G1 Drivers- Please Help me! - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I finally got my unlock code from tmobile today. The code worked fine but now im still unable to register the phone, stuck at the sign up or create screen. For the life of me i cannot get the drivers to install, windows keeps telling me it has the latest installed. The first time i plugged the phone in, i did not even know about USB debugging so i cant even use that at this point. How do i get windows to quit saying it has the latest drivers installed and use my own? ive tried just about everything. I even tried using a XP laptop and it automatically used its own drivers. I need to activate the wifi to continue registering this phone but without these drivers im stuck. Please advise!

anyone? ive tried this <enter>setprop persist.service.adb.enable 1<enter> and it does nothing on the phone or pc. The pc refuses to accept the drivers. It keeps on installing its own drivers.

me too...where did u get that from....wat is that supposed to do?

Just manually delete the drivers then install the drivers you want. This happened to me 2.

i went to device manager, choose the device. Uninstall the drivers, restarted the pc and plug the G1 in and still no go. Vista did the same thing, installed its own drivers. Did it on my dad's XP laptop as well and did the same thing. I can't turn on USB debugging if i can't get pass the Registration screen!

Choose UPDATE DRIVER, then specifically point it to the driver. Not just to the folder expanded folder, point it directly to the appropriate driver itself. Pick the right architecture folder (such as AMD64). I cannot emphasize enough not to let Windows search for an appropriate driver. You need to point it to the folder that contains the right .inf file.

i downloaded the usb drivers from off this site and i did what u said and it still gives me the same junk! damnit!!

you say you are stuck at the registration screen - do you not have a skip registration button, allowing you to get into the main OS. or, if you press menu can you not enter APN settings? that will allow you to register successfully

Ok then,
What rom are you using?
What version?
What radio?
What SPL?
What SDK?
You know, the basics.

Diamond with non-bundled AS?

Hey All.
I am on vacation, and just brougth a new notebook (lovely Medion Akoya), and i want to sync with my diamond. However, i downloaded the active sync from the ms homepage, and i get the "Unrecognized device" error all the time.
Yes, i tried to use different cables, yes i tried to deactivate the advanced network, however, i doesnt seem to recognize it at all.
Even if i do a softreset + volume down, i just get the SPL1-40 screen, but eventhou my phone is plugged in the USB, it doesnt say that, only "serial" when i disconnect.
I've been searching this forum the entire day, and i cant seem to find a solution. So, i kindly ask the gurus help me
Diamond running 0.95 bePe and pc running xp sp3.
Kind regards, Heien.
Try to flash a stock ROM and check if you run into the same problem.
In order to sync, you must be running the handset normally, don't enter bootloader mode.
Did the system prompt you for drivers the first time you connected it to the PC? Activesync 4.5 provides the rndis drivers.
the problem is, i cant even flash my device, i tried to flash it, but i get a connection error with the tool.
I know about the bootloadermode, and that i am not able to sync in that state, but i just wanted my pc/diamond to recognize the connection between them. The system did not prompt me for drivers, it just went straigth to unrecognized device. i even tried to point the the driverupdate tool to the drivers folder with the rndis drivers in the as folder.
-i also tried to hardreset my device.
Try doing the same on a fresh stock XP install, without firewall or anything similar.
We need to figure out if it's a problem with the handset itself or your OS/PC.
Try another USB port (DON'T use hubs).
Enter bootloader mode. When you connect it to the USB, it should at least toggle from serial to usb.
If that's the case, at least your USb is working well.

PLEASE HELP, Computer is not recognizing my Galaxy S

Just got my phone into download mode after using the jig, and i have been able to connect to my pc before i seriously F'd my phone by messing with a setting in cwm. I have downloaded and redownloaded drivers from samsungs website, along with installing Kies and that does not recognize my phone. (also i would like to add i am unable to access the phone since it wont turn on without the jig, without jig it just goes into a boot loop.)
THis is what happens when i plug my phone into the computer:
plug in usb (to computer and phone)
let it do its thing to recognize device...
pop-up stating "unknown device" so i click it.
then right-click the unknown device which opens up another window
from this menu it shows Install driver, Update driver and 3 other options.
when i press install driver and update driver, it tells me that the driver is already installed in "device unknown."
At this point i throw computer at wall after 2 days of trying to figure this out.
so messed around and the problem only happens when it is in download mode. but when it is not in download mode it shows up but no use to me because i am trying to flash it to stock. soo i dont know why the error 43 only shows up when in download mode. any help would be great.

Just follow this to update the drivers http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27205737&postcount=4571 , same thing as what you have done earlier but this time , when it searches for new drivers, you can do the selection for it.
But first reboot your PC after pulling out power cord ...and try the quick solutions first
Ok sen, so i tried to install the driver manually but i am stuck at the part where i have to install something on my phone to allow it to sync with the computer, since my phone will not even boot up. I am starting to think my dear Capi is going to be a paper weight =(

[Q] One is not recognized by computer

Hey guys !
For some days my One just won't be recognized by my computer anymore. I neither changed anything on my computer nor on the smartphone. It's currently running ARHD 7.2 and my computer is on windows 7 Pro x64.
I already tried reinstalling HTC Sync Manager, completely removing the drivers using the device manager and I even tried installing several standalone drivers provided in the forums here at xda. Switching USB ports and USB-Debugging didn't improve anything, too.
Windows explorer just shows the HTC Sync Manager install disc but not the MTP Device, the driver install wizard says everytime i plug the phone in that the installation of an HTC MTP Device wasn't successful.
Also in the device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark on the device entry and it says that the device doesn't work correctly because Windows couldn't load the required drivers for the device. (Error code 31) (Free translation from german )
HTC Sync Manager even shows that there is an HTC One connected but i can't sync it and it doesnt show the device capacity.
The weird thing is that also the One X of my girlfriend isnt recognized by the computer, but on her computer running windows 8 x64, both devices are working correctly.
Thanks in advance
Have you turned on usb debugging
Tried both with and without usb-debugging on, but didn't change anything
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191279
Turn on usb debugging and change the cable that can work here is the link for drivers if it don't work
Even with the drivers from this thread, another cable and usb debugging on, it just doesnt work.
Strangely the phone is recognized at myphoneexplorer and I also can copy data from there, but I don't see my phone in windows explorer

Sounds like you have another driver in the system that is being used and not letting the computer load the HTC driver you need to copy stuff. Not to bad to fix.
Plug the phone into the computer.
First get to device manager. Control Panel/System/Device manager (right side)
Find the device the ONE is listed as should be toward the bottom under USB might have a yellow triangle on it. Right click on this device and go to uninstall. Make sure to select to delete everything (little check box) and after it finishes restart the computer. Unplug the phone and then install the HTC drivers linked above. Plug phone in and pray. If it doesn't work after that try another reset and if still nothing let us know.
I prayed like hell and still it doesn't work
Although I uninstalled the old drivers correctly, restarted my system and installed the new htc drivers, it still tries to install another driver when plugging in my phone.
USB Debug is turned on, and my antivir is deactivated, I'm really running out of ideas what to do next....

Phone won't connect to HTC Sync or adb

Got my phone about a week ago & got pretty bored of it so I wanted to root it and get a different ROM going. For some reason, I can't get the phone to connect to HTC Sync Manager though I updated the drivers. Any time the phone is switched into USB debugging, My HTC drivers fail to install. I have no idea how to solve this problem. Also when trying to get the Token ID using the command prompt, the device doesn't show up after using the command adb devices either. Need help please.
In bootloader you should type fastboot devices not adb devices.
You can try this to get the drivers installed correctly
On your PC go to device manager and find your phone(usually M7WLS), right click and select properties
Select the driver tab
Select update driver
Select browse my comp
Let me pick
Look for ADB USB device or similar should be one of the first couple choices
Select MyHTC install and you should be good
Also try these drivers http://d-h.st/FXC

If the phone doesn't have USB debugging enabled, it doesn't appear in the device manager besides under portable devices. Once USB debugging is turned on, Android devices tab appears at the top but the drop down reads My HTC with the yellow triangle with ! on the inside indicating there's some sort of issue. I tried updating the drivers, uninstalling the drivers, restarting the phone and computer, then reinstalling the drivers but nothing has worked thus far. HTC Sync still isn't detecting the phone at all and I can't get the Token ID to continue the rooting process until the device is able to be detected.

Strangely enough, I literally just tried it on a different computer and everything worked exactly as it was supposed to. I had 3 computers in my home, none of which worked but got to work and the laptop they gave me worked just fine. Then I got on my gf's Mac and it went mostly smooth (even though it was difficult not being as familiar with the OS). My advice is do everything you're doing on a different computer until you see it without the ! in the device manager.

My experience may be helpful. I had no ADB driver, but Composite USB seemed to work. However, the driver install crashed. I needed to open my phone and answer the dialogs on my phone while the driver was installing. After that, everything is hunky-dorry (I know, showing my age).
I was having the same problem until I UNCHECKED the USB debugging mode and reconnected the phone to the computer. Drivers reinstalled and HTC Sync Manager (not HTC Sync--different program) recognized the phone. I had to answer dialogue on phone and then the USB debugging mode status changed itself to enabled. It's all working now, after hours of fiddling.

device not found in recovery

some assistance please.
I've been at it for about 40 minutes now, trying to sideload 5.1 onto the N6. Go me! Unfortunately I have come to a halt due to my computer not being able to recognize my device in recovery mode. I have the nexus root tool kit installed on my Win7 PC and i have done all the steps as far as driver installation and the toolkit says it is a success. I even open up command prompt when the device is turned on and type "adb devices" and it gives me the device info, I can even use my explorer to see the files I have in storage on the device too. Now if I type the same command while the device in in recovery mode, my computer tells me the device is not found. I have since downloaded the google drivers and tried updating the driver manually through Device Manager and that tells me that the drivers are up to date/best driver is already installed etc. So after goofing with that for a few tries, I uninstalled ALL nexus/google drivers and reinstalled them, twice now, with the same result.
Am I doing something wrong? Why does my computer not want me to update? why does it hate me?

When you get the device not found error, unplug USB and reconnect. May have to repeat once or twice.

Tried that like it was going out of style lol. No luck.
i finally got it figured out!!
i used the toolkit and install;ed Universal Google Drivers (option #3) and my pc was finally able to detect my device in recovery mode.
so if anyone comes across the same problem of not having the "right" drivers or not having your device detected,
1.) Install Universal Google Drivers and reboot your computer
2.) proceed to sideload your update.
