Apps not connecting to internet - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Strange issue with my Tilt... when my apps try to connect to the internet using MEdiaNet they just close out... when I use them on a wifi connection they work with no issues.... Internet connection sharing also works fine when I tether to my laptop....
Currently using ROMeOS 3.5
Any ideas?
---UPDATE----------
After a hard reset this is the current status-
Apps are no longer closing out but some are getting a "cannot connect with current connection settings" message
PIE- connects with no issues
Google Maps- connects with no issues
Internet Connection Sharing- connects with no issues
Skyfire- Does not work... keeps on checking for flight mode
Email- Does not work- "cannot connect with current connection settings" message

is
settings->connections->connections->advanced->select network
set to my isp or whatever your device have named the gprs settings profile
if not change it so it is

Also if you have at&t go to start/settings/connections/connections. You should see MEdia Net with options underneath and My Work Network with options underneath it. Underneath MEdia Net, click the option set up my proxy server. Disable the option that says "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet." Hope this helps

I started having the same problem the other day. My pocket outlook will not connect using Media Net, I get the "Cannot connect with current settings" message. i didn't change anything before this started and I have tried all of the above suggestions. Does any one have any other suggestions? I will do a Hard reset only as a last resort. Thanx

Wifi and use of IP address

I cannot connect to wifi. It says connected and it says i have an IP address but i can't navigate to any webpages. I use WEP and have WM5. If I enter a wrong wep key it won't connect so i feel that i am actually connected to the network just my device isn't realizing it. Is there any manager like the cooked rom of 2003se where i could manually choose WLan as my option to connect to the internet. I have also tried turning off wep on my router and other settings like that. Changed in between connected to work or the internet. Any ideas?
I found the problem. for some reason it was trying to connect on my gprs proxt server. that would always deny the connection. I had to set up my GPRS as my work connection and a generic connection that connected to the internet and ONLY put this network connects to the internet. Also it only worked if i used the existing my work connection and didn't work if i created my own with the same settings..
All is now well in thw WM5 world.. no more resets!!! think this might be a bug though..
I just realized that this ONLY pertains to ATT GPRS settings because they are the only ones who need to set up a proxy server..
now that connections work with my wifi i have one problem and this occurs with GPRS also.. my connections seem to time out. I was trying to download about 50k of mail and after about 10 messages it says "Unable to connect to incoming mail server" I've been connected just fine.. then the connections fails.. i have to do it all over again..

Help with Activesync

I am having a problem that when i connect my phone to my work PC my media net 3g quits working.
I have changed the option in advanced connections, server selection, to use media net on both options but i am still getting no 3g/edge etc. Everytime i sync my phone it tries to use my PC connection as the active internet source.
What i want is to have my phone synced but still use my phones 3g internet on the phone and my LAN for my PC.
Can anybody help me figure out why my phone's internet is replaced by my PC's?
Thanks!
Under "Connection Settings" do you have the box checked that says, "Allow wireless connetion on device when connected to the desktop"?
Yes i do. And when i partnered with active sync i selected the option to allow internet calling etc.
It has to be a background issue. Afaik all the options are correct.
After a little further reasearch it appears that when i connect my phone to the computer the proxy server is changed to my work proxy. If i over ride it to the correct cingular proxy it still does not work.
Any help on this? It's getting annoying. It worked fine for a week then just quit working.

MEdia net automatic connect

I was wondering if there was a way to disable Media Net's automatic connecting whenever I open Internet explorer. I only use wifi for the internet. I disabled it using Kaiser tweak and that worked but then I cannot recieve MMS without MEdia Net enabled. I don't have a problem with it being enabled I just don't want it to automaticly start connecting. If it cant be disabled for everything but mms I would rather have a prompt.
Thanks.

EDIT: I should have read before posting. I'm not sure about the MMS part as I don't use the NODATA program. I was just thinking on the disabling data what I did for my moms phone. Sorry.
I tried that program and it has made it easer to enable/disable MEdia Net, but If there is a way to just make it not automatically connect that would be better. I really hate being charged for the data connection when I don't want to
Has nobody else wanted to get rid of the automatic connecting?
This is the way I disabled the automatic connection on my tilt with stock at&t rom. I don't know if it will work on other kaiser models/ roms since I'm still new with windows mobile (only had the tilt for a couple of months).
go to start>settings> connections tab.
select connections, go to advanced tab.
go to select networks.
On "programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using:"
I changed it from MEdia NET to My Work Network (since I don't use a work network it is not set up). I also switched the second option to my work network just in case.
Since "my work network" was not set up, whenever internet explorer or any other program tries to connect, it will show a "cannot connect" error unless wifi is already activated. however I can still send/recieve MMS since the MEdia net is not disabled.
If you need to use MEdia net on IE you can just switch the opiton back to media net.
I'm still fairly new to windows mobile and my tilt, and I couldn't find a way to do this after searching for days, so i just kept messing with the connections settings until i found this. This is the first time I got a chance to help someone here so I hope it's what you're looking for!
Thanks a lot, it works great!
So I thought this worked but I relized when I make Media Net not auto connect I cannot send or recieve MMS. Is there a way to only allow messaging to auto connect and then disconnect when done?
um why dont you just go to your connection settings and delete your "my connection" its not hard
If I were to do that then I cannot send/receive MMS. That is the dilemma.
go to connections and switch it to "My ISP" and delete the gprs setting from "My ISP"

Email Sync over WiFi/GPRS strange issue/experience

Hi all,
Got a stange issue. I have the MDAcIV (basically a diamond) on the UK T-Mobile contract.
I've setup my Gmail account to send/retrieve and over wifi it works perfectly, however if I disable my wifi connection, I expect the email to sync over GPRS, but I keep getting a sync error saying check your connections etc.
Anyway checked all my connections and it works fine over GPRS in browser, weather, and any other app requiring internet connection, just not email.
Gone through the email settings and under advanced server settings, under Network Connection it's set to "The Internet".
If I change this to "T-Mobile Internet", and then try to sync with wifi OFF, the GPRS kicks in and starts syncing.
I then stopped the GPRS connection, switched on wifi, and tried to sync again, but instead of using the connected wifi, it starts a GPRS connection.
Strange!
So in summary:
Network Connection: The Internet
WiFi OFF
GPRS ON
Sync fails over GPRS
Network Connection: T-Mobile Internet
WiFi ON
GPRS OFF
Syncs over GPRS instead of existing wifi connection
Anyone else have similar experience?
Thanks
I got a similar one:
I'm using Active Sync via HSDPA/GPRS to get my mails pushed (Exchange 2007 Server). Works like a charm and never have problems with it; used it for years with other WiMo devices.
Now, since I have my diamond (MDAc4 also) I can finally use WiFi, too. What I now experience is:
When I turn on Wifi, my cellular connection (HSDPA) stays active and when I turn it off manually via the comm manager it also turns off "PushMail" in comm manager. That basically sets active sync to "manual" instead of "when items arrive".
Though I am able to turn on push mail in comm manager again, as soon as an email arrives it starts to connect HSDPA again.
So basically I can not use wifi to save some MB of my data plan when I want to continue to get my emails. And this really sucks...
Only thing I can set up in the advanced connections in Active Sync is "Connection" where my only option is "Internet" -.- Meaning I can not differ between cellular and wifi. It kinda has to use the cellular connection...
long story short, dunno if that helps you with your problem now, sorry; but if anyone understands what I am talking about right here, maybe send me a pm or something, if you know how to fix that.

Definitely had this happen a fair few times, with the gprs failing to connect once or twice, and I've seen it on most of the roms.
I think WM doesn't set it's connection type correctly, so we don't get the seamless "use the best/cheapest/fastest connection available"
In fact, anyone know of any app that would just do that? As in try to connect to unsecured or secured wifi, followed by 3G/HSDPA, followed by GPRS?

I have exactly the same problem. If I want to get my e-mail the account setting has to be "T-Mobile Internet" unless I'm using wi-fi in which case I have to switch it to be "The Internet". Anyone know of a solution?
Is it possible that T-mobile are forcing you to use your Data connection rather than free Wifi ?
Hmmm nerf maybe?

Thanks for the reply. It could be but the phone doesn't even attempt to connect to mobile data it just pops up an error to say it can't connect with the existing data settings. Its not a T-mobile supplied handset although it did configure itself to use T-Mobile when I first put the SIM in.
Solution
After research and research I´ve finally found a solution. I´ll post some pictures of my settings so you can see yourself what you have to do.
The clou is to have only 1 connection for Wifi and GPRS/3G. WM now firstly checks if there is a Wifi connection and if not, it will connect to GPRS.
Got It
Just untick the box that says "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet" in the manage t-mobile Internet connections app.
Now works over Wifi if available, if not uses GPRS/3G

403 Error While Connected to ActiveSync

For some reason I dont seem to be able to browse web via my mobile browser while device is connected to Activesync (USB cable)
I've checked Allow Wireless Connection and disabled high speed syncing in Conenctions USB>PC on my Xperia.
This affects email and internet data connections and apps. In internet explorer and IRIS I get a 403 error.
I have activesync as "Computer connects to Work Network"
When I disconnect from Activesync I can browse as normal.
Having gone through the usual suspects and done a search I can't seem to find anything that addresses this particular iteration of the 403 error so would gratefully accept any suggest
You don't need the "Allow Wireless Connection when connected to the desktop" ticked. (Unless you want to use WiFi on the X1 while plugged in via ActiveSync).
My ActiveSync "This computer connects to" is set to "The internet", not Work Internet.
Allow USB connections.
On the X1,
Got to Settings, Connections Tab, USB to PC.
Make sure ActiveSync (Sync with outlook) is selected, then make sure "Enable advanced network functionality" it ticked.
cheers for your reply Steve. (good collection of apps too)
These are all options I've tried already (think I've tried every combi) and I end up with the same result - as i get not data connection when i connect the USB. If I open IE or IRIS beforehand and then connect as soon as I browse a new page I get the 403.
I'm sure this didnt happen last time I tried to browse this way but have no idea what could have changed. I thought it could be a connection settings thing - IRIS has loads of options for connections and I've tried all of this, all unsuccessfully. IE doesn't appear to have any options.
Anyone know of any tweaks or reg fixes?
duplicate post
one other thing - if I go to conenction amanger and try to activate Data connection while conencted to activesync, I get sent to the Settings > Connections screen. Data connection will not activate.
I can't offer anymore help Don't know what's up with yours.
cheers anyway steve. gonna wager on a reinstall of activesync and also try on my home pc to see if this is any different.
I know GP can block using device as modem/internet sharing, but this would be different so who knows?
interestingly I've just discovered that I'm still receiving emails when this problem occurs. I wonder if something could be preventing http requests?
just to recap, this works when synced with my home PC, but when synced with my works PC I can't access http via 3g/hsdpa, nor through the PC. I can however receive emails.
As the attachment shows, the phone is connected to the HSDPA and Activesync via USB.
I've reinstalled Activesync on this PC, and experienced an intermittent connection following this - however following this short period of activity the connection halted again.
