Question for Vodafone users..

Hi!
I am trying to download my Hotmail mail to my Kaiser with a Vodafone contract account!
The email comes in but no attachment ! No small envelope with the paper clip shows. I can download attachments with Vodafone.net email.
I wondered if Vodafone were blocking the downloading of attachments but the Vodafone representative told me that you cannot download attachments from Hotmail account that is a free account.
He then said that I need to register and pay for a Hotmail service that allows this.
Are any Vodafone users experiencing this problem ?

Hmm that's odd. I use windows Live to get my hotmail email on the v1615 but haven't received any attachments since i put it on my phone so i dont know. I'll try sending one to myself now and i'll let you know how it goes.
Edit: Ok so i sent two messages with attachments to my hotmail account and i accesed one using a wifi connection and it worked fine. The other one i tried with a data connection and that too was ok. So bottom line is: It works. Maybe your settings are set wrong. Maybe you have it set to not download attachments. It has nothing to do with the hotmail account itself as that guy told you.

So please can you tell me what your settings are ? I would like, very much to know where the settings are for downloading Hotmail attachments !

I checked my settings and i can't see anything in the hotmail settings involving attachments. Are you using Windows Live to see you hotmail messages or something else?

I coould not find anything either, but I can see information about attachments in my Vodafone email account.

Sorry i couldnt be of more help. I really dont know what's the problem with your phone... Can you download attachments from other email accounts?

Yes, I can download with Vodafone !
STrange, can't get the Microsoft Excghange Server to synchronise directly either...

got the Microsoft Exchange Server working now....
Outlook 2007 PC address on the PC was different !
Attachments in Hotmail still do not work, but don't care...! The email throught M.E.S. gives what I need !

Gmail IMAP fix

Hey all.
So i know that the relationship between Gmail's IMAP feature and WM6 is known to be very bad. I'm having the same problems. Only message headers appear on some emails, with absolutely no body- at all!
I was just wondering if anyone knows of a fix for this problem. I have used the search feature on this forum as well as Google itself and haven't found much of anything.
I've heard of things such as mobi mail (something like that), but im not really sure how it works. Apparently it fixes the IMAP issues with Gmail, but does it require viewing your email by first opening another program? I really like to just go to the messages center of my phone and select the email and go directly to the email. Also, if i were to use this, would the number of new emails show up on the HTC home plugin that i have install on my Tilt?
I know there are alot of questions here, but this is a very frustrating issue, that i'm sure a lot of people have. Thanks so much for all your help! I want to be able to use my Tilt to its best potential!!!

As far as i know there's still no fix for it. I don't understand why google hasn't already fixed this problem.

Android?

I know this isn't really a solution to this exact issue, but I have found the latest Beta of FlexMail 4.0 to have EXCELLENT Gmail IMAP support. You might want to give it a try. The latest Beta has also been much more stable on my device than previous versions of the software were.

I have no problem accessing gMail on my Tilt. whats your issue exactly? Do you have the settings properly configured? -- i;m leaning towards no.

I just use opera mini to access my gmail accont directly.

Hmmm, perhaps rather than replying with this rather unhelpful post you could share your settings.
I too experienced the issue mentioned above. About 50% of my email messages were blank. No problem with Flexmail though. Now perhaps in the last few weeks Google has upgraded their server and the problem doesn't exist, but at the time I reviewed their forums there were SEVERAL others with the same problem and Google's response was that IMAP for WM was not yet officially supported.

Are you using IMAP or POP3, because there a only problems with IMAP. So be sure that you are using IMAP and give then an overview of the configurations you did. If you've got the solution, my gratitude will be great. Thx

ok, using pop3 is just a pain. It doesn't sync with your computer, so you have to read messages twice.... blah blah. That doesnt even seem like it should be an option. Gmail just needs to get their crap together and get IMAP working. there are many other email providers that have excellent support. I have thought about switching, but (other than the IMAP problem) i love gmail!
But, no one has addressed my questions about these other programs. Flexmail and mobimail included. I'm not too sure what these applications are. Could some one explain what they do/ how they work?
Also, will the email notification on the HTC home plugin still function if i do decide to use one of these third party programs?

Google's official statement about IMAP on WM6 (in their gmail help section):
Please note that emails downloaded in HTML format may not be displayed in your Windows Mobile client. We're currently aware of this issue and working on a fix.

well you wouldn't think that it would take MONTHS to fix this problem. especially considering that other ISP's have their IMAP working flawlessly, not to mention the time and effort that gmail has put into iPhone compatibility. How many more Windows Mobile based phones are out there than iPhones????? Yeah.

Google is your ISP? Why does everyone expect the world for free??? its GMAIL, its free... its a recognized problem and its being worked on...

Sync Google Calendar / Contacts

Not sure if anyone posted this but Google just released Calender and Contacts sync service that acts like an exchange server.

So far its only contacts and calendar, but it appears you will be able to sync the tasks and emails as well based on the pics they have posted on the official webpage...

It won't work for me. It keeps telling me that my password if wrong and pops up for me to enter it again. Googling comes up with a few people having the same problem.

It did this for me when I selected the mail and tasks options, once i deselected those it worked perfectly.

Is there any issue in field mapping between O/L & G-contact?

Found this, if it helps
Its not an application suggestions, but the author found a "workaround" to get Yahoo Mail working on the stock mail client. I don't think you can get Push from Yahoo Accounts without paying (not too sure, maybe an app will help with this?). But at least you can get your email on your phone with the stock email client and maybe save some space? That or just get GMail.

Hmm, I tested mine out before I posted and I got it to go through. Anyway I can help? Or you just gonna look for an application? When I Google'd.. i saw a "MailDroid" pop up, but idk anything about it.

i didnt read the first part. it works thanx for the help. the first part said that wifi has to be off will it work only on edge/3G or will it also work on wifi? any how its setup. thanx
EDIT: ok i answered my own question lol, it wont work on wifi, only with 2g/3g data connection

MailDroid will work over wifi though for yahoo. I am the dev, but try it out...it is on slideme and the marketplace.

Go for K-9 Mail. It's in hte Market. It handles Yahoo mail very well and has tons of features.

Yahoo released a Mail app and it is available in market.

permanently deleting emails

whenever i delete an email from my hotmail account on my phone, which is synced, it never gets permanently deleted....
how can i do this so that it will delete it off the hotmail server too?

ah.. if you have over 100 posts and youve been a member sense 2008 why in the world would you post this in a development section.

as for an answer.....i'd check the trash can after you delete it.....some times on gmail i can delete it from my inbox and it'll be in the trash but yet it still shows so i have to delete it from my inbox then go to the trash and delete it permanently
i think that's how almost all emails work. that is a good thing because if you deleted some message you received on accident that was important then you can easily retrieve it from the trash can before you "dump the trash"

Try, Settings, Incoming Server Settings, and then select "Delete email from Server" at the bottom of the settings.

What rom and I'll flash it and post exact directions on how to do so just for you bud

FWIW hotmail or live accounts have been and probably always will be buggy on phones. Sometimes they don't sync right, they almost never delete properly, etc. You could check from a computer in your hotmail to see if there's any settings for your account that may allow this/make it more functional, but, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

That is exactly why I use gmail over yahoo and hotmail. But still we're here to help you as best as possible with your mail client buddy

sorry i hadednt made the time to post guys... i found the answer to my solution, its in settings under the incoming mail options and im running cm7.0
