Hey all,
so i have two very strange issues...
1. Bluetooth OBEX - I can send FROM the phone to any device (That supports it) but I cannot send anything TO the phone from any device. Typically i will get a generic "Device does not support OBEX" error message
-- I have tried sending paired, and not paired
-- I have verified that filesharing is on, and all of my bluetooth options are enabled
2. SMS's not in order - When I installed my current rom (see my sig) And used PIM restore to put my SMS's back, they are not in the order that the conversation happened. If you look @ each day. the messages appear their's first for the day, then mine... its kinda weird.
-- In some instances I dont even see the messages that were sent to me. When I tried making PIMBackup to restore the messages again it said they were already there. I have received some new SMS"s that I dont want to wipe out if I can avoid it but i've never seen this before and it makes no sense
Another thing.. where do I edit the size of text on context menu's ? (asside from the start menu which was using LargeStartMenu)

Hi there,
1.Not all devices are bluetooth 2.0 compliant and I have the same problem sending from older devices.
2. SMS's order can be set in main screen. Select Received on top right
3.Text size can be changed under Start>Settings>System>Screen
There is a tab for font size at the bottom with a slide bar. I have set mine to 2nd last notch from right.
Hope this helps.

Hey MAC, thanks for the reply
for the bluetooth item, this is from my brand new dell laptop or even another att tilt. Even my friends 8125 that was working on some other roms i have problems with now.
the SMS issue is not on the inbox screen its on the actual message history screen. So if I click on an item in my inbox it brings up the coversation thread. In there it shows all of my friends messages first then the ones I sent in reply so instead of .... them... me .. .them.. me. its them... them.. them.. me .. me.. me ... its kind of weird
I had already checked the text size on the screen page. It was set to normal, but the menu's are still huge (see screenshot)

I see re the bluetooth issue. Nt sure as my laptop sends and receives fine from my TyTN II.
If you are using threaded sms then I can't help as I have normal one.
I see you are also using WK Task which comes with the Kaiser. I have removed that and opted for Quickmenu. It is MUCH better, smaller and gives you cascading menus like in Windows XP/Vista. It is also freeware. (File attached). Just place all the files in the zip archive to a folder anywhere on your device, create shortcut if you want, but I suggest you place a shortcut in the startup folder.

Yah I've been working on the BT issue since yesterday with no luck
I am using threaded SMS which is why its annoying me that the messages are not appearing in order...
I use WK task in tandem with QuickMenu... I love quick menu, but I still cant figure out how to fix the font sizes... its every context menu not just the tray apps... even my resco context menu is huge and i have to scroll it to do stuff its kind of irritating
Thanks for the suggestions tho, I hope someone has a solution for me, I really like this rom and dont want to change it
Ok So I just discovered that I am completely retarded and forgot to check the "Accept all incoming beams" option in the beam control panel applet... now, how do I go about fixing my SMS messaging issue and chaning the fonts for the menus? They are HUGE!

Yup when I restore my Messages its not in order. I truly believe its because of how PIM restores the Messages. All Received First Then all Sent. So to the Device it IS in order. I've posted this thought in the PIM Backup thread. I don't think they've got it figured out yet. Sorry.

Actually I just finished fixing the PIM Backup issue too.. its kind of a known issue with 6.1 If you restore everything but your messaging DB. Clear your messaging DB in the messaging app. Terminate the messaging app process then run PIM restore... run the messaging app and let it rebuild the threads it seems to work.. Also make sure that you set your regional date settings to what your normally set it to BEFORE you run PIM backup... some people believe that this may also be the issue.... so process is...
1. Flash
2. Restore all of your data using PIM backup EXCEPT messages
3. Open messaging and clear your SMS boxes
4. Terminate the messaging application
5. Do your PIM Restore
6. Open mesaging
Worked for me!
1 more issue to go and thats the large menu font size!
here is the thread (and post) I found it on : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1903404&highlight=Create+threads.#post1903404

Yup that only works 40% of the time for me.
Since threaded sms arrive with WM6.1 it seems that it has been difficult to get PIM Backup to restore your messages properly threaded on a consistent basis. Now many people will advise you to just delete your sms, but if you are a person who likes to keep them (like myself) then that simply is not an acceptable option. Through a lot of trial and error i have arrived at a process that seems to work well and work consistantly across many roms. Below is a brief tutorial of the steps I follow in order to restore my sms messages using PIM Backup:
You will need Kaisertweak to follow these instructions, and as such i have attached the cab to this post. Please remember to donate the the developers who bring you all of this fine software as a sign of your appreciation for all that they do for you.
Perform the following steps:
1) Disable threading using Kaisertweaks.
2) Kill sms/mms process using task manager (tmail.exe)
3) Restore messages using PIM Backup
4) Open to see they were restored correctly (meaning the right number of messages are in the inbox/outbox)
5) Soft-reset your device.
6) Enable threading using Kaisertweaks.
7) Open sms/mms, if the inbox appears empty then messages start appearing then do nothing as the device is threading your messages. Just wait till it is done. If this is not happening then go to step 8.
8) Kill sms/mms process (tmail.exe) using task manager, and open sms/mms again. This time you should definitely see the message threading.
Please let me know if this works for you, or if you have any suggestions of what to add or how to make this post clearer (for suggestions i'd prefer them by PM)
***EDIT***
I have also found that PowerSMS does a great job of rethreading your SMS messages as well as PIMBackup, so if you have troubles getting this to work with PIMBackup, then try that program. I will outline the steps I followed:
1) Disable threading
2) Kill tmail.exe
3) Make Backup using PowerSMS
4) Flash new rom
5) Disable threaded SMS & kill tmail.exe
6) Restore SMS
7) Enable Threading
8) Leave the phone alone while it rethreads the messages, can take up to 10 minutes depending on how many messages you have. I restored over 3,000.
***UPDATE***
It has been reported that you do not need to disable threading if you are using PowerSMS. This means you can do the following:
1) Kill tmail.exe
2) Make Backup using PowerSMS
3) Flash new rom
4) Restore SMS
5) Leave the phone alone while it rethreads the messages, can take up to 10 minutes depending on how many messages you have.
Didn't try it yet, but thanks!
I have tried many of these methods, but restoring always put my sent messages first and my received messages after.
In the alternative, I recommend Jeyo SMS Backup as it restores threading properly without a hassle.
Nice guide mate, so obvious now you've posted it, why didn't I think of this
This method has also had limitted success: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1903404&postcount=749
I would add this to the PIM backup thread if I were you and maybe PM DotFred to get it on the first post. (Or get a mod to do it if they can)
A Couple of things...
Where is the aformentioned attachment?
What is the SMS/MMS process, TMail.exe I assume?

Just wanted to say that I tried this method and it worked perfectly
Had around 1500 text messages, so it took about 10-15 minutes on the new rom to load them all back into the threaded sms, but finally all was good again
Thanks!

Thank you for the feedback. I also have 1500+ sms at any given time so i was glad to find a method that finally worked as well.
Seems like it's working.
But with the non-threaded sms i can see the time and date on each text message.
In the threaded sms style, you can only see the time from the day you're on. Older text messages just have the date.
Is there a fix for this ?

There should be a way, because the information is still there, somewhere. I know, because I use Extreme Text, which is just a nicer interface for doing threaded text messaging (uses the same data, doesn't disturb normal Messaging program) - and all the times of day are there for all messages going back several months.
Yeah,
If you disable threaded sms and you restore all your text messages you still have the dates and times, it's just not shown in the default threaded.
Great thread pal. Tried it and worked perfectly. Always had problems restoring messages and the dates and times always were distorted....Not anymore though. Thanks
I'm glad this is helping people out. Thank you all for your confirmations.
Just a quick note, this worked for me as well using PIMBackup. I used Advanced Config instead of KaiserTweak. Such a simple solution, but I'm glad you thought of it.
worked perfectly.....
thanks for the share
for some reason my MMS msgs from windows 5 would not transfer :/ on some of the roms i had it work some how, but i tried to create a "MMS" account with fake email stuff and set it to manual so it would not try to get info or download and it seems to have fooled it, for a sec, you see the subject and the size of the file but when you open them they are blank :/
im wondering if there is any way to move them outside of that MMS account to the real sms/mms folder?
is there any way to read the pimbackup in desktop computer and extract those msgs?
when i mean it doesnt work it simply says during restore process that the MMS account does not exist and all files will be ignored

this seem like an excellent thread. however i am havign a few problems. when i do PIM restore, it says it had retreived about over 4000 files. after restore i check my messages. most, if not, all of them r just messages that i have sent. i have waited over an hour and none of the messages i got from my friends are showing up. how ever, i see in the preview the first 100 text that are from my friends but not in the threaded
edit*
ok it seems that i have got all the text messages on the phone. however, the order is all off. some of them shows the recieved messages before all of my sent ones, and some of them vice versa. some of them has the dates going b ackwards. can someone help me on this?
anyone? =[
The way I do it is very simple and has worked every time across multiple hard-resets. The key is to do all your backup and restoring in CLASSIC mode, not THREADED mode.
1) Set text messaging from threaded to classic
2) PPCPimBackup all text messaging
3) Perform hard-reset
4) Set text messaging from threaded to classic AGAIN after hard-reset
5) Restore PPCPimBackup
6) Set text messaging back to threaded!
I have only tried this on my Touch Pro but it has worked multiple times. If you skip any step when going from threaded to classic you get the problem where the threaded messages are all out of order. Also if you receive new un-backed up messages after the hard reset the restore will work as long as you configure text messaging to classic before restoring.
When restoring sms with more then 4000 it appears that the really long ones don't rethread correctly.. all the others will but the ones with a lot loads the received first followed by all the sent.. is there a fix for this?
Hey guys, I've got a problem.
So I made a PIMbackup of all my sms's. I then flashed my phone to another ROM and tried restoring the sms's. Didn't seem to work properly, so I then hard reset the phone and disabled SMS threading. I then restored the texts from the backup file, and then re-enabled threading.
Now, all the texts are there, however, they're pretty much sorted according to date.
For example, if I had a sms convo of about 5 msgs back and forth between a friend and I, it's sorted by that day where it has all of their messages first (incoming) and then my messages after (outgoing).
So they are threaded, but they're split into incoming then outgoing for each day per person.
Does anyone know how to fix this? It doesn't seem to be threading properly...does anyone have or had a similar problem? Thanks!

Hi guys,
I got a new Diamond to replace my old Trinity.
I backed up and restored everythiong using PIMBackup, but after restoring to Diamond everything is a mess. In the Inbox folder I have my received messages threaded, but all the outgoing messages are in the Sent items folder non threaded. Anyone got a solution for this problem?
I am using Swtos latest rom 1.6
Thanks in advance!

PIMBackup does not restore Threaded SMS.
Better solution would have been something like Jeyo Mobile Companion.

about your problem....I never had any trouble caused by PIMBackup...what you can do....give it another try:
1. when you have the option to choose which account and folders to restore, I usually select only my inbox and untick the rest (you can have a look for yourself whatever you prefer)
2. At the restore options menu choose for this option: 'Delete all existing messages from the database'
Hope this works for you...please let me know

Hi again guys,
Thank you very much for your replies.
I tried backing upo only the Inbox folder from the Trinity and restoring it to the Diamond using PIMBackup, but only the incoming messages were restored, so I couldn't test the threading.
I also used Mobile Companion to backup and restore all the messages but I still have the same problem. The threading works only for the incoming messages and the sent messages are stored in the sent items folder without threading. I tried it on different ROMS but the results were the same. :-(
Any other idea?
gus
I think this is normal behaviour for the Diamond. Inbox is the only folder that displays threaded (including some sent messages) and all the other folders appear normal unthreaded.
Seems logical to me, you would only visit the other folders if you were looking for a specific individual item.
PIMBackup does NOT restore threaded sms, you have to set it up awkwardly prior to backing up to revert to threaded sms however and this is how you do it:
1. Turn off threaded sms
2. make the PIMBackup
3. on the new ROM, turn off threading
4. restore PIMBackup
5. enable threading again

You have to create the OEM folder yourself but apart from that it seems to work okay.

You don't need to turn off threaded sms before backup
I did a backup of my SMS before reading this thread so hadn't turned off threaded sms before doing it. It doesn't seem to matter. All that matters is you disable threading before doing the restore and then turn it back on afterwards. Seems to be ok for me. Also I didn't have to do any soft resets or anything. I just had to kill tmail.exe before disabling and re-enabling.
Cheers,
Ashley
That did it for me too, disable, restore, enable.
Even without killing tmail.exe
Under WM6.5

i think you have to delete every sms...then (with new messages) you can see SMS threading as default..
Is there any cab file out there for the AT&T tilt that would allow a message that can't be sent, due to no service, or receiving another text at the same time, ect... Is there any cab that would allow me a message resend button as opposed to having to open the drafts, open the text, send the text, open back up the inbox...?
If this doesn't exist, can anyone capable of writing code create me this hack? It would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advanced!
windows mobile 6.1 + "threaded" text messaging
if you are using a WinMo 6.1 ROM, threaded text messaging is enabled by default (if not enabled, use KaiserTweak to enable threaded messaging).
i clearly remember (because it has happened with me TWICE) that the threaded messaging view will display any unsent messages (within the thread) in RED color and will provide a clickable link labeled "Try again"...the function of the link is self explanatory
the combination of events you are talking about (sending a message exactly when receiving a message and/or a phone call) is RARE but it DOES happen...fortunately, i don't mind using the threaded messaging view and i get the resend link (in case of transmission failure for whatever reason) as a bonus
hope this helps...good luck!
It's not necessiarily rare to me as I text all the time, haha. I know what you're talking about, but I don't like threaded text messaging. It becomes slow and sluggish after a while. I highly appreciate the suggestion though!
Does anybody know of a program that would allow this tweak?
Quite some time since I used Arcsoft but didnt they have a resend feature (could be some of the later ed.)? Or am I wrong and it was a feature on 6.1? If it was on 6.1 you could still use it for just that by switching off treaded view.
I do have arcsoft MMS, but how would i go about using it to turn off threaded view SMS and keep the "try again" or resend button?

Is there a cab that you could make me to add a popup window to my screen when a message is unable to send that simple let's me resend it instead of automatically move it to the drafts? This seems to happen alot seeing as I text alot. Thanks in advanced for anybody can help!

Reason I made the cab was to simply add on/off the treaded sms whitout making any change to the notification status for you by simply create this DWORD in youre reg:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSAvailable"=dword:00000000

Arcsoft_MMS 5_0_31_81 w/ treaded ON had the function to ask if you wanted to resend sms/mms if failed. Try to install that and run my cab and see if the red text comes up comes if the sms fails to send. Chance are that this will solve much of youre problem, other than that I would recomend to try another radio if you have severe signal issues
Sorry for the stupid question but um when you say new radio... You mean....?
If you use custom rom they come whit variouse radio, not always will the given radio work smoothly in youre country and phone. I would read up on this tread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393182 and also the OP of the used rom to see if there is any recomended radio for youre phone or country. If none found I would ask in that tread. GL
Is there any way to auto resend a failed message? either for a certain time or an X amount of resends?. My phone constantly goes in and out of service. I dont want to have to keep my phone in my hand waiting for service to kick in then resend.
Hi I have the problem that my messages get messed up after backup with PIM Backup on mx Xperia.
This means all messages are there. The messages I recived are in Inbox folder sorted by the contact. All other messages I've send to this person are in Outbox folder.
But I want to display them in order to see on what message i had replied. In Inbox folder. The messages are displayed this way after you are using your Xperia without backuping them after flashing.
Does any one konw how this work ?
Regards

Go to Messages, all messages, menu, settings, and it will say options and traditional mode/conversation mode...choose "Conversation Mode".
Okay i didnt found this option but I have Win Mobile 6.5 in German. I don't konw may it depends on it.
So I googled and found that this Registry Value :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\OEM\
With this DWORD Key:
SMSInboxThreadingDisabled with value 0 or 1
I think it has the same function.
This has something to do with that i'm meaning, but i want to reorder the existing messages to look like a conversation. This property will only order the next incoming messages like this.
Do you know an what this order depends ?
mine going out of it after pressing on 3,5 jack connector
