.
Any help would be awesome, i just need to get it off so i can get the new keyboard on it, its the last thing i need to do xD

Any way to skip device setup stage after a rom flash?

Ive ended up with stupid issue here, basically I replaced my digitizer with a cheap ebay one and made a mess of it, so now my touchscreen doesnt work. Ive been ok with that until today I flashed the rom to unlock the phone and the first screen pops up with "Please tap the screen to set up your device" or something similar. Thats something I cant physically do so if anyone knows a way around that I would LOVE to hear it
Cheers.
Not yet
People will recommend using tools such as mymobiler and such, that enable you to connect to your device over the PC using activesync.
It does work, for the first tap only. The screen alignment after that is where you are boned, I find myself in the same situation.
Try researching for registry keys that can be modified, as programs like Soti's Pocketpro will allow you to modify registry keys. I'll post if I find anything similar.
search for and read about "welcome.not". the idea is to create a blank file named "welcome.not" on your storage card so the phone chooses to skip the screen alignment wizard on first boot up.
The "solution" may be:
Try flashing one of Witschey's ROMs, because he does not include neither screen alignment nor apps setup in the ROM, so that you'll access the device after flashing, no need to soft-reset nor anything.
The question is, what are you going to do if you can't touch the screen ?
Well, i can do a few things that I need with it. Use it as a phone for a start
I get a free upgrade soon so Ill go with the hero or an iphone but until then I will need a phone and an mp3 player. You can still kind of use google maps even for GPS its just tricky. I did manage my way around London with it lol.
Thanks for the tips anyway guys, Ive tried deleting the welcome file already today but the device kind of locks after that in that you cant really see any icons, even tried 2 roms with it. I will give that Witschey ROM a go though that sounds like it could be the answer to this.
welcome.not
Welcome.not file worked for me, but I did not put in on a SD card, just in the root of the device after MS does activesync.
My computer<device<double click<paste
Took the battery out, turned it on, presto.
Thanks for that!!
No need to reflash, was cool.
Well I tried a Witschey ROM and its working great! Thank you afn961 for that one. It runs very fast indeed as well compared to the stock T-mobile WM6 I had on there. Only issue I have now is that I cant access some menus without the touchscreen, worst one being the running programs menu so stuff just stays open. Cant win em all though.
quite a few cooked ROMs these days are built so that the screen alignment wizard is skipped and it won't show up unless you invoke it explicitly.
i suggested the "welcome.not" approach because it is known to work in terms of skipping the screen alignment wizard and i thought you wanted to stick to the ROM you had because it was to your liking, else i'd have suggested one of the ROMs mentioned in the first paragraph.
finally, you CAN manage running applications using one of the many third party task switchers. i will suggest "showcase" or "taskfacade". the idea is to map your PTT button to invoke the task switcher. not sure if the following will work properly but you can set the default htc task manager to close applications (instead of minimizing them) when you press OK. so you can press OK to exit the foreground application or you can invoke the third party task manager to SWITCH to another application. that way, you get multitasking AND the ability to close the applications you don't need.
check it out and let us know how it goes, good luck!
