Hi.
I have the htc blackstone locked on orange. my rom version is 1.19.61.1. i want to remove the software of orange and reinstall the windows as it was from htc company. like a new phone from htc. What to do?
Thanks.

use USPL to flash a WWE official HTC ROM
Please bear in mind this will affect your warranty with orange....
Do a search on this forum for USPL to find out what it is and how to use it

thanks

HardSPL will actually install a new SPL to your phone, USPL will not. The advantage of using HardSPL is once you've installed it you can flash as your please to any ROM, when using USPL you must run it every time you want to install a new ROM.
The benefit of using USPL is the official SPL is still installed making it easier to make warranty claims etc.

Lots of research done, nearly ready to start. Some questions...

Will be receiving a HTC TyTN II. It will be Orange branded and sim locked.
I understand the first thing will be to install Hard SPL.
1. Now, I read somewhere that HTC haven't released any official ROMs of their own with Windows Mobile 6.1. Why is it that the Shipped ROMs wiki page has them here?
2. Whether or not they are HTC's own 6.1 ROMs, there are three I'm willing to try. They are (and I'm just copying and pasting these from the Shipped ROMs wiki page):
3.03.405.0 (Radio 1.64.06.04) updated original WWE found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365047
3.02.405.0 (Radio 1.58.26.20) original WWE found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365068
3.28.405.0 (Radio 1.65.16.25) original HTC WWE (World Wide English) found here http://rapidshare.com/files/1170540....0_radio_sign_25.83.40.02_1.65.16.25_Ship.zip
These three seem to be "original" HTC Windows Mobile 6.1 ROMs. All are worldwide English. So what's the difference between each? Should I simply assume the one with the higher version number is the better one?
they have released wm6.1 check htc.com....
htc e-club...

Thanks for confirming for me. I can't check the e-Club yet as I will be getting the phone maybe tomorrow. Anyhow, I really just want the original (and latest if possible) HTC Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM. Which should I pick form the list in the original post. Is one of them the same as the current one on HTC's e-Club?

As your kaiser is Orange branded you will not be able to download from HTC, i wont recognise your imei. You should be able to find a link here, just root about the threads a bit. I'd start with the XDA kaiser wiki.

Thanks. Yup, I found 3 that seem to be HTC originals. Don't know how up to date they are with HTC's e-Club but they should do. From the three I have found below, I'm assuming the higher version is the latest (3.28.405.0), but why does the Shipped ROMs Wiki page not just delete the other 2 and keep the latest one?
Here are the 3 I found:
3.03.405.0 (Radio 1.64.06.04) updated original WWE found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365047
3.02.405.0 (Radio 1.58.26.20) original WWE found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365068

Question 1: Which should I go for, the one I'm assuming as the latest (3.28.405.0), or are all three completely different things?
Question 2: Do these HTC ROMs include all the bundled HTC software that would normally come on an original HTC TyTN II Kaiser?
I'd really like these 2 questions answered before I try the upgrade.

Some users have better luck with older versions, or older radios. Newest isn't always better

Appear to be different build versions an different radios, Some builds/radios work better for some users than others.

Hope this helped in some way. The best way to find the best ROM/Radio is to try them all and see what suits you the best.
Just remember that you will need to unlock the phone too, otherwise installing a new radio (which is needed for WM6.1) will lock your phone and require an unlock code. There is free software on this site to do that for you. Just follow it to the letter and try and use sim cards that are not sim code locked (which i done and had so many problems getting it unlocked)
If it arrives soon you have a very good chance it will have 6.1. If not there is a 6.1 update for download on the Orange UK 6.1 thread. With this you wouldn't have to 'crack' it and invalidate any warranty?
This is what I did and then load the cabs you want. I think every htc cab you could ever need is in here.

I think we are referring to Security unlocking. This process ensures that you phone cannot become bricked by installing the latest radios from HTC that have extra security. Without security unlock you cannot downgrade these radios without a tool called FrankenKaiser.
I'd recommend Sec Unlock for every user, It can be re-locked later if need be.
Thanks
Dave
Yes but the Orange UK phones are radio locked too, which requires the phone to sim unlocked and HardSPL installed to (To prevent Bricking)

Thank you all for your replies.
The phone will have Windows Mobile 6.1 on it, but it's Orange branded with Orange's bloatware. I would prefer just installing the default HTC ROMs. It's also going to be SIM locked to Orange (I confirmed all this before purchase). But, buying the Orange one also worked out cheaper for me.
Question 1:The first thing I'm going to try is SIM unlocking it, while keeping the Orange ROM as it is. Then I'll try a non-Orange SIM card and see if it works. Will I be able to simply unlock the SIM by just using KaiserUnlocker.exe?
Question 2:After that, if I don't like the Orange branded Windows Mobile 6.1, isn't it simply a case of installing HardSPL v3.x.x (latest) and then continuing with the HTC ROM flash procedure as found here?
Question 3:I've just read some replies above about security unlocking. I'll need to do that as well? Is it automatic as part of HardSPL version 3.x.x?
Sorry for all the questions, I've done and still am researching the Wiki/stickies. I figure it'll save time if I clarify the steps now before attempting anything risky.

You must have Hard SPL v1 OliPof to use the Kaiser SIM Unlocker (from here)
The security unlock is not part of the Hard SPL 3.* process, there is a seperate thread by jocky on Security unlocking.
Thanks

Ah, but then the KaiserUnlocker says I must also be on a Windows Mobile 6.0 ROM to SIM unlock it, and my Orange phone will come with a 6.1 ROM. And on the HardSPL v3 FAQ, it says if you're on a 6.1 ROM, you should use HardSPL v3.
So, does this mean I can't unlock the SIM, without first installing HardSPL v3, downgrading to a HTC 6.0 ROM, then installing HardSPL v1, use KaiserUnlocker, then install HardSPL v3 again and upgrade to HTC 6.1 ROM?
Or what better option does an Orange-branded HTC TyTN II Windows Mobile 6.1 Sim-locked phone have?

Install Hard SPL v3 and try the SIM Unlock, sometimes it will work, if it fails, downgrade to Hard SPL v1 and Flash a WM6.0 ROM. Then Sim unlock, then Flash the 3.* Hard SPL and a WM6.1 ROM & Radio.
Thanks

Excellent, I will try this method and let you know how it goes. Thanks.

is HardSPL necessary to flash an original ROM

Hi I have a HTC not ORANGE, AT&T, Turkcell etc. TYTN2, which is German and it is not Cid locked.
I want to flash an original English ROM (RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship.rar), is it necessary to run the HardSPL or can I just run the rom update utility.
Thanks.
Now don't quote me on this but I think if you're flashing an OEM rom from ATT to an ATT branded phone you don't neeed to update the spl. same is true for the HTC kaiser when flashing an official HTC rom. But, if you wanna flash an ATT Rom to your HTC kaiser, or vice versa, I believe you need to change the spl. Now I'm not 100% sure about this and hopefully one of the senior members can clarify this, but you could just play it safe and switch ot like jocky's 3.29 or 3.56 spl and not worry too much about it.

[Q]SoftSPL

I've been reading the wiki, but either it was not clear enough or i am dumb enough (^^)
can anyone pls clarify me? does SoftSPL need to be loaded on every system startup or just only on rom upgrade?
it seemed to me a better choice to use SoftSPL instead of HardSPL to not void warranty.
since OliNex (uber pro ty dudes) are developing a HardSPL is it possible to port/transform/whatever to SoftSPL?
best regards

softspl aka sspl is only used for flashing spl's. You can't flash a rom using a sspl. Why do you think the Hardspl is created???????
thought
sspl -> temp fix
hspl -> perm fix
With the softspl you flash the hard spl and then you flash a rom with it

no. imagine the following case... your device has no matching shipped rom for it... you flash a rom via sspl... flash gets interrupted... YOU're STUCK!!!
and warranty isn't voided with hardspl, just reflash to stock SPL before sending it in...

Hello!
I'm new to the ROM upgrading buisness, just got my new ENERGY ROM installed!

Thank you in Advance,

Please do not start new threads for questions that are best treated in the threads specifically dealing with flashing. There are specific threads for HSPL, USPL and a Tutorial discussing and explaining both.
An official spl will not work (unless it is 1.54.0000) but you will still need to use USPL in that case to keep the spl. That being said however, AFAIK the spl will not have any performance related enhancements to the device unless of course you have the wrong one, in which case the performance will be negatively affected.
You have the choice of either using HSPL or USPL for flashing new roms. As you have chosen HSPL this permanently replaces the standard spl (it can be reversed though).
With USPL, the way I understand it (have not tried it myself as I use HSPL), you first upgrade to an official spl - 1.54.0000, and then using UPSL this allows you to "crack" the standard spl to flash a new rom and each time you flash you need to repeat the process.
The difference between USPL and HSPL:
* HSPL is an user-modified SPL that you have to flash to your phone. It overwrites the existing SPL on your device with a "hacked" one so to say. It allows you to bypass the HTC certificate check and flash unsigned or CID-mismatching roms to your phone. You only have to flash it once and then you can flash roms anytime.
* USPL is a temporary solution. It takes advantage of an exploit in the existing SPL and then loads a modified one to memory, effectively allowing the same thing as HSPL. However, since this is only memory-resident you have to do it each time you want to flash unsigned or CID-mismatching roms to your phone, because this exploited state is lost upon reboot. With USPL you must still have the right version of the HTC SPL that is compatible with the rom you want to use.
