New SD Card (what to do)...

So i ordered a new Class 6 SD Card.
Before this i was on the stock 1GB SD card that came with the G1 with an ext2 partition, and running the latest Cyan mod.
Basically i was just wondering what i need to do when my new card comes. I know i need to partition it to FAT32, and then i was gonna do ext3, and a linux swap. Can i just use sdparted script to do this?
And finally i was gonna try a Hero rom now that i have the SD card that is actually capable of running it. I push it with adb and just flash after partitioning, right?
Is there any way of getting my apps back or am i going to have reinstall everything again? I don't REALLY mind doing all over again, but it'd be nice not to have to. And if it's possible, how?
Thanks for any help/clarification...
dear ally,
there is a app that allows you to back up apps..
p.s. i apologize im not a native speaker..of how do u say..umm ur motherlan
Yes.
First re-partition the card using parted from the recovery menu or using the Amon-Ra Recovery. There are instructions for that littered everywhere in the Q&A and the Developer's forum, just use the search.
To use the Hero ROMs you need to flash the Danger SPL unless you plan on using MicroHero with HardSPL. If you want to use any of the new Hero ROMs they will require the Danger SPL and note the bold. Look up the proper instructions for flashing the SPL before actually diving in.
And no. You don't need to re-install everything. Just use switchrom or BART to make a backup as it will also make a backup of your ext partition. After backing up, just restore it after transferring everything from the FAT32 partition of your old sdcard to the new one.
I just checked and i have 1.33.2005 SPL. I believe that's the correct one, right?
I just tried to push Bart to system/sd...i'm pretty sure i did it right but when i try to store my ext it says it can't open the file.
What am i doing wrong?

Thank you very much...that seems to have worked
I really like this recovery image too
No problem man, glad to have helped.
Download Amon_Ra's new recovery image and look for the 3 way partition option...once partioned, do a data wipe, drag and drop your rom of choice in .zip format onto the root of your sd card and rename it to "update"
Backup for Root users works well for restoring your apps. it can be found in the marketplace. I believe there is a donate version and a free version.

I need the original zip

Does anyone here have the original 1.5 Android update zip? I need it. I need to restore back to default factory setting. I am currently on console recovery, and I have a SD card reader as well.
Does my SD card needs to be fat, fat32, or exfat? Thanks.

Someone else correct me if I'm wrong, but....
I think you need the DREAIMG.nbh file if you want to restore back to factory defaults.
Once you get that (just google the file name)
Boot into the bootloader (camera+power) and allow it to do it's thing
I really don't think you can use the update.zip from a replacement recovery screen
huh?
I am on Android System Recovery Utility. I erased the system settings/factory reset.
I was trying to install eclair 2.0-1.2 but I don't know HOW I can format my SDcard to eta3, google doesn't answer the question effectively (SORRY!!!!!!!!).
I need this answers:
1) Where do I download rc29 update? Where and how? The developers website won't let me download 1.5 image because the link is grey out. Pisses me off.
2) How do I format my SDcard to linux eta3 in Windows 7? Please tell me!
#1. thats the ADP image and not what you want.
#2. You cant format to ext3 in windows 7 with default programs.
Guys please..
All I am asking is:
1) I need 1.5 update... please.. I am begging you guys. I am very frustrated with my G1. Again, I am on my Android System Recovery Utility. I want to be able to put my 1.5 on my SDcard reader, put it in my G1, and update it from there. SIMPLE. That's it, I made a big mistake of formatting my G1 in the first place.
Please, I am begging you guys, please HELP ME OUT! Thank you!

If you have "rooted" your phone and you want to get everything back to it's default state, then you would want to download DREAIMG.nbh format your sdcard to fat32 and boot into the bootloader as explained above
You can find the RC29 DREAIMG.nbh file
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EMY1HIVU
You only need to have an ext3 partition if you're rooting your phone and using a rom that has apps2sd, if that's the case you can read how to create the partitions by following this link
http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news/how-to-manually-partition-your-sd-card-for-android-apps2sd/

Can you provide a link for instructions on updating to RCA29 via bootloader? I am on the screen and the only thing I see right now it says serial0. Thanks. I already put DREAMAIMG.nbh file in my SDcard via reader. Now what?

The bootloader should recognize the file
A Couple things to keep in mind
Are you in the US on T-Mobile, RC29 is for the US version of Dream
Did you extract the zip and make sure it is named DREAIMG.nbh just like so
Try formatting the card again as fat32, maybe try a full format as opposed to a quick format
Guys, I am stuck on red, green, blue, and white screen. Nothing is happening, how do I turn if off?
I downloaded the file form the link you provided. I didn't change the filename, just drag and drop to my sdcard. My tombile is from US. Yes.
I forgot to extract it, I thought I had to put the zip file in first. Sorry.

Either take the batter out or Call + Menu + End key should reboot the phone.
Make sure you rename the file appropriately, and then reflash the DREAM image.

The link I provided you pointed to a .zip file
Extract the file and make sure you place DREAIMG.nbh onto the sdcard
To reboot the phone from the colored screen you can press call+menu+power or pull the battery
When the file is on a properly formatted card, and readable as DREAIMG.nbh you will prompted by another screen that will allow you to restore your phone
I got it, thanks!
Now.. I would LOVE to install eclair 2.0-1.2 but alias I need to have eta3 table installed on my SDcard.
Any ideas how to accomplish that?
To install manups eclair rom (I believe that's the one you're referring to)
You need to root your phone
You can follow this guide
http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news/how-to-root-a-t-mobile-g1-and-mytouch-3g-android-phone/
Since you've already applied the downgrade skip down to the section titled
B2. Replace the recovery image
If you follow the guide exactly you'll have Cyanogen's Recovery image, if you use that recovery you can follow the guide below to create an ext partition on your sdcard
http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news/how-to-manually-partition-your-sd-card-for-android-apps2sd/
If you deviate slightly from the guide you use Amon_RA's recovey image (just look for it under the development section for Dream's here on XDA), you can use Amon_RA's recovery to create the ext partition for you automatically
Once you have your recovery image installed and your ext partition setup then you can apply the rom you downloaded for manups eclair
Edit: I just looked at the thread for that ROM, it states you need to have Haykuro's SPL AKA The Danger SPL installed, this SPL has is known to brick phones if not installed properly
Having that information if you still feel you want to proceed, after installing your custom recovery you can follow the links in my signature for radio/spl to get the files
1) install radio first allow phone to reboot it will take a minute or three, be patient don't pull battery
2) Install SPL allow phone to reboot, once again it will take a minute while it writes the files
then you can apply your rom
*Once again many people have bricked their phones installing this file, make sure you are comfortable installing it before trying and aware of the risks, if you're phone bricks, it's not mine or anyone elses fault that you attempted this mod, you assume all responsibilty (just wanted to throw that in there, because there are literally hundred's of bricked phones from failed spl updates)

[Q] problem in flashing new rom from the SD

Dear all,
I have downloaded and run the hard_spl on my Xperia X1 and flashed the rom ROM successfully, and I have downloaded the 28244 sencity energyrom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562935 and copied it on the root of my SD.
when I enter the bootloader screen to flash from the SD I get the message
" No image file! "
I have followed the instructions and made sure that the image is on the root of the SD and made sure the image name is KOVSIMG.nbh as instructed.
please advice.
thanks and regards,
Solved.
the SD format must be FAT32 in order to flash.
special thanks to all the XDA developers who made the roms and the guids happens.

Would have been wise to read a bit more about the µSD flashing method - glad you finally found it yourself.

Re-“Stocking” system

Hello everyone, I am new on forum and this help urgently so I have to ask this here..
I was updating to gingerbread following this tut and had problems with last step which is "Re-“Stocking” Yer System…". The actual problem is that I transfer my .zip to tab and later in Recovery mode I can't find it "“install zip from sdcard”.
Is there any other way to do this or where's the problem cuz I am pretty sure I know that I've put file there lol
Did you put the zip on internal or external?
Why dont you just use odin/heidmill to flash the stock gb

First step is "install zip from sd card" then "choose zip from sd card". in the last step even if it is on the external sd you will be able to find it. Done several times with the zip on a folder I created on the external sd called downloaded.

[Q] How to install new ICS 28e Leak?

I know the question which I am asking is stupid but still I need some clarifications. As I am not able to post on any on the threads hence I have created this question.
Currently I am on lite version as per following
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1959545
now if I wish to go for full version it is suggested that I should increase the /system partition size of 512+ mb
As I am not a programmer I am always searching for some threads which are user friendly and help me achieve my target.
I searched for
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1969797&highlight=nvflash+system+partition
Now the questions?
1. will this tool format my internal sd card? if so I need to take back up on external SD card and then I need to flash it again?
2. will it change my existing CWM recovery option and do I need to make the installation again?
Awaiting your answers.

Hi,
1) yes this will format completely your internal SD, because the resizes your memory (partitions).
2) Yes this will delete CWM, you have to do the installation again. You will need the attached CWM version for the ICS leak,
because the partion layout is completely different to GB.
With the toolkit attached to provided here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1969797&highlight=nvflash+system+partition
you can restore your GB partitions.
-You have to do a nandroid backup first. Backup your internal SD.
-With NVflash you can restore your GB partion layout and restore your CWM backup.
