Tytn II Dial Up Networking (USB modem)

Hello everybody,
I have to ask a pretty dumb question I've searched this forum looking for the possible solution, but since I ended up empty-handed, I've decided to write a quick post and ask for help.
Simply, this is the problem: I need to use my Kaiser as an USB dial-up modem to connect to the Internet, as I've decided to try out T-Mobile 'Mobile Internet' service. You have to use the special Data SIM card, connect USB modem, pass additional parameters from your computer (at+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet-prepaid"), and dial *99***1#. I know that 'Internet sharing' option on Kaiser functions the other way -- you connect to the 3G network on the device, and then connect it with your computer..
After trying about a billion different drivers, configuration settngs and hacks, I've given up, and decided to cry out for help -- or any suggestion at all
Thanks in advance!
Any luck?

Whats the OS on your computer? I generally start internet sharing, press the connect button and then hook it up to my laptop, no issues? Can you tell us what exactly happens when you try and connect?

HTC Diamond Problem

Hello guys, since it is my first post I'd like to say "What a wonderful forum!" Thanks for letting lamers like me be here...
I have a problem with my newly bought HTC Diamond..I don't know what and why happens but as soon as I connect the phone to my laptop via USB cable and activesync program, my Wi-Fi goes dead ASAP..it hangs on Acquiring network address and it gets one after a while but no traffic neither on my pc nor on my pda when I disconnect the pda I continue without internet on my pc...I have to restart for it to come and the process repeats itself over and over again
Thanks in advance for your help.
I used to have that problem with my thinkpad and my old smartphone.
Try settings -> all settings -> connections -> USB to PC
and turn off 'enable advanced network functionality'
errr try:
1) performing a hard reset on your Diamond and try this again?
2) try with different laptop?

I think you should try to disable your anti-virus / firewall / internet security program first. i suspect it got something to do it.

I think that is spot on. From what i remember, it was something to do with a 'Security feature' that microsoft implements in async 4, but it only seemed to affect certain intel chipsets (i could be wrong, it's been a while since i saw that happen) for wireless LAN.
Far as i know, there was a USB swithc application made here way back when, that microsoft then copied and put in the roms as USB to PC. hopefully it'll fix your little issue.
Yeah, activsync sets up a virtual network, which drives any connection manager or firewall you have crazy!
Depends on what combination of things your running on your PC.
I remember a similar problem I had and I had to enable Transient Packet Data=Allowed in my firewall. (Outpost Pro).
Thanks guys!
The:
Try settings -> all settings -> connections -> USB to PC
and turn off 'enable advanced network functionality'
did the job.
Thanks again.

I was gonna suggest that but guess you've found it. Looks like a setup or conflict issue with something else on your laptop.

hey guys,
im new here and its also my first ppc.
ive got the following problem:
me (or my ppc) is not able to connect with activesync...
wtf can i do??
plz help me, thx,

Install AS 4.5
Then connect your phone. Windows will first detect it as a new USB device and then AS will kick in and ask to set up a partnership.
Exactly what is going wrong with yours?
so, here we go:

ok, i connest my ppc to the pc, its asking:
harddrive
or
as,
im typing as and its saying there isnt installed as 4.5
and the pc sais: no connection do u want to start the fixing??
(everythings translated by myself from german, plz ignore the faults)
grtz
i read that if you're using a usb hub it would not connect. you must have the usb cable connect straight to your pc's usb port.
and if nothing works the last solution is to hard reset your pocket pc for a frest start and see if it can connect then.

2nd that. Try another USB port on your PC. Sounds like there's either the driver missing (which should only be the case if you do not have Active Sync installed)
OR
try to disable the "Advanced network functionality". Can be found at 'Settings > Connections > USB to PC'. (Einstellungen, Verbindungen, USB zu PC oder so).
Do you have some sort of firewall software?
like, ZoneAlarm or antivirus with firewall?
disable them or allow the port as trusted and you should be fine
jeah,
thanks for this many posts, but ive got all these probs outa my way, these are all the things ive thought they may disturb the connection... but (im sorry) theyre no solution for my fckn prob, as told, my ppc connects to other pcs(with older as)but not to mine with the newest as ...
so, lets think how to manage it...
try rebooting the host PC or just kill mobsync.exe, wmdc.exe and WmdHost.exe in taskmanger. Then open Sync software again. Works for me.
thats an answer
thx a lot, ill try tomorrow...
all the wa<y, sometimes, when i stay the ppc connected and reboot my pc it works, but dont sync anything, its just "connected"...
ill try and post my answer soon.

I think i have found a solution for you.
Follow:
Start Menu > Configuration > Connections > Click on the icon called "USB à ordinateur" (my phone is in french so i think it will be for you " USB" or "USB to PC")
It's written: Choose the connection type to PC
Select active Sync and uncheck the case just under (it is " activate the feature advanced networking")
And that is !!
TRY and say me..
Hi the diamond is my first PPC as well. I connected it in my PC and was able to use it as a HD. however i am having doubts of just unplugging it afterwards but i did just unplugged it after use.
On my second attempt. Diamond notified me if i will sync or use the HD i accidentally hit sync. but it required a password. I unplugged it and the problem beginned.
There is no Start Menu. so i did the soft reset on the red button below the stylus. It worked now, however the home screen does not have the Large Digital Clock now.
Can someone help me to display it back i have tried to check it in the Today menu. however it is still not appearing.
Pls.. help a new PPC user. Thank you.

Try the search engine before you post, recently there where alot of topics on ActiveSync not working. Anyway, the way your PPC will act when you connect it to a USB port can be setup in setting, connections, usb to pc. Mark Diskdrive or ActiveSync.
There you should also unmark the advanced network functionality. Check it off and try again.
Rgds,
Thanks, by the way do you know how to display the Large Digital Clock again in Home. It was lost after i tried to soft reset my hanging Diamond.
Do you think it will appear again if i do a Hard Reset? Thanks.

A Hard Reset should bring it back to it's default value so yes I see no problem there ...

Kaiser stucks - Backup possible?

Hey guys,
I cant find a thread picking up that problem, so I've created one on myself.
My Kaiser stucks at the bootloader (I'm using athine OS) and I really dont want to spent so much time again to configurate the programs and so on..
If I plug in the usb cable, I get a connection with my pc. Is there a way I can 'save my phone's stuff' ?
Thanks a lot!

question about USB to PC connection

Hi,
Every time i connect my td2 to pc's usb the internet sharing application lunches.
How can i restore the default htc wizard that gives you the three options when you connect it to usb:
-Active Sync
-Disk Drive
-Internet Sharing
Thanks
yeah i have the same problem. it started only when i selected internet sharing in that menu. but now internet sharing automatically launches instead of the "ActiveSync, HardDisk, InternetSharing" screen.
Settings / All Settings / Connections / USB to PC and mark last sentence "Ask me first about USB ...."
already did that and still doesn't work...
yeah, tried that several times, even with soft resetting. no luck

i noticed this when i installed an app and it stuffed up.. i had to do a hard reset and it was ok..
sorry to state the obvious..... you guys probably didnt want to do a hard reset...
yes, hard reset pretty much solves all software problems which appear after user changes
i had the same problem last week and it made me crazy
i solved it on my device, perhaps it will work for yours:
i think the netsharing app only startsupa automatically if you disconnect your device from the computer without properly end the connection in the sharing application.
so when internet sharing app pops up, start the connection and then stop it again through the application. then close the app, disconnect your device from your computer and connect it again. now the old three-opt-popup should be visible again.
at least it was on my device
best regards, chris
thanks for your answers i will try that as soon as i get home...
Brilliant, I got this issue today and the aboveforementioned fix works, thanks
aah.. why isnt it working. mine automatically starts activesync and the netwerk sharing. strange stuff xD
hi,
fixed mine yesterday.
i put it in another pc's usb and the wizard appeared. i selected the disk drive option and when i got home it worked on my pc also.
still have no clue, just glad it works it was annoying to always close the internet sharing connection
