Since version 1.15 the webcam mode isn't any longer supportet inside of CoolCamera! You have to buy this app sepparately from the developer!

playstation/nes emulators for ppc

this is meant to be a discussion board for those interested in running playstation and nes on their pda/phone. i personally have t-mo wing but know these emu's run on all kinds of devices. hopefully this thread will bring yet another addicting dimension to your phone and create an area where we can all help each other bring fun gaming to our devices by sharing our knowledge. i have posted this thread in the herald forum as well but am interested in how it runs on the kaiser as it's processor is 400mhz rather than my herald/wing at 200mhz any input would be helpful. thanks!

ok here is v.9.6 beta the last release from fpsece...still waiting for v.10
this does not have bios in it. if you get it working and like. credit and donations go to the developers at fpsece. you can follow the link in my sig.
hey when you get the emu working you will notice there is a camera icon on the gamepad it will take a screenshot if you press it. it would be cool to see what games we have working through the thread.

Haven't tried it (yet) so can't comment on how it performs but to be honest, im always disillusioned with emulators.
I've tried various snes emu's for ppc but none have impressed me, I guess they're fine if you want to run some of the basic snes games and without sound as the sound always seems to be poor and/or out of sync.
I'd be interested in peoples experiences with the PS emu though

fpsece is a great emulator... however, the kaiser will squeeze at max 15 fps, which makes games unbearable, for me atleast. there is supposed to be a release, .10 i believe, that will increase performance. hopefully, this htc fix from htc and the newer version will add this essential to our device. although, im not too sure, because its only a "software" update... so i guess we'll just have to wait and see what htc surprises us with.

I overclock my wing-herald from 201mhz to 299 and 2d games a pretty playable I can only imagine an overclocked kaiser, say to about 500mhz would have to get 20-30 fps....no?

XPERIA X1a Gets VGA Camera Fix To 30fps

United States owners and perspective buyers of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1a all know of the video recording limitations. Broadcom, the creator of many mobile patents in the US, have forced Qualcomm (HTC’s main processor supplier) to set the X1a's video capacities to 24fps for QVGA and 10fps for VGA resolutions. This has made it a debate as to whether one should have US 3G speeds (850 MHz, 1900 MHz) or 30fps VGA video recording. Without surprise many people opted for the 3G speeds over the video capabilities, but not anymore.
With a simple ROM update anyone with a United States version X1a can now upgrade to the United Kingdom generic X1i while still keeping their 3G speeds. The upgrade requires users to first install HardSPL which allows for ROM installations using HTC’s ROMUpdateUtility. The newest UK XPERIA X1i ROM is dated 2Feb09 and available with all the files needed to port over to the X1a including instructions.

At last - I've been "crying in the wilderness" for 15 months now over the global-cripple that Qualcomm has visited upon us, and endured much abuse from the more wilfully ignorant of the EU denizens - for whom this issue does not matter. Recent HTC device releases deliberately lack the UMTS 850Mhz frequency hardware due to this pernicious issue. This matters greatly to those people who live in regional Canada, US, South Americas, Aus, South Africa
It's extremely gratifying to see consumer action force this into open sunlight

The download is large (RAR 162Mb). It contains the usual files for a ROM upgrade including a ruu_signed.nbh, but the included HardSPL.exe contains a Win32 virus - be warned. I now think the initial post is a malicious hoax.

Yes if you can see in the picture, the new video are in the format of VGA with 30fps. Its so nice to stick it to Broadcom.

Oh it isn't a hoax, this is the real deal and works perfectly... I don't know why it would be showing up as a virus... I downloaded HardSPL from here and ran it on my machine perfectly. I have AVG installed on my system and nothing came up as a virus. Maybe you have a virus scanner that for some reason is saying it is a virus.
But the only amusement that I would want to exploit is the satisfaction of actually having a VGA 30fps video camera on the X1a.

OK then, I was wrong about motive (??), BUT:
1) the HardSPL.exe is a different (larger) filesize than the one in the sticky here and reports as containing a Win32 virus by both Kaspersky and Avast
This is not such an issue as we have a genuine HardSPL in the sub-forum here. I just didn't want newbies using it
2) ruu_signed.nbh as in your download package is also corrupted - ie. NO GOOD
Point 2) here is critical.
This issue is too sensitive to play around with. Could you please supply just a simple link to a guaranteed uncorrupted nbh file ?
Unless you are referring to APP_SW_X1i_GENERIC_UK_R2AA010, which is available as a download from the sticky

That being said, it is not uncommon for the CustomRUU.exe files to be detected as a virus by most commercial AV products. Over in the Raphael ROM Development forum, you will find several hundred posts from people claiming the RUU file is infected. My AV, Eset Smart Security, never threw a false positive until around a month ago... but now it is, and it is hitting on the same RUU file I've been using for 3 months.
For the NBH file, I wouldn't be concerned about it being infected either. The file doesn't execute on your PC, so there's no need to worry.

Oh dear, I wish people would read the posts before making inaccurate, patronising comments ... never gonna happen, I think.
The virus is reported in HardSPL.exe, not CustomRUU.exe. My posts said exactly that.
I never suggested the nbh file would execute on the PC - duuh! I said it was corrupted - so it won't flash, OK ? ... sheeesh !!

if this is supposed to be the 2nd feb 09 rom then it's the R2a10 generic uk.
I'll see if I can dump it and see what's inside this claimed one..
Personally I can't see how it's going to make a difference, unless it's remodelling the inside of the chipset.. Although I'm always ready to be proved wrong.
if it did make a difference then surely although those people who are using the northamerican R2A based roms would be complaining about the lack of fps, as it would work both ways.
If it does dump I'll diff the camera packages..

the rom does have a date of last friday on it..

If anyone wants the camera package then I can upload it, but i'm on my ubuntu machine so can't cab it. So it would have to be a manual install.

Well I can say I have never had a virus detected in any of the other packages I have downloaded ie itje roms(touch it 4.0b2)....which I scanned also....this one however Norton's Identified 3 different files infected...

Here's the two folders from the Kovsky camera, either cab em up yourself (for some reason, probably win 7, pkg to cab isn't playing nice), or copy across to windows, install the provxmls using advanced config and rename the Rgu to REG and install with a reg editor.

i would like a key,too. my phone is an htc fuze.

I'd also like to have a key to test this app on my devices, Eten x500 (QVGA) HTC Universal (VGA) HTC Touch Pro (VGA) and HTC Touch HD (WVGA). In case this app is device-dependant I'd preffer to test it on my Touch Pro

Just tried it and it works well on wvga screen of my Pure. The buffering is very quick and no lag seen. The whole app seems promising because of the range of channels available just wish my free limitation wasn't so quick. I just had a word with one of their customer respresenative named Mandy, she sounded very pleasant and nice. After going through the whole dealing process she insisted that the minimum order to modify an item is 500 units. I don't get why the OP is going on about bulk orders for modifying them. First of all we need to order 500+ to get them modified, then we only need 25+ to get them modified.
Why on earth do they need modifying in the first place? I'm lost.

i think he means 500+ to get them modified to an easier design to use with the hd2, and 25+ to buy now as they are.
How would it fit onto the hd2? or wont it at all. If it cant clip on, or you just hold it, what the point? lol you might as well have just got a phone with a keyboard...
otherwise ur gonna have to carrry around a huge keyboard with you everywhere.
silly idea im afraid, you wont get 500 people to buy them i can tell you that now..

hey mate thanks for correcting here, i actually didnt remove the other comments after updating, doing it now. thanks. the keypad can be modified only if we order above 500+ units. i am not a businessman so cannot ask them for such order. anyways when it will be available i will update my post. thanks though bringing it to my attention.

visually it reminds me of the rhodium keyboard.
I have to admit for occassional use it would be great, I don't tend to write articles and stuff on my pda any more, whereas I used to on my advantage all the time. I may be tempted if it felt good to use, which is the risk with some of these, they feel awful to actually type with
looks a very cheap price, most other sellers are charging twice that price.

I want one. For $20 you can't go wrong. Could be very handy for remote controlling many apps and may allow control of lots of games, etc I can't otherwise control because of lack of hard keys. When can we order??
