Hi all,
Strange one here - my topaz turns itself on? Not sure if it is a powerbutton issue or software but I can only replicate it when I put the phone down or pick it up
Will try hard reset to see if its software causing it - very strange issue though!
Anyone remember the application that locks ALL buttons? Another test will be to lock all buttons including power button unless I remove the stylus or something.
OK I think I solved it.
Seems to be the stylus - whether it is the stylus itself (because I might have mixed it up with a TD1 or a HD) or whether it is something inside - who knows
I'll test with the spare stylus when I get home - interesting though eh? _

Recently, my Tilt started "locking up" unexpectedly -- it is non-responsive to key or button presses, or touch screen presses, but the bluetooth and wireless lights blink occasionally so it appears to be still "alive". I have to take out the battery to reset it.
This started happening about the time I started wearing it in a belt case. I suspect I am somehow pressing some combination of buttons or partly sliding open the keyboard hwen I take it out of the case, but I'm not sure (obviously). It doesn't happen every time, in fact only about one out of fifty times I remove it from the case, but it is still bothersome.
Perhaps someone else has experienced this or can guess as to the case? Or, perhaps there is a way to turn off all external controls so they cannot be accidentally pressed - while still giving me a way to quickly answer calls/texts?

Steve - If after following the help Harkadenn gave you you are still puzzled - please read the threads on lockups on the Tilt. You wil find these in the ROM sections.
Now - it is going to be necessary to know some if not all of the following information:
1. where are you - US - SE - NW - Italy?
2. what is your carrier?
3. what ROM version are you running
4. have you flashed any other ROMs? or are you running the original
5. what programs have you loaded?
I suspect that you are NOT pushing any buttons - that this is actually locking up on you.
Bill
i thought at first it was me, then i thought, it was the invisible shield i have on my kaiser, but no... it turned out to be HTC's rom that was freezing up.
I flashed dutty's rom, and hey presto, everythings quicker, no lock ups, touch screen reponds 100%!
Even flipping the keyboard out, the rotation is instant!
Hi all,
A few times recently my Diamond has suffered from what appears to be sticking hardware buttons. I usually notice this if I press the phone-down key and instead of quitting what I am doing - or committing the long-ress action it pages left.
Seems to come and go - anyone else had this? I am wondering if it is hardware or software? I am running the HT 2.03 ROM so no hacks...
Rich
Hi Rich,
Ive had this only on my down button, happened twice overall.
I just press the button again and it stopped - it was hardware on mine.
Doesnt happen often (although i dont really use the hardwares that much) so im just gentle with them.
They definately could have made the buttons better!
I have lost my display on my Xperia phone.
The back light comes on -- but that is it -- NOTHING else.
Has anyone else experienced this and more importantly - fixed it ???
if so, what did you do
What have you tried to fix it? I'd say something like this goes in order;
1. Soft Reset (since you don't have a display, use the reset button next to the battery)
2. Hard Reset (hold both hard buttons while pushing the reset button with the stylus)
3. Call someone, either your carrier or SE.
I have the same issue.
About 2 weeks ago issue started.
Waking from sleep or turning on, backlight lights up, but screen is blank.
This is starting to happen more frequently. Sometimes it will work normally, but more and more it is just staying blank.
Also during normal use, screen will become "garbled." Random bits of the screen move around to other parts.
Even during these problems the phone is functioning normally, can even push the buttons on the touch screen even though they are not being displayed.
I have an x1i, hard-spl. Was previously flashed with TouchX 10.1. When issue started happening, I flashed with a newer itje WM6.5 ROM. Same problem.
Issue of screen being blank also happens when booting to the tri-colour screen.
Any ideas?
I had the same issue screen just refused to display. I sent it back to Sony E for repair. They repaired and returned within 7 days. On the repair bill they stated it was a loose connection.
Interesting, hopefully that's it.
Out of curiousity, what was the repair worth?
Just wondering how much i'm up for if that is the case and I send it back.

Yeah.. I know this topic is pretty old, but I exactly have the same problem..
I have the Xperia X1 or about 1 year and a half now, everything was working fine until 2 days ago:
1. If someone calls me or I call them, they don't hear me, but I DO hear them
2. Screen responds, but remains blank (backlight only turns on)
3. Screen shows once in a while, but it pixelates.
I'm thinking of a hardware problem here, anyone knows more about this?
- Tried rebooting > no effect
- Tried soft reset > no effect
In most of all above problems it would be becouse of damaged lcd flex cable. It's not cost too much but you will have to disassemble phone and change it. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/for-Sony-Eric...ries_MobilePhoneBatteries?hash=item563a472301
Hi all,
I recently bought a used X1, wich already had a custom OS (Christian's) installed.
It's an excellent device, though there is one thing that really pisses me off.
The screen alignment is off all the time. No matter how often i re-align, after a short while it always is a few milimeters of, especially on the top half of the screen. So, for example if i want to press a button, i have to press above or under it, else it doesn't work.
I already tried cleaning the edges of the screen, even with pressurized air. Didn't help though.
Is there any solution for this or have i just been ripped off by the seller of this device?
Btw, excuse my english .
Can anyone help me please?
I mean, i really love this phone. But the touchscreen issue makes it kinda useless to me.
Is there any fix for it or is it just the way it is untill i replace the screen?
Hard reset. Or re install the ROM
Make sure to take your time while aligning your device, get some very precise points in or it will throw it all off. If all else fails you can try re-installing, but that probably isn't the problem if realigning fails. Possibly a screen issue?
I hard-resetted (?) and reinstalled the os, didn't work though.
When i re-allign it's all ok, but if i go to 'notes' then, and draw a little, it quickly becomes mis-alligned again.
The line is sometimes drawn more then a centimeter below the stylus :S .
I assume this is not a software problem, perhaps the screen is broken?
Anyway, i'm selling it back to the previous owner...
when i had a problem similar to this it was my ribbon cable that had worn away with sliding the keyboard in and out.
I am not sure whether it is my mind playing trick with me or not, but I feel like my phone is less sensitive after I did the hard reset (power+volume down). Sometimes I need to press 2-3 times because the first light tap was not detected.
So is there anyway to increase the sensitivity?
I have the same problem, but no idea that is the hardware or only software problem.....
Fresh owner of this Optimus 2X in France, in our community, frandroid.com, we encounter the same problem , I think this is a software issue.
Did someone already contact LG??
Maybe they should include this into the bug list thread.
May I know were you guys having this problem since it is out of the box? or after reset?
I have the same problem started from day 1 till now
I have the same issue and already thought I'd be the only one having this problem.
I would not say it's a problem with sensitivity, but it feels like the touchscreen goes into some kind of sleepmode where then you need to press a second time, to wake it up.
Continuous touching is no problem. (like when typing rapidly on the keyboard)
This video is not from me, but it shows the problem.
Have a look at 13:28 and 13:37. The reviewer tries to hit the "Ackermann" entry, but the touchscreen does not recognize the touch. At 13:37 the guy has to press another time to get the entry selected.

Yes! The touchscreen is definitely less sensitive than my old HTC Hero, and gets quite frustrating sometimes when a scroll misses the first part of the movement or a click is missed.
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
just in case, are you guys using 20110218 baseband too?
The same problem here. If I unlock the screen and then tap on any on screen apps, I need to touch again for it to open. Only the first time though, after that it function ok. I think this is a bug and needs to be fixed... I have my pc for double-click.
Yep, count me in. Same problem here. Sometimes screen taps aren't registered. Will do some research later on, but I think it's a software problem. (maybe you have to tap 2x as fast )
Hi,
same problem here!
Potentially a driver issue. A Nexus S user had a similar issue in this thread: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/18431-tuning-driver-to-deal-with-unresponsive-touchscreen/
He managed to tweak the driver and it works fine now. Need to know C++ (I think?) to understand though.

I see, then probably they will fix it on the next update/gingerbread?
Same issue here.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the problem seems to be that the screen has zero tolerance when it comes to tapping and swiping together. If you tap and slide your finger a bit directly after the tap, the tap is ignored. In other words your tap has to be a steady tap when you click on a button or an app. Right on the spot and with no swiping or sliding afterwards. I can't reproduce this on any of my other devices.
Ergo, it seems that the natural tapping I'm used to isn't working on the x2. It seems like I have to adjust my tap. I think that this could in principle be solved with a setting somewhere, because clearly the x2 is capable of registering this in for example a web page.
The great thing of this is that you can safely tap and swipe in the app drawer to scroll up and down or left and right. The downside is that a tap with a little swipe isn't registered at all. I would say that LG has choosen here for a wrong setting.
My personal experience about screen sensivity.. can you confirm if it's the same for your device?
I noticed a strange touch response.. and after some tests, I can say that the touch screen and icons are influenced by the surface where the phone was put!
with the phone in my hands, it's all ok (only sometimes - rare - I need to tap more than once).
If I put the phone over a glass surface (like a glass table) without touching it with both hands, the touch and the icons not respond!! NEVER!
If I put the phone on my scanner the touch screen works ok, but the icons not (or only few and rare taps was detected).!
If I put the phone over my big Onkyo amplifier.. It works like in my hands.. or better!! even without touching with hands.. only with a finger!
Put it back on my glass table.. and all stop working again. If I put a aluminium foil under the phone (between phone and table).. the touch and the icons works again !!
If I put it on the bed.. it don't work.
LG support say that they have tested the phone about this issue after my report.. but no strange response was detected by them. I don't know if they really tested it..
Try it and let me know what you think about!
tested on glass surface, I can press and swipe through pages with a finger without problem.
it is true that my device is not so responsive, but aint reaching that level yet
i read about a similar behaviour on other devices because some devices need a proper grounding for the capacitive screen to work correctly. You can find this problem via google.
Some devices have problem in a car-mounting, for example.
But i think thats not the problem the thread-opener talked about?
Guys I'm looking to get this phone and after reading Engadgets review of the X2 where they mention that the screen is not as sensitive to the touch as other phones I got a bit worried and started googling which lead me here!
Is this true? The screen isn't very sensitive and you have to apply more pressure than other capacitive phones?
I know that the OP is talking about a different issue but I reckon LG will get that sorted out via software update, or at least hope so!
Please do post your experience about the screen sensitivity of the X2 as this is putting me off. I currently have the Motorola Milestone 2 which is very sensitive to the touch even with a screen protector on it.
Cheers
