Dialer skin not right?

I am skinning my Herald completely in a Touch theme. Now i installed some of the Touch/Kaiser dialpad's i found. But all of them come up really wrong, one has HTC background and see-through invisible buttons. The other has a complete HTC background with only the letters being in the wrong position.
How can i fix this? I only need the dial/pin pad to be skinned, then im done.
hi
i'm trying to do the same thing. W>ould you be so kind to provide some links to the files you used? Or the names of the files, because i want to make my herald look like a touch too... I just downloaded a file called Wizard_retouched_dialer.cab . I'll try it out and let you know if it works on my device. I'm using the official WM6 Rom now, but am going to flash the latest PDAVIET rom with Touch FLO soon... wich one are u using? Thnx
I have this problem too, when i installed the reTOUCHEDdialer and i reboot, nothing has changed, and the buttons in the telephone dialer are empty, this dialer works in PDAVIET's rom, why not in the orginal?
somebody please?
yep same problem here, i think it has something to do with the .tsk we are using. When you change theme it asks you to restart the device and it changes the dialer. I think if we used a theme that did not touch the dialer we could use any dialer we liked. Just a theory.
you have to deactivate previous skin from registry soft reset and done.
the change you have to do in registry is here
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\security\phone\skin\Enabled=0
soft reset

before or after i install the dialer?
probably the problem you describe occurs after you install your new dialer.
then when you change this value it works fine, if it doesnt then try re installing the new dialer with the value change,
caution! soft reset with the power button not reset from the hole otherwise tha value in the registry won't take effect!

its more like :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\security\phone\skin\Enabled=0
yeap.. sorry i forgot phone :O
i have tried looking for this key prior to installing the dialer however i dont have it. any other suggestions?
i wrote wrongly the key. se previous posts and add phone
i set enable to 0 then restarted, i then had the original standard wm6 dialer, i installed the wizard retouched dialer then restarted. The dialer then had the same problem as previously mentioned. So I then set the reg key back to 0 restarted and now I am back to the standard wm6 dialer.
In short this dosen't work, any other suggestions?

There is an solution for this. Just install the orginal rom from HTC. Do the setup. Press the softreset button before you get the HTC customizing screen, startup, install the reTOUCHdialer.cab and then reboot. Now the dialer is working again (you have prevented the customizer to install the other htc default dialer). Enjoy!

thx, ill post this in my usefull tips thread
itje, is it work for you ?
I have tried to do this procedure without sucess. The dialer doesn't work with a htc_touch theme
...i tried both - nothing helps!
Any other ideas?
What about using the dialer of Hermes or Wizard and adding the missing pics?
But, who knows wich files we need?
When I follow the procedure above, the buttons display ok, until a restart. But the background is still set to HTC's default. This background is set before customization routine runs.
@mr_frosty_xxl: The Wizard_reTOUCHed_Dialer2.cab, the name gives it away I think this was done for the Wizard.
Im trying to restore the wm6 standard dialer.. how do i do this?
Something to do with the registry? How do i edit this?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\security\phone\skin\Enabled=0
Please help, Thanks

Why no Touchflo?

Just received new Vodaphone(UK) Diamond but it boots into plain WM6.1, no touchflo. Installed TF3D Config, reset theme, still nothing (after reboot)?
Any help appreciated.
Got TF3D checked in Today settings?
It's not in the Today options, I tried switching them all on. Very odd.
Maybe a hard reset helps? (volume down + centre button + red reset button hold for 3 sec).. U will lose all data..
Perhaps it didn't install correctly the first time you start ur phone, or got cut off installing..
if hard reset dosnt help....just flash another official or xda ROM
Why not just send/take it back to Vodaphone and get them to sort it out?
HTC has removed Touch flo animation in newer versions of Diamond (rom v1.90) & thereafter.
One has to install rom v 1.37 or later for touchflo animation

TF3D not possible to disable in T-Mobile Rom?

Hi to the community.
Got a question:
is there a way to disable TF3D in the german T-Mobile Rom?
I tried it also via the TF3D Config and in the normal settings, it simply stays......
And:
the link to my settings button in the Startmenue is dead, after installing QuickMenue, any ideas how to fix it?
Happy New Year to all

I don't remember exactly where, but today items are in the registry, maybe you can disable there and then reboot? I think its in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today, you should be able to use Total Commander.
was on my ori. O2 Rom the same prob. but i flashed the Rom that is the best way!

Can someone please help me using roms???

I recently got myself an X1, and I have to honestly say, its brill!
I am mainly using the spb shell panel, and like it for the reason that I can use my thick fingers to operate it. Is their any other user interfaces like this one?
Ok, I am a smart enough guy…(sometimes)…but I cannot for the life of me understand roms…and what you guys are going on about in these forums.
What I am looking for is a good selection of panels to choose from, however from what I can get from these forums is that I am better installing something completely different on the phone.. I assume this gets rid of my panels?
Do roms completely overwrite what is currenly on the phone? Ie. Panels, tomtom, etc.
Any tips would be much appreciated, as I am interested in a user interface that I can better customise to suit myself (cant customise spb mobile shell)…..
Thanks..
Roughly said a ROM is a collection of appz put in one file together with the WinMo OS.
What those appz are, and which version of winmo, totally depends on the creator of the custom cooked ROM. In the threads of the custom ROM is always a summary of what is included.
Most chefs delete the panels from their ROMs, except for the standard panels and the panelmanager. So you can install the panels you want to use.
When installing a new ROM (custom cooked or stock) it always deletes the phone memory, not your SD-card! So you need to install appz, change settings to your own need, and ofcourse put contacts, agenda, etc back from back-up.
Nice, thanks.
I think in that case that I will avoid them for now, as I do not have a good enough understanding of how it works. I will how ever make more of an effort to read into the process to understand how it will benefit how I use the phone.
Thanks for the heads up.
May I suggest you to read this thread:

Ok, took the plunge, and installed a custom rom....
I installed Touch_IT v4.5 and it is excellent..however
Anyone else experiencing lots of crashes? I am getting lots of crashes for stupid things like trying to open the X panel....
Whats annoyed me most is that I have taken off the back cover so much to remove the battery (to restart) I have cracked the part under the camera :-(
Just out of interest...to convert back to the stock o2 UK rom do I simply download "X1i_GENERIC_UK_CDF1215-1832_R2AA010 - uploaded" from:
NEW ORIGINAL X1 ROMS (all released variants) update 14.3.2009
Then Hard SPL, and install this original rom?
Thanks..

Yes, and yes.
Edit: You don't need to HARD SPL again before you flash it.
I believe that ROM is the generic SE one without any of the O2 branding.
If you need to return it for any reason you will need to reflash it with the O2 ROM (which I believe is available in the same thread as you found the one you pointed out).
You'll also need to change the hard spl back to the original.
Shame about the crack under the camera, did you know you can soft reset by holding down the power button for 3-5 seconds?

How do I change the hard spl back to the original??
I do assume though there is no way to reset the phone when it has completely crashed, without removing the battery. Holding the power button down has no effect.
Its a shame as I love the touch-it 4.5 rom. I almost would live with it being unstable just for some of the features (i.e Camera with autoflash, and the touchflo 3D interface).

Did you hard reset after flash, because I've been using Touch-IT 4.5 since the day after it was released and aren't experiencing big stability issues (hard reset is press the two directly under your screen and press reset button with stylo).

When the batterycover is removed there is a tiny hole next to the battery, you can use your stylo to press the reset button inside the hole (soft reset).
hard reset after flash? no...how do I do that?
As I didnt do it, will I have to reflash it again and then hard reset?
I dont understand "press the 2 under the screen" sorry...
Thanks again..
Hey guys I just too got an X1a and want to install this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=485624 But still not really quite sure what to do. So I just download the ROM and ROMUpdateUtility.exe yes? (where can i find the rom update utility for the Xperia?) Then I just install it onto the phone? I know I hav to backup etc. Will this void the warranty though, will I be able to get it to factory settings if I want to change it back?
Thank you.

Ok, so the reset button is the one underneath the battery cover?
and the right and left buttons are the silver rectangular ones that you can assign as anything?
Should I reflash the phone and hard reset it then, or might hard resetting it now work?

ps remind that hard reset will set the OS back like it has never been used before

Don't know Resco first handed, but looking at the screenshots (http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/indepth.asp) you should be able to enter the registry at the base of the folder tree.

Xbmode cause manilla.exe to crash. urgent!

Im so sorry, im not the kind of person that makes treads and post them as urgent. But this is truly urgent.
I have .net 3.5 cf installed on my phone, i then installed xbmod policy.cab and restarted. Disabled tf3d, installed XBmod VGA Rhodium Manila.cab, rebooted and installed HTC New Contact Card.cab. Once again i reboted, installed Start menu fix.cab and the reboted again. Then i enabled tf3d.
But it all crashes everytime! Manilla.exe crashes and gives a report
'Microsoft.VisualBasic recources not found.
Please im going away and i really need the phone to be working.
I also have sdkcerts installed and i have pressed the reset button with the stylus a couple of times
I would just reflash the ROM or try another ROM altogether that already has Manila 2 already on board. There are 2 in existence. One I am currently using and it works great.
First of all some background please.
Do u have Hard SPL already installed?

If you have an original ROM then it may be that you don't have NET 3.5 Framework, yes?
yeah that must be it... lol ... hope that's his answer.. i remember my stock rom didn't have that but all the custom i've used has it cooked in..
Just go "Cooked" and you will never go back...lol
