Hey All,
I will be travelling to The USA soon and i would like to take my TD2 with me to save me bringing my Laptop.
Just wondering if any one could point me in the right direction to obtaining a prepaid sim-card from a US Carrier, data allowance is a must.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi All,
Does anyone know of any problems using direct push when roaming? We have a guy in Holland using a British Telecom SIM card, and it refuses to push email onto the Kaiser.
Thanks
In activesync, click Menu, then Schedule.
Is "Use above settings when roaming" checked?
Thanks for the reply! I've asked the question to our man in Holland, will let you know the answer...
Thanks
Hope you are ready for the data bill...
Cheers Kyphur, worked a treat! As for the data bill, there's probably not much we can do as the guy "roams" all over europe on business. Unless someone can recommend a provider that has low roaming charges???
Cheers
Does anyone know which is cheaper for the 'roamers' Active sync or Blackberry?
We have a mixture, just trying to decide how to best ditribute to the users.
Many thanks!
Chapelhill
I'm not sure about European carriers but here is the US (ATT) if you have a Blackberry you can get a plan that includes unlimited international data. So there would be no roaming data charges then.

You may just have to wait till July:

€0.25 a megabyte is rather steep still: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/02/07/roaming_data_cut/
£95 a month will get you a 5Gb fair usage and 200 mb roaming http://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispat...fpb=true&_pageLabel=template11&pageID=BS_0031
My husband, who at the time, lived in the UK bought a Galaxy S GT-I9000 cell phone on the Orange network. He was told the phone would work in the US but it doesn't. Is it possible to somehow flash this phone to a US network? If so, can you point me in the right direction? All help is greatly appreciated... thank you!
No, you can't change the hardware. But have you looked at different carrier frequencies? Maybe some of them match the Orange network.
I'm assuming Orange is GSM so maybe at&t or T-Mobile?
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
There are a couple of ways to do this. 1. Buy a T-mo or Simple no contract for one month and buy the sims that go in it. This is easiest and about 45 bucks (29-quid)
Or there is a way to make the phone register through Tmo but if I remember correctly the surcharge on the phone for being out of country is more expensive. This way you need to use the test codes and go into the gsm settings and force it to only look at a certain band. This i have done not stellar results but i did get it to work.
Buying the short term no contract w/ sims is just WAY easier and cheaper
hope that helps...........
Thanks for the help. We are going to try getting the T-Mobile sim card. We'll let know how it works out.

Before you buy one, have one of the techs take out a sim that they are using for a demo-phone to make sure there are no problems before purchasing.
Enjoy your stay in the USA....... *** wow.... they have fish "n" chips just like us in the USA***......George Bush quote...........
will ask them to try for me, thanks again for the advice, i would have just bought it....;~}
hello gaise,
I'm from malaysia, and about to go to the US to pursue my studies.
I'm thinking about getting this phone in malaysia, but what I'm really concern is whether this phone will be compatible with the US network or it would be end up sitting in a trashcan somewhere in states. Should I just bought my phone in the US???
Since I only know this 2 network operator, at&t and tmobile.what is the best carrier in the sense of their wireless coverage and data plans ?
thank you in advance

wierd place to ask this question. But the 710a is for at&t and the 710e will work on t-mobile. You can go to their websites and look up their 3g/4g coverage wherever you plan to be. If money is not a problem, I would go with AT&T.
Hello fellow XDA-ers,
I'll be going to Italy in May and I would like to know if they offer prepaid lines with data packages and international calling. I'm going to be using my HTC Amaze, which i still have to get unlocked. Another question is, would I be getting 2G or 3g/4g speeds with my phone?
Any help or info is definitely appreciated. Thanks in advanced.
Every Op sales data connection with prepaid sim. The average signal is good in cities, where, expecially in open spaces, 3g/4g works well. But if you go away, and reach country, the signal will be very low (sometimes gprs). For international calls, i can't help you
Having been in Poland on prepaid, it's too expensive to call international lol. You'd be better off with a calling card.
Hey just a quick question - I'll be travelling to Canada for a couple of weeks and want to avoid the punishing roaming and data rates from Verizon. I am looking to purchase a local sim from one of their carriers but can't seem to figure out which carrier will best support this phone?
any ideas?
all help is appreciated.
thanks,
