Hi!
I am trying to download my Hotmail mail to my Kaiser with a Vodafone contract account!
The email comes in but no attachment ! No small envelope with the paper clip shows. I can download attachments with Vodafone.net email.
I wondered if Vodafone were blocking the downloading of attachments but the Vodafone representative told me that you cannot download attachments from Hotmail account that is a free account.
He then said that I need to register and pay for a Hotmail service that allows this.
Are any Vodafone users experiencing this problem ?
Thanks for any help !

Hmm that's odd. I use windows Live to get my hotmail email on the v1615 but haven't received any attachments since i put it on my phone so i dont know. I'll try sending one to myself now and i'll let you know how it goes.
Edit: Ok so i sent two messages with attachments to my hotmail account and i accesed one using a wifi connection and it worked fine. The other one i tried with a data connection and that too was ok. So bottom line is: It works. Maybe your settings are set wrong. Maybe you have it set to not download attachments. It has nothing to do with the hotmail account itself as that guy told you.

Hi everyone,
I just can´t download the attachments of emails I receive...I make the sync, I receive the emails, but when I try do download the attachments it just don´t work (it seems that its going to download, it show that "download arrow" aside de attachment, but nothing happens and the "download arrow" just goes away...).
Can you help me with it?
Nobody?
I have just installed a new ROM and nothing...its seems to be hardware problem, and that really sucks.
With my Touch Cruise and with the same configuration, everything just works fine. With my friend´s Diamond, everythings works fine either.
However, with mine it´s impossible to download email´s attachment...damn...
Have you checked your email settings??...if not check there...click on the account your having probs with and go through the settings ie advanced settings and there should be something there regarding downloading attachments.
For my gmail account, i have all attachments downloaded when i get new emails.

downloading first all headers and only after you choose witch attachments you are interested in and make anther send\receive you'll get them.
Thank you for your response.
However, this is not a settings problem. I have checked and re-checked all the settings. Actually, the settings on my Diamond are exactly the same I had on my Cruise, and are the same I have inserted into another Diamond.
It's really strange...always when I try to download attachments it shows "error synchronizing". I have already choosen the external memory to be the place to file the attachments, but it didn't worked.
On the attachments folder at the external memory it only shows some "empty" icons, but there are no attachments downloaded over there.
It is so frustrating...damn...

That's exactly what I do. On my Cruise it was the same...the header first...than choosing the files, and after all that pressing the send/receive. But this is not working with the Diamond.
It starts the procedure of downloading the files, and after all it finishes the procedure without downloading it. It also clear the "downloading arrow", as if the download had been finished...but it's not...
Exactly the same thing happens with the TyTN II in certain circumstances.
As far as I can tell the problem only arises with HTML mail and even then it seems to depend upon the mail program that sent the message attachment. If I receive an HTML message sent from Outlook by one of my clients I can download the attachment but if I send myself the same email from Outlook on my own machine the attachment disappears.
Judging by the size of the email (on the TyTN at least) the attachment is in fact downloaded but is just not visible.
Try sending yourself or getting someone to send you an email in text format with and attachment and my guess is that you will be able to download and see it.

Thank you mate. I have just tryed this, but it also didn't worked...I'm totally lost...I just don't know what to do, and I'm really planning to smash the Diamond against my bedrooms wall....hehehehehe...
Nobody? No clues?
I have already updated Diamond´s ROM, and nothing happened.
I have also called the HTC support in the US, and no way of getting the emails´ attachments downloaded...damn...
I have changed my ROM at least 4 times...now I'm using the 137.456.2, and the attachments still not downloading....frustrating....
Guys, this is my last posting regarding this matter...I promisse!!!
Unfortunatelly, this attachment issue that I have faced is too much for me. I have tryed to change the ROM...I've changed the settings...I've prayed the Lord and I've entered into an agreement with the Devil itself...and nothing happened.
The Diamond's behavior is not exactly what I've thought a up-to-date device should have.
Shame on HTC...that has acted such as a minor company...
Therefore, I'l have to get bach to Sony...Xpria here I come!!!!!!!!!
SOLUTION!!
Hello,
I too noticed this issue, and found this thread this evening in attempting to resolve it. GOOD NEWS – cracked it!
I had exactly the same issues as you, and I also had multiple Windows Mobile 6.1 devices to test with (including 2 x HTC Diamonds). All WM6.1 devices had the same issue, although an old WM5 device (original HTC Touch in fact) worked fine.
This led me to think it could well be a backend Exchange 2007 configuration issue - and indeed it was: basically a Exchange 2007-set policy to which only the newer devices would adhere to.
Very simple to change:
1. From your Exchange 2007 server go into the ‘Exchange Management Console’
2. Open up the ‘Client Access’ pane which is beneath the ‘Organisation Configuration’ tree
3. Right click on your defined rule (‘Default’ by, erm, default!) and click ‘Properties’
4. Go to the ‘Sync Settings’
5. You need to tick the (now rather obvious!) ‘Allow attachments to be downloaded to the device’
6. Click OK
7. FIXED!
FYI. when I first looked at this a few months ago, ie. when I first migrated my test platform over to Exchange 2007, I assumed here I was defining the default download policy for a given Windows Mobile device, ie. the same as you enter on the device (when selecting how much of a message header to load, how many days/weeks of past calendar etc).. where-as instead on further attention to detail it transpires you are simply giving permission / setting limits here in the Exchange 2007 interface and then you setup your actual preferences on the device itself.
Hope this all makes sense.. and brings an end to your sleepless nights!
Si
Nice.
Thank you Mate.
I have found this other solution, which I have apllied and worked nicelly:
"I have a 800w with Windows mobile 6.1 connecting to a 2003 Exchange
SP2 server. Everything is syncing just fine with active sync but when
I try to open a attachment I get nothing. It looks like its
downloading but never turns the icon to a real icon.
(...)
Well after another couple of hours on the phone with Microsoft we have
at least identifies the problem. The IIS server we have OMA on is
also hosting web services for Citrix. The Citrix licensing service
uses Tomcat for most of its functionality and when we disabled the
isapi_redirect.dll, the phone was able to download again. Looks like
its off to Citrix or Apache for the fix unless someone out there knows
of a fix. "
My problem was exactly the above: Citrix + WinMobile 6.1 + 2003 Exchange Server.
See ya!
How did you disable the dll?
How exactly did you disable the dll?
Did you Prohibit "Tomcat Servlet Engine" under Web Service Extension?
I found this blog that details the issue, however the link to his patched dll is broken:

hi everyone, my question is how do I set-up a hotmail account, when I configure a mail account opens up IE or Opera and from there a access the mail account. With WM5 didn´t do that, I could access the mail account with in the phone without opening the browser.
When I press the mail funtion it doesn´t show the account I already set-up,in this case, hotmail, it shows it empty(no accounts)
any help with this?
thanks
i had problem with this also. Apparently you can only set up one hotmail account on your phone. If let say you deleted it by accident and try to re-add it will not work, instead it will go through the Windows Live website like you stated.
Only solution to fix this is a hard-reset

oo then maybe the owner did set an account before but removed it. If that is the case you will not be able to add a new hotmail account.
My suggestion to you is just do a hardreset, unless there are some things the old owner put in there you might want. If that is the case just plug the USB cable into your computer and copy and paste whatever you want from the phone to your comp as backup
I haven,t done the hard reset because there is no signs of anything being in the memory. When I go to mail function and add new account, I entered the hotmail account and password and then next and shows settings found for hotmail.com,then press next again and goes straight to the browser. I go back to the mail function and again is empty, no account added
Either hard reset or uninstall then reinstall windows live on your phone.

I can do that, but it will still opening mails trough the browser and not as a separate program like it did in WM5?
If you uninstall windows live and reinstall it, then it shouldnt open your mail in an internet browser anymore. Just make sure you have only one hotmail account. The first one will open in the application and if you add others, you will be redirected to the hotmail website.
I just did a hardreset because of touch screen problem. Then I saw this thread, and got my hotmail account working too!
I got the phone from BELL, brand new, but couldn't set up my hotmail accout. It was the same problem: directly go the browser!
Now I love my Diamond even better. It was my gameboy, now it is in business!
Hii.
It´s possible have 2 hotmail account´s on messages menu???
I can´t add 2 or more account´s.
Tankh´s.
i'm having some problems with the hotmail account, somethimes doesnt want to connect through wifi and opens a 3g connection instead..

the easiest way I've found is to simply use the "get xpress mail" function... may or may not work for all, but it is at least a 50-50 shot!

Give me more details please.

Microsoft's hotmail/live/msn support pop3 now.
U can simply use the outlook by setup a new count such as [email protected], and pop3 server as pop3.live.com(maybe, I don't rember), then change the mail address back to [email protected].
The second way is using windows live with messenger.
I access two hotmail accounts, just set as normal but it asks the first time for the address put [email protected], then it lets you setup pop3 and smtp else it detects the address as live and sends you to the browser. edit the address after and all should be ok. ps details here for pop3
http://email.about.com/od/windowslivehotmailtips/qt/et_pop_access.htm
Microsoft FINALLY opened up the POP3 ports for Hotmail, Live, MSN, etc. accounts. That means that we can get our email on our devices again without installing that stupid Live program.
This is especially great for me because the newer version of the Live Mobile program was crashing my Manila and freezing my email tab so I had to uninstall it.
I just set up my hotmail account and it worked immediately.
Here's what you need to do:
1. Create a new mail account
2. Don't put the real domain. For example, for hotmail, I put "hormail" because the device will automatically tell you to go to live.com to set it up. You can change your email address after you put in the server settings.
Here are the settings:
POP server: pop3.live.com (Port 995)
POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example [email protected]
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com (Port 25)
Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
TLS/SSL required? Yes

Do all of this and click "Finish" then go back in and change your email server back to what it should be.
Click Send/Receive and you will get your mail.

This is great! Thanks for posting this, now I can free up a few megabytes on my device. I have always hated that I couldn't check my email on older devices that didn't support the live application, like my Mobilepro 900C. I was never a fan of the live app anyway, as I could never choose what happened to my mail on the servers if I deleted it on my device. Thanks,
Dave
How to get *all* sent emails to show up
Thanks for the heads-up regarding this. I'd heard Hotmail were going to offer a more standard form of POP/SMTP access one of these days. I've configured my Kaiser accordingly and it shows all my received emails fine and emails I've sent from my Kaiser fine but emails I've sent from my desktop PC do not show up in sent emails on the Kaiser. Is this what others are getting as well? How do I get all of my sent emails to show up as well?
Yea, only emails sent from the device will show up.
Glad to see other people find this useful as well.
You're welcome.
thank you so much

Synchronizing folders
I'm can setup my MSN e-mail accounts using the method mentioned earlier.
However, none of the my personal MSN e-mail folders show up for me.
They do if I set up the MSN e-mail using HTTP protocol (and use Adrian HTTPMail Provider) instead of POP3 protocol.
Does anyone know how to get the personal e-mail folders to show up and synchronize using POP3?

I have a strange email issue on my WP8. I use Yaho Mail if that matters; the problem is that when a new email comes in it deletes the one before so I always only have one email in inbox..
Is it deleting also from the server side? Did you try to delete whole account and setup again?

Yeah, I've actually deleted it a few times now. I don't know what is up with Windows Phone where it won't remember my account password even though it is entered correctly; after a while it will say your attention is required and I have to delete it and add it back so it can work. I use to have this issue with Windows Phone 7 and thought that it would be addressed in 8. I'll have to check on the server side.
Okay I found out the issue but I don't get it. When I go to Yaho mail, all my email is in the Trash I moved everything back to the inbox and it shows up on the phone. However when I open my Outlook it sends all of my Yahoo mail to the trash but only online
Ok, I cant really test because Im not using that email. Do you have some settings on your server side that could affect this, also does your service provider offer alternative servers for downloading email?
You probably have the account setup as IMAP, you could use POP and set the settings so it does not delete emails after downloading etc?
