Better Email App - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

I've got an Alltel Touch Pro with NFS's 6.5 rom installed and i'm looking for a better email app. My hotmail account seems to work fine but my configured cox account doesn't seem to work very well. It hangs up and freezes when I go to send/receive so i'm hoping there is something a lot better then what comes with it.

You should try flexmail. It's much better than pocket outlook.

Goodlink

I am using goodlink on my TILT and when i go to send an sms it doesnt pull my goodlink contacts only my sim contacts.. any clue how to access goodlink contacts for sms?
The Windows Mobile OS will only pull up the native contact list. If you are using ver 5 of GoodLink you can get the GoodLink server IT admin guys to be sure that the one way (that is from GoodLink to your native contacts) is enabled on your phone.
According to GoodLink literature the reason for this functionality is just for this reason and for things like Voice Command (or other voice dialers) that also use the native contact list. In this case the OS uses the native contact list for SMS msgs

Quick question .. how did you get goodlink on your tilt...my restore from backup method did not seem to work. Did you do an OTA install?
EDIT: See my solution posted below
What version of Goodlink are you running?
Do you know if your admin guys have upgraded to ver 5?

Just figured it out ... problem was I had goodlink on my 8525 too (which as of about 20 mins ago, when the fedex guy got here, is being retired), and I could only have it on one device at a time. Once I figured that out, just got a new PIN for the Tilt and it seems to be running the OTA provisioning without a problem.

Mine pushed out 4.9.3.21 and it's working just fine...
I got our admin guys to upgrade to 5.0 then upgraded (it automatically loaded it). It looks a little different to 4.93. its not that much of a big deal except you get a nice RSS and the ability to make a calendar appointment private (finally). BUT admin gets to see all the apps you have on your Kaiser and they can lock anything out! you can also get your admin ppl to allow good contacts to be used for native lookup (phone, sms etc.) but it didnt seem to function as well as activesyncing contacts (it doesnt show company name - in fact it doesnt sync company name and you end up with lots of UNNAMED contacts).
I also had a couple of issues on the install becuase Activesync forces you to add a password and Good doesnt like this when it installs. tyherefore in the end i did it via ahard reset.
All in all, its a luittle better. im testing it for stability before they roll it out to thers where I work.
Please report back on the experience - It would be great to know how things work before I try an push for the upgrade as well.
How well does that RSS work, and is it only set up on the phone, or does it sync with your Outlook acct? (ie - is it a box in your exchange account like the native rss support in Outlook 2007)
Good vs. BBC
I have used goodlink for years starting on my treo 650 then my trusty (kind of) 8525. The whole separate contacts thing really annoyed me so when I got my tilt I switched to, dare I say, blackberry connect. As opposed to using separate software to manage the calendar and contacts, it uses the built in wm apps so the contacts issue goes away. Just something to think about if you have the option to use either one...

Link mail screen to outlook mail

On the TF3D sceen, is there any way to link the mail button to the outlook mail instead of the "internet" mail?
Thanks
Err... If you set up your Outlook mail.. it would work.
If you set up your Outlook Mail and KEEP the Internet Mail (as well), then you will have both of them being accessed from the TF3D mail button (two envelopes on the right, instead of one)
If you set up your Outlook Mail and DELETE the Internet Mail, then you will have one envelope on the right .. and THAT will be the one for Outlook Mail.
To set up your Outlook mail, Tap on TF3D mail button
Then tap on Inbox
Then - Menu - Tools - Options
Now, tap on Outlook E-mail and enter the settings.
I actually tried to configure the Outlook Mail account (time pass) for gmail.
I couldn't get it to work.. (for some reason - sure I did something wrong).
Tried to sync Outlook Mail with my PC using Active Sync... some certificate validity issues came up..
Then, just decided to chuck it.
Had two envelopes appearing on the side.. just went ahead and cleared up everything from the registry - related to the mail set ups and set up my Gmail as the Internet Mail again.
I have set up my Outlook, and as you can see from screenshot, it's got mail in it, however, if I delete my POP3 email, the TF3D screen shows no accounts in the mail screen...
Anyone got any idead how to link the Outlook Inbox to the TF3D Mail screen??
Your email notification icon at the top looks quite suspicious... do you have another email client (such as BB Connect or Intellisync Mobile Suite) installed? I used Intellisync before and this is the icon I received and it also wasnt appearing in TF3D.
Let me know if you are using Intellisync- there is a work-around

It's much better than Outlook Mobile isn't it? Nice to have REAL push mail
The reason TF3D isnt working is because it only recognises Outlook Mobile and not IMS and you do not have an Outlook account setup. The workaround (I'm hoping to find a better way) is to create an Outlook account through Activesync/Mobile Device Center on your PC. I've done some tests and there is no conflict between the two.
The downside is that there is no real integration between TF3D/Outlook and IMS so IMS is essentially working in Parallel. What I am trying to figure out is how to map TF3D to IMS so that when you click the envelope it takes you to IMS and not Outlook. At least with this workaround, you will get the best of both worlds with TF3D showing you your emails and IMS giving you the real push mail functionality which Outlook lacks.
Let me know if it works for you

Excellent. I'm now showing the envelope in the Mail TF3D screen. I presume that with this workaround, all I will ever get is the "Click to view message" message, and not the first few lines of the message that you get with a POP3 account or a proper outlook account. (see attached)
From reading your message I am also guessing you are using version 8 or 9 of IMS. I currently look after 3 servers all using varieties of version 6. I have just created a new server with version 9 which installs the "intellisync" suite of application on the device. I've tried it on an XDA Exec, XDA Orbit (and some nokia and Sony Ericsson devices). I haven't tried it on the Diamond yet. How is it on that?

Correct.
I am using version 9 which works like a charm. I work for the local operator here in Dubai and am currently one of a few internal testers for IMS before we launch it as a service. I find it to be very functional and light on resources- highly highly recommended. Beats all competition including Blackberry (I've also set it up to get a personal POP3 account in much the same way as BB Internet does)
As for how much of the message appears in the TF3D, this depends on how much you tell Outlook to download of the message- all you need is a couple of KBs at the most to get the first few lines in the envelope.
Hey guys
I'm sorry but this will be probably an off-topic and stupid question but when you receive an email on your Diamond does it look like on your pc and can you view emails that have lots of graphics in them ??
I'm really sorry but this is my first WM device and i would like to know things like that
It depends on what kind of email account you are setting up on the device. If it's an Exchange account, the server has to be running Exchange 2007 for you to get HTML email on your device. Internet Email and IMAP display HTML without any problems.
well i've been using maill2web and it just emails didn't look like they should. Maybe you can tell me where can i find a good exchange server or something like that ??

Well... there's many to choose from depending on your needs and budget (not sure of any free ones but you'll probably find some out there- although possibly not because Exchange is not cheap to install or maintain). Anyway a simple Google will give you many results http://www.google.ae/search?hl=en&q=hosted+exchange&meta=
Anyone found the solution yet ?
Noticed the solution to sync to a phony account - But I would really prefer to sort this via a registry tweak or similar.
I need to roll this out to a large number of corporate users, so the phony tweak is kind of hard to roll out compared to a registry modification.
Anyone?...
Its kind of frustrating to see the number of new emails in the notification area of TF3D but not actually being able to use the TF3D envelope function.
Regards
M
Hello,
I tried to find a solution, too. But up to now without success.
Does anyone know, where TF3D gets it's information from?
Best

no link to intellisync/outlook

I also had an intense view at the registry, couldn't find any link to IMS/Outlook key...
I had a phonecall with nokias tac, telling me they will release a patch to solve this problem, not only to see unread mails at the TF3D - to have the original functionality of the tf3d mailicon workin. He could not tell me when the patch
will be released but it WILL come...
...but I'm very sure it could be solved with the correct Regkey...

Sorry to drag up an old thread - I'm currently using Intellisync and would also like to use TF3D to view my emails ...
Did any kind of patch or regedit get released or worked out?
Meanwhile, I'll try the work-around above in this thread if I can work out what to do exactly.
Regards,
Gary.
Any news on this ?
Any sight of that Intellisync patch ?

Manilla TF2D Outlook problem

I have loaded the Manilla TF2D cab and the mail tab does not recognize my outlook mail. I had gmail in there, which it seemed to read fine, but even when I removed gmail it still is not reading my exchange account. I have read other people having this problem and it seems like everyone just responds, it does work.
Is there anything I should try to do, to get this to work, and obviously it is not just me, and it does not work on this phone for some reason.
Any help would be appreciated, the interface is really amazing on the phone, much smoother then I would have expected. Thank you for your work, and thanks for your help.
I am having a similar issue...i installed the Manilla TF2D onto my Omnia but the Mail defaults to my MMS account. I would like it to default to my Outlook (Exchange) account. Is there some way to do this through the registry? Does anyone know?

[Q] What email client are you all using?

A few weeks ago, I bought the Aria for my wife (when it was on sale at AT&T for .01! Then picked myself up a Captivate about two weeks ago.
Having done much of the work getting thing ready for the Mrs, I've used the Aria quite a bit - much too small for me as an everyday phone, but a nice little phone.
The two things I really like about her Aria are the People widget (which I've accomplished on my Captivate with Launcher Pro Plus and it's people widget), and the HTC email client.
I have 2 gmail accounts, 1 SBC account, and my work email (IMAP) that I like to follow. I like the way the HTC email has it all set up. K-9 is "OK", but just feels klunky. I wasn't a big fan of the stock email client from Samsung.
Are there any email clients available that are as user friendly as the HTC client? Any chance of getting the HTC client onto the Captivate? Anything out there that will keep me from wishing I still had my iphone - no push mail, and all? I really liked my iPhone, but so far I like everything better on my Captivate - everything, that is, except the Email situation.
K-9 is workable if that's the best solution out there, but I"m hoping there are some other suggestions out there that I'm just missing!
+ 1 for K9
Touchdown is good for Exchange
For what it's worth.... I've settled on Seven mail for now.
If anyone is interested, their site is: community.seven.com
It's a beta product, but, at least for my needs, it's far and away the best android email client that I've been able to find.
As far as I'm concerned, K-9 is only a slightly better interface than the stock email client... neither of which really float my boat.
Seven has been solid for me.
Gmail and k9 mail
No decent email client for captivate that I know. I tried the galaxy tab client and it was awesome while it lasted, but only did for a day and stopped downloading emails. I heard some people in stock eclair have it running, but I'm not stock
I do not like the stock email client. I was unable to get html via exchange 2003. So for now I'm using Touchdown which is ok. It supports html and works with exchange.
+1
improved mail is very nice except for a flaw in which it is incredibly slow when batch deleting email.
i downloaded the sgs tools and then got the email app from galaxy tab
i personally think its awesome and u should try it out

Default e-mail program

hi
i have this problem that android 2.2.2 default email program does not show inbox mail after some days. how i can to that, phone does not lose it and show so much time when i delete?
with 1.6 android (HTC Tattoo) i did not have this kind problem.
Same here, it shows only the e-mails of about 2 last days, it's configured to an exchange mailbox. Isn't enough of a issue for me to use alternate software. I heard that Moxier is good but it isn't for free, but there are definitly some nice free alternatives.
have anyone idea what is good replacement e-mail program and its easy to use and works like it should?
do a quick google search for the deafult android 2.2 email client, worked wonderfully for me
did you check settings->email-account->synchronisation periode???
yes, i have change all settings what i can. as i understand, default mail program holds in phone inbox only two days emails. after that older than two days are gone.
Default works good for me with my enterprise accounts.
I've gmail and yahoo accounts too, and I use their own apllications for good.
My gmail is fine, or try K9 mail..
