Custom Ringtone for Google Voice Calls?

Hey Guys,
I was trying to find out if there is a way that you can set a custom ringtone for all calls that come into your Google Voice number. I know theres an option on the GV website where you can have the call either show the number that is calling or to show your GV number on your phone.
I just want to identify what calls are coming in and why they are contacting me (my GV number is more of a business/job line for when I submit resumes and stuff). Anybody have any ideas or am i missing that option somewhere? Thanks.
have their number pass through. you can set custom ringtones on your phone for that number. or, you can set up a custom voicemail for whomever may be calling, or by group, on google voice. just send them to voicemail.
afaik there isn't a way to set up custom ringtones through google voice, because google voice doesn't have control of your phone.

Google Voice as your VM.

Just recently started using GV for my voicemails (TMO)
Loved it...
My problem is that I only use my GV number for specific functions/people.
If I missed an incoming call it was easy to tell if the person was calling my cel or my GV. But with GV as my VM service I cant differentiate.
All my calls now appear in the GV app. Is there anyway to figure out which number the person is trying to reach while still using GV as my VM ?
No, and why should it? As long as they're contacting you, why does it matter which number they're dialing?

What you cold do (just speculation) is have a forwarding app that separates via contacts, if XYZ contact calls you then it conditional forwards it to your GV voicemail other wise if ABC contact calls then it routes you to your default VM. Im not sure there is an app to do this but i cant imainge there not being a call forwarding app.

Then why have 2 numbers since theyre just dialing me anyways ?
Some people I will pick up for others I will send to VM. Id like to know who the new number is trying to reach my "work" persona or my "home" persona.
Ill look into call forwarding.
This would be moot if Tmo visual voicemail worked over wifi or GV had the same bubble for incoming as it does for outgoing.

[Q]Editing preset voicemail contact

I use Google Voice for voicemail, so I have no use for the stock voicemail app. I would like to change speed dial number 1 to call my Google Voice number, but it I cannot edit the voicemail contact in the People app.
prior to Ice Cream Sandwich, it used to be possible to change the voicemail password by putting the dialer app in programming mode. I've done that, but the contact remains *62.
anybody have the current workaround?
Weird. I just installed the latest Google Voice update and it offered the option to change my voicemail number.
I entered my GV number, along with my password and necessary pauses, and now Speed Dial #1 dials my GV voicemail instead of the Verizon number.

Are you fully integrated? I had problems with GV a few months back. Had to disable completely through the .com and then removed the app. After that I reinstalled the app and did not do full integration. In rereading the other poster's comments I think you were right, it sounds like he was referring to the app not the .com. My bad.

Try deleting the Apps cache and data and that should start setup again.
yup i probably gotta uninstall and not integrate i think i did that thanks guys
fixed it. it was integrated with sprint pressed ok too fast or something when i first set it up i got it set up the way i like thanks guys
Uninstall voice then reboot. Then reinstall. When configuring (normal setup it does) you will be giving an option to choose when google voice makes calls. I choose "international only" and now my normal cell number is active but hangouts dialer works for gvoice number.
There is also an option in hangouts to ring voice directly to hangouts. Uncheck it if you want.

Google Voice working correctly on Note 5?

According to the link below, the use of Google Voice (particularly with problems making outgoing calls) on the Note 5 may have been affected by the update to Android 5.1 in recent months:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/voice/7v4o62rCRfI;context-place=topicsearchin/voice/5.1.1$20update
After doing some reading it looks like the problem could be specific to the DOK2 baseband version and for T-mobile users (I'm on T-mobile and took the latest OTA update and my baseband is COKC). I'm just wondering if any of you are using Google Voice regularly, particularly to make outgoing calls with your with you GV number, and having any problems? I'm looking to port my number over to GV and want to make sure this isn't an issue first...
Hi, I have found only a slight work around, I've been having issues with GV on note 4 running DOK2. I get the "call not sent" error. The easier workaround I've found is to have your contacts text your Google voice number, make sure you're not using hangouts and have your Google voice text messages routed to your native messaging app. When you receive a text you will see a foreign number at the top. +123456789 save that number as the contact who texted you default number, then anytime you call that person it will ring using your Google voice number, as long as you use the + number
